I needed a tree removed from my front yard. I got a price from G & R. Then another company beat that price. I called Glenn back and asked if he would meet the price that the other company gave me. I told him if he does that I will give him the job. Well, Glenn met the price and two days later they showed up. The men worked cleanly and efficiently. Glen and the team arrived on short notice and immediately got to work taking a large 40ft multi trunked elm that fell against the house. Company is a disgrace!!! Just like the owner!!! Glen.... even his own workers said he's horrible and can't speak to people. Trimming trees in the community behind me they dropped a branch in my yard I went out handed the man back the branch and there was a whole in my pool hose for my filter. Granted it's not a big deal can be easily fixed or replaced but the owner of this company starts screaming at me telling me nothing happened and he deals with people like me everyday. G&R Tree Service did a great job in removing a very large plum tree in my backyard. They cut the tree down and then removed all of it quickly and efficiently. We ordered a cord of wood alot of the pieces were small in length and thin after glenn delivered it when I got in from I looked at the rack that holds 1 cord of wood which was half full I counted the pieces and counted approx 340 pieces not 400 pieces and alot of them were under 12 inches in length and approximately 2 inches in thickness and the mess they left behind in my driveway from the off load they didnt even try to use a shovel to clean up after themselves I could of gotten better pieces of wood from my local 7-11 read more

Glen is the nastiest person I've ever met, he was working at the neighbors house and I asked to talk to him over the back fence. First he said "no hablo English" and all his workers started to laugh . I wanted a price for a tree in front of my house, so I came out to the front and he was waiting in front of my house to talk to me and starts yelling " I know about people like you". So I said "what the hell are you talking about?". He said "you're trying to get a cheap price because I'm here and you think Im going to do it cheap" "people like you I charge double". I just walked away and he kept yelling. Some thing is definitely wrong, this is not way to get business. His behavior was totally inappropriate as a business man . Contacted G&R Tree service after contacting my Condo association requesting a recommendation. So glad I did. I met with gentleman named Glen (who I later learned is the owner of company) and asked if he could trim three unruly trees that I have on my property. We agreed on a price and soon after appointment was confirmed. I was not at home when tree cutting was actually taking place (my father was) but I was able to arrive in time for completion. I was disappointed to see that trees were not trimmed to level we had agreed upon. Luckily Glen was nearby and I had opportunity to speak with him. He was not aware of this until I showed him the result of original work. He was as disappointed as I was. Obviously the staff that trimmed the trees (well, but not enough) did not follow instructions properly. Glen kindly and without hesitation took it upon himself and trimmed the trees (in extremely hot humid day) to exactly the way I had requested. It was a great job! Called G&R tree service for an estimate to remove several large limbs from a tree in my yard. Not only was it the best estimate of anyone I called, but Carol, in the office , was so gracious and kept me informed of my appointment and rescheduling. (we were having torrential downpours). After getting several quotes I found this company totally by accident as they were doing a job nearby. They trimmed trees that were encroaching on my property which was threatening my roof and power lines and did it with efficiency and cleaned up very nicely. They also gave me the lowest price. This guy glen is a nasty person he went passed the location i wanted work done. While he was there he called me on the cell phone he asked me a couple of questions I was trying to picture what he was talking about so, I asked him a question he started mumbling under his breath in Italian i think then he said sir what don't you understand? so I try to explain to him that the property where the work needs to be done I do not own it I have to speak to the person to see if they will let him come on their property with his truck again he started mumbling. I have to say we used G&R Tree Service and they were great! Glenn came on time to do the estimate, he quickly assessed the tree and his price was reasonable. He showed up the next day on time even a bit earlier prepared with his crew and they took a medium to large tree down. Glenn does the climbing himself and he is fully insured. Him and his guys cleaned up everything and left nothing behind. I am super pleased and I will be using him again going forward. I had called Glenn back to remove a few more branches from my tree and he not only declined to do any further work because it was worth it for him, but he left mid-sentence as I was speaking to him. It's unfortunate that I recommended his services to so many people in my community and that there's no sense of loyalty from his business to returning clients. I'll sum it up simply - one of THE most unprofessional experiences ever. Got their number from the SuperPages, man answers the phone, says he'll send one of his guys down in a few days to give us an estimate. Well this guy "Glenn" arrives around 1ish, totally strung out on booze or something else, slurring his words, doesn't even really introduce himself, asks to look at the job and starts mumbling about the work and that if he does the job says "I gotta get paid". A little bewildered I said of course I didn't think you'd do it for free and how much is it going to cost. So he looks at the tree branches again and says "forget it I ain't gonna do this job".... I called Glen on a Friday with a not urgent tree cut-down and on the next Wednesday the tree was gone! I asked him to save some smaller logs for our summer fires and he made a nice pile. Note: if I could have gave them 0 stars I would have. I had called this company to remove a tree stump out of my yard based on a recommendation from a garden shop by me. They came and gave mea price but advised me that there machine won't be able to fit through my fence and it would have to be taken down. I said ok I will call you when I have it down Glen said ok sounds great. I called the company back to schedule it and for 3 days straight the lady on phone said I'll page the guys. Glen didn't call back until the 3rd time. He told me to give him until the end of the week and he will let me know when he has the machine. I called him back and he doesn't answer or call back. Couldn't believe how unprofessional he was. The company should be ashamed of themselves. I will be letting the garden shop know so they don't recommend them at all. read more

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. I cannot stress this warning enough. These nut jobs were supposed to remove a large tree branch that is hanging above my garage. I told Glenn and his goons that they could use the roof to climb up on the tree but that they should not stand on or work off of the brand new roof on the garage (which was installed just last spring). I explained that the roof does not have the proper support to withstand the weight of heavy men standing on it to wrestle tree branches. I was assured that they would only use the roof as a jumping point but within 15 minutes there was a 250 lb guy on that roof catching huge tree branches falling from where Glenn was cutting pieces of the branch. Instead of letting the branches fall gently to the ground, the heavy set guy was pulling up on them as they were falling. He was causing the branches to scrape against the edges of my garage roof, which flipped up various new shingles and caused them to crack. Not to mention, the weight of the heavy guy standing on it caused various sagging spots on my new roof. When I told Glenn to stop what he was doing and get his man off the roof, he started cursing at me from the tree he was perched on (at least 30-40 feet in the air). To say that the entire neighbourhood heard his cursing tirade is an understatement. He said: "what are you gonna do? You gonna sue me for some shingles?" and I said that I would sue if we obviously couldn't come to an agreement about how to fix this. Glenn started cursing even louder and proceeded to climb down the tree and pack up his equipment without even having completed the branch removal. To add insult to injury, he did not even clean the mess he made in my yard leaving branches, leaves, saw dust and pollen scattered all over my garage roof, deck and driveway. Glenn was a complete nut case and I wouldn't use him to whittle a toothpick much less wield a chainsaw anywhere near my property again. Please exercise caution when dealing with these guys as they are careless, belligerent and extremely unprofessional. read more

These people are beyond horrible. I didn't use their alleged 'service' but was unfortunate enough to be across the street while they were doing it. Anything I say here can be backed up by witnesses from the neighborhood. I was woken by the amount of noise coming from their machinery, roughly equivalent to the Second Avenue Subway. I understand that this is New York and it is noisy, especially when dealing with heavy equipment. What I don't understand is a man screaming profanities at a woman loud enough to be heard across the street and half a block away. Regardless of the difference between a tree and a shrub, it should have been agreed upon beforehand. Who gets work done without an estimate??? To be screaming at my neighbor in such a disturbing fashion??? I was so bothered I went over to ask the gentleman's name. According to both the gentleman I spoke to, neither knew his name. Uh- huh. I never know the names of my co-workers either. Riiiight. So I attempted to deal with Mister Loudmouth. He starts yelling at me, telling me she always wants something for free, and that I don't know what I am talking about. That's right, whenever there is something wrong, and try to pull the person aside to discuss the situation is wrong. I gave up attempting to deal with this hot head (plus he seemed so angry I had so consider physical safety.) and said I would call his office. He said he didn't care. I said I would put it on social media, he didn't care. I told him I didn't think it was such great advertising to park his equipment at a fire hydrant, disrupt the neighborhood, and abuse a single defenseless Asian woman. I am sorry, but since the woman in question was my next door neighbor for years and bought the property across the street with her family as an investment, I saw and heard what happened. I tried to call the office and was put on hold. I called back like a dozen times but it was always busy. When she finally answered I told her was giving them the courtesy of handling this before I call 311. She told me the owner was up a tree and she just worked there. I asked for his number and was refused before I gave up in disgust. I also think it odd that they didn't say G&R tree service just tree service leaving me to wonder how many names have they been under. If you are unfortunate enough to use these people, please know this is the impression they make on the neighbors. Imagine what it would be like to deal with them for more than five minutes. I called G & R Tree Service along with two other services on a Wednesday . Glen answered on Thursday and came by that afternoon with an estimate. Both of the other services answered two days later. One came by without my knowledge and called with an estimate 275.00 more than Glen and without my input of what I wanted done. Still waiting for estimate #3 despite their call they would be here the next day. 2 trees down a fence was cleared, removal & clean up by Glen and his crew was efficient and professional. wow way to destroy our lawn, decided to cut things to the base. the shrubs needed trimming and we wanted them to be cut short but instead of cutting them short he decided to cut everything to the stub, complete eff up there. He did the front and other side ok but was rude and completely effed up the side of the house. I personally haven't used the service but have dealt with the owner who is a rude, belligerent, unprofessional man. I would never use his service. My neighbor used him to cut down a tree in her yard. They brought in their big trucks and blocked my driveway for the better half of the day. I figured it wasn't a big deal as my car was parked directly in front of my house and thought I'd be nice since they needed the space for their trucks. Shame on me. My SUV was side swiped and the running board partially ripped and torn off. I had white paint on my car which coincided with the white trucks but their claim was I got side swiped by a car. When I proceeded to ask the owner about the damage he started ranting and yelling in front of my kids. He proceeded to say that "people" have problems and they were trying to put their problems on him. I assume by "people" he was referring to me. He was yelling in the streets like a mad man saying that I was trying to get over on him. I approached him nicely to see if we could resolve the issue like adults and ended up calling the cops.
