Was directly lied to multiple times. Had taken my snow tires in to be put on along with getting oil changed, using the filter & oil that was right next to tires. Got home to discover the tires weren't changed & oil supplies not used. When I went back the next day, i asked if the tires were changed and my oil supplies used...two employees both said it had been done with no problems. Once I said everything was still in trunk, they back tracked. No refund was offered, no apologies for lying or making me have to come back in. They also said I needed an alignment, however we just had the brakes done at an honest shop where they checked and said everything was good. DON'T GO HERE. read more

Although I called ahead, I was told that customers are helped on a first come fist served basis but that currently it would take about two hours to perform the summer tires for snow tires swap and a full service oil change. When i arrived, two hours later, several customers had showed up and the time to complete my work was increased to 3 - 3 1/2 hours. I told the service adviser to just do the best that he could do because I had no option but to wait for the service to be performed. I'm not sure what magic the service advisor used but my car was ready in about 1 hour and 50 minutes! Actually, I think the service advisor was able to recognise that he could shuffle some customer's vehicles around and slip mine in. I was waiting in the store, and the other customers had left and were coming back at a set time, so I think the service advisor recognized that he would be able to fulfill all of his committments. They are not the only game in town, but they act like it. Premium prices for basic services performed with minimum to non-existent courtesy. Raul and his cronies will try very hard to get you to replace your tires that only have 10000 miles on them with comments like "that's 1/4 of the life of the tire. You need to replace them now!" They will also try stunts like simply keeping your summer tires when you go to have your snow tires put on. It doesn't matter what the wear on the tire is. You just won't get your other tires back. Be prepared to put up a fight if you do want those tires back. The gist of it is, if you have money to burn and don't mind being treated like dirt, then this is the place for you. I called this big o tire because I got a flat in Marble CO. They told me that if I get there before they close at 4 they could replace the tire. I make the the hour long drive on our spare with my family in the car and they turn us away at 345, and refuse to help in any way to drive my fully loaded car on mountain roads. called big o the day before at 8:30 and they said that they were close to not taking any more cars for the day due to too many people. So I asked what time they open the next day and he said 7am. Got there at 6:30am they next morning to get my winter tires changed with another 5 people waiting before they open. They open, get my keys and tell us it's going to be around 4 hours before we can get our cars back because they had a back up from the day before. They said that they don't take too many cars when I calls the previous day and just told them that that was bad communication. The manager then grabbed my bag were my keys were and said you're in the back of the line and now it's going to be an hour longer. The. He said to suck his dick on the way out. First off, take a look inside the shop and you'll see the majority of the employees appear to be juveniles. Take caution when bring a valuable vehicle into this store. Secondly, any three year warranty or warranty that comes with Big O branded tires is almost purely a marketing scheme. Will they replace a puncture or blowout? Sure, what company wouldn't? Don't expect much beyond that. After spending $1200 on tires and alignment, my truck no longer drove straight. Come back in for another alignment and these crooks tell me I need front end work. I consulted two other reputable mechanics who both insisted on an alignment. The front end was fine. 20,000 miles later (these tires are supposed to carry a 60,000 mile warranty) there's excessive wear on the front and back right side. I was told the warranty doesn't cover mechanical wear, which in this case equates to an improper alignment. They told me they would give me a deal and only charge me another $700 for replacement. Sound suspect? Lastly, if you challenge their flawed logic, don't expect an intelligent explanation. What you can expect, is the response of a crooked shop. I was told by shop employee Daniel, "I'm done talking to you, have a nice day. The corporate number is on the Internet, go find it." Sure Daniel, I will reach out higher up the ladder. Lo and behold, Charlie, who claimed was the shop owner (highly unlikely), gives me the same old run around. "Warranty doesn't cover bad alignment which was performed by us." Charlie even went as far as to tell me the alignment has nothing to do with rear tire wear. These tires have been rotated by Big O, so yes Charlie, a bad alignment does have something to do with the rear tires. Did you take the time to look over files showing the work Big O has done? No, you're just a talking head. The conversation, once again, ends with "there's nothing left to say to you" which translates to, "there's nothing left to say to you because we just robbed you of $1200 and we don't cover our own mechanical errors. So either give us another $700 or go screw yourself" If you value your car, please go right next door. The little savings you get from a "free rotate" yada yada yada, probably isn't worth it in the long run. These aren't mechanics. They're underpaid employees who could care less about the well being of your vehicle. read more

Where to start. Oh i dropped my car off to get oil change and tire rotation. I went and picked my car up and noticed on the sticker that they put the wrong oil in it even after discussing what oil it needed. Then I noticed that the same low tire indicator that was on when I dropped the car off was still on! And on top of that my low battery indicator was also on which it was NOT when I dropped it off! That cost me a new battery, a tow to the dealership in Glenwood and a $150 repair bill for a blown fuse. So to summarize I didn't get the right oil change, tired weren't rotated and had about a 500$ repair bill after I was without my truck for a week. Then I had to pay some one another 100$ to put the right oil in it and rotate the tires. Needless to say I'm pissed and won't do business with them ever again read more

I just returned from Big O Tire in Basalt where I got some great service and also observed them giving great service to others. I was there because the mounting on my tires had been done incorrectly. I was greeted by Hernan who apologized and said he would take care of it immediately. This is quite a change from past experiences where staff members had given the impression that they could care less about me or my business. While I waited, I heard several customers come in and they were taken care of in a very polite and professional way as well. One man was especially rude to them numerous times, but all of the staff just listened and took care of him as best they could. I was pleasantly surprised by the service today and hope that it continues. read more

I go here as its convenient to my house and for the most part they do a decent job at tire change-outs and rotations. Thought I would give them a shot for oil change services. While the staff is friendly and seemed to do a acceptable job at the service the prices are just way too marked up. They charge $11.60 per quart for Havoline 0W -20 synthetic oil which can be purchased at Walmart for $19.97 for 6 quarts, or $3.33 quart. I get they need to make a profit and will mark up parts, but I think that's just excessive. I'll look elsewhere for oil service next time. read more

Flat tire removed and replaced with spare. 6:58 a.m.: Pulled into Big O Tire Store parking lot. 7:14 a.m.: Left Big O Tire Store parking lot with tire repaired and replaced on the car. Cost: $0(!) BIG NO TIRES. Since this shop does not take appointments (much easier for them) I called to see if they had, or could get the two sets of tires (from their website, but this store can't be contacted via the website) I wanted for my two cars before dropping of the cars at 7:00 because by 7:30 they don't take any more cars. They said they'd call me back as soon as they checked inventory... and of course they didn't... again. This is a recurring scenario with Big O in Basalt, if you want tires in fall or spring when they're doing the winter tire change outs, forget it. They just don't care, and don't have to because people just line up and deal with it as if they have no other option. I waited three or four days, then went on the website for another national chain in Glenwood Springs (20 miles away). I ordered, paid and made two appointments, and a couple of hours later the store called to verify and see if I had any questions. At that point I bought two other sets of tires and made appointment for my two work vehicles as well. I would always rather deal with local vendors, even if I have to pay a bit more (I didn't in this case), and these are both local in my mind. Friday:Truck didn't come in Saturday: Called 10:30 am truck came in with our tires but they were done taking tires for the day Sunday:Closed Monday:We called 8:45 AM, they still had our tires and we could come get them ONE HOUR LATER when we got there they had SOLD THE TIRES WE ORDERED TO SOMEONE ELSE!! They said we could order more and they would be in Friday. Do that all over again?! YEAH RIGHT NO WAY! So i was shopping around some snow tires for my CLA 45 AMG i guess those was not easy to find because of the tire size very rear !!!! in 2 days bill one of the team crew found me the best tire for my car they called me 2 days after that the shipping arrived. i waited maybe 5 min till they started to work on my car less then an hour i was good to go !! they wasn't cheap tires those 19" pirelli 240z but the best fit for my car !!! on top of the service i end up getting a good deal !!!!! read more

For a place that specializes in tires, I am extremely disappointed in the service, the quality of workmanship, and sheer ability to preform the most basic of tasks. I bought new tires from them 1 year ago, and due to bad alignment the tires wore unevenly. The warranty should have covered this, but instead I was told I needed to purchase new tires. After purchasing new tires, I had to return THREE times to have them try to correct the shimmy they had caused by not correctly balancing my brand new tires. I gave up after the 3rd try and now just have to live with it, since they can't seem to get it right. (Which will eventually lead to uneven wear and another set of new tires). When I received my truck back the first time, the interior upholstery, steering wheel, door handles, and shifter were all covered in oil from the driver who had pulled by truck out of the garage. Big-O Tires in Basalt does not care about their customers...but instead care about turning out as many cars as possible, as fast as possible, even if they are not right. Their staff is hardly knowledgeable beyond what it takes to remove and replace tires (which I can do at home). They refuse to help and take responsibility for the bad job they have done, or any error on their part. read more

yep, I checked this place before hand on yelp and the rating was not very good, maybe I should of listened to what the other reviewers where saying. I just needed my tires rotated. Well according to them salesman I had all kinds of problems. After going back and forth about my alingment, brakes and and possiably needing a complete new front end, struts etc. I finally had them check to see if the tires needed to be balanced, well guss what that all it was. If I had not questioned what he was telling me than I would of been out of pocket thousands. I think with any car service place is pays to get a second opinion and not just take what they are telling you as the truth. The people where very nice and not over demanding or anything like and with the tires getting balanced my car runs great. Getting to the real reason my car didn't feel right should be their job not mine. i learned a while back to think for myself and not let someone else do the thinking for you. This time that really paid off. Granted I will need more service on my car in the next 10 to 20 thousand miles but it sure didn't need to be done right their on the spot. read more

noticed on my last tire purchase they included some misc. charges for some materials. Also I purchased an unlimited muliti. year front end alignment from them. Upon going to get another alignment, they told me that they needed to do a bunch of front end work. Which would be North of $1000.00. Thankfully i got a second opinion. I did not need any work it was within Mfg's specifications. Bringing this up with my neighbor, he told me his wife was conned into spending thousands of dollars for work that was not needed! Two more surprises: great tasting coffee today; and a $20 charge for the tire change. I was in need of an oil change and I had a screw in my tire which was leaking slowly over the course of a week or so... These guys were fantastic, they changed the oil in under an hour and did the most professional patch job I've ever seen. When my companion wanted a soda from the soda machine but didn't have a dollar, the guys gave us a buck for the soda. Good people there at Big-O tires. Ordered super expensive snow tires for my new 2018 car I just got. Living in the mountains, you need to have the BEST tires possible. After not hearing from them for a week, I called and they couldn't find the order. However, eventually they did find it. I was driving over to Vail and dropped the car off at 9 in the morning to get my tires on. I explained that I would pick the car up on the way back from Vail, around 2 or 3 pm. They said that it wouldn't be ready until 6 pm. WHAT?? I just spent $2200 on tires and you can't get my car done for 9 hours. He explained that he had all these people in front of me, and that's just how it was. Special note, he was the assistant manager and the manager was there also overhearing our conversation. I asked if customers who bought tires from them got any priority, NOPE. So I took my tires and dropped my car and tires off at Alpine tires in Glenwood. What a pleasure...no attitude, no rudeness and happy to have my car done in 30 minutes. Alpine Tire is my new go to and should be yours also. read more

Went into Big O Tires for a few simple service requests; change the oil, replace one brake light, and check the life on my battery. Upon initial conversation, I was told that fulfilling those three service requests would take 45 minutes but in actuality it took 1 hour and 45 minutes until my car was "finished." I was relaxed with the extra hour that the service took because it's a Saturday and I'm a patient human so no worries on that front. Then, after paying for all of the aforementioned services I was given my keys and told that the car was "good-to-go" only to be surprised that when I went out to get into it two staff ran out and asked me to start it so that they could "check the brake light." Low and behold they replaced a working brake light (which is obviously unnecessary) and forgot to replace the broken one. The two staff then scrambled to replace the broken brake light in front of the shop when a third employee came out and asked if they could take it back into the garage to finish the light service only to have the realization that when turning the key to start the engine...the battery was dead. Note: In bill #1 these ding dongs charged me $31 to check my battery and then told me that my batteries life was "great," when in actuality they hadn't even checked it. Red flag. So employee #3 then jumped in the car to take it back into the garage and replace the brake light actually check the battery. I was then told by the manager (sidenote: dude probably shouldn't be a manager of a store) that the battery would cost $160 which I was totally fine with because that's the going rate for a battery. Then (cherry on top of this whole junk show situation) I came back in to pay for bill #2 and was told that they had worked on changing my battery for 45 minutes and charged me $115 of labor on top of my battery price which, for the record, was totally inflated as they had installed the battery for only 15 minutes. I then asked the manager to lower the labor cost and after huffing and puffing he decided to drop $30 off of bill #2. At that point I was tired of dealing with incompetence so I decided to just cut my losses, I swore internally that I would never give Big O' Tire a cent of my money, and go home to relax. After all it was a Saturday. Moral of the story: don't take your car to get worked on here. Go somewhere local where service is thorough and honesty is valued. read more

No one wants to be the person that has negative things to say about local business. However, when a business purposely lies and denies actions created by their team, that is just not something I like to let slide by. I have been taking 2 vehicles to Big O for the last 12 yrs. We have never had a any issues. Overall, it seemed the Big O team was funneling some of their best talent to this store as our valley requires a lot of help during the winter. It seems that run of talent has taken a turn for the worst. When I picked up my car after getting the winter tires swapped, the mechanics gloves were left inside the car, the tires were wrapped in dirty plastic which was thrown in my rear seats where all the dirt smudged off. Tire Lube was found on the body of my car in different places and no one even tried to clean it off. Finally, they had improperly jacked the car up on the side, created an indentation where the jack was placed and while the car was in the air, they opened the door. When opening the door and the side molding being pinched by the pressure of the load, the top and bottom panel rubbed which scraped the paint off the bottom of the door and the side molding of the vehicle. I took it to High Tone Auto and they immediately told me how this occurred and documented it. The manager at Big O was not too helpful and was more concerned about pushing back the responsibility onto me. This is just not the kind of business you want to stress over, support, or that our community deserves. *****UPDATE 4.25.19****** While it took some more effort on my end, I did reach out to their regional manager Martin who was very pleasant to work with and made things right. He informed me there was video in each garage and they would request it to look at it further. At the end of it all they helped me resolve this issue and helped me address the damage on the car. Thats all you can ask for. Open and honest conversation with accountability. I increased my one star to a 3. Thanks. read more
