My 500th review?! How the time flies! Excited to be writing this one for Big Oak Driving Range, where my partner and I stopped by yesterday evening for some swinging and MISSING. I love this place! The staff was so kind, and while it was BUSY yesterday, people move in and out at a steady clip so we had no problem finding a tee to get set up on. Everything is really well maintained and there's ZERO pretentious vibes, which I really appreciated as a beginner. You don't have to wear a fancy outfit, sneakers are perfectly fine, and there's golfers of all levels and abilities. Really nice! They also offer classes, and I think we're going to take one of their group offerings over the summer. We went with a large bucket to split for $16, and got in about 40 minutes of golf fun. I think the prices are pretty reasonable and I appreciate the large parking lot. A lot of sales inside if you're looking for any kind of gear! Wearables, carts, clubs, AND they do club fittings. The shop itself is a little old school and run down, but so is golf, so it is on brand. I never thought I would find myself interested in golf (my parents are both big golfers) but I actually find myself really enjoying it. I am looking forward to continuing my golf journey and many more trips to Big Oaks in the future! read more

The place was okay but play was WAY to slow. After waiting on every hole, the front nine took us 3 hours. When I then told the pro shop that I would rather take a rain check for the back nine since we didn't have 6 hours to play golf I was told there was nothing they could do because it wasn't raining. That is really a poor reaction to a golf course that was overbooked on a Saturday morning with people new to the game. read more

Been going to Big Oak for almost a year. Staff is always helpful and there is always a spot to pratice. I love that you can also rent a spot under the shade for a little extra $$. Pricing is average and they have lessons available if needed! read more

Great place to get some practice in! The addition of the bar is a nice touch to help relax and makes for a fun time practicing.

Four jammed in a car for a family road trip Boys stretched their legs by hitting an enormous bucket of balls as daughter and I took dog and lounged under a tree. We'll maintained and safe (and popular) range The few covered tees were reserved for lessons with a pro but we were there for a large bucket only Yelped it and Yelp didn't disappoint If you are near by - visit this range! Stopped in to get a driver shaft replaced from stiff to extra stiff. Some 18 year old lookin kid took my driver, quoted me low, and told me 2 days tops. Call back the next day to find out not only do they not have what I'm looking for in stock, it would be more expensive, 3x the cost. This place maybe alright, but don't trust the kids. read more

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, clean area, plenty of space and good prices. For a little extra you can rent the covered bays that have tracker technology which is so much fun, you can play different games or test different skills. Great fun for groups. They will be adding a bar area and food to it so it's gonna be awesome! read more

Went to Big Oak today to get my wife a new driver and to get 3clubs re gripped.Nico did the grips and did a nice job.Rob Koehler then helped us as Nico had a customer fitting.Rob did a GREAT job with my wife,explaining the different choices and giving her several excellent teaching suggestions as she tried clubs he had selected for her.She eventually made a club selection and he then had several well thought out suggestions about grips that would help her.I have PAID for fittings that were a JOKE compared to what Rob did....I have shopped Big Oak for years and have never found a better golf business. Big Oak deserves 5 stars, thanks in large part to most of the golf courses not having driving ranges in Rochester. Seriously, how can you golf if you don't have a place to warm up beforehand? Coming from Las Vegas, this is definitely not something I was expecting when I started golfing. This makes driving ranges much more important, and Big Oak is about as good as it gets. Their staff is knowledgable and they have enough spots that it never seems too busy, even during peak times. The putting/chipping area is a bit small, but it still does the trick. If you are looking for a driving range to hone your skills before a round, this is definitely the place to go. Luckily it is less than a mile from my house, so I will be frequenting the range as long as I'm here. If you plan on coming often, I would recommend getting the frequent player card that gives you 12 buckets for the price of 10. Enjoy! read more

Great place to hit some buckets. So they have a special going on right now. Buy a large bucket for $12, and you get unlimited large buckets for that day. I was only able to hit two large buckets, wore me out. I noticed at the end of practice that there is a grass area to hit from on the left side. I was hitting off a mat the entire time. The staff was pretty friendly, lots of them. Not many people comings out to practice though. I'd definitely come back again someday. read more

A pretty good time (if you are good) can be had if you like a good, unpretentious, cost effective driving range. I stopped by with my nephew to hit a few balls and found a fairly good value. We spent about 90 minutes teeing up on fairly well kempt platforms into some nicely manicured lawn. Large bucket - $10. Small bucket - $4.00. Markers are well positioned for some good judgment of your drives. Too bad I will never live to see the day I get past that 230 yard marker! The staff was helpful and attentive. read more

Great place to unwind from a stressful day. If you love golf, this is a great spot. Hours are reasonable and staff is nice.

This place beats the big box golf options in rochester, by far. Having the ability to demo clubs out on a real range, and not a simulator, is a major advantage. The staff are usually attentive and patient (there have been a few times now that I've picked up on a snooty 'tude from the golf galaxy staff). Supposedly the range is open year round but I'm not sure how that actually works in February. read more

The shop seems pretty well stocked and the employees are friendly. There are mats and a grass area at the end that are mostly first come first serve. This place got packed after the hot summer day cooled off a bit. There were people of all skill levels in all sorts of attire. read more

Forewarning: I am NOT a golfer. I walked in yesterday about a half hour before they closed looking for a birthday present for my left handed nephew ( I know last minute Sally here) . The guy that helped me was so helpful taught me everything I needed to know and did it in a very not condescending way like some golf gurus can. He even put a special letter together to mail to his house congratulating him on his clubs. After taking all the plastic off of each club, he opened the door for me and carried the clubs out to my car for me. He insisted and was a true gentleman. I will definitely be back there and highly suggest you do the same! read more

Been going here since I was little and still the best range. They got an awesome pro shop as well which a ton of hidden gems. Got a used Scotty Cameron there in great condition for only $175. 5 stars all the way for big oak. read more

A very good place to practice. They keep the place up very well. One of my favorite. On top of that, they also sell golf equipments and apparels. They changed my grips for me at a decent price, and did a very good job. read more

The place is clean and the price is right. It takes about 20 minutes from my house to get there, but I go to Big Oak instead of other closer driving ranges because this place is maintained much better than other places. read more

Big Oak went above and beyond to make me a happy customer. Nico worked with me for over an hour, explaining everything going on with my swing. We tried many different clubs & setups until we arrived at something that i was happy with. I cannot recommend Nico enough when it comes to iron fittings. We have always had good experiences with the knowledgeable and friendly staff at Big Oak. Whether it was a purchase of a second set of clubs to store stateside or annual lessons for our son when we visit Rochester in the summer. Recently I faced a huge challenge: I needed a rushed custom set since I would only be in Rochester for 5 days. They were delivered and look great. Especially appreciate Dave's guidance for the fitting and Brian's tireless follow up with Taylormade to ensure the manufacture and delivery in such a tight window. read more
