I ordered two meals, and the ribs I received looked nothing like the photos on the menu. I politely asked for a different serving--something that better matched the advertised presentation. However, the young man assisting me insisted there was nothing wrong with the ribs and refused to replace them. I attempted to eat one but couldn't continue, and unfortunately, I became ill afterward with loose stools. Two weeks later, my doctor ran tests and diagnosed me with Campylobacter, a bacterial infection commonly caused by undercooked meat. I received treatment, and shortly after, the Health Department contacted me to conduct an investigation. I paid over $20 for this meal--not only was the service disappointing, but I also became sick as a result. This experience was extremely frustrating and unacceptable. read more

The barbecue here is to die for. Everything is so fresh and delicious and the service is always top notch. My only complaint is they are not always available when I'm craving it because they sell during the Thunder games. Otherwise when I do get a chance to eat here, wow oh wow my taste buds don't complain. The ribs and briskets are so good. I love their fries, okra, bbq sauce, and everything on the menu. Big O's has been one of my go-to spots for a long time. I've always loved the food, the portions, and the heart behind the business. Lately though, the quality hasn't been what I'm used to. The service is always very friendly, and the location is always clean. The last few visits, the meat has been overcooked, dry, and even a little burnt at times. It's tough because I know how good Big O's can be when everything's hitting right. The flavors and care that usually set them apart just haven't been as consistent recently. I'm still a fan and still want to support -- this place means a lot to the community and to me personally. I'm really hoping to see them bounce back to the level I know they're capable of. read more

Still on the hunt for good BBQ in the area. We had the pulled pork sandwiches. They chopped the pork like you would chopped brisket which made it hard to eat without meat falling out with every bite. The fried okra was a bit overdone, but the thick cut fries were good. It was takeout, but the service at the counter was less than enthusiastic to fill the order. Loaded Nacho Fans!! Look no further! Big O has crafted your dream nachos! And at Big Os dreams do come true! Nacho chips, nacho cheese, jalapeños, pulled pork, beans(yes beans! So good and such a game changer!) and of course bbq sauce! A half order is huge and the full order is a feast! We have fallen so head over heels for these nachos, that I am embarrassed to say that we haven't even tried the rest of the menu! But definitely have plans to! I had the brisket nachos and a half slab of ribs. I wasn't really impressed with either one but the nachos were the most underwhelming. The BBQ sauce on the nachos was far too sweet, the chips weren't that fresh, and the cheese wasn't that good of quality. A friend picked it up for takeout a couple weeks ago. I would definitely try it again when it hasn't had to travel so far. I ordered a pound of pulled pork, the half pork nachos and Big O potato with brisket. The half order of nachos was gigantic, as was the potato. Of course with all that food, I had enough for two more meals with my husband. The potato completely filled up the same size to go box as the nachos. The potato and nachos were absolutely delicious and the meat complemented both of the entrees nicely. This place is "O-some". Big O caught us as we walked in and asked if it was our first time and what we had before. He then said, "here's what we're gonna do," point to me, "you're gonna get the loaded baked potato with brisket", then pointing my son, "and you'll get the pulled pork". This place is delicious and always tons of food when they bring it out. The staff is always nice and they bring your food out to you. I've never had to wait very long for our order. They do run out of ribs early in the day but that's because their good. Their sides are delicious also. The restaurant is pretty good size and I've never seen it full in there. A lot of people come in for to go food. There are tvs with sports on and sports memorabilia on the walls. Would highly recommend this place for a great bbq joint. The pulled pork was okay. The ribs were not. They looked and tasted like they were prepared several days in advance and had been sitting in a warmer. Very overcooked and almost jerky. The okra was the best part of the meal. The potato salad was just okay. It all made us wonder if they prepared big batches once or twice a week and reheated some each day. I remember having Big O's food truck and am beyond excited that it is now gone full brick & mortar! If you ever have wondered "Hmmm I wonder exactly what dreams taste like?" You, my friend, have found just the restaurant for you! I think the best way to explain what exactly dreams taste like is by breaking down Big O's BBQ nachos! The options for meat on these nachos is either brisket or pulled pork. I am historically more of a brisket man myself and so even though I know Big O is about the pork (it's in the restaurant name after all) I go brisket on these nachos. The brisket melts in your mouth. That phrase gets overused so let me take it a step further so you know how serious I am. The brisket begins as a solid, and then after placing it into your food hole, it suddenly is now a liquid! Okay my description makes that phrase so much worse so just get over the fact that the phrase "melts in your mouth" is overused...the brisket is crazy good and tender! The nachos use melted cheese and bbq sauce to get everything to glue to the chips so you get epic bites every time you reach down. The jalapeños give a little kick and wow do you have a complete plate. Tell me what else this dish needs? TELL ME! Oh you need a drink to go with it? Big O has you covered. There is a ton of different lemonades that remind you that BBQ is an experience that requires a drink in one have and a mess of smoked meat in the other! I have this 4 stars because I enjoyed the taste of the food. But I didn't like what I ordered. I got the fat butt loaded potato with brisket, polish, and the 2 ribs. I realized I don't like my food all mixed like it was. It was something very sweet and I'm more of a savory girl. I needed more sour cream and cheese. I justice not read the menu all the way cuz I don't remember it coming with grilled onions and jalapeños I don't do spicy at all and I would never put grilled onions on a potato. The best thing about Big O's is you are supporting a locally owned black business. The man himself was there and although he didn't talk to me he gave me a thumbs up as in asking if we liked it. So the meats were putting good. I had chopped brisket and polish sausage. Brisket at places especially chopped is often dry but this was very moist. Their bbq is nicely flavored. Where I think they could improve the most on is sides. I had greens beans. They were pretty bland and kinda rubbery. So you know that they came from a can. My wife had the yellow potato salad and liked it. But I would also like to see more vegetable option though. Currently they don't have inside dining but they do have patio seating which was ok except for the flies. I wish there was either a bug zapper or citronella candles to help with it.
