We used big trailer rentals to move from OC to Idaho. We are fortunate to own a F250 and not have to deal with the extreme prices of Penske and Uhaul. Place had good inventory, we had a flat bed trailer rented for a day. The brakes was not working most of the time . I have a 2022 ram 2500 truck also a 10ch trailer of the same brand big Tex. The trailer we rented just keep telling me trailer break is not working. They couldn't get a replacement trailer in time also they charged us two more days because we had to drive really slow to return it . Bad maintenance of this place would not recommend. I needed a car haul and advice on which one to get as my car is about 3 inches off the ground. I did not want to rent anything after seeing how high the 18' and 20' were. Luckily Ken showed me all the car hauls they had - including an enclosed which was perfect very low and had a modified end lip that would help my car fit. 2nd UPDATE: To Brad B. who falsely stated that the trailer we used was overloaded: the trailer was never weighed considering it had 2 bed frames and mattress', some boxes of clothes, dishes etc. and 2 couches and was driven 1,100 miles before the leaf spring blew. You have zero proof to falsely say that it was overloaded. As I explained below you can clearly see the crystallization of the metal at the break of the leaf spring indicating an excessive amount of heat and then a cool down multiple times, well before we even touched the trailer. Judging by the rest of the issues that we had before we had even put anything inside the trailer (cross threaded lug nut, nail in the tire, a spare that was almost a racing slick and a valve stem that was ready to blow out) and the low quality of the trailer/parts, it should have come as no surprise that you would try to hide the fact that there are many issues with your equipment to make a falsely stated comment like that. Not to mention the fact that you're just now commenting to a post and asking us to come down to take a look at a trailer we rented from you over 2 months ago. Like I said, very poor business model and even poorer equipment. Buyer beware. read more

I needed a flat bed trailer to haul my 1947 Chevy car project. My wife Googled local businesses and came across Big Trailer Rentals. She forwarded me the info and I navigated through their user friendly website. I was able to find the trailer I needed and made a call to them. I spoke to Ken that was very friendly and knowledgeable about what I needed. I went to pick up the trailer and met the owner and Ken. My experience was very smooth and I was out with the trailer in no time. They're very flexible with their schedule given you have communication with them. Make sure you give 72 hour notice in the event of change to original date. The trailer says very clean, easy to use, worked out as intended. Worst experience renting anything ever! I rented a 28' box trailer. We reserved it for 2 weeks, when I picked up the trailer I asked if I can return it early, Ken said "yes. Just give us a 72 hour notice" I said ok and we were on our way. Everything was going good until we were in the middle of nowhere in New Mexico when a trailer spring broke. It was 1am on a Sunday and we were on the side of the freeway. I called big trailer rentals multiple times but they were closed. So I called a roadside service truck who came out and fixed the trailer. It was about 3pm when they got there to fix it. I paid the service truck to fix the trailer. It was $530. As soon as I reached the next town I stopped at a truck stop and got the trailer weighed so that big trailer rentals didn't blame the spring on me saying I over loaded it... the trailer was 2000lbs under max weight.. when Monday morning came I called big trailer rentals the minute they opened and told them. Ken assured me I would be refunded and it wasn't a problem. Ken asked me to send him the copy of the repair receipt. I asked if he needed the weight slip showing my weight, he said no. Just the receipt. Again he assured me I would get refunded. I also told him Monday morning that I would be dropping the trailer off on Wednesday morning. He said not a problem. So Wednesday morning came around and I dropped off the trailer at 7:30 am. Ken assured me I was getting refunded for the repair and the week of rental for dropping it off a week early. He said his accounting department should take care of it that same day... he knew I was leaving that day to move out of state. So I left. Taking his word for the REFUND of over $1200! so after waiting for a few days for the money to come back into my account it never showed up. It has been over 2 weeks since I dropped the trailer off and I have called everyday for the last week and a half with no answer or call back... they are dodging my phone calls. I had a friend call to see if they would answer and she left a message and they called her back within 5 minutes. This company is as shady as they come. They are complete scum. Go somewhere else! Buyer beware! Now I am looking into getting an attorney. read more

Nice trailers, poor customer service. Rented a 20 foot box trailer from big trailer rentals on a Saturday. Due to them being closed on sundays (my date to return) I was told they would text me with a gate code. I asked if I could return it Saturday evening as I had a lot to do on Sunday and was told to text them with an hour eta that he takes the phone home with him. I text them a two hour notice as to what time I would be there. Didn't get a text back, drove the 45 minutes to the location, sent two more texts, called 7 times and waited at the gate for an hour with no reply. I ended up having to tow the trailer 45 minutes back to my house and then text for the code Sunday morning. They responded back without even an apology. Very unprofessional in my opinion! The owner can be very proud of the service and professionalism of his business. I needed a trailer to transport a boom lift about 14k weight. After talking with Brad he did have a trailer that fit my parameters but it was already reserved for the next day. Well to my suprise Brad called me back within 15 minutes he had called the other party and asked them if a a later pick up might be ok. They were ok with this allowing me to get the job done. Unfortunately my Chevy Diesel 4500 was not happy coming from S.D. to Riv. turbo pipe blow off. Brad very understanding. Get back finally 2 days later. Then while unloading had mishap causing some damage. So here i am I have a business that goes out of their way to help me and I am 2 days late and the above.
