Quick and kind service. I really enjoyed the espresso and it was good place to open up my computer and work for a little bit.

I spent the full day at this location to make use of the free wi-fi, and the buy one get one free Wednesday deal. I arrived an hour after opening. Upon arrival the manager "Aileen" was telling one of her staff that she "Puts out too easily" in reference to this under-age females person life. The manager then left to the backroom where other staff mentioned she was using cocaine. I asked if I may see behind the counters and was invited back. About 10 minutes later the manager returned to front of house and appeared very alert. She requested for a guest to disable flash notifications on their phone and became dismissive and irate towards the guest. The manager was asked for by an employee to help on the register with a confusing order. The manager made a big deal about this employee requesting help and pushed the employee to the side. I spoke with this employee at a later time who disclosed to me that the manager frequently lays hands on employees, especially younger employees, yells at them, and calls them horrendous names. My personal observation of the manager only verified this employees claims as the manager began talking about a prior employee, referring to him with derogatory slang used to describe LGBTQ+ individuals. At no point did the manager use discretion, allowing the entire staff and customers to overhear her language. If you are choosing to consume beverages, or food supplied by this place, you will be putting your health and safety at risk. The amount of food, open containers, unrefrigerated dairy products, and waste materials left in the working area is disguising. This location is amazing. The manger and employees are always bubbly and move fast. They know me by name and always get my order right. The food is also AMAZING especially the maple waffle (never get rid of it). There is a review I noticed that was clearly made by past employee trying to bash the store, and manager which is unacceptable. Kids need to grow up. You can clearly see employees in the reflection of one of the images. Messes happen when it's busy, I've worked food service before but when they have time they clean up after themselves AND keep a positive environment. All of the statements that were made by that fake account should not be considered when coming to this location. They are the best around!! read more

If I could leave no stars I would. Every time we go here these employees are beyond rude and I don't even order anything complicated and I always thank them and tip. Today was the last time we will go to a biggby. We asked if they were serving food and she paused and said YESSUHH like it was the worst thing in the world to put a bagel in the oven lmao. She was incredibly rude when she handed us our food she didn't even look at us or say you're welcome when we thanked her. Just slammed the window shut. All these people need training on customer service but especially the one with glasses and acne. Girlie needs to find a job that's not customer facing because she has absolutely zero customer service skills. this review is for the location at 54th and division... was super bummed out because one of the barista was so rude! I'm not trying to be precious but I spend eight dollars plus a tip on a latte and I politely asked for the whip cream I had ordered. She snapped at me and said I needed to ask for it if I have an oat milk drink... I had specifically asked when I ordered but even if I hadn't it doesn't feel good to be treated this way. Like wow. I was appalled. The person at the window had a wrist band using the F word followed by a politician's name. I was offended and asked for the manager. The manager rudely told me that she had the right to wear what ever she wanted. I was then told to leave and they closed the window on me. This store at 5301 Division in Grand Rapids needs to get it together. I called the manager and was hung up on, tried calling back but they had the phone disconnected. I was so agitated that I cursed at them as I left...something I never do. The most disgusting experience I have ever had in any food service situation. Manager was rude and disrespectful. Asked for our drinks back because we ordered one iced and the made it incorrectly and since I just payed twice the amount I was intending on paying I asked for it to be corrected and was hostile about it. She wouldn't give her name and both the employee and the manager were rolling their eyes and so disrespectful. I expect something to be done about this disrespectful manager with the sloppy tattoos on her hands and face and the terrible order taker this morning. Honestly have never felt so disrespected leaving an establishment. If I could leave no stars I would. And I can't even drink my coffee because I feel like they did something to it. Wow. Worst service I have ever experienced in my life. The baristas were extremely rude and I just ordered a coffee and a sandwich! Nothing special just plain- no special requests. They treated me like dirt and I did nothing wrong. Rolled their eyes at me, sighed, wouldn't speak to me. It was so unprofessional. I have never been so appalled in my life. In my opinion they should all be fired. I read a review about the lady with glasses and acne being the worst and I can attest to that statement. She was absolutely nasty to me for no reason. Please find a totally new crew to work that store. I'd suggest totally closing down and firing this crew until you can find better staffing. I will never be back to any biggby. read more

Every time we go to the 54th and Division location we can hear the disdain in the employees voice that they have to make a bagel sandwich. I am not one to complain or speak up about stuff like this but we have been nothing but steady customers and every single time we get food they sound pissed. Other than the lack of customer service the food and drinks are very good. I would also like to add the person that sounded mad over the intercom didn't even have to make the food. She watched the other employees fulfill my order while she ran my card. If that makes you that upset that you have to pass me a couple sandwiches, maybe you shouldn't work at a cafe. read more

I love Biggby Coffee and I always stop in one on my way through Michigan. The staff is really friendly at this location and the coffee was great. I was a little perplexed when I was making conversation and told the barista that I just got off the phone with one of the founders of Biggby and how nice of a guy he is. She had no idea who he was. (His photo was on a magazine affixed to the wall 3 feet from her.) Maybe she was new. Anyway, now she knows who one of the founders is! Haha. read more

Typically I would not write a review unless I have great things to say but my experience was horrible so perhaps I'll share it with the community. Thanksgiving day (11/24/17), I walk in to order a 'micro-to-go' box of coffee to bring home to family, yes they were open. Upon walking in I was greeted by the nice barista up front but when I placed my order she turned to look at whom I would assume to be the owner operator / manager to see if that was okay. I was greeted with a stern "No, we will not be making this for you. We typically take orders over the phone for a 'micro-to-go' and this being 10 minutes until close we will not be making this. Our equipment is cleaned and we will not dirty it up. You can have the rest of the coffee in our pots if you want". Thank you for offering me an alternative but no thanks, I'm not sure how long it's been sitting there nor will it be the amount I need. My apologies as I didn't know you were closing in 10 minutes but shouldn't the store be operational to meet the requests of customers? Having worked in a Biggby coffee shop in the past as a shift leader for many years I know that everything should remain operational to meet the requests of customers until the actual time of close, then you clean up and clock out. You are a coffee shop, what do you serve? Coffee. Does it take time to make? One would assume so. If you aren't making coffee then why are you still open? From my experience, a box of coffee takes LESS than 10 minutes to make, just run two carafes and pour it in the box then all you have to do is clean the filters and carafes then wipe down and you're done. Not to mention the high profit margin from a box of coffee, wouldn't any manager with a sense of customer service/profitability want to SELL a box? Let me break it down for you: - A 5lb bag of coffee costs about $50 from your vendor, maybe more maybe less since the market price fluctuates. - It takes two small scoops of that 5lb bag to make a box of coffee which you sell for about $25 - Take out the cost of items associated with the 'micro-to-go' box and you net a profit to nearly half the cost of another 5lb bag of coffee to put back into your business. Perhaps you were having a bad day. Perhaps you wanted to go home to see family. Trust me, I've been in the food industry before so I know what it's like to almost be free from work. Whatever the situation may be, this review is purely based on the experience I received that day. Here is some advice / coaching if you are the owner / operator behind the counter that told me no: - Your customer did not leave the store in a better mood than when they came in (sound familiar? Isn't that a part of the corporate model?). - You are an entrepreneur and this is a business to generate money, don't turn away a transaction that will net you a profit. Your customers may never come back. - Listen and learn from your online reviews, if you were doing something right then customers wouldn't be complaining and reviews would be higher. - The market/area is saturated with coffee shops, if you say no then that money will be going somewhere else and to another shop that will happily take it. - The Starbucks I visited down the street was horrendously busy and they didn't have a box available but they offered to brew as many cups of coffee I needed without any fuss. Your store was empty, everybody was just standing around, don't you WANT something to do? So what is the take away from this? Customers, if you've read this far then know what you are getting yourself into. Owner/operator, you're heading down the wrong path and if you continue to do so then good luck with your future endeavors. read more

I was SO excited that a Biggby was opening so close to my home. And so far, I'm much less excited. I have been to this branch 7 times now and I have yet to have a good experience. Twice the top wasn't securely on my drink when I went through the drive through leading to me wearing the coffee one time. At another visit they made my Bragel sandwich incorrectly leading to a longer wait time. Yesterday I sat in the drive through line (4 cars) for over 15 minutes because their system was down. I tell ya, I'm losing faith! At least the drinks are good! read more

I was excited to have a location really close but I have to admit I am kind of disappointed in the service and lack of sense of urgency. Even if no one is in line I've waited 5 minutes at the drive thru. The one on Kalamazoo and m6 isn't that way so I'm not sure what the diff is. read more

I partially blame myself for not looking into it prior but I was out with my 8 year old and we stopped in. She has nut allergies and I asked if the hot chocolate was okay for her. The guy looked at the sauce and said "I mean, it doesn't say anything about nuts so it SHOULD be okay." I said, "Does it say anything about being made in a facility with nuts?" His response, "uh, I don't see anything." Well I bought it but didn't let her have it until I looked up the allergy information myself. Turns out, every one of their sauces is made in a facility with peanuts/tree nuts. So I wasted my money but these people need to realize these are serious things and need to actually know their product better. read more

My family and I stopped into Biggby at 5301 S. Division at 2:45 PM on Sunday October 16. There was a sign located on the front counter that stated they were closing at 3PM. I was not greeted when I entered the establishment even though there were 2 female baristas and a blonde male manager behind the counter. I was going to let that go, BUT.....I started ordering my 2 Frozen Mocha Mochas and was abruptly interrupted by the barista, before I could even complete speaking, that they had shut down their blenders for the day. "WHAT????? Are you kidding me??? Your still open and are refusing to make any blended drinks? I realize that your closing at 3 but right now, your still open!" (Do they always stop making blended drinks 15-30 min before close? Is this normal practice for them?) They proceeded to tell me they had a meeting at 3, so they had to clean up early. "Well if that's the case why didn't you close at 2:30 and serve your customers up to that point?" I mean this is a coffee shop, Blended, Iced or Hot! I also noticed that the manager, sometime between my ordering and being told I can't have what I ordered, conveniently disappeared to the back room and left the 2 baristas to deal with it, but he suddenly appeared when the last person left the coffee shop at 2:55 to promptly lock the door behind them (not even 3:00)! I have NEVER went to any business that has done that, I mean really, have you ever gone to Mcdonalds at 10:45 when they close at 11:00 and have they tell you that you can't order any burgers. I will NEVER step foot in this establishment again. read more
