this is the worse bubble tea i have ever had. It just tasted like water. I got the Silky Milky Taro and received jasmine flavored water. My friend got the brown sugar milk tea and that tasted more bland than mine... just like water. The service was okay, the workers were very nice but it took a long time to get our drinks and i'm not sure the staff knew how to make the drinks because they kept talking to one another about the ingredients needed. I love boba and I think this is the best place in town! They have some mixes/combinations you can select or can make your own. I love the different types of boba you can add (my favorite is popping boba). They also have some food like dumplings and chicken + "bubble waffles" (so smaller, light food options). You can have your drinks warm or cold. They also do a punch card system which I like! There is parking out front but it is shared with other businesses. The Chicken and Waffles were burned and dry and the mango,passion fruit,strawberry smoothie boba gave me food poisoning because the fruit tasted brown and expired. I really like this boba spot! Cute interior with different seating areas and even a spot for board games and video games. They have a very good selection of options on the menu but staff was very accommodating with questions (however when I went they were not busy, just to note). They have a case of food and pastries as well. I got a seasonal special offering which was a Sakura tea, which I was told the Sakura syrup was made in house. I got milk tea with regular boba. It was good! Definitely a different unique flavor. My friend got a seasonal special fruit tea and enjoyed it too. My drink was around $8-9 but that's in line with costs elsewhere in my opinion. I wanted to get a bubble waffle and I think Cafe Boba is the only place in the Grand Rapids area that serves them as of spring 2022, so I stopped by after calling to confirm their hours. The space inside is much brighter and cozier than I expected for its unassuming strip mall location - check out the inside photos. There's lots of seating and it seems like a fun, comfortable spot to hang out and play some games. Cafe Boba's specialties include bubble tea (boba), bubble waffles, ice cream, and baked goods. They have a couple savory items like dumplings but I didn't see any sushi available at this time. There are a couple different menu boards which can make things a little confusing, but the employee taking my order was patient and kind. I ordered a bubble waffle with fried chicken and a drizzle of maple syrup, and a boba bella iced tea with fruity jellies. I was told that the bubble waffle would take about 10 minutes. The boba bella iced tea was brought out first. Upon first sip, I realized I should have asked for half or less sweetener if possible. I didn't see that as an option on the menu board, but I should have asked, because it was sooooo overwhelmingly sweet. Nate even said it was pretty sweet, and he has a big sweet tooth! The flavors were tasty, and the jellies were nice and squishy, but it was just way too sweet for me. The bubble waffle was brought out in a cone with a plastic fork. The waffle and the chicken nuggets in it were freshly made and hot. The waffle isn't a mochi texture, it's really just a regular waffle but in the bubble shape. I think I'd prefer a crispier mochi texture, but the waffle was pretty good. I liked the subtle sweetness of the waffle and the sweet and savory combination was tasty. I absolutely love boba, but there aren't many places on the north side of town that have it. I happened to see a post on facebook that Cafe Boba had sakura cups and pink sakura boba tea, so I planned a few errands on the southside of town so we could stop by and try it out. The sweet sakura milk tea is what I ordered, with strawberry popping boba. It was delightful! If it were closer to my house or work I would go back for this so much! I really wanted to get the sakura reusable cup, but couldn't justify the cost. While my drink was delicious I probably won't be back too often just based on location. Along Division is a little bubble tea spot in a small strip mall. Park in the free lot in the front and enter, masked per the signs. (I appreciate safety first.) The staff are friendly and will guide you through the menu. The bubble tea comes in one size and it's the perfect amount. If you do order -- it does take awhile so be patient. Overall taste was good -- mine was slightly over cooked so it was very crispy. Matcha milk tea -- not the greatest I have had, more milk flavor than matcha itself. Lychee bubble tea with popping lychee-- slushie consistency. Little cousin seem to like this. This is my go to Boba spot but this time definitely changed my mind. Not satisfied with the customer service. I bought a few drinks and as soon as I got to my car one of the drinks tipped over. I go inside and wait in line to ask the employee if she could replace it for me. She proceeds to tell me that she is unable to replace it because it wasn't them that made the "mistake", and told me that i would have to purchase another one. She even disregarded me even getting a refund because they weren't the ones at fault. I just personally don't think that's good customer service to customers that are respectful and kind. Took my daughter here as a start to her birthday. She loves boba and we haven't been here yet. As you pull up please try not to judge it based on outside appearance because inside it is absolutely adorable! They have sofas, comfy chairs, bar stools, and tables to choose from for seating. Not to mention a little variety of games to play if you want to hang out for a bit! Girls working this day were very polite. We ordered the bubble waffle w/ chicken and maple syrup. I like to keep it classic, Black Milk tea with black tapioca pearls and almond flavor, MY FAVORITTTTEEEEE! The drink comes perfectly sweetened and full of flavor. It was a rainy, dreary Saturday afternoon in Grand Rapids, and we were driving out of town after attending a vegetarian wedding the night before. Our windshield wipers squeaked as streaks of water were haphazardly scraped off the window of our little red car, but we were braving the weather for a final stop before our 2 hour drive home. We had heard raving reviews of a boba place in GR, an Asian, and therefore, a trustworthy source. As our wet tires maneuvered the potholes in the tiny parking lot of a sketch part of town, we thought, "This oughta be good!" After all, the best places are usually cash-only, hole-in-the-wall, questionably hygienic shops, right? Rolling into a parking spot, we watch a young Asian couple leave the cafe and an energetic panhandler hobble after them. We look left and right, emerge cautiously from the car, and make a jolt to the door with a colorful paper sign reading, "Cafe Boba." Once inside, we head to the counter and the friendly server points us to the cute, tiny menu. My husband spots his favorite and orders the Taro tea. I decide to go fruity with a strawberry banana smoothie, both drinks size large with boba. Our order is up quickly, and we grab boba straws on our way out. We notice that the cups have regular lids, not sealing plastic, uh-oh. Any legit boba place (minus Boba Guys) have sealed lids. Ah well, maybe they're as good as the iconic SF boba shop! We get back safely into our car, lock the doors, and take a swig... Oh dear! Oh my! What the hey?! Um...I thought your Asian friend said this was going to be good?! My syrupy smoothie was overly artificially sweet, and the fuzzy boba was pudgy, overcooked and resembled coughed up snot-balls (even more so than boba normally does). My husband was likewise surprised with his incredibly bland "Taro" tea, which lacked any hint of taro flavor and could be described as a lukewarm, murky gray liquid. He could even tell that the boba was a terrible accident - and he's white! ;) In all, it was a bit of a disappointing pit stop, certainly not what we had hoped for or expected. However, since the other yelp ratings are so high, I'm going to bet that we either came at an off-time (old batch of boba while new one was cookin'), or simply ordered the wrong items. Always a great time with friendly staff. While I still lived in Grand Rapids, you could say I was a regular. You'd find me here most Fridays with the West Michigan Geeks meetup group. If you're uncertain on what to get, don't hesitate to ask the staff what their favorite is, or if there are any new combinations they've recommended. It's through their recommendations that I found my all time favorite avocado and honeydew with popping boba drink (popping boba flavors varied on my mood). I know it sounds weird (avocado drink, at least i thought it did at first) but you'll be glad you tried it! The sushi, udon noodles, and BALT are also worth a try. Boba was good today. At this cafe, it's only good depending on who makes it. It's a cute place to hang out with friends and not super expensive. They also have board games and rockband for people to play. I think this is one of the only boba places in Grand Rapids and it's not too bad. Bless this place. I lived in Irvine, CA where I wouldn't have to go to far for boba. Lollicup, Tapioca Express, or Class 302 was within walking distance...and I had roommates who worked at boba joints. So yes, I would call myself a boba enthusiast and know what I'm talking about. After moving to Holland, MI I figured one day I would eventually travel far to satisfy my craving for tapioca pearls. From the research I did this is the only place DEDICATED to boba teas within a 30 mile raidus from me. The place is clean. There are booths and a few entertainment systems (rockband/guitar hero and board games). I'm used to going to places like these and it being crowded, but I was so thankful there weren't any youths around...the person at the counter had no problem making all (5 drinks and 2 food) orders. But on that note, price is reasonable for what you're paying for. The menu option's alright. There weren't too much milk tea choices, but they're able to mix up regular teas (black/green lychee tea for the win) which is a good plus for anyone running a tea bar. BUT BOBA QUALITY IS A+ They've got stamp cards, too so if you're planning on visiting frequently pick one up. read more

However, with my recent trips, the newest owner (as of summer 2017) apparently is chinese/Hong kongnese and had made the place much better than previous ones. The offered variety of selections from more Americanized flavor milk teas, flavored teas, smoothies, and ice creams to a mix of both unique creations and Asian style drinks. The place has a fairly modern and eastern style decoration. Many plugs available along the wall to study or many couches and tables for social gathering. Place also offers board games you can borrow and free wifi. They recently also offered Hong Kong style egg waffles. Price is fairly cheap/average for drinks. Drinks are ok to good depending on the person making it and who made the bubble that day. Need work on consistency. read more

I love boba tea and smoothies, and was excited to find this little gem so close to home. The avocado smoothie is so fresh and really tastes like avocado, but so smooth, sweet, and creamy- highly recommend. My favorite is the black milk tea with almond and black boba; such a tasty rush of caffeine! Cafe Boba also has an assortment of tasty snacks, including a few simple sushi rolls and dumplings, which my sister and I enjoyed very much. It's a very casual and relaxed atmosphere where one can play games and chat, and it's never excessively packed. The service is prompt and the one girl behind the counter that I have always had is always willing to answer questions if you're not sure what something is. This boba shop hasn't been what it use to be back in the day. But this is the only real boba shop in the area that I can find. Many restaurants serve boba, but this is the only cafe you'll find in Grand Rapids it seems. I've tried many different boba shops in different states and cities like Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Kansas City, East Lansing, and this is the best shop in GR. The boba itself is chewy and doesn't have much sugar flavor it should absorb when it sits. Not sure if the new owners doesn't do that but that's what I crave when I have boba.
