The staff is outstanding... Where can I begin? So many wonderful things to say about this place. The director; Sam Scott is an amazing person. I called them in a panic, after the sudden loss of my mother in-law. I had searched many other funeral homes, and had become discouraged due to finances and most places being strictly about getting their money and sending you out the door. Distinctive Life staff was both professional and compassionate towards our family. Mr. Scott was available to speak with us any time we needed him, and answered any and every question we had. He went above and beyond in helping us plan a beautiful graveside ceremony to lay our mom to rest. It was a very difficult time for us, and he was respectful and sincere; offering words of encouragement and kind thoughts throughout the entire process. I truly believe finding Distinctive Life was a Godsend, and I don't know what we would have done without their help. read more

This is probably the most difficult review I have ever written for the only reason that I tell you my dad passed away. Distinctive life Family Funeral Home took our family 7/29/2019 showed us love support friendship absolute delicate care & respect guided my mom through questions not easily asked or answered & through the pain & tears a beautiful service was given by the two most wonderful people in my parents lives & wrapped it all up in memories of a man I called daddy for 46+ years . Thank you from the bottom of my heart for well.... I am speechless & that doesn't happen to often.. Completely impressed. I was in no way involved with selecting this site and was some what anxious of a small funeral home in a strip mall. I was however completely impressed with the entire venue. The site is great for intimate events. Around 50 people attended and there was ample room. A few people had to stand but the service wasn't long. They have another room onsite to use for receptions, etc. Adequately held tables food, drinks and allowed room for sitting as well as milling about and talking. The funeral director was omni-present and at well over 6 foot tall would be expected to be 'everywhere' - he however was very unobtrusive and blended well into the guests. With no tag others thought he was a guest. He was instantly available if anything was needed. We never expect this type event and even when expected it's a difficult time. I was impressed how well the venue was supportive of every aspect of the family's needs. I would recommend the site in the unfortunate event of their services. read more

Brenda at Distinctive Life is an amazing person. We had a relative pass away in Dallas while here on business. We just lucked out in finding Distinctive Life - and particularly in finding a female Funeral Director. In my opinion, women are just more caring and connecting than men. I gave Brenda a hug each time we left her office - something I wouldn't have felt comfortable doing with a male funeral director I'd just met (even though she did offer me a hand shake the first time - but I'm a hugger.) Brenda helped my family deal with this out of state death, moving everything quickly so that we could get my brother-in-law back to Oregon quickly. Everyone in Texas was so nice and accommodating. And Brenda was at the top of the pack. She walked us through the process and dealt with all our requests. She kept us up-to-date on all the preparations by text and phone. She even arranged for us to pick up our loved one at the Crematory on our way to the airport so we could catch an earlier flight. She was on top of all the legal requirements for flying out with our loved one, the typical time constraints and knew all the right people to call to get things fast-tracked. Our loved one had had a full autopsy and Brenda helped us understand what that meant and what would be needed for us to see him. She was able to do all this quickly and naturally and he looked just like he was sleeping. She also talked to us about traditions for his culture, so that we could help his family grieve (they are from a different culture than we are.) We had our hands full with a number of other issues related to his death - and Brenda allowed us to focus on those issues while she handled preparing for us to take our loved one home. We didn't have a traditional ceremony, so I can't vouch for that aspect of Distinctive Life - but Brenda was able to provide us exactly what we needed, when we needed it most. read more

My grandpa passed away and Lydia helped my family plan the service and cremation. This place is absolutely amazing! They treat you like their own family. She helped us through this process and educated us on all the options. They have a chapel area where we did the service. She went above and beyond! My parents bought a prepaid policy for cremation 10 years ago and we lost my Dad January 2020. With one simple phone call, they handled everything professionally and with dignity. We were so impressed, my husband and I bought policies for us from Masha Pavlov at the Plano location. She's personable, thoughtful and extremely knowledgeable. I attended a funeral at this facility recently and was so impressed with the building and especially Garrett and Alma Rose. They were so helpful to my friends who had the funeral. Mrs.Kenney Kuehler was the most Outstanding funeral Director! Ever!!!!!!! This was my third family funeral and the First time the memorial was not about taking advantage of me financially, during this very difficult time. Mrs. Kuehler had empathy and was extremely professional. Also, they embalmed dad to look natural. When I had my brother embalmed at a funeral home at the intersection of 635 and 75, he didn't look like my brother(age 52), in fact he looked like a bad BOTOX job and the largest Lips I had ever seen. I cant believe I paid such a high price for that terrible service at the other place. So glad I found this funeral home and Mrs. Kuehler is a jewel. We had a lovely intimate family service because we are burying dad out of state. Mrs. Kuehler handles everything. She is very organized and compassionate. She found all of dad's favorite songs for the ceremony. The reception was also a very nice added touch.
