The interior of the Biggs Mansion is absolutely gorgeous. Wood paneled ceilings, wood paneled walls, and hardwood floors. The sales clerks are extremely knowledgeable about cigars and are very helpful. Its nice to sit on a leather couch while within a temperature controlled climate, access to the top nationwide newspapers (NYTImes, USAToday, et al), large flat screen televisions, all while puffing on delicious cigars. Very relaxing atmosphere. Location is easy to get to, its near the "Triangle", if you are driving you will probably have luck with pay-to-park on N. Dearborn or just west of N. Dearborn. I can envision this location becoming an event destination. read more

I won't return to Biggs for cigars again due to a recent change in their "member vs customer" policy. You used to be able to buy a cigar and smoke it on the south side of their patio. The north side was members only. No problem. They recently changed their policy to both patios are members only. So the only place to smoke cigars is inside in their nice but small smoking room. Not an ideal option on a sunny summer day. As a result of these changes, I will not be buying or visiting Biggs again. Additionally I have found the staff to be aloof and not terribly welcoming. Frankly I'd rather buy a cigar at Up Down in Old Town, a great shop and great staff, support them and smoke it at Erie Cafe on their patio sipping a gin & tonic. Biggs blew it! read more

UPDATE SINCE LAST REVIEW: Visited Bigg's Mansion two years after previous horrible experience. Since then, there has been new management and I can say that's definitely a welcomed improvement! The place looks much better, there's a better layout, the selection is MUCH better and the staff are certainly better. Overall, great job! Absolutely the finest cigar lounge in Chicago! From the selection, accessories, lounge seating/areas, staff & location are all top notch! Jason, manager on staff, is very knowledgeable & accommodating. Memberships & day passes are available for the top two lounge floors, that have great seating, flat screens, bar/glassware/ice area for if members/day pass patrons would care to bring in a libation. Call for more details. Nice patio area, out front, for summertime people watching. Open late, which is nice, considering it is Chicago! I was in town for a formal event over the weekend with my girlfriend and we stopped by Biggs Mansion for a couple hours, and I cannot say enough good things about it to everyone I meet! The cigar selection here is absolutely phenomenal. It's not a large selection by any means and truthfully features roughly 50 or 60 different brands and 'models' of cigars (including a wide range of humidors), but they had in stock some of the rarest and most sought after cigars in the world, namely the Atabey and the Opus X: The Lost City Double Robusto. The smoking room was cozier and more stylishly decorated than words can describe, and if you opt to become a member you have access to 2 huge additional floors of smoking rooms and bars that are perfect for any occasion from business meetings to leisure smoking with friends. I highly recommend Biggs' own Merchant house blend made by Principle Cigars that was not only sweet with hints of molasses, a touch of cedar and notes of cocoa, but also good until the very VERY last smoke. I had nothing but a stub the width of my thumb left and still the flavors were rich and the cigar had no acidity at all. Show me where I can buy these cigars online and I'll buy a whole box! Biggs Mansion. What a great place to grab a smoke in the area. It's conveniently located in the Gold Coast, a part of Chicago (one of many parts) that is rich in history and very upscale. The first time I stumbled upon this glorious mansion was 4th of July, 2015. I came here with a buddy to grab a smoke and celebrate the birth of America with a smoke along Lake Michigan. Being new to the hobby, Peter was very helpful and gave me many recommendation for exactly what I wanted in a smoke. They have an endless amount of great choices in a smoke from different countries. The outdoor patio is a perfect way to enjoy a cigar and people watch. The lounge area downstairs is a great place to watch a Cubs or a Blackhawks game and converse with new people. I also like the fact that they have several different newspapers for their customers to read. The lounge is furnished with really comfortable leather lounge chairs and plenty of side tables with ashtrays. You can also bring non-alcoholoic beverages or purchase Voss water at the register. That being said, I was there last night and the staff informed me that the outdoor patio is now reserved for locker holders only. It was not like this before. A locker at Biggs costs about $2,000 a year. Not bad, but they did increase the price. For non-locker holders, you can purchase an all day pass which is $100, I believe. It gives you access to the upstairs area where there are pool tables, poker tables, bar with barware and you can bring your own drinks. All in all, I highly recommend Biggs Mansion, a personal favorite. It is a great place to bring friends/clients and relax and talk. It's also a great place to meet new people and possibly a new client! read more

In a smoke free city, you might be looking for a place where you can chill out on a leather chair and smoke a cigar. If that were the case, this is your place. We were in from out of town, so we weren't into a membership or anything, but just picked out a cigar from the case and sat for a smoke. The staff was super helpful in selecting a cigar from a tremendous selection, and didn't try to sell us on something crazy expensive or anything. Once we sat down, it was a great place to just chill, have a nice conversation, and smoke a cigar. It was appropriately quiet for a conversation, although football was also playing on the TV that night. Had it been a little warmer, the patio might have been nice but "winter is coming" so to speak. Maybe I'll try to swing by again if I make it to Chicago in the summer. read more

Hands down absolutely the best cigar joint in Chicago! They have a nice range of cigars, the staff is absolutely amazing & and the location is great! They have indoor and outdoor seating. Was recommended to Biggs by a friend, so had to check it out. Arrived to find a huge old mansion with a few folks sitting around outside enjoying cigars. Went inside and found a very pleasant lounge with a medium size selection in their humidor. Bought a few sticks, smoked one with wifey. I read there are upper levels for members, but the guy working was not real talkative about options or anything really. So we enjoyed our cigars and left. Might return, but will check out other lounges in the area first. read more

Without a doubt, this is the best place to smoke a cigar in the City of Chicago. Biggs is a 15,000 square foot mansion with many rooms to break off into. Superior selection of cigars and a tremendous ventilation system. Unlike a lot of cigar lounges, the furniture is first class and comfortable. There is also an outside patio for smoking. One great feature is you are bordered by three fantastic restaurants. Street parking is available along with valet parking. read more

What a cool place! I am not a member, but my older brother is and I got to get a tour. For a place where you can smoke cigars inside, it is very nicely ventilated. My favorite was the paisley carpet that lines the beautiful wooden staircase. Very old school, Victorian style mansion. Awesome place. Quiet and classy with a good selection of cigars. My only issue.. I couldn't get a drink. My god. Biggs is perfect. I write this review while sitting in a leather chair near the fireplace on the 2nd floor. I have been here for hours via a day pass, since my flight to Boston was canceled (giving me a bonus day in Chicago). What I wouldn't give to have a place like Biggs Mansion in Boston! The cigar selection is vast. The prices are perfectly reasonable. The staff is knowledgeable, professional, and accommodating.
