We stopped at Biguns on our way back to our hotel from visiting friends. Our plan was to grab some bbq to put on our nightly salad. I had been so disappointed while driving they North Carolina and staying in South Carolina that we really hadn't seen any bbq. Every place we saw was closed. So when we saw Biguns we had to stop. It smelled good from outside which was a good sign. We god the great big combo which is four meats and two sides we also bought two of their sauces to add to our collection of condiments (always a conversation piece) The meat all of it was amazing! Smoked to falling apart. The meat falling off the bone. I usually am not a fan of baked beans but these weren't overly sweet and had onions in them. I love fried okra. Yum! What a treat! While in town on business I was recommended to try this BBQ place by multiple locals. It did not disappoint. I ordered the pork platter with two sides (slaw and potato). It also came with some of the best corn bread I've had in a long while. The pulled pork just melts in your mouth and the BBQ original sauce is sweet with a little tang. I could eat their pulled pork everyday of the week and always ask for seconds. I did not leave hungry and be sure to get some bread pudding to go! Fried apple pie for dessert. Everything was really good. I'm not a BBQ snob, but I know good BBQ. Often you get good pork, but the ribs are just okay. Not the case here. Everything was moist and delicious. Brisket was some of the best I've had. Tried all the sauces and recommend Thick& Smokey. Others were good too. I ordered different sides fir my food that I never got a picture of, but the sides were boooomb!! The macaroni wasn't mushy, it definitely had that macaroni texture and the cheese was really good on it! Was white cheese. I loved the beans for sure. The mashed potatoes were amazing too! I also had ribs, but I didn't live them, don't get me wrong, they were good! My boyfriend loved them. The gravy made the mashed b potatoes taste Even better, I could have ate that by itself. My boyfriend had ribs and pulled Pork with fries. He thought the pulled pork was good, but not great. The ribs to him were very tender and he loves the mustard bbq sauce. Both of us thought the corn bread was a little dry so we didn't love that. The apple pie And icecream were AMAZING! I could t stop eating it. It was so crispy and gooey on the inside and the icecream paired amazingly with it. Ugh.... just thinking in about it makes me want more. Some suggestions we recommend are; get two or more of each side if you love sides. They have plenty of places to sit indoors and outdoors and they also have a drive-through. Potato salad was excellent and fried okra was OK. The chicken was juicy and not dry at all as well as ribs. We only stopped by for pork skins, and they are very good, but like everything, the price has gone up. We've had takeout BBQ several times, and it was always good. But, I don't like standing in line to place an order and then another line to pay and then wait on your order. I have been to Big Uns twice. Each time I ordered the brisket sandwich and it was good. The meat had a great smoky flavor. It would have been perfect with just a little more fat and char. I had the tater salad on one visit and it was solid. I also had pecan pie and my wife went for nanner puddin.' The pecan pie had a nice flaky crust. We stopped by around 1 on Sunday afternoon on our way back to Atlanta from a weekend in the mountains, and it was absolutely packed with a huge line, so we opted for the drive-through and ate in the car. The staff was really helpful at keeping things moving despite the crowd, and were all wearing face masks. The people in line however, were not - not a single person wearing a mask, no one with any concept of 6 feet. Ick. We waited for a bit in the car but our food was brought out and exactly as we ordered - 2 Bigun pulled pork plates with 2 collard greens, green beans, mac n' cheese and a small Brunswick stew. The stew definitely stole the show - the veggies tasted just like they do out of the can which is a nice change from the floating-in-grease way some are served but a bit meh. The mac n' cheese was also decent but underwhelming. Pork was smokey and tasty but pretty skimpy for being the bigger size. Overall a decent choice for a highway stop but not mind-boggling. read more

I came through the drive through tonight (I absolutely love that option by the way) and realized for some reason I've never reviewed them on Yelp! That's shocking, because we eat here at a minimum one time a week. I'm a huge fan of BBQ so I've tried every local BBQ joint in all the surrounding towns. I'm also currently pregnant, so that makes me even more picky than normal. I can honestly say, I don't know why you'd go anywhere but Biguns. I'd rather just not eat BBQ than to eat anywhere other than here; I love it THAT much. Their Brunswick stew is absolutely unmatched. I usually get the pork plate with dirty fries (if you haven't tried them, it's a must) and mac and cheese. Their macaroni is unique and my favorite of any restaurant I've had in this style! Of course I always have to add a cup of stew also! They have the "good ice" and wonderful sweet tea. The employees are always extremely nice and helpful. We've been at least 30 times in the last year (not even kidding about the once a week thing lol) and we've never had a complaint. They're very efficient and your food comes out in a timely manner, even at rush times. I can't recommend them enough! read more

WOW. We found this place during our trip to Ellijay, and boy are we glad we did. We wanted to try some delicious BBQ, and this place hit the spot. When we arrived, we were instantly greeted by staff, and since it was our first time here, they offered some recommendations. We ordered quite a few items to be able to experience what Bigun's had to offer. We did a 3 meat combo and had the smoked brisket, ribs, and pork which were really good! My absolute favorite was the redneck lasagna made with their homemade mac and cheese and Brunswick stew and parmesan cheese. TRUST me on this, ORDER IT. I am quite sad Bigun's isn't close enough, so I can have this more often. I love me some baked beans and the ones from here did not disappoint one bit! The fried okra was perfectly fried, and it was not a plate of grease, which was terrific. The only thing we did not care too much for was the collard greens. For dessert, we tried banana pudding, and it was the perfect ending to our lunch. The service was impeccable, and the food was just excellent. I would highly recommend this place. read more

Oh my goodness we stopped here after our scenic drive down the Occoee River. We both ordered a pulled pork plate. The okra was perfect crispy tasted like home, the Mac and Cheese had white cheese on it with huge elbow pasta. We had 1 piece of Texas toast it was large toasted with butter! Now let's get down to the Brunswick Stew. It wasn't a bowl of mush it was so good you could taste the tomatoes, onions, corn etc had lots of flavorful juice, and plenty of meat! This was the star of the show. The bathrooms were so nice never seen such a nice big bathroom 4-5 stalls a place to change tons of beautiful flowers and pictures there were 4 toilet paper dispensers there was hand sanitizer that smelled very nice everywhere . There was covered outdoor seating and a outdoor place to order should you choose the place is quite nice. We ordered water with lemon. They provide lemon juice packets.
