We enjoyed a lovely brunch today at Woodbridge Tavern. Our server, Gabrielle, was exceptional. She was friendly, accommodating, and attentive. We needed a place for a calm, quiet meal and the Tavern was the perfect spot. It was a rainy, gloomy day, but the restaurant was warm and cozy. I started with their Bloody Mary and it was nice and spicy. I enjoyed the omelette with cheddar, bacon, tomatoes, fresh jalapeños, and it was delicious. It was served with toast and delicious breakfast potatoes. Husband ordered the simple breakfast with 3 eggs, potatoes, biscuit, and a side of gravy. The first thing that hit me when I walked in was the size of the plates. Be warned. Plates that big come with food that big! Lol. A very creative menu with quite a few interesting items on it. I always looks for something a little different and out of the ordinary. So when I seen the "Cowboy Up" I looked no further. lol Real country fried potatoes (cubed and crispy). A country fried steak covered with pepper gravy, 2 eggs and some seasoned / grilled veggies. As Bruce Willis said in Die Hard, Yippee-ki-yay... (yes I cut the quote short lol). It took me a while but I was able to rope and ride my way through it until the plate was clean. That and a real tasty Bloody Mary had me full for the rest of the day. Tried this place out for a birthday dinner while at the cabins. Driving up in the evening is a beautiful view as the restaurant sign is lit coming over the bridge. The inside has a bar and is a bit on the smaller side, but still nice. The staff was great! Everyone was welcoming and the bartender especially was a vibe. The Brussels were good, the cauliflower was larger than I expected but had a nice fry. I had the salmon which came out cold and could have used some salt. I also had the cobbler but it has a spicy taste I couldn't quite catch. Mainly everyone said the food needed salt and wasn't hot. One of us had chicken which was a small portion and dry. We came here for Sunday brunch based on the reviews on Yelp, this restaurant did not disappoint. The food - was great! I had the omelette- fluffy eggs, andouille sausage, goat cheese, tomatoes. My partner had the burger and said,"Good quality meet. More juice than grease." Service was great. Quick to refill our drinks. Friendly and positive energy from all the staff. First visit, stopped here on a Saturday for lunch. We ordered the Coca-Cola Pig and the Gobbler sandwiches. Both were great. The Coca-Cola BBQ sauce was sweet with a lot of flavor although the pork itself was a bit dry. The gobbler was packed with meat and the avocado and granny smith apples worked very well with sandwich. What a special place! They recently renovated and it's precious inside with such a beautiful view. (The rooms in the in have been upgraded as well) we were greeted with the friendliest of welcomes, Lisa was super friendly. We started off with a starter called Cannon Balls which are dates wrapped in bacon Yes, everything is good with bacon They were really good especially with the mustard. I ordered a side salad and was a bit disappointed bc the lettuce was wilted. And then the wait For dinner was super long but worth the wait. We both got the trout and it was hot and delicious. Encrusted with pecans and a chili pepper honey sauce. The Parmesan risotto was delicious and cooked perfectly. With a side on squash, zucchini and onion. The portion size was just right, but I did take half home. We shared a dessert of apple strudel which was good, could have been hotter and apples could have been peeled but it was a sweet ending to a nice dinner. Lisa did get busy (think she was the only one serving) and needed water refills. (Pet peeve of mine) we also paid our bill and just left, no thanks. Either way, we are super happy with the restaurant and really want to return and maybe grab a room at the inn. It would be a lovely date night spot, but we enjoyed just passing through town. They have a bar, seating outside, and brunch on Sat/Sun. We loved the history and checked out their cooking events on their website. We will return! read more

For lunch today we reserved for 10-12 but during our meeting the count ended at 21. The Tavern quickly set up a long table with a wonderful selection of soup, sandwiches or salad we could order. We tried this today for brunch. Arrived about 1pm and the place was full but clearing out. We waited a few minutes for a table. The brunch options were really interesting and affordable. Wife got the French toast that comes on French bread. She loved it. Two of us got the biscuit and it was amazing. The eggs were really good. Like really good. And the biscuit was more dense than a flaky style one. We really enjoyed our time and service. Will be coming back again soon. read more

I've never been here but, have heard of it for a while now. I am wise enough to know that 4.1 stars on Yelp is a strong indicator of a good solid restaurant and if you experience something far worse, there's something specific off. That was the case with our visit today (10/12/25) for Sunday Brunch. We were a party of nine celebrating three family birthdays. I made reservations a week or so ago as we had folks driving as far as 90 miles to attend. Our reservations were for 1 PM. We arrived about 1245 and were immediately seated and that's where things really began to deteriorate rapidly. We waited for about 20 minutes on our server to greet our table. They were not overly busy as there were definitely some open tables in the restaurant. When the server greeted us, his first words were, "it's going to be about 45 minutes to an hour once you place your order for food". I thought perhaps I misunderstood as I just thought that was a very strange way to greet our table. And I asked him to repeat himself and he said the same thing again. I said are you telling us this just in case we want to leave now? He said yes because the kitchen is really backed up. There are only two people in the kitchen. Well, considering that we had planned this well in advance and folks drove a long distance to get there, we decided to go ahead and stick it out. We went ahead and ordered our drinks and food immediately while we had them at our table. It took us another 15 to 20 minutes to get our drinks. And it definitely took the full hour to get our food. Additionally, as the food came out. It came out for two or three people at a time at our table and it took about 15 to 20 minutes for all the food to come once it started arriving. Additionally, that entire time we had no silverware and were told they did not have any clean. Additionally, one of the family members order a coffee with cream and he responded. We may not have any cream and I said well milk will be fine for him. About 10 minutes later, he came back with a glass of milk. I will say the food was average. Nothing really to complain about but nothing that was over the top. I got the omelette and the ingredients were plentiful, but the cheddar cheese had not melted at all inside the omelette. Their biscuits were not homemade, simply frozen and baked(i.e. like Pillsberry, etc.). Numerous times our beverage glasses were empty and we had to stop and ask for refills... Not once were refills offered to us or were they brought to us as we had to ask every single time. We've really hoping to try dessert, but considering our experience in the length of time, the meal had taken... We decided to skip that. We didn't notice that as other people were coming in, the hostess was telling them of the long delays for food and many people were leaving. I wish the hostess had told us that when we checked in because we may have decided at that point to have gone elsewhere. However, we were pretty vested as we had waited 20 minutes just for our server to come to the table to inform us. One final striking thing was there was never a visit by anyone else at our table (a manager, etc.) to come by and apologize. Also, of course we paid full price on the menu. It was very clear that they should've just closed the restaurant down due to staffing and notified all the folks that had reservations of the issue in advance. It's a bit baffling that they thought it was wise to try to stay open and serve guest when they were working deliberately to turn people away and made it an excruciating process for those who decided to stay. Of course, things are going to go wrong and will never always be perfect. However, I'm a big believer in that. It's how you recover from challenging situations is what's very telling. Unfortunately, there was just absolutely no attempt to recover at all during our visit. I'm not sure we will ever go back again read more

Apparently we cannot ask to replace home fries with potato chips because of tariffs LOL! We have to pay for the item we don't want and for an extra side of what we do want. They forgot that without satisfied customers, they don't have a business, hope this helps them make appropriate changes to keep customers coming back! Don't insult our intelligence blaming tariffs for not changing one side for another. Just to make it clear, I was perfectly fine with being up charge for the potato chips, but they tried to force me to pay for what I didn't want as well. read more

The food is good, we have had several different dishes & they have all been good but they need to up their portion size especially in the greens dept. I ordered a spinach salad with salmon, it was delicious BUT there wasn't enough spinach. I thought for a minute "is there a tariff on spinach & lettuce" ???? Our friends ordered salads & again ZERO on the lettuce portion & what's up with the micro cheap croutons ? I'm sure you all can purchase something more appetizing. read more

Awful! Came on my birthday. We were seated. 15 mins before anyone even spoke to us re drinks. Placed order for starters and soup. 1 hour to get just the soup cold! Also don't ask for anything to be altered or added. The Chef refuses to do anything and yells at the wait staff. We left and ate Chinese which was so good and a hell of a lot faster. My husband and I stopped by passing thru Jasper on our way to Blue Ridg. We stumbled upon this place because there was a cute little wooden bridge in front, we decided to drive across to see what was on the other side. We have our dogs with us, they approved for them to sit on the deck with us. The service was outstanding and the food was even better. I had the market bowl, it exceeded my expectations. After visiting the Tate House we drove over to downtown Jasper to try this particular restaurant. The unique setting and good ratings helped our decision. The interior was quaint and comfortable and I enjoyed reading about the history of the tavern. Service was prompt and friendly and we had no trouble getting refills. My entrée was roast beef sandwich special, although I found the horseradish sauce a bit weak. But the spicy mustard helped to compensate and give it that little needed kick. *Update: we have been back twice now and both times were excellent! We had a different waitress and this made all the difference. Seems there are just 2 one for each half of the restaurant. One is very sweet and engaging while the other is just lacking, somewhat cold in fact (judging by our previous experience and observations) The food was great, although the only thing we've ordered that wasn't the best was the steak. A little too chewy for our taste. We were expecting more of a seared steak like the one we had at the Mulehouse. Peach cobbler to finish it off perfectly! Also brought our own wine from a local vineyard and the corkage fee is only $15! read more

We came for an early dinner on New Year's Eve. The food was very tasty, especially the steak and prime rib. Only issue was that the cocktails were extremely lackluster that evening, but it was likely because they were short staffed on new year's eve. ambiance was great. very cute historical restaurant. the waitress and hostess were kind. sadly, was very disappointed on the food. i ordered the simple breakfast. usually you can never go wrong with grits eggs bacon and a biscuit. it's possible when they make all the ingredients for this in the beginning they may be fine... it's the reheat i think. my biscuit was hard on the outside. my bacon tasted old. my grits lukewarm. my eggs were fresh though the chef doesn't quite have over medium down. i ordered an extra side of sausage hoping i just chose wrong with the bacon. it came back to me within three minutes. it seemed it was taken out of a cold container, put on the grill for a moment then served. it came to me oily... some parts lukewarm and one bite completely cold. my husband had more success with his apple chicken dish. he said it was warm throughout and said the pancakes were good. very cute place, just think they should reconsider their breakfast prep. maybe this was just an off morning. read more

This place is awesome! Highly recommended. There is an old wood bridge over a railway leading to the location that may look a little dicey but can take up to 4 tons. There are other streets that get there if you don't like the bridge or are driving something bigger than 4 tons. The interior has a few free standing tables that seat up to 4, a few that seat 2, and some tables that have chairs on one side and a long bench with cushions on the other that backs up to the window to deck which has more tables. The deck has some tables with and some without umbrellas. There is an upper deck too which we didn't go to on our first visit. We both got different hamburgers and they were incredible. Chef Dawson is very creative. I got the spicy peach hamburger. I have never had peaches on a hamburger and after that one I questioned several of my life choices. Loved it! When you come here try something out of your comfort zone. Check the hours before you arrive because they do close after lunch and open again for dinner and have different hours. You can make reservations. They have a brunch on Saturday and Sunday and the menu is different for each day. We made reservations for the next night before even leaving the place. Food was delicious, service was terrible. It was not our waitress' fault, she was very sweet and was trying her best. The restaurant was either poorly staffed or did not have good organization in terms of seating for their waitstaff. We arrived at 6:15 on a Sunday and did not have a server come by our table for 30 minutes. We received waters 15 minutes later, and the cocktails we ordered another 15 minutes after that. When we went to order, we were informed that they were already out of 3 menu items, 2 of them being the only chicken dishes on the menu. When it came time to pay, we were charged for a cocktail that we never received. This restaurant has so much potential, but unfortunately is falling short due to its management. read more
