Look Im a trained bike mechanic (been volunteering for 20 years downtown Cleveland) Ive met Mike, The owner, his wife. 2 other people one of which I would assume is the service manager. (A tall guy that was super friendly who did a little tweaking to my dropper post on my brand new bike.) I can tell you they probably could have just fixed it by trimming the cable on the dropper post but no, They took it out and replaced it with new. They "asked" me if I they could take 30 minutes and do the job right. OF COURSE! Im just glad I can get it worked on now and not have to drive back home and come get it. These guys were really concerned that I have the best experience. I said it before Ill say it again. I passed 5 bike shops near me in Lakewood to come here. It was worth it. Ive been in there 3 times and not once were they pushy with buying other stuff either. That kind of shocked me. Really friendly staff. Happy owners. I had a really great experience. read more

When I found cheaper pedals & wanted to return it to the ones I bought, just the day after I bought them, the older gentleman got an attitude with me & told me I was not allowed to make returns anymore. Totally unfair & his rude tone & demeanor was a major turn off. I had only made two returns within 90 days & each time it was within the 30 day return policy. I grew up having a bike shop just blocks away, which I bought two bikes from over the years. I guess I was spoiled. Since that shop closed, Bike Authority is now the closest bike shop to my home. I was riding my hybrid when I hopped off a curb and the wheel started wobbling. I had it repaired at a bike shop in Tremont, but the wobbling started again after just a couple rides. So I decided it was time for some new wheels. Also, something in my drive train was clicking. I thought it was the bottom bracket, so I went to Bike Authority. I got a quote for two new wheels and a bottom bracket with installation. The estimate was $194 total. So I had them do the work. I dropped my bike off Saturday and it was ready by the following Friday. The rims are really nice and the clicking in the bottom bracket is gone. I'm glad I put these upgrades on my bike. Now, I am thinking of upgrading my crank and getting a new chain this summer. I will be sure to go to Bike Authority again. They also have a great selection of Cervelo bikes. They're expensive, but I'd love to have one. They have a good selection of road bikes, mountain bikes, hybrids, and I also saw a couple cyclocross bikes. Their primary brand is Cervelo, but I saw a couple Trek bikes as well. Can't wait to hit the trails this summer. Recommend! read more

Although it took a bit longer then expected they certainly made it up to me with some extras. That was most appreciated . I would strongly recommend them. yup, definitely going to continue coming here for all things technically related to my bike. I have a cross-country dual-suspension bike that I had started using more regularly for my daily commute. Needless to say, my racing saddle just wasn't cutting it anymore, lol I went here and the guys were amazing, asking me how I had my bike set up, they came out to my truck to look at it and then they suggested a fantastic new saddle for me, and my bum has been thanking them ever since! I brought in my baby for a well-deserved tune-up and told them to do whatever they needed to make sure she was in good shape. At most stores, this would mean they would strip it down even if it didn't need it so they could charge you the max price, these guys? Nope, they did exactly what needed to be done and that was it. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5? It took 6 days for the tune-up, boooo, but I pretty much understand that it's because everyone is going there and they are so busy (i.e. they're good!). They have fittings and will gear bikes towards your needs, I'll definitely be coming back when I'm ready for my tri-bike. Only downfall of the store? Not much "soft" merchandise....I'll have to go to another store to get some shorts and cold-weather cycling gear since they don't have much for ladies. Cabin fever has long set in. There's no denying the grueling winters and long, wet and cold springs that NE Ohio has to endure. But that's what makes looking forward to spring/summer so much more fulfilling. If everyday was just as nice as the previous, it would be boring. And without seasons, we wouldn't appreciate the good weather as much. Yesterday, it was our first unseasonable warm day in Cleveland. Windows open, BBQ's blazing, people doing outdoorsy things. Finally a sign that spring is here! On Sunday, the weather set the mood. The next order of business was to get outside and enjoy the sun while it lasted. It was time to dust off the old bike and take it in for a tune-up. One issue though. It needed a serious tune-up and possibly a new seat, breaks and handles. It was a tired bike from my youth. I've had it for over 15 years now. After strapping it in the rig, we headed to a cycle store, well recommended by Yelper P*@&# % by the name of Bike Authority. Inside, the place isn't overwhelming. It doesn't have a ton of brands either. 3 or 4 brands with multiple styles of each brand ranging from entry to expert. Soon after we entered, a knowledgeable staff member asked to assist us. After giving her an idea that I was looking to get into biking more and would have to either A) get a major tune-up on an existing bike, or B) look into purchasing a new one, the helpful girl walked me through my options. She wasn't overbearing or full of industry speak that I didn't understand either. Very helpful, very down to earth. In the end, I decided to upgrade my bike and put my old Schwinn from my teenage years on Craigslist. The store also had a sale that ended that day which helped sway my decision. My purchase? A 2011 Trek 3900. A hybrid street/trail bike with a 21" frame, hard tail (front suspension) and disc breaks. They didn't have a 21" on the floor, but had it in the back and offered to assemble it for me in 30 minutes. Perfect! A quick step out for lunch at nearby Swenson's and we'd be back to pick up my new toy. Once home, I broke in the new puppy. Road nice. Can't wait to get out more this summer! Oh, another thing: any bike purchase from Bike Authority comes with a 1 year maintenance plan. Bring your new bike in for as many tune-ups as need be within the first year for free. An extended plan is also offered for a modest price. Also with the purchase, you're eligible for 10% off any bike accessory for a year. Not a bad deal at all. Happy biking all! read more

I am new to the area and recently drove my 2008 Cervelo P3 into a parking garage with it attached to my roof rack. UGH! I went to a few local (Chagrin Falls) bike shops who told me about Bike Authority as a Cervelo certified dealer. I showed up with my destroyed bike and they not only got me fitted for a brand new P2 the same day, but they offered to part out my destroyed bike and do all the eBay work for me! The owner, Sherman, has been so great. After a week on my P2, I changed my mind, (for many reasons) called Sherman and said I want back on a P3 with very specific requirements. Only two days later, he had my bike ordered from Toronto and completely fitted it to my specifications. It was ready to ride! I have been on a time-crunch because of a half ironman in 2.5 weeks and he completely pulled through for me after the most gut-wrenching parking garage experience ever! The team was great- I went in for multiple fittings, they were responsive, they emailed me updates along the way, sent me damage reports for my insurance company etc. Would highly recommend and will be going back for as long as I live in the Cleveland area. read more

OK - I paid more than Trek's list for the bike (I learned that after the fact) but I'd rather overpay a local bike store than a giant chain and they did spend a couple of hours with me. Went to Bike Authority for a bike fit on a new to me road bike and Mike took plenty of time with me to explain everything in a language I could understand and the result was my bike was far more comfortable than before and I felt like it was well worth the expense. Several weeks later I returned to buy a bike computer and Brandon helped me out and provided a ton of info/advice and offered his help to set it up if needed. I hate to say it, but I expected better. I've been wanting to get my girlfriend a bicycle as a present for a long time now. This past weekend I visited Bike Authority with her after discussing my plan. I did some reading on the internet and it seems Women's Specific bikes are generally recommended for females. We went in the store and were immediately greeted by employees however when asked about Women's Specific Designed bikes we got the deer in headlights look. We were asked about what kind of riding we want to do. Mostly Pavement/bike/tow path but must have ability for some off roading when desired, even if rare. Explanations were not very clear, and information conflicted with was read online and told at other stores. I really have to wonder what's real and what's not. We have tried, twice, to do business here. I say "tried" because both times we were treated so poorly that we opted to take our business elsewhere. I'm not sure who answers the phones at Bike Authority (Broadview Road, Broadview Heights), but they definitely need a few lessons in customer service. Even the simplest questions are met with disdain. My husband called this morning to ask if they could adjust the handle height on my bike; a five minute fix that my husband cannot do because of rheumatoid arthritis. The "gentleman" that answered his call was SO rude. From now on we will be dealing with Old Station Cycle in Brecksville. read more

Second to none when in comes to service. One of the few shops in the Cleveland area that I trust to work on my gear. Rudy, the service manager, has more experience than most other shops combined. I have been going to Bike Authority since 2009, and the crew has always been more than helpful in addressing any mechanical issues I have encountered, along with giving me advice and being well stocked for taking on my own repairs. I've been a Bike Authority customer for 12 years. Between my wife and I, we've bought about a half dozen bikes, ranging from high end carbon tri bikes to a starter bike for our 5-year old. We've come in countless times--driving from the east side--for service, fittings, parts/accessories/wheels and clothing. In all these visits, I've gotten to know owner Sherman and his staff very well. Sherman started the business himself in the 90s and cares deeply about customer service. These days, with competition from box stores and online sellers, you don't see many local small businesses going for two-plus decades without great customer service. There are a number of local bike shops in Cleveland. It's a good situation: for buyers it means more choices. For cyclists it means we have a growing and vibrant cycling culture. What's really important to me, though, is the relationship. I know them. They know me and know what I like and need. Easy as that. If you're a new cyclist, look for a relationship, wherever you can find it. I don't think you'll be disappointed at Bike Authority. read more

This shop is filled with snooty bicycle jerks. Their service and interaction with me as a customer has been robotic. It makes me want to open my own shop and demonstrate what customer service should be. The final straw was when I called the shop to see if I could get a fit... since they didn't have the bike I wanted or size I bought it from a place in Georgia. Their website says that do fitting for bike not purchase from their store from Sept 16 to March 1st. Well what is today? November 14th. I call and they guy was pretty short with me and said they only did fittings for bike bought in their shop. Now how dumb is that? When you can get a decent supply of bikes due to supply chain issues and you don't want to build a customer relationship with someone that will likely bring you more service business. You guys shouldn't own a bike shop if you can't see the value in service. Sad to see quite frankly. read more

I though about this review for a bit, but then came to the conclusion that I will never buy anything from this shop again, and I would not encourage anyone to purchase from this shop. So, while I can acknowledge that they carry nice equipment, and it seems that their technicians are competent I think the rating is fair. My Story: I bought a Felt F75x in August 2012. Not a top of the line bike, but still ~$2k when everything was added on including some extras and tax. I bought the bike to commute about 12 miles round trip. During the first week both tubes popped, and the rear derailleur went WAY out of adjustment to the point of not really being able to shift. While my sales experience was great, when I took it back to address what in retrospect was a faulty batch of tubes and a derailleur cable that was not tightly attached to the derailleur, they treated me like I was a complete schmuck. I just chalked it up to an isolated experience as my sales experience was pretty good. Fast forward two months to my final fitting, and about 200 miles later I was having a few issues. I was getting sort of a grinding noise from the freehub, and the chain was kinking. The tech was able to determine that there was a manufacturing defect in the chain that was causing it to kink, and the tech said, "yeah I hear the same noise in the freehub." I was expecting that they would just replace the chain considering the warranty, but instead they just popped in three used master links. Although it looked totally shabby, it worked. While Mike (the person doing the fitting) was great, I was again treated like a schmuck by the service person. Fast forward six more months, and about 1K miles later I had resigned myself to doing all of my routine maintenance myself as I didn't really feel like being treated poorly after I drive 20 miles to drop off my bike and also pick it up. I swapped out the chain for a better one, got pretty good at re-tensioning and straightening my rims, however, I was starting to have what I considered major issues with both my headset and bottom bracket bearings freezing up. I took it in, and got a VERY large quote to fix it. (~$500). This is the conversation I had with the person I was dealing with (not sure if it was a tech or the manager) went something like this: Me: Isn't this bike under warranty? BA: Yes, but these are wear items. Me: How is this possible when I am taking great care of this bike? BA: Nothing I can do for you, you should call Felt. REALLY, SERIOUSLY!?!?!?!? Nothing you can do. You could stand behind your products. I called Felt and posted on their Facebook page. The Felt rep gave me some free stuff, and was very nice, but I still can't get over the fact that Bike Authority treated me like such garbage. I decided to try one last time, and I suddenly found the root of the issue. I don't look like a biker. I am not cool. I did not just prep my bike for the latest triathalon, or century ride. I look like an overweight middle aged guy who rides ~10 miles a month. In actuality, I ride ~250 a month in the summers, and commute year round. After watching the interaction a person had picking up their ride for a triathalon the coming weekend, and my own that day and previous days I came to the conclusion that I was not cool enough to be a Bike Authority customer. Since then, I learned to do all of my own work, bought all the tools I needed, and have since built up three new bikes buying parts off the internet. I would have been more than happy to pay the premium and have a bike shop do all this for me, but I had had enough. with the service I received there. read more

My favorite bike shop in NEO, hands down. Not only do they have some of the best mechanics in Ohio, their super knowledgable, unpretentious, staff will take the time to help guide any consumer (amateur or enthusiast) to the best, most informed decision. I have had overhauls and minor adjustments on my bike and the fee is quite reasonable. If there is a question of quality on a product (I recently purchased a bike light that broke) they contacted the manufacturer to see if I could get a replacement. In addition, I purchased a Felt F65X from the shop last year and it has been running like a champ. Can't wait to get it set up for rails-to-trails. read more

As I entered store the owner and employee were having a heated discussion outside since he was giving his 2 weeks. Mind you, they were doing this in front of the store, in the middle of sidewalk. I went in looking for a donation for a local academy and they stated I needed to see owner, who was outside. I waited awhile trying not to listen to personal conversation right outside the door. So I decided I would just hand him paperwork and he could follow up if he wished. So I went outside and apologized and tried to hand him information on the auction... the owner rudely stated that "you ARE interrupting us." Very bad first impression. I highly recommend Bike Authority. I ride a Trek 7500 hybrid on the Bike&Hike and the Towpath. I ride some 1500 miles/year. SInce Brecksville Velosport closed a year or so ago, I take it to Bike Authority for service. I had them perform their $60 tuneup package. I was pleased with their attention to detail and their quick turnaround. I took the bike in early on a Saturday and it was ready in a few hours. Today I took in my bulging tire for service. The shop was fairly busy but they took care of me right away. The tech explained the tire needed to be replaced and gave me a couple tire choices - he had the tire replaced and I was on my way in 15 minutes tops. There was no labor charge. read more

When I first visited this store, I didn't leave with a good feeling about the staff. Initially, I agreed with some of the lower ranked posts. I have since found the staff to be very knowledgeable and helpful, and not pushy in the slightest. I returned several times, and now make frequent purchases at the Bike Authority. They are now my go-to shop for Trek branded equipment. They have a good selection of top quality bikes, equipment and accessories. Their prices are on par with competing bike shops, and certain items were actually less expensive than Amazon! Recently, they generously gave me a couple of bike boxes I needed for a cross-country move. I am disappointed that I will not be living in the area any longer, but encourage anyone reading this post to consider visiting this shop. read more

I bought a bike from these guys spent a lot of money on it and was never shown how to adjust the suspension. The brakes never worked right finally had to replace them at my own cost. These guys are the best. I have been using them for years and have had exceptional service. Most recently I had them perform my yearly overhaul including installing new shift cables. I brought the bike back in after 1 week to have the rear derailleur adjusted due to expected cable stretching. They tried to adjust and where not happy and asked me to leave it. They had mentioned that the P5 has had issues with cables binding. They ended up replacing the cable with a totally enclosed cable, and at no charge! read more

I first went to Bike Authority after I moved to the area from out of state, and needed a Cervelo dealer to help me with a frustrating and ongoing issue with the seatpost of my TT bike that was slipping. It was an issue that would come and go and my previous bike shop never knew how to fix it. When I went to Bike Authority, they modified the seat post clamp right there and then, and this took complete care of the issue. That was 2.5 years ago now and my seatpost has had no issues ever since. I had never been in the store before, and really appreciated they 1) fixed it, and 2) did it right away, and 3) didn't even charge me for it. Since then I've become a happy customer, and also got a bike fit to help address a chronic knee issue. It was a great experience and also here, the problem was fixed with a new position that eliminated my knee pain. The store has a wide selection of brands and bikes in various price ranges, and they take pride on trying to sell you the product that is best for you based on your geometry ('fit') and budget, and they won't try to sell you something that you don't need or that wouldn't be a good fit. I rate them five stars because they earn them all through their solid expertise, desire to provide quality products and service, and are very much supporting every member of the cycling community across all levels in a very friendly and honest way. read more

I dropped off a 2007 Felt F1X that was subject to a product safety fork recall and to make a long story short was asked by the individual in charge of the service shop to pay $40 for installing the new fork to resolve the fork recall. I called Felt customer service the next day and was ultimately advised that they were paying Bike Authority to install the new fork under the free fork recall program. A very shaddy and unethical LBS that I will never return to! read more

Stay away! I wanted a bike and was in the neighborhood and thought "why not here"? I should have known when I walked in and not one of the 3 workers offered to help me, to walk out, but I really wanted a bike. Finally, someone approached me and I told them what I was looking for. They showed me a hybrid girls bike. I said okay, thinking they knew what was best. They basically asked for my payment and gave me the bike. Hmm, shouldn't they have adjusted the seat at least. I later found out that there are no holes for a water bottle. I was having problems with the brakes and went back to the store. No one bothered to open the door to help me in. When I got in, they quickly looked at it and said nothing is wrong. I ended up taking the bike elsewhere and paying for an adjustment. My advice, go elsewhere. read more

I see the bad reviews but this isn't the experience I've had. I bought a Felt CX bike and they were patient as I debated getting the 2015 vs 2014 model. I ultimately went with the 2014 model and they set me up on it wonderfully. I had some service done after the break in period and they were happy to get it in and answer my questions. Fantastic service and very knowledgeable staff. Sherman McKee the store owner is very laid back and friendly, but just as important he is a biking enthusiast. I already knew what I wanted in my bike purchase, but Sherman and his staff were a tremendous help when it came to accessories for the bike and clothing. They really know their stuff. But making a buck off the sale isn't top priority. They are more interested in their customers being happy with the products they purchase. I already had a set of wheels to put on my new Cervelo R3 and unlike other bike shops Sherman was fine with me making the swap and gave me money off the bike purchase for the swap. Sherman is very good about returning emails when I sent him questions about accessories. Believe me, I emailed him almost daily and he always got back to me within 1 working day. A detailed bike fitting is included with any bike purchase over $1,000 and Mike patiently took the time to make sure the fit was just right for me. It made a huge difference I noticed after my first ride. I found it very refreshing to buy a bike from a shop where the guys are bike enthusiast too and I'm very confident about any future purchases I make for my bike at Bike Authority. These guys use the equipment they sale. The store specializes in performance bikes, but carries a wide enough selection to suit anyone's needs. This is the best bike shop I have ever dealt with over the 40 years I have been riding bikes. read more
