Marty's Cycle actually held a "bike clinic" in the development where we live. My wife was interested in an adult "trike" as she doesn't feel as steady anymore on a two wheeler. Their staff was very friendly, had a trike she could try, and put no pressure to buy anything at the "clinic". Later that day, my wife decided that was the bike. We called Marty and ordered it over the phone. He said it would take less than a week. During the week we drove to his shop "just to look" for a bike for me too. Marty offered suggestions, allowed me to try the bike I was drawn to, left my wife and I alone to talk without any sales pressure, and just made us feel comfortable without any pressure. In the end, I bought a nice cruiser type bike (Electra "Townie"). Today, less than a week from placing the "trike" order, both bikes were delivered to our home (for free). Bottom line is, Marty's may not be the cheapest. But, the service (free assembly/adjustments, year warranty), knowledge (about brands, types, etc), customer service (friendly, helpful, respectful) and quality (you do get what you pay for!) to me are worth it. read more

Honestly these guys are the best. I walked in during a family vacation with my 13 year olds bike which had a broken derailer hanger. They took the bike back and worked on it until they had it repaired. In addition John the mechanic informed me the brakes were out of alignment and repaired them as well!! All as a Saturday walk in. My second experience with snobbery at Marty's, which is why I'm sharing it now. My son (age 13) and I took his bicycle to Marty's to see about fixing. The gears somehow got stripped, almost as if it was cut. I was told by one of the employees that, because it isn't a very good bike in the first place, it isn't worth repairing and there was really nothing they could do. We then took it to Century Cycles in Rocky River, where they were happy to install the $18 part his bike needed. In the opinion of the guy who helped meat CC, it's a perfectly good kid's bike. read more

I came here to service my bike because I got a gift certificate that was about to expire soon. The owner, Tom, was so helpful and knowledgeable, he quickly glanced at my bike and figured out that I don't need to waste money on tune-up since nothing was wrong except the fact that I want to take full-advantage of the gift certificate. This is a great bike shop. Knowledgeable, friendly and always ready to help. I've had minor repairs done to major rebuild of my derailer and they were always spot on. I even went in because my tire was a little under pressured and I didn't have the right valve to put air in. They did it on the spot at no charge. I got my first mountain bike (a GT Timberline) from Marty 15 years ago, and was recently in to upgrade to a newer giant rincon. Before I became more serious about biking I always bought $100 bikes at your typical department store. Once I started to ride more I hated my bike and was then pointed to Marty's by a co-worker. "You get what you pay for" is an understatement when it comes to serious biking. I bought my first bike about 4 years ago from Marty's and I noticed a difference from quality immediately. The bike I bought was around $400 which is by far one of the cheaper bikes in the shop. It made a huge difference though, it was lighter and most importantly there was no lagging when shifting. On the cheaper bikes when switching gears you would hear some clinging and clanging and then the gear would finally kick in or in worse cases the chain would pop off. On a well built bike from a shop such as Marty's the gear shifting is quiet, smooth and immediate which makes going up hills much more pleasant and I still haven't had a chain pop after 4 years on this bike. That was the first impression I got and the first thing I noticed. Now after having my bike for years I have also learned that they don't rust like the cheaper bikes. Cheaper bikes that I owned under the same type of storage would rust after one year but the bike I bought 4 years ago from Marty's still remains in perfect shape. Marty's has great bikes. I just recently purchased a second bike from Marty's. A lot more expensive than my first now that I am stepping it up even further and purchasing a strictly road bike, the 2015 CAAD 8 Flatbar to be exact. I haven't picked it up yet because Marty's is letting me wait until the weather breaks so that I can take it for a test drive and make sure it is the bike I feel good on. I have been in the store on countless occasions and Jake has always been very helpful and not pushy. This purchase was in the process for over a year. I would go into the store over and over on the way home from work and never make a purchase but Jake would help me each and every time. He never got annoyed with me or try to be pushy. He is a great guy with excellent customer service. When I would apologize for wasting his time on all those visits he would say "Take your time, it's a big purchase and we want you to be happy with what you buy." Most companies would see this as a bad thing as if they aren't trying to sell and aren't making sales but for me this is what sells me. It makes me feel like they care more about their customer and that is where it counts for me. Those are the businesses I spend my money at and the businesses I am confident in. Keep doing what you're doing Jake and thanks for being patient with me all that time when I was deciding on what I wanted. I felt the least I could do is give a long overdue review. Go to Marty's, talk to Jake and tell him what you are looking for and he will be glad to help you out and let you take a few test drives. Stop slacking and get rolling! Marty's Cycle reminds me of the bike store I went to as a kid. Personal and helpful, unlike the Walmarts/costco's of the world. They sell a quality product at a fair price. You can get a cheaper bike at a discount store, but in my experience, they won't last. Quality! read more

Yeah these guys are terrible they act like they are above you. They make you feel like the bike you have is not worth their time. They had a sale half off all bike repairs but only if it is a bike that you bought from them. The worst customer service in the world they gave my 72 year old father a had a hard time about a bike and yet when my father emailed the company from which the bike is from they sent him free parts. Martys is the worst. Do yourself a favor steer clear from them. read more

Im a bmxer who lives in northeast ohio and the only bike shop near me is Martys UNFORTUANTLEY! Im stuck buying all my parts from either chenga which has a limited supply of parts and have to drive 40 mins or order online and pay extra for shipping which is a bunch of $&@". I went there to buy tubes a couple months ago and got a giant tube:( knowing about giant bmx their bikes and parts are not up to par with the more mainstream power house companies i got it any way instead of waiting a couple days for danscomp to ship. So i got the giant tube and the guy said that these tubes are rated the best and all a bunch of bull $&@". Ive been riding for a while and i could tell the guy was bull $&@"ing me. So i got the tube as a quick fix and i rode it for a day at the skate park not doing to much and it popped! So i was even dumb enough to go back and buy another tube and guess what? Another $&@"ing popped tube in the next day and i dont even ride that hard the biggest thing i did was a four stair which is nothing! So i drove 35 mins to chenga and got fit tubes ( knowing fit bikes i trusted them knowing that they stand behind all they bikes and parts) ive been running the tube for a couple months no problem. And also i couldnt even get pegs because all they have is some shit plastic ones that break and chip on metal and cement and dont even carry any descent grips for bmx so i had to order pegs and grips online from danscomp! And to make it even worse i run brakess on my bmx bike like alot of people and my we the people frame i have which i love dosnt have brake mounts and they starts saying how people who ride breakless are dumb and if they hit his car hes sueing and just started going on and on and tried to sell me a brake kit knowing that i have no brake mounts trying to play me off like an idiot. I know how to work on my bike and id rather recomend my friends have me work on their bikes than go to martys and get ripped off for paying around 20 bucks for a generic crap giant chain that snapped on me after a couple of hours( get a shadow halflink) and bikes they carry for bmx arent even big names my friend got a giant and broke a weld on the fork dropouts just doing a 360 into a bank which is not acceptable! What if he was going big and got hurt due to poorly made bikes. I WOULDNT EVEN RECOMEND MARTYS TO ANYONE IN NORTHEAST OHIO THAT BMX'S YOU'RE BETTER OF GOING TO CHENGA 2 OR ORDERING OFF OF DANSCOMP!! read more
