Absolutely disappointed in the entire process of trying to package and ship my bike through bike barn. I was initially told that they would handle everything from boxing to shipping as long as I set up a usps pick up through bike flights as they are a partnering bike shop. They failed to inform me until they had already boxed my bike that usps doesn't pick up from their location. I had to find this information out after three days of calling. I made them aware I only had until the end of the week so minutes before their closing time on Friday I had to rush to bike barn to pick up my packaged bike in order to ensure it would ship out before my departing date. This all could've been avoided if they were upfront about how usps has not been the most reliable in picking up packages from them. I would've gone to another shop to save me the trouble! So if you want to ship your bike through bike flights don't go to bike barn! The service desk people were super nice I will say and were helpful in keeping the store open until I was able to rush there before closing. read more

This is a smaller location of the bike barn clan. The are remodeling the building outside as of July 2017 but the store is still open. I generally have had no issues here except once when I caught an attitude from an employee. May have been that's just the way they act but it was to fix an issue with a bike I just bought. Other that that it was been a positive experience. Just too bad the selection in stock is not the best. This location is good for supplies and repairs but I would call ahead if you are expecting them to have a bike you want to look at. They can order bikes if that is needed. read more

I thought I would contribute my own thoughts on bike barn even though I already made a review on their old location. Yeah the prices are up there, but they are not outrageous compared to other bike shops. I've been coming to bike barn for years since I bought my first bike there and the staff have always been helpful with my questions and don't try to up sell me products I don't need. Many times they would not charge me for small services on my bikes and in return I keep coming back and supporting their business. This place is great for enthusiasts and people just getting into the sport and they do group rides and classes. read more

The person working the door doing this time of social distancing is really racist, he made sure everyone who came before or after was helped but never let me into the shop it wasn't until the guy working out side fixing flats asked me could he me because he seen I had been waiting before the store even opened. I have been going to Bike Barn for the last 5 years in support of my MS 150 endeavors. These guys have always been helpful, knowledgeable and reasonable in meeting my expectations-namely, keep me safe without emptying the bank. I suppose that there are cheaper places to take my bike, but when I am hurdling down the Fred Hartman Bridge over the Houston Ship Channel at 43 MPH, I am comforted that my 250 pounds of streaking body is not getting supported by the lowest bidder! Coming here I was excited to see what they had to offer. New to the city and looking to get more familiar with cycling I came here to get direction in a purchase. When I walked in two employees didn't even acknowledge I was there. Could be a simple enough mistake. They moved their shop over by our house and it's the first place we decided to stop at to look for a new road bike for my fiance. I've owned road bikes since 2004 and he hasnt been on a bike since his childhood Huffy. The selection is great and the customer service from Geoff was fantastic. Extremely personable and put my fiance at ease with the process. The bike he liked is running about $50 cheaper at Bike Barn than the other stores we've checked out and $75 cheaper than the online price. I see that others have complained about service pricing, but it is on par with getting my bike serviced inside the loop. Fiance wants to try a couple more bikes before making his decision but so far, Bike Barn is winning based on price and customer service. read more

Poor service! I had a complete tuneup of my mountain bike. When I got it back, the shifters were still not properly adjusted, which I didn't find out until my next ride. No apologies and had to wait 45 min to get it fixed. When I asked them to check the suspension fork, they didn't have time and asked me to leave the bike at the store once again. I live 25 min drive away and have now spent more than 2 hours driving back and forth to get it fixed... Go somewhere else for your bike needs! read more

These guys are the best!!! The staff is great, you can really tell the love bikes and are really out to help you, not just sell you something and move on. If you can afford to spend a little more for a bike barn bike VS an academy bike I would highly recommend it. We got a Specialized Hot Rock for my boy when he was 3. Seven years later it's still in great condition and has been passed down to 2 kids. I like this Bike Barn location because they are not as busy and always seem to have time the time to help you out. read more

Sales associate sold me a Saris Bones EX 3 Bike Trunk Rack without verifying wether it would fit on my car. I didn't learn until the day of my road trip the rack didn't fit, and I missed the opportunity to bring my mtn. bikes to an amazing rocky mountain national park trip. After the trip, the store would not accept the return, and recommended that I sell the rack online. I've been a long time customer of this store, and now not only I'll follow it's advice to sell it online, but will look to buy online too. read more

Hell they already made me choose amazon to buy my bike and now walmart will get $40 at the most for all the tools I'll need to put it together myself. Love this shop. I ran in with literally only 30 minutes to purchase bikes for my husband and myself (as gifts for our anniversary). I know nothing about bikes---except for how to ride one. All of the associates were so knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. They were able to decipher what it was I wanted in about 2 minutes, and match me with the perfect bikes for both my husband and myself. They didn't have the color of the bike I wanted in their shop, but were able to transfer it from another store. That isn't the BEST part... As I was checking out I was trying to figure out logistics of how to get the bikes to my house, from the store, without my husband knowing. Another associate overheard me talking and offered to deliver both of the bikes to my house that evening, free of charge. I was so impressed with their willingness to help me! When the bikes were delivered I noticed they didn't have kick stands. I am so oblivious, I had no idea I needed to purchase those ‍. No worries, Gordon said. I can come back by tomorrow after work and attach those for you. SERIOUSLY??!! And he did. I have rarely experienced this level of customer service anywhere. Go check them out. I took my dad's bike that he gave me in for service and to have some new equipment put on. I purchased a new seat from the shop. Overall, I spent over $200 for a little TLC, a phone carrier, a new seat and a water bottle cage. The existing seat on the bike was a special "noseless" gel seat that retails for $80. When I picked the bike up, I forgot about getting the seat back because I was in a hurry and it wasn't offered back to me. I realized my mistake and called the very next day. I spoke with the manager, Nick, and he said the policy is to offer original parts back to the customer. He couldn't locate the seat anywhere in the shop. When we spoke again he still couldn't locate it and no one knew where it was. My guess is someone liked it and decided to appropriate it. Nick offered an apology and nothing else. Now I have to spend $80 to replace my dad's seat. I was very unimpressed with the lack of an offer to compensate me for the mistake in any way whatsoever. I will not be back to this store ever. read more

I've purchased from this store many times but never used their service. Took in a wheel with a broken spoke. Jase in service was very friendly and helpful. Asked if I wanted to wait or pick up the wheel later. I told him I'd come back. I left and got a call not 15 minutes later telling me my wheel was ready! Great experience at the Bike Barn @ Westheimer and Wilcrest. Went in to get more information about 2018/2019 mountain bikes and got way more than I was expecting. I spoke with Nicole and she really knows her stuff. Customer service was beyond exceptional. I do not usually waste my time writing reviews, because let's face it, these days customer service is non-existent. But she gave me her undivided attention. I had to tell her "hey it's ok to answer the phone if you need to"...she ran to grab but another employee had already answered the phone. I highly recommend checking out this location. What I liked best was her VERY thorough explanation of the latest features and overall trends in bikes for this year as opposed to older bikes. Even better, she steared be towards the bike to best fit my needs and riding level (a bike that she would need to order for me) instead of pushing me to buy a more expensive bike that they already had in the store. Gave very good advice on how to take care of the bike and what things aren't going to be working for much longer and what options of fixing the inevitable problems. They were informative and helpful, and steered my in the right direction. All the sales staff, including Jones and Geoff are friendly and open to just chat about bikes. Now that I'm well into a dedicated sport, Bike Barn continue to be a great source of knowledge, parts, and most importantly for me, expert service. Went in Saturday with the intentions of purchasing bike stem, handlebar, bearings, and pedals. This place is first come first serve but the mechanic on duty, Brett, told us he was the only one on duty and "it's about to get hectic soon" so he couldn't work on the bike. He told us to leave it for a week. We didn't mind leaving the bike but I didn't feel comfortable leaving it with someone who doesn't want so much work on Saturday except like he said "to fix flats".
