just had a really great experience here. I'm by no means a bike aficionado, and just wanted my flat repaired, and a new helmet. Dan was quick to offer help when I rolled in with my rowdy 14 month old and flailing bike. Dan very kindly repaired it within 15 minutes, and I noticed he checked other parts of the bike, like gears, bolts, the other tire. Dan was down to earth, very helpful, and took care of the problem incredibly quickly. There were other customers in there talking about much more high tech things, but everyone was friendly and helpful to me with my 14 month old, and I didn't experience any snootiness. I've taken my bike to another popular bike shop in the Heights, and they weren't nearly as fast, nor friendly, and that other bike shop isn't even open on Mondays. Going to icycle from now on. In 2020 I took my bike in for a tune up and it was not worth the $99. Tires weren't even aired up and they didn't really treat me like a valid customer. I assumed ok, covid and its busy season, I'll give them another shot next time I need assistance. Fast forward to 2022, bought a new bike and needed it assembled. Lets give this a go around again. Dropped it off and was told it would take a week, ok. Got a text around a week later and went in to pick up. When I arrived they brought out a green bike that was not the one that I brought in. They told me when I mentioned it was the wrong one "this is your bike, we have no other of this brand here, you are mistaken." After this went back and forth for a bit we looked at the tag and they were like "Jerome?" There it was, NOT MY BIKE. Despite the gaslighting. They ended up finding the box with my bike still not assembled inside. Promised another 5 days it will be done. Came back later the next week to pick up they rolled out the bike... it was not the bike I ordered. Now they once again said "this is your bike, it was what was in the box," but it was a different model and style bike completely. I had checked the bike in the box at home and it was correct before taking it in. So I am not crazy. Thank goodness the manufacturer was able to assist and they took the bike back and sent a replacement. In the end I am out $200 and exhausted from the mental hurdles this place has repeatedly given me. read more

This is my second time in and the customer service has been consistently above and beyond. Mr.Dan helped me today and took the time to educate me on each individual part and suggested what should be replaced and why and which parts were still functional. As a student getting a fair price is important and these guys deliver every time. My bike is my only mode of transportation and I sat and read a book while he diligently cleaned my bike and replaced what was hazardous to my safety. Fantastic service. My wife and I were looking for a bicycle that she could be more comfortable with on longer rides. I Cycle had an excellent selection of bicycles already assembled, but hearing that my wife wanted something "more colorful" the owner searched his inventory and put together a new bicycle out of the box even adding on a few custom features to increase comfort. My wife fell in love with the bicycle he selected for her after the test ride (convenient area to test ride across from the shop on the Watonga trail) and we are very happy with the purchase. I'll be buying my new bicycle sometime this year and will be back to support this wonderful independent bicycle shop. read more

I had some issues with my bike and had brought it back to the store for them to look at. Instead of fixing the issue, I felt more belittled and talked over. That experience led me to leave a bad review and the owner Matt reached out to me directly and asked me to bring the bike back so he could make it right. I was a little hesitant to do so because of my previous experience but decided to give him a chance. Matt did make all the issues right and fixed my bike. He also took the time to go over how my gears worked instead of just saying they are fine. There was still some talk from employees, and I think they need to brush up on their customer service skills a bit. Hopefully, this situation brought that to light a little. I did agree to edit my review, but I won't give 5 stars because I shouldn't have had to come in twice as it is a 40-minute drive, one way for me. read more

First negative review I've ever written, but feel like it could be helpful to someone else in deciding where to take your bike for service. As someone who is not in the hardcore cycling community, I was realistic that I might get a little bit of "you don't know what the F you're talking about" attitude when bringing my newly purchased used bike in for some new wheels and a fitting. The guy I bought the bike from (very nice guy in Humble) is the same height as me, but I'm a much more thick and stocky than him. When I first walked up right around noon, the door was locked. I could see several people inside, so I waited thinking someone would come to the door. After waiting 5 minutes and another couple of customers walking up, they buzzed the door open -- I walked in but nobody said "Hi" or "Sorry for the wait" -- in fact, it took me walking around to the service counter and making eye contact with someone to even be recognized as being in the store. I came straight from work so I had business casual on (maybe that was a negative?). A bad start, but no big deal. The guy that appeared to be the head guy asked what I needed. I told him I was looking for new wheels with 32 or 36 spokes for this bike I just bought. He dismissively said something about the rims and that I needed to use better riding technique rather than buy new wheels. I told him what I had read about more spokes and he told me that he "could put any wheel on there he wanted" and it wouldn't make the bike better suited for a bigger rider, only my riding technique would do that. I considered just telling him I wanted to buy the new wheels and press it, but then I decided I'd rather spend the money somewhere else. He stood there staring at me, so I asked about a bike fitting. He looked at the bike mechanic like "can you believe this guy?" and said "you'd have to schedule that". I said, "Great, let's schedule it". Then he walked away without saying anything else! The other guy came over and told me the bike was for somebody 5'8 max. I told him the guy I bought it from was 5'11 and I rode the bike for an hour the day before very comfortably. I asked him if we could fit the bike and he said "no, I can't" and walked away. It was such a strange encounter. I don't know how I could have pissed these guys off, I barely had a chance to say anything. Anyway, I took the bike to another shop and got a normal experience. Greeted immediately (and cheerfully), told the guy someone said the frame was too small and he said no way, that bike will fit you, and scheduled a fitting. He said during the fitting we can go over all the options for stronger wheels. Someone might say "they just gave you good advice (don't upgrade the wheels and the bike is too small"). I don't think that is true (previous owner same height and more spokes def makes a wheel stronger), but even if it was, the whole experience was so condescending and negative...a "why is this guy bothering us by showing up" attitude...that I felt compelled to share my experience. read more

The quote for the work was very reasonable, and they didn't try to upsell on the tires. Got me exactly what I need and they did a great job. read more

I CYCLE is great! I first went there to purchase a new bike. They were very helpful to find a good bike within my budget- didn't try to just sell me the most expensive option and make a higher commission. All of the bikes come with a free 30 day basic tune up. I wasn't told this though and found out a year later. I explained it to one of the employees (or he may have been the owner) and he said to bring the bike in and they'll do it anyway! While tuning, he gave me tips on maintenance to do at home also. Definitely recommend I CYCLE if you are looking for a new bike or need a tune up. The prices are reasonable alps. read more

My son and I drove all the way here from Pearland to "window shop" for bikes to start training for the MS150. Our sales person, David, patiently spent a couple of hours educating us on the pros and cons of different types of bikes, letting us test ride as many as we wanted, and showed my son how to maintain them. We ended up leaving with a bike for each of us and the necessary gear thanks to David's friendly and non pushy manner. We already went on our first ride and couldn't be more pleased. I stopped in the shop roughly a week ago with every intention of purchasing a brand new bike. I walked around looking at the selection of various Cannondales, and despite my obvious interest and desire to spend somewhere between $700-$1k on a new hybrid bike, not a soul approached me and asked if they could help. I must have been in the store for 15 minutes while a small group of people gathered at the counter to have their bikes looked at while two or three others, not including myself, just wondered aimlessly without anyone assisting us. So does this shop sell bikes or just work on them? I own a business myself, and overhead is never my first concern if the flow of customers is too great for the staff to handle. In fairness, I'm sure the staff at I Cycle are knowledgeable and experienced, but if I can offer some advice, a little customer service in the future would go a long way to avoiding more instances of potential consumers with cash in hand leaving and taking their money a few blocks south. 3 stars because you're a local business and everyone screws up, and because I wasn't actually able to purchase anything so I can't review the product, just the service... or lack there of. read more

I am a newbie bike enthusiast, but it seems that these guys know their stuff, in my opinion anyways. When I walked in, all staff members were working on bikes. They have me good information and tips. The guys who work there seem genuinely happy to work there and it is evident they love bikes. Plus, they have access to a large parking lot to test ride some great bikes. I have a road bike on hold for me at a major competitor (who I visited 5 times at 2 locations), but I am going to be buying a bike from Icycle. The attention level to customers is different than my experience with a bike bike competitor, but that could be subjective. Frustrating place, because they could be so good. They lost a sale today. I was about to buy a bike at I Cycle, because they said they were able to fit my height and requirements for a step-through frame. They fell through on their service level. I drove from there to another nearby bike store in the Heights, and they had exactly what I needed in stock and assembled. Within 30 minutes, my quality new bike was on my rack and headed home. Stopped in here to take a look at a few bikes to replace my cannondale F4 that was stolen years ago. What I found was a group of folks that have a healthy obsession with bicycles, which is super handy when you're trying to find just the right bike for the type of riding that you want to do. After spending about 30 minutes looking and test driving different bikes, I found exactly what I wanted. Furthermore, they stand behind what they sell and their work. I had broken a spoke on my rear wheel about 3 weeks after purchase, and they replaced the spoke, and trued the wheel in about 30 minutes and I rode it again that night. Fast forward a few weeks later, I had broken 2 spokes on the rear wheel. They replaced my wheel with a heavier duty wheel. Didn't charge me at all. They also fixed a chain I messed up while cleaning it, (i broken one of the links with a chain breaker instead of using the power link. oops!) They fixed for me free of charge. I bought a new helmet from them, with the proper sizing because mine was too old. Thanks guys, i will be shopping with you often. read more

Stopped in here twice to pick up a bike for the wife. Both times the guys working the shop were super attentive and really listened to her when picking out a bike that would meet her needs. No sales pressure; no upselling. They brought out a total of four bikes for her to test ride the second time around, and seemed content to let her try the bikes out for as long as necessary to make sure she got the right one. If you haven't had a tune up in a awhile I would recommend it. I put it off too long and now my gears are shifting so nice. I took a cheap bike my young son rides (why buy an expensive bike if he will leave it soon). They fixed the flat tire, didn't reject me because is literally a bike not meant to last, and it was cheap. I ask for help for a more stable bike in my sons future, they were very helpful, and I will be buying my son's first official reliable bike there thanks to them. These guys are great. Locally owned professional bike shop run by avid road/mountain bikers. They were all really knowledgeable and helpful with everything that I needed. I already had a road bike and was looking to buy myself a mid range mountain bike to be able to get into riding trails and off the beaten path. Matt, the owner, is very helpful and approachable. He mentioned a ton of different websites and forums where I could start getting involved with other riders. They also invited me out for their weekly rides and even mentioned I could join their MS150 team. Like I said before everybody who works there is an avid rider, very knowledgeable, and you can tell they all enjoy what they do. I ended up getting a bike with them and will probably continue to give them my business. If you are looking for a great bike shop without the "Bike Barn" feel head over there.
