I have three bikes that Fred services. Last month He did some upgrades to my bikes. I had Sugar Cycles take my wheels off my Roubaix and replaced them with Tarmac wheels to get more speed. I then had them put the wheels from the Roubaix on my Cervélo, which increased my speed by two minutes. Next, I will have them swap out my Pinarello for my Cervélo wheels. If it can be done, Fred can do it. He also will give you the best advice even if it means he's not going to make any money off the sale. He would give you the same customer service if you bought in a bike for $10.00 or $10,000. read more

I ride on an inside trainer everyday and needed to have maintenance done to my bike in an afternoon so as not to miss a ride. I called a couple of shops to see if I could schedule to take it in. and have it worked on while I waited. I finally talked to Greg at Sugar Cycles who said he looked like he could to it the next afternoon and set up a time to do it. I got there 20 minutes early, he took a bike off the stand and started on mine immediately. I came into the shop needing a link taken off a loose chain for a reel mower. It ended up being just a bit too short. When I went back to buy a new chain the crew asked to bring the mower in to make sure it would fit properly. They mentioned that it still might come off so a tensioner was needed... they built and installed a custom one for me. Rock on! Amazing value too. read more

These guys deserve your business! They are very modest but also extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about cycling. I came in 5 minutes before closing the first time I visited and they didn't turn me away or make me feel rushed. On the contrary, Henry seemed genuinely interested in what I was looking for and wanted to make sure he knew what I wanted. I asked for a pretty specific bike with a specific purpose and he didn't try to up sell me or show me things outside of my budget. They showed me their options in my price range best suitable for me. My experience has been horrible at Sugarcycles in Missouri City. I have been a customer since 2010 when I first purchased an Orbea bike in Sugarland, then a year later, Specialized SL3, without any issues. On March 2023, I bought a "Diverge" bike with a seat post not appropriately tightened, causing minor pain in my leg muscle caused by the seat suddenly slipping down without warning! I returned the Diverge because I was generally unsatisfied. Still, I was given relentless lectures about the size of the bike being correct and other unrelated issues I didn't care about. I returned Diverge because I also wanted an e-bike, namely Turbo Creo SL Comp Carb. The bike was purchased on March 23. The Followings issues were discovered: Chain skipping when pedaled hard, a headset is loose, the rear stick blinker is defective, brake lever pull distance is uneven with the front brake lever not adjusted right, and the front disk brake makes rubbing sounds with pads! It reminds you the bike had more issues than a Walmart bike, and I've paid 6.6k. I mentioned the problems, and Fred replied," Bikes costing 15k have issues and have to be fixed too" -words to that effect. Again, for the record, I bought many bikes, and never have I had so many issues with a brand-new bike of this caliber; the customer service is horrible, and they were argumentative towards me every time I went inside. I felt treated very differently and rudely. I felt mistreated as a customer of 13 years, and three bikes purchased and hundreds and thousands of dollars bought from this store throughout the years. The camel that broke the back is the fact that these guys were playing games and always behaved with some kind of hatred towards me for absolutely no reason. I will not recommend this place, and I told the owner I would never return to his store. Find a place that takes care of customers without being played mind games and supports your decisions. This bike shop provided laid back but attentive service. I was quickly helped and informed of the wait time for repairs and would have been out of their within an hour but another issue came up and I couldn't wait. However the mechanic was honest and straightforward about costs of repairs and the increase from his original prediction due to wheel spikes breaking etc. the bike was old but still in working order. I'm not a big biker so I appreciated that there was no hard sales tactics of trying to consume to buy a mew bike. The end result is I can ride with my kids and I didn't spend a ton! You'd better like Specialized at this location, because that's all they sell. Thankfully, that's what I ride. I haven't found any killer deals at this shop, but you get what you pay for; they know what they're doing, they'll teach you what you need to know, and they know Specialized bikes better than anyone else I've come across. After taking my bike all over town, I've come to realize that the best mechanics are down the street from me in this shop. There is a group that rides out of this store, but you need to be fast in order to keep up with them. They dropped me like a dirty sock halfway through Sienna Plantation, but it was fun trying. read more

Would have given 5 stars if they had wider selection of bikes, but I guess that's the downside to being a Specialized concept store. The mechanics in this shop are fantastic. They are friendly and helpful and do great work. They've ordered parts for me, they've installed parts I brought in, and they really came through for me when my bike was totaled (by no fault of the shop). They gave me a loaner bike (Specialized Roubaix) while I waited for my replacement bike to come in, and got me a great deal. There's plenty of seating by the shop if you want to hang out, and it's set up so that you can watch everything the guys are doing. They'll even give you coaching to learn how to do repairs yourself. I have to drive a little further, but if I want it done right, I can guarantee that will happen here. read more

This location is the closest bike shop to me and the guys and gals are always helpful. This is a good place whether you are a cyclist or tri-athlete because they do carry some tri stuff as well. I picked up an X Lab carbon sonic and carbon bottle cages only a few days before a big event and I'm glad I had it. I see some of the guys out on local rides and at the races, its good to have people around the shop who actually ride and know more than I do, which isn't a ton. So glad I don't have to go into Houston everytime I need something! I'd give 5 stars if they only carried Cervelo! Great shop none the less read more

The new location is extremely small, making it a little overwhelming to look at all the bikes so close together. My poor rating for the stars however isn't due to that, it's for the service i received when I went in. I was ignored by two males in the shop. It appeared to be only them two there at the time; and they just continued talking to each other. As the only customer in the store I was taken aback, as I was ready to spend some money on a bike- we all know cycling bikes are not cheap. I looked around for 30 minutes alone and turned around to leave and that is when I heard "do you need help". I turned around and said "no thank you" and continued on my way. I ended up buying my specialized dolce from someone else. I now got to society works for anything I need. Prices, selection and more importantly the people Are fantastic there! Henry, the brother of the owner, was superbly informational and didn't try to upsell us on anything at all, simply providing any information relevant to whatever bike or gear we were looking at. I walked into Sugar Cycles fully decided on a bike at a different place, but I became convinced by the excellent service and knowledge presented by Henry that I would prefer to make my purchases there at Sugar Cycle. This seems like a nice, clean shop, well laid out. Decent selection of Specialized bikes with a few of the brands that they sell at their other store mixed in. The guy I spoke with was nice. He offered to bring one off the rack for me and/or test ride if I wanted, but didn't give me a lot of information on the bikes or the components. He just basically categorized them as low end, middle of the road and high end bikes. I'm not a big fan of the new Specialized designs, so there really wasn't much that I liked. I guess I'd have to say I'd give this place a chance if I liked Specialized. I didn't deal with the repair shop so I can't comment on the quality in the back of the house. read more

Took my mtb bike in to get a tune up and these guys took real good care of me. I needed a few components replaced and they replaced the worn parts and tuned up the bike. It was adjusted perfectly. I got it back and back on the trails in no time and my bike is riding like brand new if not a little bit better! read more
