On…read moremy very first ride afterward, I crashed because the handlebars hadn't been tightened properly -- one handlebar snapped and my saddle bent. I sustained a serious knee injury along with cuts and bruises, and months later, I'm still dealing with knee issues from that crash. When I called to report the crash, the response was "oh shit." To their credit, they promptly repaired the handlebars and attempted to fix the saddle, though it remained slightly uneven. They told me to reach back out if the saddle became a problem. A couple months later, the saddle issue did start affecting my longer rides, so I called as instructed. I wasn't looking for a free replacement -- just guidance on getting a new saddle, or possibly a discount given the circumstances. Instead, I was met with skepticism about whether the original service even happened, then told flatly that they "weren't going to pay for my saddle" -- something I never asked for. The manager was dismissive, unprofessional, and flat out rude throughout the call. I never pursued any formal action over the crash, despite a real injury, and gave the shop room to make things right. That wasn't reciprocated. Given the severity of what happened and how it was ultimately handled, I can't recommend this shop and won't be returning.

The reviewers were largely right. The store has an amazing display of inventory. They have hundreds of bikes, parts, etc. for the location. They also have a decent small selection of used bikes. However, as has been stated before, no one will greet you upon entering the store. The techs are crowded around their repair projects in the bike "garage" telling each other stories and generally ignoring customers. There appears to be no customer service or sales reps anywhere on the floor. You are on your own to browse with no offer of help unless you ask, I guess. We did ask for help; I had a number of questions about bike sizing, BMX bike wheels, etc. When I asked for help, I felt like I was interrupting the employees banter. Even though the clerk/employee did answer my questions, he gave me bad info (my son is not yet big enough for a 20" bike) and never really looked at me, instead working on his computer and overall showing great indifference to my inquiries. In sum, I'd say that while they have a great inventory and probably very able repair skills, my money is hard enough to come by that I would rather spend it at a place that values me as a customer. I would not suggest shopping at Bicycles, Inc.

The fact that Bikes Inc has stood for so many years should tell you they're doing something right. I have ventured out and away from Bikes Inc a few times trying to see if there was a magic bike shop that was any better and very quickly my resolve was to go back to Bikes Inc. Here are a few reasons Bikes Inc is the best around 1- The selection of parts leaps and bounds over any boutique shop 2- the service department is top notch In Arlington ask for Gordon the service manager and hell take good care of you and your bike. If you're in Hurst ask for John- between the two of these guys is close to forty years of bike service experience. 3. If I have any problem at the Arlington location Eddie or Gordon have always bent over backwards to help me as the customer. 4. The owners, yeah its still owned by actual people can be contacted at the Hurst store if there's any issue that you can't get resolved at the store level. Is Bikes Inc perfect no, but I challenge you to find a bike store that can rival what Bikes Inc gives its customers every day.
