Cannot recommend Hilltop Bicycle Center highly enough. I am a casual rider with a sporting-goods-store-quality bike that I started riding more seriously last year. I was having trouble with my gears so I began researching bike shops. Not being a serious rider, I had two concerns: 1) being sold services/repairs I did not need and 2) "bike snobs" because I do not have a fancy bike. After reading reviews and comparing prices, I chose Hilltop Bicycle Center and wow...what a great experience! Josh was working on a bike out front of the shop when I drove up. He went into the shop when he saw me, greeted me and asked how he could help when I walked in. I told him about my bike and the problems I was having. He had me bring my bike in, listened to my issues, looked at my bike and made a few different price-level recommendations. In my head, I chose what I wanted to get done based on the options I was presented, but I asked Josh what he thought I needed just to see if he would try to up-sell me. His suggestion was right in line with what I thought I needed without trying to sell me the other services I really do not need right now. They did a mini-tune up on my bike, replaced the chain (Josh showed me how to tell it was worn and needed to be replaced) and I purchased hand grips which they installed. They did great work at a VERY fair price. Everybody at the shop was friendly, they answered my simple questions without making me feel stupid and, just like Josh promised, my bike feels brand new after they finished with it. Hilltop Bicycle obviously knows how to take care of serious bikers and offers a lot of services for them, but I found them to be extremely fair and friendly to a casual biker such as myself as well. I will return here for any of my biking needs and if I get "more serious" and ever look to upgrade my bike, I will be shopping here. read more

I have a bike race in a few weeks so decided to take my bike to a local Mansfield expert for a tune-up.....I called and left multiple messages.....no return call.....I finally decided to go to the business location on Friday afternoon at 2pm, which happens to be between normal business hours - door was locked - so I decided to knock - then I called in case he was in the back working on a bike - no response, once again voicemail - I find it hard to believe, given this business owners lack of attention to customer inquiries that..... A) The business is successful B) That if it is still in operation, that it won't shut down soon C) How this business has a 4.8 review on Google If indeed the business has shutdown, don't know why he hasn't made that clear on his voicemail message, on the front door of the business, and on his website. read more

This dude has no idea how to run a business. I brought 2 bikes that I just wanted a tuneup on. My bikes sat with him for 1 month and he hadn't touched them. I asked him for status updates and he'd give me a day & time to pickup. When I would show, the bikes were in the same location in the shop without any service. This happened 3 times and I took my bikes on the last interaction. He says landlord is kicking him out. I can see why. read more

Jeff agreed to fix my son's bike. My wife paid in advance for the part needed. He told her to come by the following week (after Tuesday) between 3:00 and 6:00pm. She did and his store was closed. She returned a couple days later and his store was still closed. She called and nobody answered. We found out he had a medical procedure, he apologized and told us to come by later that week, so he could catch up. My wife did, and his store was closed again. Since then, we both have called, texted, and emailed and have gotten NO response. read more

I was looking for a new bike to help me lose weight but I honestly didn't know how to ride a bike in the first place. The owner was very kind, patient, and very knowledgeable. I had an issue trying to pedal because of the arthritis in my knees and directed me to a shop owned by his family and they were incredibly helpful. I needed a new tire for my bike and I wanted it installed. I could change tire, but have too many tube issues that it's worth having it done at bike shop. I have tried to get new tire installed at another shop and had to wait a week. I took my wheel in to Hilltop and said I needed a new tire, which they quickly found and started changing without trying to sell me a new tube also. I asked about a new tube and was told the old one is holding air so I didn't need a new one. In and out in about 10 minutes with a smile on my face. read more

If I went off of my experience from bringing my bike in the first time, I'd say 1 star. I dropped my husbands bike off to get tubes and tires replaced. It was done the first day which I was impressed with. The woman brought it to my car and helped me load it. However, when I got it out, I noticed the back tire was rubbing against the framing pretty bad. Since this was an early Father's Day gift, I was really disappointed to give my husband his bike that was not functional even after spending over $100+. I'm not sure why the woman didn't say anything when bringing it out or why the person who was in charge of fixing it didn't bother to fix it or even call me if an extra labor cost was needed. It felt dishonest! The next day, I brought it back and Rich went above and beyond. He came out to my car, unloaded it and fixed the problem right there on the sidewalk. He explained that it's been pretty busy lately (which I saw firsthand inside) and that he was embarrassed that something simple was missed. He made sure it was good to go and reloaded it back into my car. I appreciate him for making it right for me and my husband. I put 4 stars because it certainly was an inconvenience and it was not a good feeling to come home and find out the bike wasn't even functional, but I will definitely give this place a second chance in the future because of Rich. read more

On 1/2/2017 I called to see if I could get my sons back brakes adjusted. Josh told me that they were closed but if I could come by within the hour, he could fix it for us. I quickly went over and josh was true to his word, fixed it in under 15 minutes and we were on our way. Great customer service even when they are closed. Great shop for your bicycle needs. Right when you walk in the door you are greeted with a "hello, welcome to hilltop". The mechanic on duty knows his stuff. Bike repair, riding gear, sunglasses, reflectors, lights and even nutrition. This store has it all. I've even seen him refuse work, when he thought it would be unsafe. We brought our kids' bikes in to get a rim straightened and inoperable gears fixed. They took us in on the spot and we were out of there in about 30 minutes on a Saturday.
