I need a tune up for a bike that hadn't been ridden in several years. I took my bike down and they are great. They are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend them hands down to anyone needing a bike or work done. They have all kinds of different accessories etc. I read a few reviews and it looks like they have had some drama in the past but I think that's just a one off event and not something that was just randomly planned. Clyde and Brandon are the only two people here and I've dealt with them for at least 10 years. When I had a serious accident on my analog bike, they gave me great advice on an electric trike. we ordered it sized for me and they assembled it. When it's brakes got out of adjustment as the cables stretched a little they made a home call since my home is too far from their shop for me to ride to on the trike. you can't go wrong here. read more

I love love love this shop. My only complaint is I don't know which employee to praise. I brought my mountain bike in for maintenance a few months ago with no complaints. We purchased my son an E-bike for Christmas and I was reassured then to bring his bike in at any time to have it checked for proper maintenance and installation. Well we put his bike together (on our own), until the ice storm, when our son whipped out on a sheet of ice. So we took it in to have it checked out and they were very thorough, tightening things for us that we had missed and explaining bike specific things for our son. Had the opportunity recently to visit Clyde James Cycles. Was interested in learning more about option for my Schwinn & also about electric bikes. Was approached in the store by a man who was the owner/manager. I later heard him referred to as Brandon. Brandon seemed eager to offer me information about a particular electric bike, but quickly discarded me to move onto another customer in the store. What I experienced next was both shocking & very unsettling. A simple discussion between Brandon & another man about a "pricey" bike quickly escalated into something much more. I watched Brandon become extremely agitated & aggressive toward this man, using both profanity & threats of physical violence, saying things like, "let's go outside, to the parking lot". Products that were to be sold to this man were abruptly & deliberately removed from the counter as Brandon told this man, "I don't have to sale you anything". I was truly concerned for the safety of each of us in this store at that moment. Huge red flag! Brandon paid no attention to me or any other customer in the store during these moments, offering no respect for his brand, store or it's patrons. Consequently, I abruptly left, feeling incredibly uncomfortable & questioning whether any man, woman or child should return. Curious about this business & it's practices, I looked further into this business & brand. I even started following them on FB. Turns out, their overall Google Review seems high, but the individual reviews are littered with negative comments, similar exchanges & overall bad ratings. Leaves me questioning the algorithm or validity of the score. Also, I've observed this store's leadership & their interactions on FB in various posts. They are consistently confrontational & side stepping blame. See for yourself! There is an obvious cause for concern & caution here, when dealing with this store & it's ownership. Proceed with due caution! Or better yet, you might want to just hit the breaks. read more

This place is magical!‍ I bought 2 SE BMX bikes over the phone but when I was set to pick up the owner's brother (I forgot his name Brandon?) tells me there is a slight problem. I switch my order to 2 GTs. Very good experience. Super friendly. Nice store with many cool things inside. Knowledgeable and connected with the community. I drove an hourish to shop here. I could have ordered online or gone through one of the many bike shops in my town. But none of them have the same appeal. I like my LBSs. But we are missing the Clyde James experience. read more

I was riding shotgun as a friend made a second visit to CJC. I did not buy anything, but I did want to chime in. So, CJC - Very cool guy, and shop. He has some seriously cool and unique custom bikes. Check out the pictures. Better yet, check out the shop. So as my friend talked shop, I heard my wife's name mentioned, and I wandered over to what's up. My friend recently scored an Ofo bike as the company fled the Dallas scene, and left all their yellow bikes in a very artistic yellow heap. My friend snagged one and did some minor repairs. Only one problem. The seat does not go low enough for my wife's comfort level. It's a long story, so I'll skip to the end. Clyde provided great insight into how to possibly fix the problem, and the psychology of bike riding (if a person is not happy, they are not going to ride). So, for this two very astute insight, I'm going 5 stars on a first review. As we were leaving, a couple of guys rolled in looking for insight on riding a bicycle to California. James was off with more great suggestions, the first one being, "You're going to need something more than three-speed you are riding now." Clyde, if your reading this, did that guy ever start that ride? Oh, and I rarely go 5 stars on a single visit, but based the help I got, and the help I saw him give to others, the shop is as good as it gets. Bottom line: Great shop to check out. read more

A few years ago when they were on Stanley Keller I brought my son's little cheap Walmart bike to them and they fixed it for free. Simple fix. Ever since then I knew that this was the bike shop for me l. today I walked in and was greeted told that I could fix my bike on my own and they showed me how but instead I decided to stay and get my chain and everything done because they're such a great business and everyone is so friendly! My wife and I just bought Aventon Cinch e-bikes and Clyde from Clyde James delivered them, assembled them, adjusted them and fit them to each of us individually. THANK YOU! James was awesome, not just making sure the bikes were great and good to go, but then training us on them from wheel to wheel. Then he had us go on treat rides, further teaching us about the features and how to ride more comfortably. I can't believe just how high the level of service was. Clyde is a personable, dedicated professional when it comes to bikes. I am 72 years old, have had both hips replaced, and found that I couldn't swing over my old Trek anymore. I talked to several bike shops, and it was pretty consistently "you need a $2000-$3000 custom bike". Then I rented a 3G bike, found it a great ride, and located Clyde (the only 3G dealer in Dallas-Ft. Worth). Its a "step thru" (we used to call them "girls bikes") but its strengthened for adult men like me, with a forward placed sprocket and a comfortable seat. He works out of a small workspace, and had me set up In no time. I bought the 7-speed model, but found myself using only a couple of gears. Clyde said "no problem" and came up with a front sprocket with 32 teeth that now has me using all 7 gears on every ride. It's not important anymore, but I think I could ride this bike up a tree! I just got back from a 6+ mile ride, which doesn't make me feel handicapped, and its all due to Clyde. read more

Clyde James saved Christmas!!! We finally got off the waitlist for a mountain bike for our son. I was able to have it delivered to Clyde James and they (he) built it and delivered to our home. He called several times to update me on everything, and even had the bike ready early. They had the bike and were more than happy to ship it across the US to me free of charge and even gave me a discount code to save 50$ on the bike.
