This review is wildly overdue, about three years overdue, but I've been meaning to write it because…read moreEugene Electric Bicycles did such a great job on my bike. They converted my 2010 Marin mountain bike into an e-bike, and it was not a simple project. I have a small frame, wanted solid range, and needed it to work safely with a rear child seat. Alexander went back and forth with me for months figuring out what would actually work. We initially tried to make a triangle battery fit inside the frame. Once the real measurements came in, it was clear the manufacturer specs did not match reality and it just was not going to work. Instead of forcing it, Alexander pivoted. He found a rack with the right weight capacity and then custom-machined and reinforced it so it would be sturdy enough for both the battery and a kid seat. That attention to safety and detail mattered to me. Throughout the process he was thoughtful and straightforward about tradeoffs, timing, and cost. Nothing was oversold. When I had a quick issue after pickup, they replied to my email quickly and helped me troubleshoot it right away. Three years later, the bike has been completely reliable. The setup feels stable and balanced, and it has allowed me to keep riding in ways that really matter to me. If you are considering a conversion and want people who take safety and craftsmanship seriously, I would absolutely recommend Eugene Electric Bicycles.

Is it possible to give less than a star? Purchased a $2,000 Urtopia ebike (Carbon 1 ST) on sale…read moreabout a month ago. Salesperson was uncertain about what accessories came with the bike and assured me that the medium frame (the only one in stock) would fit me. At 6 foot, I fell between the medium and large frame size, but the sakesperson assured me that the medium size would work. Because of some medical problems (shoulder replacement), I was unable toreally ride the bike for several weeks. After taking my first extensive ride, I realized that the seat post was too short. I rode to the shop where the service guy nicely replaced the seat post with a new one, kept my old seat post, and never mentioned payment. I assumed it was part of the $2,000 purchase price. I returned to the store today (6/19/26), as the ebike controller was not functioning properly. The people at the shop had no idea what the problem was, but the service guy thought the problem was me. To paraphrase what he said: "It may be that this bike is too technologically challenging for an old person like you." The rude service guy also said I skipped out on the payment for the seat post. To add further insult, the shop was unable to solve the problem with the controller. In addition, the cheap little tailight that came with the bike broke on my second ride when I hit a small bump. I hope to resolve the problem diretly with the Urtopia Company. I love the bike, but not the shop. There are many fine bike shops in Eugene who stand behind what they sell. Eugene Electric Bikes is not one of those.

But that only gets you so far. I order 2 main jets for the bike I am working on for a friend. I ordered them on March 13 (Wednesday) and she said they are pretty fast at getting the deliveries. She said should be here on Tuesday due to the weekend. No problem. I call on Tuesday and no part. Okay, understand. She then says Wednesday lookin good but by Thursday...okay. I don't call on Wednesday because she said she would call...no call. Okay. So Thursday I call. She said no parts yet and she was go8ng away for the weekend and she won't be in on Friday but she will leave a note. I'm thinking oh goody, a note. So I call around 2pm on Friday. This is where I about lose my shit. (DON'T WANT TO OF COURSE) The kid that answered was obviously just a body with a head to say "Yes, we are open. Because anything past that, JUST DON'T!!!! Never got the parts...and let me just add...the 2 jets I ordered were gonna cost me 20 dollars. I went on Amazon and bought a kit of 10 various sizes of main jets and 10 various sizes of pilot jets for $9.99. I ordered yesterday. Got them today and bike is running better than new. Good luck to this local business that is going down unfortunately. Thank you Amazon for doing an OUTSTANDING JOB!!!!
