Book the Hawaiian Foodie Bike Tour! My wife and I recently rode this tour w guide Kelly Beck and had a delicious and filling time. Location: mainly Kapahulu Ave. and Monsarrat Ave., we often rode on the sidewalk which felt awkward to me but was safer than riding w busy traffic. Parking: we met our guide in the parking lot of Kapiolani Park, near the zoo, along Kapahulu Ave. Free parking and away from the crowds. Our guide: Kelly Beck. He was great - friendly, enthusiastic, and informative. He used a wireless speaker system, he had the microphone on his shirt and each of us had a wireless speaker attached to the handlebars of our bikes. We've been on other bike tours that didn't use this tech, using it enabled us to easily hear what he was saying as he led us. He's a former endurance athlete but the tour was easy - flat and low speed w frequent stops. Gear: - city bikes w multiple gears, fenders, good brakes, and clean. Each had a pouch in front to store stuff. - he supplied us w 3 large bottles of water, more than enough. - helmets: we previously told them I need an XL helmet for my big head and they remembered, it was a clean comfortably fitting helmet. This is where we went: -Diamond Head Market & Grill, Monsarrat Ave., *good, so good we returned for dinner: - miso ginger salmon, wasabi ahi, good sauce -South Shore Grill, was closed, fish tacos -ARS Cafe, coffee shop/food, we took a look inside -Rainbow Drive-In, just looked -Bailey's Antiques and Aloha Shirts, literally thousands of Aloha shirts, the racks were stuffed! -Da Ono: good lunch of lau lau, haupia, ube -Ono Seafood: we shared a small portion of poke (we had high expectations for this place but the poke was so-so) -Wailoa Shave Ice for a shave ice for each of us. -Leonard's! We each had a malasada, freshly fried and warm, yum. We rode through the the neighborhood on our return to the parking lot. Kelly gave us commentary on the houses, real estate, trees/plants, and the local customs and news. We're glad we booked this tour. read more

Kelly, the owner and bike tour guide is truly what makes this tour outstanding. he is so kind to the customer and to the people around him in the community. He was so kind to help my older mom, a beginner on a bike become comfortable and confident. He even asked people to move for her on the bike trail as she was wobbly and nervous. It's obvious the restaurants know and love him as well as his customers. I admit I am a food snob and the food choices were mind blowing- I mean just superb. Book it! If you are staying in Waikiki and want to explore the island away from the "Times Square touristy areas" take a bike tour with Kelly! Kelly's talking guide tour exceeded my expectations. I researched many different tour options and for our land led adventure and finally decided to customize a bike trip with the family so we could have a private sight seeing adventure with a local and get some exercise. He had a mic with speakers on the bikes, a few snacks, plenty of bottled water and pointed out many things along our way as we put the pedal to the medal. We started at 1015am at the meet up location, got our helmets on and Kelly led us safely through a few high-end neighborhoods with all the educational insights, including his rich historical knowledge and a guided hike up to Diamond head. He would hold up traffic so our group could safely navigate different areas off the bike path, and I felt very safe with his guiding. We stopped at a couple of points along the way and took sometime to feed some beautiful birds outside the Honolulu zoo in a gorgeous park. We ended the trip with an amazing fish taco and fries and he suggested a local Breakfast joint we tried out that was on the money. If I had more time I'd do the food tour with Kelly on bike too. Kelly also took many family photos and made us a video surprise that we could share with family back home to give them a glimpse into our vacation. He also gifted us with sanitizer which came in handy! The sanitizer has a QR code to his website that links to several other recommended restaurants and places to check out in the area. Really nice guy that has thought of everything and I'd highly recommend you give him a chance to show you around! Keep in mind you are on island time! It was nice that he stayed with us a little extra and didn't rush us at any of the stops...so flexible and exactly at our own pace. It was a hazy day with "pineapple showers" but we still got farmers tans so note to self...put on sunscreen in advance if you don't want to cook with a weird tan line look. Happy riding! read more

We did the foodie tour and it was superb. Kelly is an entertaining guide and provided post-tour lists of the places we visited. I advise the tour be done on day 1 of your stay so you can go back and revisit the places you loved. We did, and saved lots of money and got much better food than we would have with standard Waikiki restaurants. Most are within a moderate walk from Waikiki. read more

We took the Honolulu foodie tour with Kelly and it was great fun, our best experience during a five day holiday. While I am an experienced bicycle tourist, my wife is not. No problem! Kelly tailored the route for us. It was an easy ride with plenty of stops so it was never unpleasant for either of us. The bikes and helmets provided were in excellent condition. We visited some amazing places off the beaten path, far away from the tourist hordes in Waikiki. Some of the spots looked like holes-in-the-wall, but the quality everywhere was excellent. WOW! WOW! WOW! What an incredible adventure! My husband and I join Kelly, our guide, for an in depth food tour around Waikiki Beach. Kelly was professional and fun. He provided a safe environment for all of us. He knows the island like the back of his hand. We stopped at 6-7 food places and made numerous stops at interesting points along the way. We got together around 12:45pm and made it back at 6:00pm. Our group did not have a rush to get back to the starting point, so Kelly took us around more places and sights than planned. I don't want to give away all of Kelly's secrets because I hope everyone can experience it for themselves! My only wish is there to be a "Kelly" in every city I visit! This was by far the best tour! Kelly is the man with the plan!!! This was a such a perfect blend of fitness, authentic tour knowledge, and breathtaking views. Kelly was our tour guide and you can tell he knows every inch of this tour (and every person we passed! Even a particular rooster named Rickie that literally chased him down for food.) He was fun and interactive; he is a great conversationalist. I was very impressed with his wide depth of knowledge whether it was history, culture, music, local stuff going on, or food (he does a separate food tour, too), but even more I *appreciated* how much he cared about our experience and our safety(!!!) He always put himself in the right place at the right time; whether it was being in front to signal drivers or in the back to slow them down. He took 150+ photos which we will cherish for years. You can really tell he loves Honolulu and showing folks the island. I highly recommend doing this at the *beginning* of your trip because it'll give you a much better appreciation for the layout of Honolulu (and why it is the way it is) as you explore. Also - if you're driving to meet him, make sure to verify which parking lot to go to as this can save you a lot of stress looking for parking (there is very little that is less than 2hr) or expensive lots. Kelly, a longtime local, really knows his stuff and is eager to spread the knowledge! Picked us up when/where he said, supplied everything, and laid out exactly what to expect. Stopped many times for lessons on fish, surfing, history, architecture, people, restaurants, events... Tons of pictures are part of the package - you don't need to bring anything but yourself (and I suggest money for a tip because this guy earns it). My husband and I wanted to experience the North Shore as a contrast to Waikiki where we were staying, so we did the full day North Shore Bike Tour. This gave us exactly what we were looking for and more. Not only did we get great exposure to the area, but received a fantastic account and history of the island. Kelly is, indeed, knowledgeable about Hawaiian culture, surfing, restaurants, and more. The biking portion was just what we'd sought - a balance of good physical activity and time to take in the sites. We had some really awesome food along the way, with Kelly having us stop at local favorites, like Giovanni's for delicious shrimp. Kelly takes a lot of photos, which he "drops" to you at the end of the tour. He also gave great insight and recommendations on restaurants, events, and activities. Overall, Kelly created an unforgettable experience for us. Next time I'm here, I'll surely do one of his other tours. I highly recommend this tour as a great way to spend a day in the North Shore. read more

We spent a great day on bikes doing a local foodie tour with Kelly. We got picked up at our hotel and taken to Waikiki, by Tom. He was on time and dropped us of at the Duke Kahanamoku statue. That is where we hopped on the new bikes and started on our journey. Kelly was awesome. We pedaled down towards the War Memorial. Stopped at several restaurants; Banan, Leonard's, among others. Because the restaurants were not in Waikiki proper, the cost of the food was super reasonable, so we will be going back to many on our own. Kelly was also very knowledgeable about the area, so it was a foody tour + sightseeing tour all in one. Our only regret is that we didn't take this tour at the start of our vacation, so that we were armed with where to go for good food without paying crazy prices. I was looking for a great way to get some exercise and enjoy the sights around Oahu. I definitely found both in the Bike to Hike Tour offered by Bike Tour Hawaii. The tour started beach side at a beautiful banyan tree and the sights just kept getting better. As we traveled up the coast towards Diamond Head, we stopped at some great out of the way beaches and got to watch the surfers. Then we ended up at the Hawaii Five O Studio location! Before going through the tunnel to the inside of the crater, we stopped and looked out towards the east side of the island. It was really something to be able to see that view from that vantage point. Going through the tunnel to the inside of the crater was also an interesting experience. This is where the beginning of the hike started. I really enjoyed that our guide Kelly brought snacks and drinks to keep hydrated. He was very informative about the history of the area and really worked to make the tour comfortable for all the guests. The weather really cooperated and when we got to the top, the views were just amazing. You could see all up and down the coast and practically to the airport. The different colors of the water were really something else. After we hiked down, we stopped at one of the local places to eat and got a plate lunch. It was a great way to top off the day. Was this tour something I would do again, definitely. The pictures we got of the views were outstanding and getting out and doing something healthy was a great way to enjoy the island. read more

We love to do quirky tours and this foodie tour of Honolulu fit the bill perfectly! Kelly knew his stuff about the city, had lots of good conversation going at all times, took us to really great spots for locale fare, and made sure that we rode safely through the busy streets. Total riding distance was a couple of miles, total. So it wasn't anything close to an epic ride. Just a fun afternoon seeing a different side of the city than normal tourism fare. We stopped at several wonderful places for fish tacos, Lau Lau, Malasadas, Ban'an, and local coffee, We even got to see the Hokule'a, a Polynesian canoe that just returned fro a 3 year voyage.
