Even mainland riders ask me how did you get your bike to go that fast or where the parts came from. I tell em George at Motosource. We're lucky to have a shop like them that's easy to get to. I've been to many moped shops over the years. It's a relatively small community so everyone knows who the go to guys are. Don't believe me? Call the shop. George is not only helpful but he's fair, honest and actually cares about the work that he does. I've never once felt ripped off or that they didn't do a good job when I left the shop. Bottom line...Top notch customer service with top notch mechanical work. Back to it being a small community for the past year no one has been allowed to touch my moped except for George and his crew. I've been bamboozled enough times to know great work when I see it. He recently did souped up my 72cc water cooled (well not water it's an actual radiator but you get the point) moped. Up to a 120 cc water cooled kit that is insanely fast now. So if you want great work done at more than reasonable prices then this is the shop for you. read more

He's super helpful, honest, and always tries to save you money where he can without sacrificing the quality of his work or mopeds. I've seen some of the reviews complain about not being able to get in right away to fix their moped issues but honestly, I'd be weary of the ones that could take you in the same day. George, James and the gang at MotoSource is the only place I take my bikes to have repaired, modified etc. They have done what some others couldn't do. Every project I take there they have come through for me. I've met alot of other riders and made friends through them. James is my primary tuner and does an excellent job that others can't even match, even mainland shops. My last project 89 CW50C was modified by Chad and it turned out great. They installed the large disc rotor whicj I thought wouldn't have fit. My 04 Zuma is awaiting the Daytona wheels and forks install next. I trust only them to do it. I recomend this shop for anyone with the Yamaha/Minarelli design motor. read more

This is an edit to a lower rated review. Very busy shop. Can be hard to schedule an appointment. Which can be challenging living in waipahu, with rail construction it takes me more than an hour to get to the shop. Whatever issues come up, George is willing to work them out and get them resolved. I sold my brand new moped never rode it before, because I was moving. He was supposed to pay me $1000. He's been jerking me around for years and just because he thinks he can get away with it because I moved to a different state. He's a liar and even if he write contracts down, do not trust him. He will come up with every excuse in the world to not pay you. Now I will have to go through legal issues with him. He rips people off and doesn't care. DO NOT TRUST GEORGE THE OWNER. He's a liar and a thief. And doesn't sell good products and rips people off, that is why he almost went out of business and that is why he probably will go out of business. I have done business with George and his staff at MotoSource for five years. I bought 2 Rexy 50's from him, and both have run great and required only minimal service. George does good work and is very knowledgeable about his field. More importantly, George is an ethical businessman who is honest and hardworking. His repairs are always very affordable, and multiple times he has done work for me for free, for example if he didn't catch some minor secondary issue when evaluating my bike to give me a service quote. I'm really dissatisfied with my experience at MotoSource. I came into the store in April 2016 and asked about buying a new moped. The owner of the place told me that he had no new mopeds, but that he could sell me a used one for half the price of a new one. Since I only wanted one for short commutes, I had no problem with that. I asked if it could be delivered right away since I was paying every day for a rental car to get back and forth to work. He told me that he could "probably" have it ready the next week, and "definitely" the week after that if there were still problems with the moped that needed fixing. Well, I took him at his word, and I paid for the thing in full that day as a gesture of good faith. I also paid an extra $60 for delivery since I couldn't take the moped on the highway near where I lived. He offers to throw in a free helmet because I pay up front. Fast forward two weeks, and the moped still isn't delivered. The owner's hours are weird, and he's hard to get ahold of. He's also not great at returning calls. He finally calls me back - says that he had the flu, his whole shop had the flu, he had guys out - whatever. At least he's finally going to deliver it. So the delivery guy brings it out to my wife while I'm at work. He shows my wife how to start it, starts it up once, and then leaves. He forgets my helmet, of course. I get home and don't touch it for a couple of days because I'm busy with other things. I leave a message about the helmet, but he doesn't respond. Oh well - I go out and buy another. On the weekend, I finally get a chance to ride my bike! Except... it won't start. The engine won't turn over. The kickstart doesn't work. There's no user manual with the bike. Google provides no user manual for a 50cc SMC JOC. I try everything I can think of for 30 minutes trying to start it - squeezing one brake or the other, center stand down/up, kickstand down/up, trying to find the sweet spot on the kickstart, rolling the bike back and forth, messing with the throttle - you name it. I finally give up and call the owner. No response. And I call, and I call, and I call. So far my wife and I have left 4 messages. It's been 2 weeks since the thing was delivered. Had a friend over to look at it - he couldn't figure out why it won't start, either. So I have two things: a moped that doesn't start, and a pretty crappy customer experience. No helmet, no call back, no help. I give the guy two stars since he seems friendly enough, but man, I'm pretty unimpressed with how he treats his customers. Caveat emptor - buyer beware. read more

You can't go wrong here. I have never been disappointed. I buy accessories and oil from them. The owner is a wealth of knowledge about mopeds and the industry. They are extremely dedicated to the products they care and are very selective about what they do carry. As a result, they only work on the mopeds they carry. They want to make sure they can really specialize and provide the best product. Unfortunately for me I have a moped from somewhere else. Don't let that be a negative because the owner has been great about advice and sharing what other shops have quality reputations when it comes to service. I called MotoSource when I had a flat tire on my moped and didn't want to give my business to Apex since the owner is an A**hole. The man who answered the phone at MotoSource said he couldn't work on it since it was a Pronto (which only Apex sells) but he could recommend his brother who is a mechanic for mopeds and he came out the same day I called him and fixed it for me at a low price. He even went above and beyond with cleaning the outside scuffs and tightening my mirrors. Both of them are friendly, accomodating and knew what they were doing. I will definitely be back for all moped issues and recommend them to my friends. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because labor cost was a little high but that's ok with me because the work was well done. Thank you, MotoSource! Highly recommended. read more

I had been having trouble swapping out my new license plate on my motorcycle when I found this place on yelp. I called to ask if they would be able to help. The man I spoke with on the phone was George. He was polite and seemed to genuinely care about my issue. He informed me that unfortunately the shop did not work on my particular kind of bike but if I wanted to come in he would take a look and see what he could do. So, I did. Upon arrival George introduced himself and took a look at my bike. Fortunately, he was able to help with my problem and didn't even charge me! Turns out George is actually the owner. What I like best is that any time I need a repair the work is always explained to me and broken down. There are never any hidden fees or surprises. MSH has the best, most knowledgeable staff in the islands when it comes to mopeds. I researched all the dealers here on Oahu when it came time to replace my dead Yamaha. Other dealers & service shops wanted my dead Yamaha plus as much as I paid for the brand new SMC out the door at MSH. Oh... what killed the Yamaha? Another local repair shop that has changed locations at least 3 times. The reveiw by George b seems to be totally opposite from my experience with MSH. They will only sell you a used part after telling you that it is and what may happen because of the fact the part is used. read more

George is awesome. I've been dealing with him since 1992. He is very straight forward and is very fair in pricing compared to other moped shops. I would recommend the Rexy mopeds he brings in to anyone looking for QUALITY in a moped. There are a lot of other shops bringing in their own brands of mopeds, but the fact is there only two moped brands that rate high in quality and durability and the Rexy is one of them. His staff is very helpful and knowledgable. You will not find another moped shop with cleaner more professional looking staff then Motosource. Go and visit for yourself, and compare Motosource with other shops. Look at the facilities, is the person you are talking to clean and helpful or do they look like some backyard butcher who thinks the know about mopeds There are only three stores that have been in the business as long as George has. My Rexy Moped starting to crap out--lost speed on the take-off, top speed deteriorate. George and his crew gave me a straightforward estimate of the cost and recommendations for better maintenance. Even though the on-call mechanic had limited time, they still managed to turn the bike repair around in 2 hours despite the predicted 4 or 5 hours. The moped runs like a dream now. I read somewhere that George, the owner is all nice and sweet with you DURING the process of selling you one of his scooters, or other products... but all that changes AFTER you buy it! -- And they were right!!!! I bought a moped from him, a REXY which is an awesome piece of machinery, I might add, but when I went back to pick something up from his store, he was cold as ice and very indifferent. When something went wrong with an accessory item I bought, he told me on the phone that it was easy to fix and to bring it in. After he so-called "fixed" it in front f me, I was not satisfied w/ the results, but I didn't think he cared at all what I felt and you could feel that he was putting out the vibe, to say, "Look, I am too damn busy to be fooling around with your trivial matter, here, pal."So I left. Next day, I called him back because his "quick-fix-it solution did not work, and it was as I originally thought: THE ITEM IS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDS TO BE EXCHANGED. Mind you, I only had the product 3 days when it fell apart. George's manager did give me a new product when I came in the second time, but you could see that she wasn't too friendly about it, or congenial. I just went back about one week ago for 2 tiny items which required only about 2 minutes of his time. As soon as George sees me, he says, kinda' rudely, "Look, I don't have very much time. I have to do something." And yes, it did take just two minutes, as I thought, but why the attitude? What happened to the incredibly friendly service I received the day I bought my scooter? What happened to the customer service he promised I would receive? If his customer service makes you feel like you just stole something from George or his shop, be it his time, energy or products, then that's not good customer service, even if the scooters he sells are the best in Hawaii. George always looks like he depressed, bored, busy, tired, and just plain uninterested in your problems. He looks like a very unhappy man. I like his scooters, but not his lame attitude. read more
