I was happy to find a Bikram yoga studio so close to my house. The facility is nice even though there is a strong odor from the studio. I cannot continue practicing there because how annoying the owner is. This is a much older woman who will not stop nagging me. It's a shame because I do love all the other instructors. I LOVE this studio, and haven't been able to find a replacement. I've been coming for years and they are consistently evolving and getting better. Now they have different types of classes that vary in terms of postures and difficulty. The classes I attend are strict -- the same 26 postures every class for 90 minutes. But that's what I appreciate about it, I love consistency. I'm absolutely shredding the extra weight I gained during the pandemic and it's only taking 3-4 classes a week and good healthy eating! You just can't beat this type of yoga IMO. read more

A few things you need to know before you go: 1) There is a sweaty, moldy smell when you first step foot into the studio, but you get over it once you're in pain (or relaxation) 2) Bring a yoga mat, bath towel, hand towel, and water or else they'll charge you rental fee 3) Nothing in the studio except the items listed above 4) 26 poses repeated twice each, half are on your feet and half are on the floor 5) Take sips of water in between poses but not during 6) The locker room is clean but small. It has two changing spaces, two showers, and two restrooms. 7) If you're allergic to cats, I don't recommend going to this location. 8) You can find everything on their website, which I highly recommend checking out because there are lots of useful tips I really enjoyed the session with Jennifer because she's effervescent, encouraging, and inspirational. She told a few stories to keep us motivated. I do wish she did some of the poses with us to ensure we're doing it correctly. Nonetheless, there were lots of veterans in my class so it's easy to look around and see how it should be done. My advice: 1) The less clothes, the better 2) Bring more water than you would normally bring to the gym 3) Sit close to the windows because the instructor will open it to let in some breeze 4) Stay in the back of the room if you're new to bikram yoga because there are experienced people who will guide you through the poses if the instructor is talking too fast read more

One of the best yoga studios ever! I really love how close knit this yoga studio is. The teachers make an effort to get to know each student. I love how they are always using our names and then giving personal advice to you. If you haven't been to a Bikram Yoga class before, you should really know what you're getting yourself into. So, Bikram Yoga isn't for people who want a light exercise. It is a hard core ninety minute moving meditation. What does that mean? It means you are getting a full cardio workout at 105 degrees at 40% humidity. Translation: you barely can breathe so you really have to concentrate. It's difficult at first, but this place is especially addicting. I love coming here three sometimes four a week. The only part that sucks is the time commitment and you'll have to double the frequency you do laundry. But other than that, this place is amazing! read more

WOW! My new favorite activity is hot yoga. What a great way to incorporate meditation with a more physical aspect to it. (And I'm like the least flexible/most worrisome person ever) It was my first time doing Bikram yoga, so I don't have any other experience at other studio locations, but the service and experience was wonderful at the Richardson location. I bought a Groupon for 20 passes, and when I walked in for the first time I was greeted by friendly and helpful staff. They explained to me the process and what I needed to bring (I actually ended up having to rent towels for $2 because it's required so you don't slip in the room from sweat). You get a scanner to "check-in" every time you come, so that's how you keep track of your passes. The 90-minute detox session: Man, it gets hot!! You start sweating even with the warm up sets, which consists of breathing. However, the instructors really are great at what they do, motivating and encouraging you to get through the session. If you're a first-timer, they'll introduce you to the group and focus on paying closer attention to you to make sure you're comfortable. During my 3rd session here, I actually started feeling numb in my feet and face (oddest thing ever, never felt like that before, even after a hard work-out). The instructor noticed I was resting and took the time to make sure I was okay, and she did this smoothly without interrupting the rest of the class. She even opened the window for me to let some air in. Each session consists of the same poses, in the same order. So you should know what to expect each time you go in. Overall, I hope to make this a routinely practice whenever I have the time and would highly recommend this place. I was revitalized physically, mentally, AND emotionally after each session! TIPS: Bring WATER, a yoga mat, and TWO towels (one long one to cover your yoga mat in and another to wipe yourself with). It also seems like a place where you don't want to be late in; they start on time and utilize the full 90 minutes. I could not be more disgusted by the stench reeking from the studio. I've been practicing hot yoga for 3 years so I thought I knew what to expect when I tried out this studio first the first time: the heat, the sweat, no problem. But OMG the smell was so overwhelming that by the time we got to the breathing exercise I felt like gagging every time I tried to breathe in with my nose and breathe out with my mouth. I wish I had seen a review about the stench before I purchased the deal from Living Social, but at least now I know and I could never bring myself going back again. I love hot yoga but seriously, breathing in so much disgusting-smelling air cannot be good for me. I don't understand all the previous 5 star reviews and one particularly describing it as "the best smelling studio". Seriously?! I am an absolute big fan of Bikram Yoga. When I first arrived in this country, I was in search for my new go-to place for Yoga; even prior to my arrival - I was on the internet back home in New Zealand checking out where to go for Bikram once I relocate. Bikram for me is essential. It is not only a form of exercise for me but also a form of meditation. It keeps me sane. It is my happy place. It brings me to Nirvana. So the first Bikram location I tried is the one in Dallas in Lakewood, I didn't enjoy this location as much for various reasons but we will not get into that. Anyway, I was given a voucher to try Bikram in Richardson. This voucher was from living social and included 20 classes. Thanks Thy! Now I live in Garland so it is a stretch of a drive and when I looked at my GPS to navigate myself there, I was reluctant. It is so far. However, I'm so glad that I didn't bother to re-gift the voucher because once I arrived that their facility, the staff were so welcoming. I even arrived right on the dot when class was about to start and they signed me up regardless. I love that they wait for people and have not turned people away. Upon entering the Bikram room, I must admit that the odor is unwelcoming.. Obviously the flooring is made of carpet and sweat residue is there, I mean you can smell it. I highly suggest that these floors be replaced with wood flooring or vinyl or whatever! Anything besides carpet please! Needless to say, this won't bring my rating of 5 stars down. The smell is tolerable for me because I am there to workout and find Nirvana in the end. The instructors are so helpful, the flow is great and they do not rush the class. Instructions are clear and understandable for beginners. I have taken two people with me here so far both of which were beginners to Bikram and they absolutely loved it. I give credit to the staff because I think it's what makes the place. An added value. So two things for suggestions: 1)Flooring needs changing. 2) Back home in New Zealand at my Bikram go-to, at the end of the workout when we are all lying down in "Savasana" the instructors would dim the room (which you already do) and play soothing/meditation music at the end when relaxing the body after the vigorous practice. Do you want to get your ass kicked and be happy about it? You have to try Bikram Yoga! I credit this studio with helping me get an even better body post baby. They fired up my metabolism! I purchased a deal for Bikram Yoga online and so did a couple of friends. I was ready to bust my ass and get those pregnancy pounds gone. I had done yoga before but never hot yoga. Wow. The first class was incredibly intense but I made it all the way through. And afterwards, despite being very sweaty (almost like you've been in the shower) and exhausted, I felt amazing. Strong and powerful. I won't lie - every class was intense, but I saw almost immediate results. Every bit of sweat and occasional misery was worth it. Yes, when you first walk in the door to the yoga room, it really smells. But for me, by the time I got into it, I was no longer smelling it. Your body adjusts and your mind SHOULD be focused on your body and practice and not your surroundings. I took classes with multiple instructors, there was only really one I didn't care for but I wouldn't go so far as saying I disliked her. The instructors can be a bit like drill sergeants so if you are imagining a flowery hippie leading this yoga class, think again. The reason I actually took off a star is because they are SO expensive. I wish I could have kept up my practice, I truly loved it, but it was way too expensive for me to justify. Found the yoga instructors to be a fairly obnoxious lot, running the gamut from sounding like auctioneers, to just seeming really vain and into their own personal fitness rather than trying to be helpful...the Billy Blanks tae bo-looking guy in particular. Their carpeted floor feels unsanitary, and smells bad. You have to get your face pretty close to it on several occasions, and it's just not pleasant to think about all that sweat that has dripped onto it. Grouponers rejoice! It's definitely worth the buy when there is a special on there - and I do have a feeling that I will be a regular member once I've used up my passes I purchased from groupon. When you walk in, you're welcomed by the friend staff, one is usually the instructor of the session and the other is working front desk at the time. feel free to ask any questions if there is time! Yes! Time! They are serious when they say arrive 15 minutes early - to receive a good spot, to relax before your session, maybe change or use the restroom. The classes start on the dot and no one is allowed to come in once the class has started. Remember to eat a few hours before the class (protein and some carbs - lightly) and eat after the class too. Hydrating is important more so listening to your body and your teacher there too. Newbies, be sure to sit by the big door/window - there's actually moving air over there! Going two days in a row your first time will change your concept of working out in an 110 degree room. And from the other reviews, no it doesn't smell like stanky raw onion old sweat In there (unless someone carries that smell at the time), the floors are a great hard texture so you don't lose balance whole stretching, and don't be an idiot like me who brought a watch in that has an alarm! I completely forgot that my watch goes off - so I got in trouble for a second. This is a great place to relax and learn discipline for your body and strength. This is my 2nd studio since I moved from San Diego. I love it here!! It always super clean and very inviting to even the most timid first timer. I have been doing Bikram for almost 5 years....I cant get enough of it!!! Yes its hot....but you are going to feel damn good once you get out. Does it smell?? Well if you turn your house up to 105 degrees...how Febreeze fresh will your house be?? Its very manageable....I dont really notice it because I am so "in the zone" when I am there. The instructors are very helpful in helping you get into the posture correctly....they will give you individual instructions during class if they see that you are almost there. There are also available after class for any questions you have. I love how they know everyone's names and always greet you by name when you scan your key card. All shapes and sizes are welcome....dont be shy to put on those short shorts and come on in. No one is going to care what you wear....how un-bendy you are...or even how clumsy you are. First timers....just stay in the room if thats all you can do. Drink plenty of water and watch the people in front of you to get the gist of the posture. It will take a while but be patient...before you know it....you will be doing camel pose like a pro! You are going to want to run out of the room...but once you are done...you are going to feel re-energized! Any advice I can give to a first timer..have an open mind...and be prepared to sweat your ass off!!! read more

This studio is beautifully put together: the floor, the bathrooms, the lobby --everything is amazing! The studio also has really mellow, sweet cats. I also love the proximity to UT Dallas. I will definitely find a way to come back! Beware, the classes include sometimes stern correction because it's about working out, not stagnating! This is by far my favorite bikram yoga studio! It's pretty deep in the suburbs, roughly 15-20 minutes drive from the Galleria, but I love coming in for the 8:15pm session after work when I'm traveling to Dallas. The facility is clean and modern and the glass windows on the back wall of the studio help open up the space; it helps me feel less stuffy and claustrophobic. People make a big deal about the smell, but it is expected and you will get used to it. The instructors are professional and friendly. They push you hard, but they are very encouraging and attentive. Yes, it is expensive compared to other studios ($20 for a single class), but it is well worth it. To those people looking to get into shape and achieve all-round healthiness, bikram yoga is the best possible exercise / relaxation activity! It's a 90 minute session made up of 26 postures in a ridiculously hot room, half of which are standing postures (including a number of challenging balance and compression postures), and half on the floor. Bikram yoga is all about that balance between strength and flexibility, which is great for people who want to tone up without bulking up. These postures can really revitalize your bodily functions to flush out toxins, increase metabolism, and regulate energy throughout the day. It has changed my life! I have been practicing at this studio since July 2012, and I LOVE coming here! Yassi, Christina, Jenn, Jennifer, Brian, Eugene, Misty, and Terry are the best instructors on the planet! If you have never tried bikram yoga, i have two pieces of advice before checking it out: 1) hydrate, hydrate, hydrate BEFORE class! 2) don't forget to breathe I tell everyone I know about my bikram yoga studio because I love all the benefits I get from it -- physical strength, weight loss, toning, mental focus, determination, improved will power, and spirital connectedness. Previously, my workouts consisted of running, weight training, insanity videos, and bodyrock.tv, and I will say that everything that I gain from bikram yoga surpasses all of them. The room is hot, but you'll get used to it. The 90 minutes of 26 poses done twice through will kick your arse, but just come back and do it again. I have been practicing Bikram for several years but just checked out Richardson for the first time this week, while visiting my family for holidays. I went to the 9:30am class every day last week. Even though there was a different instructor every day, the consistency was surprising. The heat was not overbearing, the pace was right on, and the instructors were all very engaging and motivating. The size of the studio was perfect -- I felt like I had plenty of room even in the most crowded of classes. As others mentioned, the studio was clean and welcoming, with lots of natural light. I was able to pick up some nice pose corrections from the instructors as well as from observing other students. One guy practicing next to me yesterday (who's a regular there) is apparently ranked in state. Highly Recommended! read more

I really like this studio. I've been to other studios but this particular one tops my list. Pros: - IT DOESN'T SMELL LIKE THE DEVIL'S FEET. The studio is non-carpeted (wood floors). I heard/read that a "real" bikram studio has carpet but screw that. There's no zen when you got the devil's feet kicking your nose right in between your eyes for 90 minutes. - staff is overall pleasant and engaging - studio is clean including the lobby and bathroom - generous studio space Cons: - If you are allergic to cats, there are 2 docile cats that roams quietly in the lobby. I tried this studio out for the first time after moving across town. It's fantastic! The decor is very nice, lots of natural lighting, and the dressing rooms have plenty of showers for a quick rinse-off after class. Other reviews mentioned the smell, but I found it about the same as other studios I've been to. (With that much sweat, there's bound to be a little funk!) Also, for those who haven't tried Bikram, it's a major workout that will leave you feeling fantastic! I am a chiropractor and recommend it to all my patients who are struggling to increase joint & body mobility through exercise. I like the format and the instructors. I truly get a good work out every time and feel the work the next day. My only complaint is the horrible smell and the roaming cats. The teachers are varied in their knowledge and intuition, in their perspective and understanding of the Bikram practice. There is not one teacher at this studio who doesn't challenge me. I don't have a single session where I am not learning, whether it is to improve breathing, stretching, pacing, focusing, balancing, listening to my body, quieting my mind, engaging muscle groups, cycling back to the importance of a stable core, or even remembering to smile. I've been looking for a good yoga studio for months. I've tried a few throughout richardson and this is by far my favorite! I stopped in for a 60 minute hot yoga class and I loved it! My favorite thing was how welcoming everyone was. Sometimes it's difficult going to a new studio by yourself as you don't know each studios normal routine... but here they were so kind and helpful. I have a love hate relationship with Bikram yoga. Read up on the controversy on Bikram and you'll understand the hate part. But, I feel great when I practice consistently. I have some old lower back injury from CrossFit- Bikram yoga is the one form of yoga that keeps the pain and ache in check for me. I've looked into other yoga studios closer to my home - they are either too busy (Black swan) or too corporate (Core Power). So I bought a groupon to try Bikram Richardson for 10 classes. It's about 15 minutes from work and 30 minutes from home. I stayed away for a while after I finished my groupon. Eventually I bought a 3 months' unlimited membership, to see how I like it and if I can keep up the routine. We will see how that goes. About this studio: location is great, plenty of parking. Space is nice - very spacious. 3 showers, 2 toilets, and 2 private changing rooms in the ladies. If you get unlimited membership you can store your mat there, use their mat and towel service (mat towel + bath towel). I'll address the odor some Yelpers mentioned- yes there is an odor in the yoga room. That's because it's 105F and people sweat. I do wish they'd do something to address that (maybe burn some incense/candles? But that might offend someone, who knows!). I wish people who drip puddle of sweats would double up their mat towel, or keep a shirt on. I wish people who have BO would put on some deodorant. Or they could have better ventilation (?). And yes they do have a cat in the studio- it hangs out in the front area. If you are allergic you would have an issue with that. I also do wish that they offer a water filter machine where students can get a refill for free. This is really standard at a lot of yoga studios. Instructors are awesome. I've only been to their noon 60-minute class. All instructors are great. You should know that Bikram is Bikram - they don't (normally) demonstrate posture and they definitely don't do physical correction. If you're new to this practice you should start with a 90-minute class because everything is done twice, so you get a chance to observe postures before you try. read more

I'm fairly new to Bikram yoga but I find it really helpful for my everyday stress. I think this studio is great, the class sizes are perfect and the asian female instructor Christina? gives off a great concentrating vibe that puts me into focus. The only thing I would change is to get rid of the special deals like the recent Living Social one that causes people who are disruptive to the classes by being late from participating. This studio was my first exposure to Bikram yoga, I had previously done more of a "flow" yoga and I think I prefer the flow yoga to Bikram. I was not relaxed at all and even the Savasana (corpse pose) was not relaxing at all. I felt like I was in a bad infomercial or something every time we went to the pose because the instructor was pitching something to buy, go to, etc. During the entire class I felt it was more like my old drill sergeant leading the class rather than a fellow yogi. The biggest issue I have is the smell in the studio. It smells less like sweat and more like their cat. I'm a cat lover/owner but the studio smelled like walking into someone's house who owns several cats. My nose was stuffy and irritated for several days after the class. I've checked the entire website and nowhere does it mention they have a cat on premises which really should be mentioned for those who are allergic so they can choose another studio. Sadly I paid money for a certificate that I'll never use again due to the smell and if every Bikram yoga instructor is like the one I experienced I simply have no desire to return to any Bikram yoga class anywhere. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with this place. I love the class, it kicks your butt and you feel amazing afterward, best. sweat. ever. However the staff here is absolutely awful. I've been coming here for a while off and on, and you'd think at a yoga studio people would be in a decent, mellow and generally happy mood if they really cared about sharing and engaging in the practice of yoga. The girl at the front desk doesn't even look me in the eye when I'm speaking with her, she just about looks everywhere else. It's just not professional and borderline rude, quite frankly. I called one day to ask about the re-introductory offer and spoke to Cindy, who was nothing but short with me the entire phone conversation. She huffed and puffed and sighed as if I was wasting her time. What a horrendous attitude. I was once in class and someone walked in 2 minutes late and the instructor scolded him in front of the entire class, demanding a reason for his tardiness. Is this how you treat your paying customers? I'm definitely appalled by their lousy attitudes on multiple occasions. What a sad way to run a business. read more

The new flooring has definitely given the studio a new aesthetic apeal, i.e. no more sweaty stains and age-old sweat smell seeping through the carpet. The studio can comfortably fit 30-40 people so it can get a bit hairy on the weekends, but on weekdays you'll easily find a spot. This studio is good about etiquette so arrive early and make sure to read their website before coming if you're a newbie. Times can vary but they're pretty accomodating to schedules, and their website is comprehensive in explaining poses, studio etiquette, times, and specials. The first 2-3 classes can be challenging (especially in the heat), but hang in there and you'll see the benefits...toned legs, glowing skin...um, yes please. read more

This location is not a win. I bought a Groupon because someone said it was amazing --- it wasn't. I'm going to preface this by saying this is my first time doing bikram yoga, so I won't be reviewing the actual practice itself - just the staff and establishment. I do athletic hot yoga regularly. 1. Front desk girl will not smile to save her life. Not friendly, even though I showed apprehension and told her it's my first time with the practice. She did her schpiel about the rules and shoo'd me away. 2. The room DOES smell. Maybe it's the 15 degree hike, but my hot yoga studio smells like essential oils. The gym locker room smell at this studio was nauseating. 3. Our instructor called out the newbies by name, presumably to make us feel welcome and make us feel like we are not just a number. I thought this was nice, until... 4. Sassy Yassy/Jazzy picked on one newbie for not getting something right. She is studying to be a yoga teacher and Jazzy/Yassy was like, "That's definitely not what they teach in school. You say you're gonna be a teacher?" Wow. Bitch much? 5. This instructor also yells at us to do as she says, but doesn't do a single move with us. Her body composition makes me think that she cannot follow the moves. I have seen enough yogis and teachers to know when they can do something. 6. You are not allowed to leave the room at all. If you do, she shames you for it. Uhm, I'm asthmatic. The heat combined with the cat (OH YEAH THERE IS A HOUSE CAT IN THE LOBBY) induced my ASTHMA. Because I didn't want to elicit an angry reaction from her (like someone else did), I just lied there trying to calm my breath. In the end, I contacted Groupon and asked for a refund. The bad experience could be chalked up to that crap teacher, but YOU NEED TO INFORM PEOPLE YOU HOUSE AN ANIMAL THAT IS A KNOWN ALLERGEN TO A GIANT POPULATION. Good day. read more

I'm a big hot yoga fan, and when I saw the groupon for this place I jumped on it and tried it out. I really enjoyed it the first few times, the instructors were great, and I got a way better workout than I did at places like SunStone Yoga. It was awesome. The room does smell, but you either get over it or don't, it didn't bother me much. My biggest problem with this place was the owner. I was on maybe my third or fourth lesson there and people were getting fatigued and walking out. Normal yoga etiquette is that you are not supposed to do this, and I understand that, but the owner handled this very badly. She waited until the first timers were out of the room and yelled at us all like children. She sped through the rest of the class and no one seemed to get a workout like normal because of this. I understand the frustration, but she could have said something the first time anyone got up to nip it right away or told everyone before class started her expectations. The way she acted was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. I wouldn't give her my money to the place simply because of the owner's attitude towards the clients. read more

I don't usually write reviews on here but this place is so great I'll make an exception! :) I've been going fairly consistently for about four months now and I love it here. It's very different from other yoga I've done but that's one of the reasons I like it. It's the same postures every single class so you're really able to work on each one, and then you can see how you improve as time progresses! All of the instructors are great. I like some more than others (just based on personal preference) but overall they all know what they're doing and are always helpful, both during the class and after if you have questions. Yes, the room smells a little, but what do you expect when there's about 40 people in there sweating it out 6 times a day?? Otherwise it's very clean and even the cats don't bother me (and I have a slight cat allergy). They're not actually in the studio, just the lobby, in case you're wondering. Anyway, I encourage you to give it a try. I've seen all ages, shapes, sizes, body types, races, and all walks of life come to the classes so don't be intimidated! I really like the classes here..but I love Bikram. The studio not too hot... but just hot enough. Most of the teachers are very good...some are really great. The studio needs a makeover however. It needs a good scrubbing and the paint colors, curtains, etc. are really outdated and make it feel really blah. Other than that, I like it alot!!! read more

They are so rude there that makes you think what is Yoga about. If they really understood Yoga they would not be so rude and bulling students and clients that are there to learn and to take the benefit of yoga, not to be treated with the utmost disrespect and be ok with that. read more

The smell, just awful. The lack of cleanliness in the studio is disgusting, where is the health department! Yikes! Why the smell? Carpet!! Seriously, who would put carpet in a hot yoga room, it is a fabric floor covering in a 105' room full of sweaty people, bodily fluids, and bare feet on a daily basis. When entering my first class after being over powered by the smell, I notice the floor was literally wet from the sweat of the previous class, yuck. Instead of being able to focus on my breathing or form all I could thinks was...athlete's foot, mold, ringworm, oh my! I've been to many yoga places and have never encountered carpet and such disregard for the health and enjoyment of their students. read more
