I just got home from my first visit to Dr. Jou's office and I have never felt so compelled to write a review and post it ASAP. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Yesterday, I called Dr. Jou's office and, unlike the other three endocrinologist offices I called, his front office was extremely warm and welcoming over the phone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I felt it was a great start, but contained my enthusiasm for the time being because I have been disappointed down the road so many times before. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Fast forward to today's appointment and the front office staff was just as friendly and accommodating in person.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They respected the appointment time and got me back to a room not a minute later than scheduled. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The nurse who started off my visit couldn't have been kinder and she even checked in with me while Dr. Jou was finishing up with another patient.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When Dr. Jou entered the room, I immediately got great vibes from him and noticed his way of letting the patient talk and truly listening to what is being said.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]He allowed me to fully express how I was feeling, symptoms I've noticed, and never cut me off.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He also entered everything I was telling him directly into his tablet. He was thorough in explaining my test results, options for treatment, and timelines. He did not rush anything and had back up plans for every scenario that were clearly well thought out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I honestly don't think I can say that I've ever visited a doctor who I walked out of their office without the regret of not having been given the opportunity to say something about my situation until now.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Even on the 45 minute drive back home from his office, I couldn't think of anything that he didn't cover or allow me the time and opportunity to explain or ask.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] To add a shred of credibility to my words, I would like to say that my father is a (recently retired) cardiologist who had his own practice in North Hollywood. I spent countless hours with him there from the age of 5 years old through my late teens. Therefore, I know a bit about how difficult it can be to ensure your front office staff, the doctor, and the rest of the overall patient experience are all simultaneously performing at an optimal level. Somehow, Dr. Jou's office pulls off that seemingly impossible feat beautifully. In closing, health struggles can be very scary and stranger, friend, or family, I don't want anybody to ever have a poor experience with a medical office during such a vulnerable and stressful time in their life. Therefore, I sincerely hope that you strongly consider choosing Dr. Jou as your first option if you are in need of an endocrinologist. Wishing you the best of health and the best of life. read more

I have debated to write this review for a year now. I was a patient of Dr. Jou's for a few years, type 2 diabetic, and was put on an insulin pump as a type 2 diabetic to get ready for pregnancy. We couldn't get my numbers down after over a year of insulin. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I expressed that I felt the medication needed to be changed and my insulin pump number did not feel correct I was told the insulin isnt the problem, it was me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That day I decided to get a second opinion. Thankfully I did, my insulin pump setting was backwards and i was getting more insulin at night when I'm not eating then during the day!! Within 3 months my new doctor got my A1C down over 2 full points, I was cleared for fertility treatments and here I am pregnant in my 6th month waiting for our baby boy! We waited almost 2 years because he did not have me on the correct dosages. Received a referral from Dr. Ben Roberts and my daughter has been calling for a few days over the span of a week and continues to get their voicemail regardless if she presses 0 to speak with someone or 6 to schedule an appointment. She even left messages and has not even received a call back, strange and unprofessional. Will update my review if we can ever get a hold of anyone at this office or receive a call back as a courtesy. read more

I want to make sure that other patients who need medication for any health issues do not go to this doctor as they are too busy. Please refer to the message I received below and this is after I've had to follow up every day this week to ensure that I will be getting my medication for prediabetes as I will be needing more in 4 days. No patient should receive a message back with excuses and be told the doctor doesn't have time and is overworked!! So unprofessional! I can't say enough good things about PA Solomon, & NP Anna. I was recently diagnosed with Type 1 LADA, and they were very thorough in explaining everything, and the few appointments we've had never felt rushed, and I felt they listen well to my concerns. However the office staff is terrible. In one example it's my 2nd appointment, and I had to bring my daughters 10 & 8 and the tech blatantly in front of them have you tested them? Brand new to this at the time and my heart dropped questioning is this even a possibility (which is not because it's autoimmune, and it happens when it happens) and the nerve to say that I'm front of my kids who weren't even the patients? Bedside manner was terrible. More recently, within the last two weeks attempting to relay a message to the provider about a question I had for an upcoming surgery. Twice having to follow-up because I never received a phone call. Provider updated the notes, and three days after the fact was never relayed to me by the staff, then having to correct them twice regarding the notes on the surgery date, and another provider message that was never delivered. read more

DR JOU has been my endocrinologist for nearly 20 years. During that time he has help me bring my A1c levels down from 11 to 6.5 through the use of insulin pump and continuous glucose monitors. I like that Doctor Jou and his staff stay on top of my health issues. I've had specialist in the past who either forget about you after your first visit with them or they schedule a return visit one year after they see you for about five minutes. Not Doctor Jou. I came to see Dr. Jou for consultation for my thyroid and I also requested blood work. The front receptionist has been calling to follow up and giving my blood results. She kept calling and ask me to call back to make sure I had received the message. I really appreciate the time she spent following up with her calls. My previous ENT doctor's office, his name is Quoc Nguyen(don't go there) doesn't bother to provide blood results over the phone stating I had to come in so they can charge another office visit. read more

Dr. Jou is a true and kind professional. I highly recommend. I was a patient of his for 8 years. I was first having issues in winter of 2008. He called me during the Christmas Holiday to check on me and sincerely cared about how I was faring - this was when the office was closed. Dr. Bill Jou is the best endocrinologist. He cares about his patients and is very competent. There have been a couple of times in the past where he went out of his way to reach me for updates. He carefully monitors your progress and always listens. If there's some sort of award us patients could give this doctor I wish we could. These are they types of doctors who give us hope. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Jou for over 10 years and this review is way over due. There are many attributes that can be said about his character as a person and as a physician. Let me highlight 2 that would encompass all others. Integrity. His interigty is beyond reproach, his private practice as a physican, is essentially still a business, there are x expense and y revenue and there is only 1 Dr. Jou, until human cloning can be perfected there is a limitation on the number of patients to be seen in a day within a window of 8 to 9 hrs. Rather to endure the disparaging review than overbooked. like the one that was written complainting that he or she can not be seen by Dr. Jou until 2 months out. He chooses to do the right thing, by not overbooking like many physicians that are practicing today, where you still have to wait 1 hour even when you have an appointment. That is because they want to jam everyone in and spend about 5 minutes with their patients and move on. The temptation to resist that kind of practice is very hard because the physcians will make more money in overbooking. This is reality and that is integrity! Not to say that you have to be a business owner to truly appreciate this point. So here is the something that as a customer you can appreciate. Access. What is the most important thing when you are sick. Access to your Doctor. I am not the only one that said he returns your calls and emails and even when he is on vacation, he still responds to me. I challenge you to find a patient of his that said he never give you access to him or not thoroughly explaining all the side effects and treatments. Yelp is a love hate relationship for many business owners and customers . There are many people who easily spill disparaging reviews out of frustration and most of the time they don't look in the mirror to see how ridiculous they are...because these disparaging narratives are easy to write because they make them feel good and high and mighty. Then there are businesses that deserve to be critical of and be forewarned. There are a lot of noises in this type of format such as YELP. If there is a comment thread that attached to reviews where people can chime in they would say ... hey if you can't get an appointment for 2 months ... no need to bad mouth that business go somewhere else..... hey if you are not happy with my service why come back multiple... My review will not make or break Dr. Jou, I have seen his practice grew over 10 yrs since his inception and it is well established. You can't win all the battles and you can not pleased everyone. That can be draining to everyone that has to service the public...so from time to time people who are doing thing right can take solace in reading things that you are doing right but often not mentioned or published. read more

Dr. Jou is an excellent doctor. I get the sense he actually cares about me as a patient and is not just giving me a quick fix answer. He's actually been able to help me find an alternative diagnosis for symptoms I have been experiencing for about 3 years which would explain why what I have been trying for treatment hasn't worked. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes most likely due to pancreatic cancer surgery several years ago. I was referred by my family physician to Dr Jou. I called this morning for an appointment and was told by his receptionist that I could not see him for two months. No options, no waiting list, nothing offered, just "that's it". What am I supposed to do for the next two months while I wait for treatment? Research Type 1 diabetes through the Internet and treat myself? I wonder if Dr. Jou, who people obviously like, knows how patients are being treated by his front desk. I was fortunate enough to find the diabetes clinic at UCSD where I also had my surgery done. The scheduler immediately understood the need for a prompt first visit and after I got my family physician to send a referral I got an appointment within a couple of days. Dr Jou is the best endocrinologist in the Temecula Valley. He really takes the time to explain everything to his patients. I have been seeing him for a little over a year now, and will continue to do so. I was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer in November of 2016, and had a total thyroidectomy the same month. I have had him as my doctor since right after my surgery, and he has been great. They always call me to let me know how my lab work turned out and let me know whether or not my Synthroid needs to be adjusted. They keep me informed which is more than I can say for the last endocrinologist I had. Thank you! Highly recommended!! read more

Dr. Jou is fantastic. I came to him after having discovered a nodule on my thyroid 6-8 months prior at which time I was told to rescan in 6-months. When a I saw Dr. Jou for the first time, rather than do a scan he sent me to a top specialist to have a fine needle biopsy. Turns out I had thyroid cancer which required surgery. His quick action led me down a path of treating my issue early before it became serious. I am very inquisitive and ask many questions during my appointments. He always takes his time to thoughtfully answer my questions. Typically when doctors run late, that is the reason. I can't fault him too much for that. He has a busy practice, and I have probably had to wait 10-15 minutes most times, only once did I have to wait about 30. His staff is helpful and they actually reach out to me when it is time for me to get bloodwork done or get new images. They are proactive and not sitting idly by. Many doctors offices don't ever follow up and to me that is part of being a good provider of care. I'm fortunate to be in Dr. Jou's care and I trust him with my ongoing medical issue. read more

I was referred to Dr. Jou after struggling to find an endocrinologist highly educated in treating Hashimotos Thyroiditis, a treatable but incurable autoimmune hypothyroid condition. Dr. Jou's staff was thorough in my intake and when he saw me he sat eye level and asked questions, discussed my family health history, allergies, etc. He is so intelligent and knowledgeable and provided me excellent treatment options. He explained my blood work more thoroughly than anyone in the 10 years since I was diagnosed. He offered medicine options side effects. Since one side effect is bone loss he also addressed my Osteoporosis with knowledge and new treatments. I am so hopeful and cannot wait for follow-up after trying a new hypothyroid medication and having bone density scan he ordered. I have been a patient of Dr. Jou for a few years. Since he left the practice on Winchester and Diaz I have been forced to deal with several extremely rude staff members. Today I reached my limit when I received a return call regarding a prescription refill request. I woman on the phone told me that my request hadn't been approved because I no showed an appointment. I informed her that I left a message cancelling my appointment. She then went on to challenge me and call me a liar. She asked "when did you call?" and I answered. She asked "did you receive the reminder call?" and I answered. Then she began lying telling me that I would have to pay a $50 no show fee because I called in September to cancel an appointment that I no showed in August. My appointment was Tuesday September 18th at 8:15 am for which I have a voicemail confirming left on Friday the 14th. I did not respond as I had already left a voicemail cancelling two days prior. A similar incident occurred in April of this year when on a business trip I received another rude call asking why I did not show up for my appointment. I told the woman that I had to go out of town on business and sent an email informing them in advance. She too quizzed me like I'm was some child lying about breaking the lamp. At the end of an extended phone call she finally found my email, did not offer any kind of an apology and told me that I sent it to an email address that they rarely use. I don't feel it is a patient's responsibility to keep track of what email account they are using and when. I do feel that an apology was the least she could have offered. I am asking my general practitioner to refer me to a different endocrinologist. read more

Dr Bill Jou is my endocrinologist starting during the Covid restrictions. My first visit was via zoom. He noticed the nodule on my right thyroid via zoom. Of course I question that :-) scheduled me for an autosound and there it was 3 cm nodule. Which explains the weight gain. Biopsy was negative. I was told from my family doctor to wait an year before starting medication. During that year I could feel this nodule getting bigger. I scheduled an appt to see DR Jou but when I got there the girl said my appointment was next week. I almost started crying because I needed answers and I could not wait another day. I had gained over 60 pounds in this year. The receptionist went in and asked Dr Jou if he could see me earlier. He told her to schedule me for the next day. I was so relieved. My nodule was 5cm and growing. Schedule for the right thyroid removed next week. I know Dr Jou will get my thyroid issues balanced especially if he can see an nodule via zoom when I could not even feel it yet. read more

Dr. Jou is the best doctor I have ever seen. I am a type I diabetic for 24 years now and he is an amazing endocrinologist. Never have I had a dr so attentive and so concerned for his patients. I can email him daily with my blood sugars or concerns I have, and he either calls me or emails me back. I am pregnant with my second child and he has been a lifesaver through both my pregnancies. Never have I had a better doctor. Yes the wait in the office can be long but it's because when you are his patient he takes his time to fully examine you and go through every issue and concern you have. I am an RN myself and have had experiences with many doctors and Dr. Jou is outstanding. I would recommend him to anyone. read more

My mother of 83 years young was referred to Dr Jou and I can honestly say the ladies in the front office were caring and compassionate and friendly. Once we got into room, we didn't wait more than 10 minutes and Dr Jou came in. We were very impressed with him introducing himself and sitting down with us and throughly discussing my mothers issues. I felt that he personally cared about my moms well being and explained everything to us about her medical condition. I cannot express enough how thankful we are for his excellent bedside manner and talking to us where we understood what was going on.
