I stopped by the service department for a minor problem, but I had to wait for Russ, the service manager to finish a call with a woman trying to schedule a repair appointment. It was on speakerphone when I arrived and I have never heard anything like it....she demanded an appt....he offered her one...she demanded an earlier one. He asked her to bring her unit in and leave it so that he could try to work her in sooner. ( she lived 45 minutes away). She ranted about her husband's knee replacement and when Russ admitted that he hadn't had one personally, she wished that such would be his fate....great I thought...he will tell her off and I can get my turn! But NO...this went on for over 20 minutes with her being mean and vindictive and he being a perfect gentleman. I have never seen or heard anything like it! I would have climbed through the phone and....never mind. Just wanted to say what a wonderful guy Russ is. Oh yeah...and he fixed my little problem on the spot. read more

Dishonest. Incompetent. They charged me $1255.47 for at most 4 hours work. I'm not exactly sure how they reached that total, but of the total, $46 was for five minutes of work done right in front of me. No parts were involved. Worse, they neglected to purge the Alde heating system of air, causing a fail within 2 days of service. When I contacted Alde, they explained to me that the system has to be purged after servicing and all of the dealers know this. When I later talked to BlueCompassRV they said that they never purge Alde systems after servicing. Total amateurs. Expensive amateurs. Spent two nights in 40 degrees farenheit without heat due to Blue CompassRV's sloppiness and incompetence. read more

Sadly, there's no option for 0 stars or negative stars because that's what they deserve from us. Where do I even start...? After finding the 17 winnebago view 24g that we wanted, we went through the entire finance process through bill plemmons RV and found out they weren't even close to what boatloans.com (ask for Hal) could do for us. Bill wanted $16k down and 4.75% interest (10 yr loan) on the $78k RV with a 770 fico score. Hal at Boatloan.com got us 4.49% with only $7500 down. SHOP AROUND FOR FINANCING! PLEMMONS WILL NOT BE THE LOWEST. So, all but the down payment is wired to plemmons and they ask us when we'd like to come pick up our RV. We say either saturday or sunday and quickly find out they don't do weekend RV pickups because certain people don't work weekends. I ask "what about people who work for a living? How can they pick up their RV?" Our terrible salesman Ken Kaplan tells me that "people just take a day off from work to come. We sell 500 RVs a year and this is how we do it." And these guys supposedly pride themselves on great customer service?! We both take a day off from work and drive 5.5 hours north to pick up our RV at the scheduled time of 11:15am. The RV is supposed to be thoroughly checked out, filled with LP and diesel fuel, detailed etc etc etc and just ready to hop in and drive!? We get there and they try to make us take a 30 minute "tour of the parts store" I assume so they can sell us a bunch of over priced things that we can get on Amazon for probably 30-50% less. We said no thank you and told them we're trying to make this process go as quickly as possible because we were meeting family members who were driving up from NYC. Our horrible salesman Ken never bothered to come meet us. Instead we were passed off to a guy named John. John came out and said... "I have some bad news. The dinette slide won't go in but we're fixing it ASAP". He takes us out to the shop to see "our" rv for the first time. He gives us the "walk around" while the worker hammers and drills and bangs away at the slide. He's trying to show us how the toilet flushes but it won't flush because it says the black tank is full. We look at the tank levels gauge in the closet but it says the black tank is empty. So, either the black tank gauge isn't working or the toilet isn't working right. The Grey water says 1/2 full and the LP says 1/2 full. The floor isn't even swept. There's a brown stain on the carpet beside the bed, the porch light is only partially working (salesman said they didn't have one in stock and we could buy a new one ourselves LOL), they couldn't get the stovetop or water heater to light (gas was off) etc etc etc. John empties the grey & black tanks and the toilet flushes and of course the black tank gauge still reads empty because now we know it doesn't work It's pretty obvious they did almost nothing to prepare the RV for us although they say they check all systems. I say "ALMOST NOTHING" because I did notice that they sprayed a bunch of tire shine on the tires. I guess that's what they consider their "detail job"? Sad day for customer service. We make a list of everything not working or broken and go wait outside. We waited from 11:15am to 4pm and they still couldn't get the slide to go in! The salesman told me they put a new motor and a new board in it but it still didn't work. The last thing they said it could be was the wiring harness which would take 2 days to arrive. So, they then robbed a harness from another RV and put it in. That didn't work either. Later the service manager let it slip that they robbed ALL of the parts from another used RV on the lot. Nothing was actually new. Our ordeal had taken so long that by this time, our family who was driving from NYC to meet us in S.C. had arrived at the RV dealership. So, there's 3 young kids and 4 adults waiting for these guys to get our RV ready... and it should have been ready BEFORE WE EVEN ARRIVED at 11:15 am! To say we were upset would be an understatement. The thought of driving 5.5 hours back home without our "new" RV was really disheartening. Especially, since the manager absolutely refused to have the RV delivered to us once they finally repaired it. He didn't even offer us any compensation for our troubles that day. He did say if we came back to pick up the RV after they'd repaired it, he'd give us "some store credit". LOL! Store credit?! We just wasted 2 days off from work (had to put in for sick/personal time), drove 11 hours round trip, sat in your parking lot for 5 hours and you think "some store credit" is a realistic way to repay us for the nightmare you put us through? We finally just left. Now, they have almost all the money ($76,241) for the RV AND our RV! We have nothing but a huge headache, tired arses from the long drive and the need to decide what to do next. This is a small time dealer that you really should avoid if you want to be treated well, good service, a quality RV and fair prices. read more

I was told that I would have to take it in once a year for inspection to keep it enforced. The new company has decided that they are going to charge me $85 a year for the inspection. This means my free lifetime warranty is now $85 a year. Please be aware that Bill Plemmons RV World is not family owned anymore and the new company does not honor any past practices. I highly recommend you no longer do business with this company. No signage has been changed other than $160 an hour labor and $10 a day storage if you don't pick your RV up upon completion of work. My daughter Kara purchased a pull behind camper in 2020. They never could get the sensors to read properly in the sewer tanks. And the hot water tank never ignited,we had to use the electric only. I recently found that problem,there was a piece of rubber in the gas line. If you're looking for a camper,I advise you to look somewhere else for your purchase. read more

I stopped in to buy some something at Bill Plemmons in Rural Hall. While they posted signs that customers should wear masks and social distance, Not a single staff member was wearing a mask. I saw a rep talking with two masked customers and he did not have a mask on and was only 2' from them. They are not following the state mandate and are putting their fellow coworkers and customers at risk. I tried to give feedback to a manager but the receptionist acted like no one was available. She said she was only supposed To put one on if she stood up to help a customer. Customers should not have to ask workers to follow the law. Outrageous given that the CDC is saying the biggest risk is people in enclosed spaces without masks and social distancing. read more

It is not bill plemmons anymore but now Blue Compass and they really did me wrong on recent work, I am 69 years old and first time I have been robbed with out even using a gun, poor workmanship and had to redo a lot of it myself, still going to cost me around 2,000.00 to get black water tank fixed , they replaced a 40 gallon tank with a 12 and on top of that plumbed the bathroom sink into it, just me and my wife used it in pigeon forge afterwards and had to dump it every day,paid them over 9,000.00 for about half of the original work quoted, still debating legal action, plus it stayed there and outside for a total of almost 3 months,a family of mice built a home in it,made a mess every where they whole family got stuck to a glue Board and rotted,water got in the motor of a New electric tarp, I had installed before taking it down there for 2,500.00 ,had to replace the electric motor and switch on it. Got up and drove two hours from Raleigh to Rural Hall. was informed that service would not happen. They did not have parts and a new employee had given me misinformation. **LONG REVIEW, BUT IMPORTANT** I truly am a very understanding person and rarely leave reviews for bad experiences but I felt this needed to be shared to warn others. I gave them a lot of chances. If I could give negative stars, I would. This place is awful. To start, we inquired on a 2020 Keystone Hideout on 4/18/22. A sales rep got back to us in a timely manner to let us know it was available. We then had our trade valued. We had applied for pre-approval financing with our local CU (we are 5 hours from Winston-Salem on the west side of Knoxville, TN). I had already told the sales rep this. He called me back the later and said "your application has been approved! You guys have excellent credit scores!" I was confused because we had not applied for financing through them at all. He then proceeded to schedule a demo date for us on 4/21/22 at 12:30pm. I got off the phone, thought a second, called him back almost immediately, and asked him how we could be approved because we hadn't even applied through them? He said "ummm, yeah, you're loan is not approved yet so I don't know what you are talking about. Who called you?" I said "you...". He then said "oh sorry, I thought I was talking to a different customer!" That is concerning because what if he had given out sensitive information? I thought oh well, just a little mix up. I assumed the demo was still on, and the next day (Tuesday) we received approval from our CU. I called our sales rep immediately and he said "Who scheduled a demo for you? Was it me?" I, again, said "yes...." He said "oh, I'm not at work right now but I'll have to check that tomorrow (Wednesday)". We were supposed to have the demo Thursday. I called the sales manager to ask on this because we needed to know as we were 10+ hours round trip and had already asked off work. The sales manager confirmed we didn't have a demo date scheduled and that there was no way he could have it ready by then. I asked to be transferred to another salesman because it was getting ridiculous in an already stressful situation with a large purchase. He transferred me to a new sales rep, who was great. He asked me what I knew about the rig and I told him nothing other than the last rep said it was in good, used condition. He then told me it actually has some "minor cosmetic issues". He sent me pictures of the "minor cosmetic damage". I immediately new it was water damage and appeared to have came from the slideout seal. He confirmed this was the case with his shop, but that it "had been fixed". At this point, I am absolutely furious because of all that happened just to find out that the original sales rep neglected to inform us of WATER DAMAGE. We would have never even bothered with this company and had our credit pulled, then struck a deal if we had known this. I voiced my frustration and was only given "We understand. We are sorry, but there is nothing else here in your price range". They wouldn't even work with me on negotiating a price on another rig after all that had happened. read more

I drove 2.5 hrs to go to this location as they claimed to be a Thor dealership - they parked my Thor Tellaro 2 weeks before even getting time to look at it - even though I made an appointment 2 weeks prior to bringing it in - I provided a punch list of items for them to repair under warranty - many of which I could have done myself had I know they were not under warranty - like glueing a piece of wallpaper coming up on the corners of the fuse panel. I received a bill for $1394 from Bill Plemmons and told none of the items were covered under warranty - no prior call or notification of this cost. One think I asked was to fill the LP take and I also asked to check to make sure the water heater was working properly - they charged $130 to check the truma heather which they did prior to putting LP in - the fix - the LP gas was empty - fills and now truma works - There was not more than 30 minutes of work done on the unit. One of the items I was charged $48 dollars for - was not even repaired. They charged over $100 because the power cable was wrapped around the power outlet preventing it to rise. NEVER again this place is a rip off and I believe they took advantage of me - a single woman. read more

They are delivering it to coast for us but we went for the walk through on how to use everything, they made it easy enough for first timers haha. Went to the RV Show in Raleigh Aug 25 and after spending about 5 hours looking at RVs decided to stop by Plemmons accessories and bought a few items among them a portable ice maker and paid about 162.50 taxes included. at the end of the day we picked up the box (it was open but we trusted the item was in good condition), we got home and lo and behold lid was out of place and would not reattach back. Drove to the fairgrounds again and by luck we hadn't wash our writs with the stamp so we went back in without having to pay again. Salesman said, no problem we will give you another. Box was open too but again we trusted him and drove home. guess what, this one had a big hole on the front of the machine and could see the insulation so we had to drive back again and they didn't have more with them but salesman said he would ship the one they had in stock to our home and he said he would open the box himself before shipping and we accepted the offer. That night I thought to myself how can you go to a show and take two defective units, or is it that you are trying to get rid off the lemons, but for full price? so on Saturday we went back and told the salesman that we were going to drive to Winston Salem to pick up the ice maker. We also got a quote for installation of tow bar to a CRV with a competitive price of 3200 out the door. On Monday we stopped at the Raleigh store and they had no ice makers in stock and about the quote for the tow bar they said it didn't include labor, with labor jumped to 4700 We drove the same day to Winston Salem and they could not find the "one" in stock but they offered us the one they were using in the office, same price and they had been using it for a year without any problems. We declined. When we asked for a refund after producing the receipt they reluctantly made the transaction, faces and body signals were not very friendly, what put them in that mood? I don't know but we are not going to have the tow bar installed there even if the price were to drop to 2200 out the door. How can I talk about integrity with an experience like that, ok they said that in a previous show the vehicle transporting the ice makers had a collision, ok but that was a previous show, you just don't take your defective units or it will come back to you so maybe it is lack of experience. Ken Kaplin worked with us as we were trying to decided which RV to purchase; we kept going back and forth. Finally settling on one and then the next day changed our minds, I know they thought we were nuts. Selecting the first one and finally making the financial arrangements. We had to wait for an extra week to take possession of the RV (because were we not available). John walk me through, through the process, answering every question I asked. He was very kind, (my husband was not able to attend, so I had more questions that a man usually does). The only problem was the heat, it had to be over 90 degrees that day, John he put me in the RV next to mine so I could cool off as we finished the paperwork, our RV was being fixed, the thermostat had to be ordered and installed prior to me picking the RV up. At the parts department I first started with Barry Scoot, he showed me all the items I needed to start with. I did check with Amazon to see if the price was good and Scott told me that they will match any price as long as the items are the same. Very nice to know when purchasing anything. Finally, Jayson Plymale the parts person put together all my items I purchased and give me reviews of the cook top; I looked it up online and it was the same, nice to see they were honest with their referral I purchased one). Jayson convinced me to purchase two rocking folding chairs, he carried all the items and put them into my truck across the lot. Great customer service. The worst customer service I have ever experienced and their so call "lifetime warranty " is useless it's been less then 2 years and we have several issues with the camper and they are not honoring the warranty. My husband and I have been through a tremendous stress this past few months. I have always wanted a travel trailer. My husband decided he was going to get me a "new life present", the trailer. We had been investigating Grand Design Imagine 2600RB trailers, and came across an add for a particular trailer. I contacted the company and interacted with a salesman named Ryan Moon. He indicated there was a trade in that had just come in that we may be interested in. It was the exact model we wanted. There were many communications between myself, my husband, Ryan and another salesman. We asked for photo's of the unit. We requested for them to include photo's of the roof, and underbelly of the trailer. We received multiple pictures of the interior and exterior, with not one photo of the roof or underbelly. My husband indicated to Ryan that we would be traveling from Massachusetts to North Carolina, and requested full transparency regarding the sale of this unit. Ryan indicated " the unit was flawless" We were sent multiple documents regarding this unit with two different years of make, one being 2018, and the other 2019. We had requested to verify the year of the model. The final text to my husband regarding the vehicle was the VIN number and the year indicating it was 2019. The only reason we were sent that text was so we could drive it off the lot insured. We put our faith in the salesmen at Bill Plemmons and were wrong to do so. I was very nervous about the trip down to purchase this unit, due to having a new Ileostomy bag and the obstacles it can incur. We decided it would be ok because, on the trip home, we would have a trailer unit so we could stop and have the ability for me to empty my bag without the stress of having to find rest stops, and potentially expose myself to COVID. Due to my condition, my immune system is depleted. We decided to make the trip despite the challenges we knew we were going to face on the trip down to Rural Hall. My husband took time off of work to make the trip. We left at 12AM on Thursday night to arrive at our appointment on Friday at 3pm. We drove straight through with no sleep on the way there. We wanted to minimize days off of work. We were making a large purchase after all. Upon arrival staff at Bill Plemmons were very lax regarding mask use, and social distancing,making me uncomfortable. I remained masked, and put more then six feet between myself and every staff member. They continued this lack of compliance even after indicating the gentleman that was to tour our trailer with us had gone home ill. We were shuttled off into a show room for equipment, where Chad, the gentleman who was replacing the ill man that had gone home, would meet us. While we were in the show room, the salesman requested my husbands keys to hook the trailer up to his truck, prior to us getting the tour. We complied trusting we were in good hands. We were brought out to the trailer, which was hooked on to my husbands truck. We were given the full tour of the trailer with the major points skimmed over, IE: the roof and the underbelly. On the outside of the trailer where the VIN was located I took a video, it indicated it was a 2018 unit. We had insured a 2019 unit from what the text sent to us indicated. It was questioned. We were shuffled into the trailer and given some paperwork to initial indicating certain points had been gone over, and another document that we needed to sign that Bill Plemmons did not owe us anything because the trailer was in perfect condition. My husband wanted a look at the roof before we signed anything. When up on the roof, my husband noted a scratch down the length of the trailer, and a make shift patch with dirt around the edges, and it was peeling up. My husband asked what it was, and why it was not shown to us or spoken about prior to us making the trip. He went inside the trailer and noted where the patch was the wall paper was starting to bubble. He wouldn't have known to look there if he had not noticed the patch on the roof. We are first time trailer purchasers, but we know, if the integrity of the roof is compromised, there unit is junk. We were again lied to by the salesman Ryan indicating, he had no idea of the patch, then indicating the patch was professionally installed, and he was sorry, and although in previous correspondence prior to our arrival, indicated he had been up on the roof, and checked under the body of the trailer, and noticed nothing. At the time of purchase and pick up denied , he had ever seen the roof. Instead indicating the technicians were and it was not reported to him. The patch was not professionally installed, and we were lied to multiple times about the year of the trailer, as well as the integrity of the trailer. It was clear that their "team" was all aware of the issues. My husband unhitched the trailer, and we left without the unit. read more

I drive from the Concord, NC area. There are other RV places closer but I wouldn't trust anyone else to work on my RV. I called the day I was having an airbag replaced due to a recall. I called the morning I was going to be in Greensboro to see if I could get in for a recall on the Winnebago. Russ Carroll, service administrator, was so nice! I couldn't even tell him a time because I didn't know how long it would take at the Mercedes dealership. He told me to bring it in and he would work it in. Bought our TT here a couple years back. That was a decent experience with no real red flags. Then we made an appointment for the "free annual inspection " required by the lifetime warranty. Also needed a couple warranty items looked at (frig not cooling right, basement door not seated right, minor stiff). Dropped off on appointment day and did not hear back. Called 2 weeks later and they had not even looked at it yet! Total time was between 6-7 weeks. They now have a form they hand to customers saying that appointment means nothing more than drop-off and everything will take weeks. So, this year did the annual inspection only and they did it while I waited. BTW, the only thing they look at is the roof. If you want anything else looked at it's $$. Recently had a small recall for my rig and they did it while I waited but I noticed that 1) Service advisor Russ is now the Service Manager and 2) they have 2 new service advisors Emily and Robin who both know the business. What I am hoping is that things will improve in service with the staffing changes up front. I like working with them but we'll see how it goes moving forward. read more

We brought our RV in for some minor warranty repairs and the annual inspection. Rick was very professional and friendly for the drop-off. The next morning (the day of our appointment) he called me to discuss the issues we needed fixed; I was amazed that they had already gotten the RV into the shop and looked into everything. We are full-timers and were staying with family for the holidays so they allowed us to leave it there until we were ready to get back on the road. I called to ask if it could be ready a few days earlier than planned so they could de-winterize it before we got there. They did everything perfectly and it was ready for us when we arrived to pick it up. Russ was there when we picked it up and was just as nice and professional as Rick. We also really like Darius the service technician who performed our walk-through when we purchased the RV. Our previous RV was purchased at a dealer in Florida that had horrible service after the sale. When it came time to purchase a new one I specifically looked for one that had good service reviews. That's how we ended up purchasing from Bill Plemmons, and now after our first experience with the service department, I can say the good reviews were correct and I'm glad we purchased from them. When you purchase an RV from Bill Plemmons RV Josh Crow the salesman was very nice of course; however, the service personnel are beyond rude and completely incompetent in my experience. I purchased a Grand Design Imagine 2800BH camper from them. I took my RV in for the annual inspection for the lifetime warranty and several warranty repairs and none of the repairs were repaired correctly. Some of the work they performed resulted in potential fire hazards so we are left with a camper that is not safe to use. When I tried to have my RV back in for repairs, they said they had a waitlist for months and that I should drop off the RV to sit around for months so I could not use it. Therefore, every year for the annual inspection I was expected to drop off my camper at their facility and leave it there for months until they got around to looking at it. I finally got them to agree to let me drop it off closer to a time when they could do the repairs; however, when I tried to inquire about the progress of the repairs, there was never any until they flat out refused to do any repairs and told me to remove my camper rom their lot. Their service manager Rick McHone called me a butthole and the owner Shawna Plemmons stood by her disrespectful employee. They refused to honor my lifetime warranty on the camper or the repairs. There are so many people who have had the same terrible experience that I am amazed that this company is still in business. Steer clear of this company! When we contacted Grand Design to advise them of how poorly this dealer is representing their brand, they did nothing to help. read more

To distil the recent events to just the facts: 1. Bill Plemmons RV mechanics worked on our RV engine. This work required modification and/or adjustment to the belts and pulleys; 2. Shortly afterwards, The radiator cap starting leaking because it was incorrectly fitted and the air conditioning belt snapped and the power steering belt became loose; we got the RV back to Winson-Salem very slowly. 3. Bill Plemmons RV mechanics then replaced the belts and adjusted the pulleys; 4. Shortly afterwards, the air conditioning belt snapped and the power steering belt became loose (this time making the RV inoperable and we had to call out a mobile mechanic in TN); 5. Others replaced the belts and adjusted the pulleys and the RV is now working fine. The opinion of those who did the work correctly was that the belts were incorrectly fitted and the pulleys not tightened properly When approached about this the manger of Bill Plemmons claimed it wasnt their fault despite the mechanic who worked on it admitting full liability. So we lost 3 days of our holiday and paid for repairs that didnt work. They are the only RV dealer within Winston-Salem city limits and they know it. We have taken our RV to them 3 times in 3 years and each time they would give us a price estimate and each time the actual bill woudl be 15%-50% higher than the estimate. We would recommend finding somewhere else to get your RV serviced. read more

Bought our camper from Bill Plemmons Rv in 2016 we are very pleased with our purchase. The manager Brady also helped us with learning about all we needed as far as accessories, chemicals ect that we needed to keep our RV well maintained. We are retired and we use our RV 7 months out if the year. We take our camper to them to be serviced and have been very pleased with the knowledgeable service technicians there. I would give 5 stars to this company but I am giving 3 . Every time I go in to the store/parts area the store is messy and the inventory is old with dust all over the merchandise. No one is available in the store or we are treated by the employees rudely if we ask a question. Case in point several months ago we came in to order accessories. We stood at the counter ( looks more like a wall to keep customers out and very messy) after 5 minutes a tall man came out of the back smelling like cigarettes we asked him If he could help us order a new cover and we wanted to order new outdoor furniture. He looked bothered and said he will get someone then we heard him tell the other employee to go help those dumb a)&@ and we heard laughter. We left the store and went elsewhere. We were shocked because we had great treatment in all our other dealings with this company. read more

Already had a band new motorhome. Was looking for something a little larger and thought I'd test the water to see if it were possible to move up without taking too big a hit on the one I recently bought from another dealer. Craig was the salesperson I dealt with and I could not have asked for anyone with more professionalism and integrity. He did the best he could (and I really believe that), but in the end the hit was too big to be justifiable. We're going to kick the can down the road for a couple of years and then take another look. When I informed Craig about my decision, he could not have been nicer. He genuinely understood the basis of my decision and did not pressure me with a "make-me-an-offer" proposition. This I know: when I return to the motorhome market, Bill Plemmons RV World will be my first and probably my last stop. In the mean time, I'm having them do all my maintenance. read more

Bill Plemmons RV world is geared toward customers. We lived in Augusta, GA and picked our RV up in the middle of a PCS move to Tacoma, Washington. We worked with Travis Noah and he ordered our RV and got it in time before our move. He also added a clause that would allow us to opt out of our contract if it was not delivered in time since we were on orders to get to Washington by a certain date. When we got there Barry Scott gave us the ins and outs of RV accessories and made sure we had everything we needed to hit the road. He was super helpful and not pushy about sales. Steve the mechanic was so patient with us. This is our first RV and it's a pretty big rig so there was a lot to go over. Steve made sure we left with confidence and we could not thank him enough! Lastly Cameron helped us with finance and all the protective options available. I feel that I could call Cameron at any time and he would be willing to help with questions or concerns. We love our rig and we love the staff at Bill Plemmons. They really make you feel like family... even our dog :) after all they've been "having family fun since '51!" read more
