I was in Columbia for a family wedding and Billiards was on the list of recommended restaurants. In the description and recommendation, it said that the burgers here were a favorite of both groom and bride. Even the grooms father insisted on eating at Billiards whenever he was in town. With all those recommendations, I knew where I was dining my first night in town. I was just a short stroll down from my hotel, so it was easy to get there. Lucky for me, I arrived at the perfect time. Shortly after my arrival, the place filled up. I took a seat at the bar and after reading the menu, I made my choices. For my adult beverage, I chose, Hide Tide a craft beer from the local brewery, Logboat. I also went with the, Logboat Burger. It's a burger served on a pretzel bun, with bacon, jalapeno and a house made Snapper IPA beer cheese. I had them hold the tomato. Their fries are fresh cut from Idaho potatoes and they are hand cut according to the menu. Fresh fries are the best. My bartender/server was attentive and it was fun watching the cooks prepare all the burgers on a grill directly behind the bar. The bar is very casual, and it's exactly what Professor Hill was singing about in, Music Man. All burger lovers have to stop by Billiards and enjoy one of the best, if not the best burger in Columbia. read more

In town for a campus visit for my son and needed a place to catch a football game on TV. Got several recommendations for different bars/restaurants and decided to try Billiards on Broadway. The staff was amazing, the location and ambiance were great -- if we had more time I would've loved to place some pool. In terms of the food: The burgers were great! My son had the Billiards burger (a great burger for only $7.50!!) and I had the Cowboy burger. My son also loved the onion rings. The fries were a little on the soft and soggy side, but tasted good. We were there for a while, so we ended up ordering several other things. Wings: The BBQ sauce was good but the breading was too crispy, almost tasted/felt burnt. Garlic cheese curds: I wanted to say my review of these would be unfair because we live so close to Wisconsin and get really amazing cheese curds all the time. But these just weren't good no matter what. The breading was burnt/too crispy. Several of the "curds" had no cheese in them... they were just hollow breading. Overall verdict: great place to catch a game, great staff, great location in town... but next time we're sticking to the burgers and onion rings. read more

Solid burger, it was tasty but nothing to write home about. I had the logboat burger which I was really happy with as it was pretty unique I felt and it was cool to see them stay local and use Logboat for the beer cheese on it. The fact there are pool tables as the main attraction makes this place have a great leisurely / competitive atmosphere. We almost walked out to find a different establishment because the staff didn't tell us how to wait for a pool table. There was no waiting list, so to speak. Right when we were about to stand to leave, an employee came to you us to say a table was available (it had been empty the entire time we sat waiting but maybe the two parties ahead of us were nowhere to be found). The burgers at this joint are phenomenal, but they did service over cooked to possibly burnt french fries which I thought was bad. The french fry issue someone took away from the burgers and the rest of the dining experience. They have a lot of local beers on tap but they don't seem to have a lot of knowledge about the beers that they're serving. So, if you ask for something to taste like Guinness, you might be disappointed to find out they can't describe which one taste close to Guinness. If you're going to sell craft or micro brews you really need staff that tastes and can recommend beverages. read more

Came here tonight for some nostalgia, Chargers-Chiefs game, I'm from San Diego. My wife and I have been coming here for years. (She recently passed away.) I love their black bean burger and the friend that I frequent this place with always raves about Les' Favorite, which is a grilled chicken sandwich topped with bacon, aioli, ghost pepper cheese, lettuce, and tomato. The service can be a bit inconsistent, but it's generally pretty decent and their food is fantastic. The restaurant's vibe is super casual and relaxing, making it the perfect evening hang-out spot. Billiards is one of the best places to hangout in Columbia. By far my favorite place for burgers, beer, and camaraderie. When I first saw the exterior of the restaurant, I was skeptical and stayed away from it, but a colleague convinced me to go for lunch and I was not disappointed. My first time there I got the Love Story and the Awesome Size Fries and I loved it. The next time I got The Roomie which is a spicy burger and spicy is right up my alley. Now I get The Roomie with the ghost pepper cheese and it makes the burger even more spicy. It truly is the best burger in Columbia. The beer selection is all Missouri beer on tap, but they have your typical American beers in bottles and cans. Logboat beer is featured here a lot as well as Broadway Brewery, 4Hands, Mothers and Boulevard, but if it's a Missouri brewery, then it will probably be on tap at some point. I love to come here and hang out with friends. If people are visiting Columbia, I always bring them here. The atmosphere is perfect for talking and having a good time and the servers and bartenders are always great people to talk with and have a nice laugh. The restaurant/bar keeps to its namesake and has several billiards tables to play on. Very simple process and relatively cheap to hang out at the tables for a few hours and eat and drink beer. Of course the bartenders make other drinks, but beer, for me, is the highlight. Also, there are multiple TVs around the joint and there's always a game on. I watched the Cubs win the World Series there this past fall. Lunch and dinner time is always busy, so don't be surprised if the service is a bit slow. I prefer to go anywhere from 2-5 on the weekdays. Anyway, if you're in Columbia and don't know where to go, just pop into Billiards and enjoy yourself. More than likely I will be there too. Just visiting Columbia for the unity concert and my bf and hiS friends talked non stop about this place having the best burgers. So in my opinion they weren't all that amazing. They were good! But i was a little let down with how much I've heArd about this place. I think one of the biggest turn offs was the over cooked burger. It was very hard and charred on the outside (which supposedly isn't common so I guess I just got the bad batch) but the sauce on it was good, the ghost pepper cheese was good, and the fries are really good too! So overall it was a pretty good 4 star worthy meal. But it definitely wasnt the best burger ive had by far. Would I go again? Probably next time I visit. Would I say it's the best? Nope. The waitress was really cool though. Not sure what happened to something that used to be awesome. I have been coming to billiards since it opened for good cheeseburgers and great home it frys. Unfortunately it has been going down hill for a while. Ownership hasn't changed Molly was even in there today but the quality just isn't there. I am sure they do great with their billiards leagues but this used to be a great lunch joint too. The issue is the burgers. What used to be a good juicy smash burger that was tender and meaty has become a crispy dry puck. When I say crispy think of burned tortilla chips. The only thing that is juicy are the pickles. I watched the grill work too and the pattys start off as a mix of fresh and what can only be called pale grey meat. This has been going on for at least a couple of years. I know COVID has made supplies hard but they are not even trying. Even the French fries are so heavily covered in salt that is the only thing you can taste. I can't get work colleagues or friends to come here anymore. It just feels as though what has worked is all they are going to try and do anymore. Sad to see a great place fall. One of my go-to spots to hang out in Columbia. They have pool, shuffle board, good beers on tap, and some pretty awesome burgers. They also usually have a game on and have a back patio if you need to step out for some fresh air. You can typically get a pool table walking in mid-week, and maybe a little wait on the weekends. The only thing I would recommend is having a few drink specials. This would definitely draw more people in. read more

My friend naturally has a lisp and was cut off for "acting sloppy" he was shocked and asked a different server to serve him a drink. They did. Then when we decided to leave the manager/waiter said it would be an additional 15 minutes and asked "what are you guys in a rush for?" Then when we were leaving he got an attitude. The burgers here really do live up to the hype in my experience, and you can get one for less than $5 dollars for a "small" burger. By the way, their small burger is the size of a regular burger, so don't be fooled by the name. The burger comes with all the typical fixins, including your choice of cheese. I got mine with their ghost pepper cheese. Let me tell you, if you like a little bit of heat in your food, the ghost pepper cheese is worth a try. I really enjoyed it. The fries were good, a little on the greasy side, but clearly homemade and fresh. We split a basket of fries between two of us, and it was plenty. They have a solid beer list, and all their beers on tap are from Missouri which I appreciate. The place itself is MUCH bigger than it looks from the outside. Tons of pool tables and TVs, plus plenty of actual seating. There is a patio out back that isn't too big, but has a few tables and TVs. We sat at the bar, which worked out well for watching the hockey game. Overall, it was a good atmosphere, good food and all for a decent price. We will be back. read more
