I had an appointment for My Son at 9:45am, I walked into Bills Diner at 9:31. Ordered at Around 9:34am. I was Greated with a Smile, and a Friendly Attitude. Everyone seemed to Enjoy the environment, it was very Clean and Inviting. The Lady at the front counter who took my order was Very Cordial. I sat down to wait, after placing my order and Literally 3 MINUTES LATER, My Food was Done, Hot and Ready!! I exited the Building with a Smile on my Face at 9:38am. The price is too high! My wife and I ordered turkey dinners. Each dinner comes with 1side. Potatoes don't come with the dinner so we ordered mashed potatoes as a side. No salad no stuffing just sliced turkey and potatoes smothered in gravy. Should not be called a dinner. read more

Went there for lunch. My burger was good but they skimped on the fries. The portion was half the size of most typical portions. I will not go back because the diner needs a major facelift. Dirty carpets, wires hanging from the TV on the walls, the bathroom had a torn out urinal with an open pipe and missing wall boards. My husband and I just found this diner recently in Norwich. We will be going here from now on. Twice we have gone there for breakfast and was not disappointed. The portions are generous and the food is cooked to perfection. I am very critical of how my bacon and scrambled eggs are cooked. Both times they passed the test. We liked the atmosphere, in fact, I remarked both times to my husband how much I liked it. It is a roomy restaurant so even if it is crowded, you have room to move and talk without shouting. The hostess has come immediately to seat us. The waitresses are friendly and attentive. Refilling our coffee cups as soon as they get down. Very affordable for a good breakfast. We have not had a lunch or dinner there yet, but I looked at the menu, and they had a good variety of food. I am looking forward to our next meal out at Bill's Diner. read more

I gave Bills another chance because I live in Norwich and I'm desperate to go out for food without driving an hour. Why are scrambled eggs and pancakes so darn hard to make at this place? My scrambled eggs had tons of black specs in it. I said something to the waitress and she told me it was pepper. Let me tell you, it was not pepper! I know what pepper looks like! This clearly was debris from their dirty grill and all the crud on the grill was scrambled in my eggs. My pancakes had the same thing. Black specs scattered through out my pancakes, and it looked like one pancake got stuck on the grill. It was all torn up, and pale like it was undercooked. Wonder if they add pepper to their pancakes too? When it came time to ask for the check, it was obvious I didn't eat my food. I was disgusted! No discount was offered. Biscuits with sausage gravy were the tastiest ever. Homemade chunky biscuits. Perfectly seasoned white gravy. Blueberry pancakes were studded with fresh berries. I'd say this place has a little better quality of food than your average diner. I noticed the average for reviews was three stars but I really think it's more of a three and a half to four star place. Other reviewers have complained about slow service and to a certain extent that was true but it wasn't because the wait staff wasn't hustling. They were running at full speed the whole time we were there! I think they could use a little extra help and let these girls slow down just a bit. Went there with family, thought it would be good because it's always busy. Wrong! Burger was a frozen patty ended up throwing it up. Mashed potatoes were dry and no flavor. Fish was nice and juicy but had no flavor and green beans had to be out of a can. Also had a roast beef hot sandwich which was bland and need a ton of salt. To start with, booth vinyl was taped together and floor had a dirty napkin under the table. On the plus side, waitress gave us menus quickly and took our order. That's where it ends. After waiting over 20 minutes, I caught the waitress' eye and asked where our food was. She went to kitchen door, looked in, and said "it's coming." Meanwhile, 2-3 other tables were seated, ordered, and received their food. After a couple more "it's coming" from the waitress, she came over to our table and said she was sorry, but our "order never got put in" and it's "all her fault." We heard that a couple of more times and were to the point of getting up to leave when my order arrived. And my spouse sat there looking at my plate. How hard is it to make two wraps and how long should it take? And shouldn't they be served at the same time? At this point, we had been seated for about 45 minutes. Finally his side salad got put in front of him with another "I'm sorry, it's all my fault and it's being made now." Another 10 min or so, he finally got his wrap. He ordered a chicken/bacon/ranch wrap which was good except for the fact the ranch dressing was on the side and not in the wrap. Needless to say, unwrapping the wrap to put the dressing on made quite a mess. We were there almost 2 hours and could have been almost home (2 1/2 hrs away) had we not had such poor service. Was treated to dinner for Mother's Day by my husband. We decided to try this diner as it is close to our town. We both ordered the Seafood plate which consisted of shrimp, haddock, and scallops. It came with a salad and a bowl of soup. The french onion soup was delicious. We then had to wait 45 minutes for our main course. When the main course arrived, it was laughable. The shrimp were small and extremely chewy. The Haddock was about 2 inches long (not joking) and when cut in half consisted of 2 bites (and I don't take big bites). The Scallops were cold but had a decent flavor to them. The cost of this meal was $16.95. It was smaller than a happy meal from McDonald's. What a rip off. They then never offered me my free Mother's Day dessert. Our waitress also let my husband's empty glass stay empty for about 20 minutes. What a way to ruin a nice Mother's Day meal. read more

This restaurant claims to be a family restaurant and I have a few problems with this because as a mom with a new baby the first thing I noticed was there was no place to change her. No changing table or even a place in the back somewhere. Also they give smaller kids (ages 4-9) regular glasses and nothing to color on. Service was so-so. I was staying across the street at the Super 8 for work and decided to walk to Bill's with coworkers. I went back every day of my stay. The menu is extensive, and the prices are modest. Cheaper than fast food and chain diners and much, much better!! I've been there for breakfast and dinner and was never not impressed with the quality of the food. Home-cooked family style meals at their finest. They put care into everything they make, even the salad. Most meals come with soup, salad, and bread and butter btw. Tonight was the third time we have had an AWFUL experience here! So now it is 3 Strikes, You're OUT!! We will NOT be returning. First thing when we get there, seated with menus. Is a bit crowded but the crowd is thinning out REAL fast. Takes 11 minutes for our waitress to just come over to get our drink order. 12 minutes later she brings our drinks, 3/4 of the crowd has left already. Takes our order. 20 minutes later she comes back and says she had to get on the kitchen for our food but does NOT ask to refill drinks. Brings husband's soup and says hate to wait for them to heat it up they ran out and was going to send COLD soup. We had to TELL her to refill drinks. 10 minutes later she brings son and my ribs, she could not remember who ordered what!! We had NO eating utensil's, waited for 5 minutes then had to HUNT her down just to get forks! 5 minutes later she finally brings out daughter and husband's food. My ribs, RAW in the center, my baked potato totally disgusting!! Tasted like it was cooked then put in the refrigerator and then just heated up again!! I took 1 bite and spit it out! Husband's shrimp AND scallops UNDER COOKED. Daughter asked for no coleslaw, no lettuce and no tomato for her burger BUT she did want pickle and mayo What she did NOT want was brought and what she wanted was NOT there! WE stop there for a afternoon meal . We spend day in Utica ny at doctor appt. I wasn't feeling good and order a Grilled cheese and fries lets say the Grease wasn't order. My wife was tired and Hungry from being with me all day and order the liver and onions all was going good UNTIL she took a bite and it was hard so she turn over the meat their was hard white things all over it . called over waitress and she called over others to look saying should not be like that talk to cook and he said was flour. So she got the owner which turn out to be a very mean person didn't want to talk about it after my wife said that it was unfair he took off $2.00 whole dollars of a meal that was not able to be eaten. What does this say for the food service even pride in how we do thing and treat people . Maybe he just want's to kill off people and profit for it.
