We used to eat there all the time and never had complaints but the last 5-6 times I've gone there it's been terrible. Food always gets forgotten but this right here is what's making this review. My girlfriend got a turkey dinner and the second she opened it we knew something was wrong and the second she put some stuffing in her mouth she almost puked.come to find out it was rotten and literally smelt like it's been sitting in a garbage can this right here was the final straw and we will not come back. I wish you could smell this picture

Nate's Place was formerly Bill's Diner so don't be confused seeing both on Yelp. This is a no frills kind of place on Rt 12 in Norwich. My wife and I stopped in for a late breakfast on a Saturday morning. We both ordered omelettes with hash browns. No complaints, the food was good and the service friendly.

Good food and service. Go there with my son's family when I visit. Like the variety on the menu.

The savory crepes are awesome, standing head and shoulders above the other crepes I've had in the area. As far as I know the rest of the menu is similarly great (according to my sweetie), but I always get crepes. I prefer the salmon crepe to the egg and bacon crepe, but that might just be me. You just walk in and order at the counter, and then grab a table in one of the rooms in what appears to be an old farmhouse. The deck looks great, but I've yet to get there on a day where it works for me. The tables are all different, old wood, in comfy rooms with large windows and simple decoration. This isn't fine dining, but it's not expensive, either. Service is pretty quick, although not instant. And the staff is pretty cheerful and friendly. On your way out, buy a pastry from the case -- they are awesome. I'm not sure whether they're made on site or at their companion store in NYC, but they rock.

Staff were very accommodating and even helped fix a table that was slightly wobbly. Server was nice and the ambience was pleasant in the dining area. Not too loud, and wasn't packed. Food: the food was very good. We started off with a couple drinks and plentiful amounts of breads. I ordered a simple craft beer and my partner had the winter margarita which was exceptional with great presentation. We ordered the whipped feta skillet for an appetizer and it was very good as I never had anything like this before. My main course consisted of the braised short ribs (exceptional by the way) and my partner ordered the ratatouille (exceptional as well). Presentation and flavor for both and outstanding. I appreciate the black slate plates which were a nice touch. I hope the pictures do justice because the food was very good. . As expensive this place is and with the newer and younger staff, they did appear knowledgeable in how to navigate the restaurant world. In my opinion. The 1 star reviews might not really be necessary for this establishment because you felt slighted a bit, so reader be wary of allowing other bad reviews Influence your choice on eating here. Check their rating history, and if it's typically 1 star reviews, maybe it's just them? Overall we felt it was a great experience, the ambience and fireplace were nice , food was very good overall! We would come back, everything seems to be going up in price now adays, so it wasn't "too" unreasonable overall. They do offer some rich history with old photos of neighboring towns which I thought was very cool to see the historic side of things.

The food was a highlight! beautifully presented, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. And the staff was genuinely attentive without ever hovering. I've only ever had breakfast and it's only usually been around 7:00 a.m.. it's a small little diner and usually has an older crowd there at least at the times that I've been there. Breakfast is pretty good, I haven't yet had anything that I didn't like, however one dish does stand out in my opinion and that would be the country fried steak. I ordered it a couple weeks ago and it was incredible, the best country fried steak that I've had anywhere and so when I was there a couple days ago I ordered it again. This way I could tell if the first time was a fluke or that's how they actually make it and it was just as good. Other places you order this and it comes out a little soggy or even cold in the middle, but Charlie's place does it perfectly. It does have gravy on it which isn't too spicy, which I consider a good thing because I can always add more spice but you can't really take it away if it's already there. Prices aren't too bad at least in comparison to other places. The place itself is pretty clean looking and there's plenty of parking lot to go around. They also have an outside dining area in the back however I'm usually there like I said pretty early in the morning so I've never seen anybody using it however probably a lunch thing.
