As I read the reviews posted I'm actually surprised because our experience was the opposite of what has been reported . From our very first encounter to the very last they were nothing but professional. When we chose to replace our 30 plus year old system the process was as seamless. We compared prices with other companies and found Bills to be the best value. The day the crew came out the communication with the company was amazing. We knew each crew members names, qualifications, experience, and were given a photo of each person that entered into our home. They crew worked without taking breaks and tore out the old system and installed the new. AND They hauled it all away. I could tell by the way they were working together that they enjoyed their job. When finished all three of them came in and let us know that the job was finished. I HIGHLY recommend Bills! In fact we recommend them to our daughter and son in law and they had their system replaced a few months ago. read more

Bills Heating and AC in Spokane, WA was hired by our realtor to perform a basic inspection/service check on an older AC and furnace during the sale of my father's home. We were quoted $59 per unit and specifically instructed the company to coordinate ALL communication through our realtor because our family lives out of town and my elderly father becomes easily confused with complicated decisions. Instead, after the inspection, the salesperson Jacob bypassed the realtor entirely and contacted my elderly father directly. He told him the furnace and AC were over 25 years old -- something everyone already knew and had already accepted, including the buyers. Despite this, my father was pressured into purchasing thousands of dollars worth of new equipment that was never required as part of the home sale. To make matters worse, the new AC unit was installed in the middle of the outdoor patio area instead of where the previous unit had been located. The placement looks terrible and may now create issues with the buyers because the patio was previously a functional entertaining space. When I called Bills Heating and AC to express our concerns and ask for help correcting the installation placement, I was dismissed by the receptionist and told this was simply "my opinion." I also asked for ownership or upper management contact information and was refused. Taking advantage of elderly homeowners and ignoring the designated point of contact is unacceptable business practice. If mistakes are made, reputable companies work to correct them -- not deflect responsibility. I would strongly caution others, especially families with elderly parents, before doing business with this company. read more

A full service was promised for $50 The following was not done on our furnace: Birds REMOVED from intake pipe Adjust gas pressure Flame sensor cleaned or replaced Test for Carbon monoxide in the house Clean condensate Trap Pipes showed poor burn and therefore tech recommend recommended that we buy a new furnace I slept on it and in the morning called the HVAC team that put the system in our new house. They promptly sent out a tech and did all the above maintenance which was supposed to be done by Bills tech. I don't know if it's true or not but each tech supposedly gets $500 for each furnace they sell. Which I didn't realize was under warranty. I did not need a new furnace, and therefore, I believe I was trying to be taken advantage of. Once I realize the work that was not done I immediately contacted Bills for a refund. They promptly refunded the money, which was very professional. However, all work should've been done at the time of service and therefore, I would not recommend this business. I had such high expectations for Bill's Heating and A/C but unfortunately ended up feeling like they were trying to rip me off. Please, if you read this review, do your research before you let them do any work. Bill's Heating and A/C are getting a pass because of their high reviews for scamming people. Maybe at some point they were ethical and that is how they gained these positive reviews but with my experience at Bill's Heating and A/C this definitely felt like a scam. I'm not stupid and did some research on specific repairs on my A/C and the one in specific that it ended up being was the fan condenser motor which with research should cost anywhere from $500-$1000 installed. I even got pricing on a OEM carrier motor from a local business. It was $390. Do the math though, say even $600 for the motor because I understand they have to make a profit. We will even say $600 for labor because research says that even on the high end that an HVAC company could charge is 300 per hour and that particular job is 90 minutes. I would have accepted $1,200 but they tried to charge us over $1,600. I asked for an itemized invoice 3 times and nobody there can provide us with one. I was told only the supervisor can and that he would but get guess what? Still have not received it. Came home from traveling for work to find my heater was not working. This week winter came on full force dropping to 32 degrees tonight. Asked around and Bill's Heating and A/C was recommended. When I advised of the issue that my heater was not working they walked me through a few steps over the phone to test it and schedule an appointment for first thing in the am. They actually called the same day and advised they had an opening end of day and sent a technician over! I was elated to get same day service. After he diagnosed the unit he advised it was the control board and the unit was only 5 years old. Walking me through warranty info on that particular unit, he advised I call the company that installed the unit to verify if they will still honor the warranty as they are usually 10 years. I thought his honesty to have me call the original company first was the kind of customer service I am looking for. After he left I called the original company that installed and found out their service call is $20 more than Bill's, has a wait until Monday so that is 6 days and cannot tell me anything about what the warranty covers without the tech coming by. Bill's is 100% where I will keep my business and refer others! read more

We scheduled a diagnostic visit because our furnace stopped working and we suspected a condensate pump issue. The technician did a full walkthrough, but the appointment quickly turned into a heavy upsell for an entirely new furnace rather than focusing on the immediate, minimal repair we repeatedly asked for. When I mentioned I had done some research and thought the condensate pump was the likely problem (which later turned out to be correct), the technician became noticeably defensive and awkward. We were very clear that we wanted the bare minimum fix to restore heat for our family, but it felt like that wasn't the priority. We were also told they "don't do" any cleaning or temporary troubleshooting -- only full replacement -- and the tone came across annoyed rather than helpful. To make things worse, the technician left our crawlspace door open and the light on when leaving. And no one mentioned that simply draining the condensate pump reservoir could have allowed us to run the heater temporarily while waiting several days for replacement, which we discovered ourselves later. Overall, the experience felt more sales-driven than service-driven, and we were disappointed given how urgent heat issues are in winter. read more

This review is only about the on demand water heater. In general, Bill's is an excellent company, they do good work. When I had a problem with the furnace, their service manager came out personally when his team members were not available. The hot water heater works fine, but I did not realize that as part of the five year warranty, I need to have them flush it once a year. This is fine, except they charge 300 dollars for less than an hour's work. So I would caution anyone purchasing the on demand water heater, as to keep your labor warranty you will need to pay 1500 dollars over five years. Bills responded to me. They explained the cost involved in the flush, and I can now see the value, though I might choose to let the warranty lapse next year. The problem was that the person who I spoke to didn't explain why it was so expensive. That, and I didn't know there would be these costs when I replaced the water heater. During mid-July, 2025, my AC system stopped cooling and so I called Bill's Heating and AC. After troubleshooting the issues I was told my condenser was blown and I needed a $5,000.00 new AC system. I then called a company I used to work with in an older home to come by for a 2nd opinion. My technician said he could get the system up & running again by just replacing a $275 capacitor. sure enough, it worked beautifull. We needed to have our furnace serviced. Bill's came out and looked at our old furnace for two seconds (yes, I know it's a very old furnace) , and said they couldn't service it, and said I needed a whole new system, and quoted me $8000. I called another place and the guy looked at our furnace and said, "They don't make them like this anymore!" He knew exactly how to service it, and did the needed things. Said that even though it was old, it was in good working order. Only paid $300 to have it serviced. Bill's just wants to sell new furnaces to meet quotas. read more

We had a technician come out to work on our boiler (in one of our rental homes) which had stopped working. Instead of fixing the problem he just sent me a quote for a new boiler, at $15,000. Our boiler is only 8 years old. A new boiler, for the exact same model costs $5,000 plus tax. The boiler had a melted wire to the igniter, which we easily ended up fixing ourselves that evening at zero cost. We are going to replace the wire and ignitor at a cost of $172.00. If the tech didn't have the ability to fix it he should have just said so instead of suggesting we needed a new boiler. And he most certainly should have returned my phone calls. I feel like we were charged $134.00 for nothing. We do not recommend them for anything service related. read more

i would give 0 stars if I could for their very poor customer service. We were told all service would be completed on the day of service call, so we paid them in full. Big mistake! There was a grate to close a hole in the wall which they took measurements on day of install. Then we had to keep contacting them and they sent 2 techs out on different days to remeasure. Finally a grate was placed, but it is too large for the size hole. We contacted again and was told we can get a different size but you will be charged for it! They did a great job installing so no conduit was visible and did a good job explaining the units operation and maintenance that should be performed. Since the request for Bills heating to come out to my house I have not heard good reviews from neighbors, workers, and even family members, which have experienced poor service. Now I know! I requested for a dryer vent to be installed and redirected, so a technician was sent out to give me an estimate for what I requested and I accepted the bid and paid the first half to start the job. I was not able to be present at the time of install and the technician contacted me while I was at work to tell me that there was an issue with the install. He told me the alternate installation and without being present I trusted his judgement that he was going to do a professional job/installation. Well, I got home from work and walked into my laundry room to check out the work performed, which I was very unhappy and was not what the technician described to what he was going to do. He also told me a couple other reasons why the he had to change the placement of the vent pipe. He said water lines were in the way and I crawled under the house to the crawl space to find that there were no water lines within a couple feet of the installation. the other was that the vent connection was going to be as close to the wall as possible like an inch. The vent pip[e coming up through the floor was 4 to 5 inches from the wall which now places my dryer further away from the wall. I had reached out to the manager and a few days later he returned my call, which I had missed so returned his call and left a message of my concerns and the install was not professional. I could have performed the install myself for roughly $50.00 of material from Home Depot, The charge was $535.10 for a poor venting installation of approximately 8' of 4" venting. Placement of the pipe is not correct, the security of the pipe is not secure, the vent cover attached to the outside wall is not straight. My contractor as well questioned why the concern was not brought up at the time of estimate? That was my question as well? I did service work for over 10 years and this should have been caught and mentioned at the time of estimate. If I would have known, I would have completed it myself; as I was having flooring and drywall and a belly pan installed the next day, so placed me in a pinch and thought the job would have been performed professionally. Will not recommend Bill's Heating for any job from here on out! For Bill's heating to correct what they did and to make it right would have to pay to replace the floor board and flooring, which has been completed due to that I have been out of my home since July due to a water leak. this is October and am out for at least another week, which will be November 2025. Taylor and her crew were professional and got the job done in the same day. There were four mini splits put in. I was very happy with the price that they gave us as I had a competitor. Give me a lower price and bills met that price. we paid for it with cash although I wanted to finance it but apparently my credit wasn't good even though my credit is good but luckily we had enough money to pay for it outright but now we're broke again but that's OK. We'll survive. It wasn't Bill's fault it was synchrony bank who miss out on making some bank from us because we would have only Finance the whole amount and then put a huge down payment down and then paid it off within a matter of months. This is the second time I have used this company's services, and have been more than satisfied with their work. They arrive on time and get to work! They were easy to talk to and explained everything that was asked of them. The office was great to work with as well and remained polite, even with all the phone calls and questions I had. The price was reasonable for a new AC unit. Too, I was familiar with SEER rates and knew what I needed, requested and got. Ok, for fairness, first The Good Their office staff is competent and polite, and they came out quickly when we requested a new heat pump and propane furnace. Those units were installed in a professional manner. They also came out ten times subsequently to find out why our system isn't cooling our home as well as the one they replaced (including a trip in which they replaced the outside unit after they burned it out while trying to diagnose it). This leads us to ... The Bad Bills is first and foremost about making money and expanding their business throughout Washington and Idaho. To that end, their goal is to sell, and to do so at the least expense. That unfortunately means that they hire technicians to do the site evaluation to decide what type of units to install that will do the jobs of heating and cooling in the home. Unfortunately, these technicians' skill and education level is very limited. They will ask you your home's square footage, and based solely off of that metric, choose a unit for your home. The technicians are good at following rote instruction manuals for installation, and for clicking one button on a computer that takes the square footage and gives them an answer as to what system to install. They are not engineers. They do not do a thermal profile of your home. They do not consider the direction the home faces, the amount of sunshine it is exposed to, the square footage of windows, the r-value of the windows, the r-value of your walls and ceiling, the number of floors of your home, the freedom air has to flow through your home - in short, anything that is actually relevant and necessary to properly choosing a system for your home. So, when Bill's chose a unit for our home, replacing our 25 year old non-staging heat pump, they purely considered square footage, nothing else. That led them to install a modulating unit that was 4 tons rather than the 3 ton unit they replaced. They assumed it would be good. It is not - when it gets to 90 outside, it gets to 82 inside, with a 75 degree set point. As an engineer myself, examining the system dynamics and site characteristics, it was apparent to me from the get go at the beginning of summer that the unit they installed was simply unable to output the btus of cooling necessary. They came out ten times to make sure the system was performing up to its specs, which I could have told them it was, and sure enough, it is. They cannot admit though that the system they installed is not the *right* one for our home. They consider their responsibility to have ended when the hardware *they chose* is working acccording to its specifications - they don't care that it isn't doing the job is was purchased for, namely, to keep the home comfortably cool. (It turns out that the problem with the system they installed in our home is that it modulates based off of return air temperature, averaged across all returns, and that since our basement is cooler than our top levels, it is reluctant to modulate up since it sees some already-cool air. The old system, being non-modulating, always ran full blast, and kept up with the cooling load.) Bill's now seeks to blame their system's failure to keep our home comfortable, ironically, on the very factors they failed to consider when *they chose* the system to install (lots of windows and an open floor plan, etc.). Which leads to ... The Ugly So now we have an mis-spec'd system that cannot keep our home cool, that Bill's says is working fine because it is performing as it was designed. Sadly, Bill's takes no responsibility for the fact this perfectly performing system just happens to be the wrong system for our home. Trying to explain that Bill's chose the system based on their overly simplistic home evaluation and that, as such, its failure to keep the home cool is their responsibility is like talking to a wall. They either simply cannot understand that point, or choose not to. Conclusion If your home is anything other than a standard cookie cutter home and average in all thermodynamic ways, Bills can install a system that works for you. Otherwise, don't go with Bills as they cannot process other factors mentally when evaluating your home;nd later, if you are unlucky enough to have had them install your system, they will not take responsibility for the system they chose not serving the needs of your home. read more

It was winter and the heater shut off. I called Bills for a eval, the tech came out and said the furnace had to be replaced. He said there was a crack behind the unit that could only been seen with a camera and it was leaking gas into the house. He said minimum $4k to replace but they would do a payment plan. Im a single parent with little kids on a tight budget. I told him i would try to figure something out and call them. He called the gas company and had them shut my gas off without my knowlede so we couldnt even cook. I called Avista and they came out and said there was nothing wrong with the unit, changed the filter and the battery in the smoke/carbon monoxide detector and said to always call them first. The Hitachi unit is better than not ever would've expected. The value I got out of this whole installation is beyond my expectations. The communication and the work was done better than my expectations. I couldn't be happier with the job that Drew and Derek did at my home. They exceeded all of my expectations. They did a really clean professional job. They were courteous, polite, knowledgeable, and kept me up-to-date on what was happening during the install. I would recommend Bill's heating to anyone. We had our hot water heater repaired that transaction went perfect, The person that comes out to bid on the job also looked at our heater.the pcb board which we have needs to be replaced. we were quoted $200 The tech comes to my house. rude. and told me there are loose wires i can't touch this. I said well that is because the pcb board needs to be installed. Hourly rate was ridiculous so he suggested we install a new heater. Very good service and value from the initial estimate meeting to the post install follow up. we got a high efficiency furnace, uv scrubber, ac unit, tankless water heater and they had to replace about 40 ft of ducting. After we accepted their bid we were put on the schedule very quickly. Id say we scheduled on a thursday for the following monday. They showed up on time and in force. prob 6 guys that got right down to business. first day they ripped everything out and started installing. Next day they finished the whole jin around noon. Everyone was very polite and respectful. They even put tarps down upstairs to protect the hard wood floors. 0% Financing was an easy process. would definitely recommend Bills. read more

Our A/C went out during the 2022 heatwave. We contacted Bill's and they came out on that Sunday. We were billed for a Sunday call, no problems. The guy was here for a few minutes and we were quoted approximately $1000 to replace the defective part. We went online and found the replacement part for $200. I don't have an issue with a company making money but $800 is a bit much. Anyway we decided to replace our heat/cool unit and asked them for a quote. We waited and waited....no quote. We call several other companies, received their quotes and found one company that purchases units in advance so they have some in stock. Had that unit installed, no problem. We get a bill from Bill's for our Sunday service call and we call to ask them where is our quote for a new unit, eventhough we were getting a new unit installed in a few days from another company. A couple days later we get the call from a salesman, he provides the quote via email and ask if we want to schedule an install. We said no thank you. After we reviewed their quote they were going to keep the credit we should be getting for a new energy furnace. Why would they want to keep a credit that you the consumer should be getting. We just returned back to the INW after several years starting out our careers in Northwestern Wa. We purchased a hole in the Valley and it had a very old furnace and water heater. We called Bill's and they came out with in a day or two and provided an estimate. We agreed and they were out a week later. Because this occurred during a heat wave of 100 degree temps, and parts were back ordered, the technicians said they would bring out 3 portable A/C units for us to borrow, and it was late in the day on Friday. I thought for sure we would not see them until at least Monday. I now recommend Bill' s to whomever needs HVAC service. read more

I hired Bill's Heating and Air to replace my furnace with a York HVAC system during the coldest week of the year. The furnace was acting funny and the CO was too high so it had to be replaced. Bill's Heating and Air was recommended by a friend and both Danielle and Paul were pleasant to deal with ... thanks guys. But there were communication issues with the Owner early on. If this had not been an emergency replacement, I would have hired someone else. But my family was freezing. The scope of work was arranged via email & phone but the Thursday they were supposed to do the install, they didn't show up (11 Degrees that day ). Instead, Bill insisted I meet him Friday to show him EXACTLY what I wanted.  So we waited extra days in the coldest week of the year to show them what I wanted. That Friday, they successfully changed my mind about specifics of the install several times in favor of their recommendations. I was flexible.  On EVERY point where I wanted to do something that's not Bill's norm, they were able to talk me through it and win me over to their recommendations. So Friday, the scope of work was clearly set and the install scheduled for Monday. Then again, on the scheduled installation day, in my absence the electrical tech asked my son "Can I show you what we are thinking about doing?" This should not have happened. I had defined a clear scope of work with Bill and Paul.  The tech's question caused my son to question what I actually wanted and to comment on it.  My son's comments caused the tech to get confused and so he just left! Bill's Heating and Air failed to effectively communicate with their tech and so we ended up with still no heat. When I got on the phone with the Owner to complain that they had upset the schedule AGAIN, the Owner literally screamed and swore at me! I cannot begin to express how shocked I was to be screamed at and cussed out by the Owner.  It was beyond unprofessional and totally uncalled for.  I also deal with customers every day and this is no way to work together on a project. I was very flexible on the entire project. The only hard line I drew in the sand was PAYING IN FULL for a system before it is complete.  This is TOTALLY frowned upon where I come from.  I am still new in CDA and learning the culture but I would never pay in advance for contracted services. Only stupid people pay a contractor 100% in advance. Thank God I didn't pay up front too because the HVAC system did not pass inspection the first time. In the end, the system is working fine to the best of my knowledge. However, this has been a terrible experience and I cannot recommend Bill's Heating and Air to anyone. read more

I had a horrible experience with them putting in our heating system in our new build in Newport, WA. First off they wanted full payment before they would start the rough-in. Then, they sent a rookie out to do the trim, and my electrician had to help him. When I called to have a supervisor come out and inspect his work, my calls were never returned. I made the mistake in choosing this company in a moment of desperation. my experience ended in purchasing a furnace that did not work with my heat pump. Dealing with the service manager, general manager, and owner, all of whom denied responsibility, and refused to provide a refund after stating they would do so. We are currently working with the Better Business Bureau, the Idaho Department of Licensing, in the Idaho Attorney General's office. we have many people sharing their experience who are preparing to testify. We have since spoken to several general contractors who have shared that the only reason they use this company is because of staff. Staff which is mostly made up of young men with very little experience. I strongly encourage you to do your research before using this company for any of your HVAC needs. read more

Was told they would be out between 8:00 - 5:00 which should of maybe been a red flag its presently 4:41 and still waiting . i made a phone call at 3:00 to be told by the rude receptionist they will be out . My fault i agreed to sit and wait as i continued to think they would arrive shortly . Just short of 8 years ago I had Bill's install ac water heater a furnace and an electrical panel 200A service...To start with after the install in early summer, the room with on demand hot water filled with gas Avista came ventilated and found a fitting finger loose..The electrician did great as far as the electrical itself but he damaged trim pieces bored holes in concrete and left all the mess IE concrete piles haha..Tried the furnace later in the fall before it got real cold and suprise it did not work..I diagnosed it but was not going to repair. They sent a tech and yup pressure switch was bad.. fast forward the inductiob motor quit spinning i called Bill's to ask if it was under warranty.They would not do anything or answer the question until I spend $28 to have their tech diagnose it. I said assume I am correct , is it still under warranty? Would not answer Jennifer passed the buck to Rene and said she would return my call.. never called I called back asked for Rene, Jennifer would not pass me to her just reiterated the same nonsense...SO Truth is you may get your warranty or info on warranty 5 year 10 year??? lol for a cost??.. I bought the motor from amazon but will never recommend Bill's Heating and cooling in CDL Idaho. The guy that came out to service my system was great. The reason I gave them only two stars is because the woman that answers the phone is rude beyond belief! They shouldn't have someone working in customer service that has no manners or people skills. read more

Several weeks ago my air conditioning unit stopped working. I put in an emergency call, they were able to come out and assess the situation and followed up a couple of days later to repair the unit. The unit had to be replaced and was replaced by Bill's Heating. Bill's Heating kept me informed and was prompt in dealing with my issues.
