This place is a SAVIOR for those who sleep until noon three days in a row (not me ) and crave breakfast. One of their lunch plates is pancakes, which are just AMAZING! Not the fluffiest I've ever had, but exactly what I needed. The fruit was also delicious. They give you an optional survey with the check (which they took a very long time to bring). Firstly, I have to say that the decor is pretty awesome. I went their with my newspaper-and-chill-with-tea-friend and spent more time pointing out quirks than reading my paper. Quality of food is perfectly fine, nothing outstandingly special, but for Covent Garden and the price.. it's a pretty good steal. The teapots are pretty great too - but I know I have a thing for a good teapot. Only two downsides, the staff are a little bit slow and the brunch is only served until 1200 so not somewhere to rock up at with a late afternoon hangover. The venue. I was on my own and arrived at around 8.30. I had to wait around 10 minutes for a table, which I wasn't expecting but they do provide a sofa for waiting diners so it wasn't a problem. However, while I was never made to feel hurried by the excellent staff once I was seated, the busyness of the place doesn't really encourage you to stay much after you've eaten. The food. I ordered the 'Bill's breakfast', which comes with a Cumberland sausage, two fried eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms and toast. I also added the bubble and squeak, which added £1 to the £7.95 basic price for the breakfast and an Americano coffee at £1.95. The quality of the food is excellent, although the sausage (while very good) was a tad small, with nothing on the menu suggesting you can add another one. However the bubble and squeak was fantastic. And while I'm no coffee expert, it was fine. Value. The breakfast with coffee added up to being a bit more than you'd expect to pay in a greasy spoon, for slightly less food. However the quality does compensate. My only grievance regarding price was the addition of an optional service charge. I have no criticism of the service I had at Bill's and was actually prepared to tip over the amount indicated for the charge, but ended up sticking to their total, making me feel a little awkward about not leaving a tip, as such. But that may just be a personal hang up. Summing Up. Bill's offers a good value breakfast if you're looking for something a bit more upmarket than a greasy spoon without wanting to shell out on somewhere like The Wolesley. If only they'd drop the service charge. read more

Decent take-away breakfast and some good sit-in options, but service is dreadful. I work across the road and regularly get a take-away breakfast. They are constantly training new staff, who have no idea how to use their fiendishly complicated till. With the limited experience of having ordered take-away a few times a month for a year or so, I am confident I could operate the till faster and more accurately than the majority of their staff. The probability of receiving what you ordered hovers around 50% - I would definitely advise checking before taking your food away, especially if you're a vegetarian, in case some bacon should sneak its way into your egg sandwich. Price seems to vary between £2.something and £5+ for the same coffee and sandwich each time. While I've come to accept, and indeed love, this endearing level of incompetence, some of the staff are outright rude. I particularly enjoyed one of our party being told he could not have his latte to take away when his food took over half an hour to arrive at a pre-work breakfast. Bill's is a rather odd location for breakfast. Its in the heart of the touristy Covent Garden and yet hard to find (in fact, two of us couldn't even make it here that morning ... having lost their way). Having said that its an unusual, and not so little coffee shop (its spread over two floors). It seems that their major business is selling a number of household food items like jams and juices etc, rather than cooked food. The menu was quite limited ... a few standard variations of eggs and bread and english breakfast, which disappointed me. I usually prefer pancakes or french toast for breakfast. The food was quite good. I got an english breakfast. The sausage was a bit different than usual. I chose to have "bubble and squeak" instead of the baked beans. Who knew that fried leftover vegetables could taste so good :) However the service was not the best. It was slow and unresponsive. I didn't want the tomato in my breakfast and requested them to instead give me an extra egg. I have made such requests at several other places and it had never been refused, except for here. Then i asked them not to get me the tomato ... i didn't want to waste it. But they brought me that anyway. On the positive side they make some good fresh juices which you should try if you ever visit. The price is not exorbitant. I imagine it would be a nice place for an early riser tourist. read more

I ordered an Eggs Royale and a latte. The food was OK but nothing spectacular. I would recommend coming to Bill's if you're looking for an easy, hassle free breakfast. But if you're in the mood for something that will blow your tastebuds away, I don't think this will satisfy your palate! read more

Brunch & Coffee SWAG!! A truly hidden gem off LongAcre near Covent Garden. This is one of the fresher brunch places in London that is even affordable! Not a common thing in London! I had the Eggs Royale or an English version of Eggs Benedict with salmon and pumpkin seeds. It was quite enjoyable. The service and the atmosphere make for a great afternoon. I've been to the Bill's in Covent Garden as well as to the one in Lewes, where Bill got his start. I'm a fan. The food is made from fresh, local produce and is relatively good value. It's also a visual delight: pots of jams and preserves line the walls cheerfully. Highly recommended. read more

So sad... my second experience at Bill's was not so great... Work BFF and I decided to take friends here for lunch. We had to wait for a table, which was fine, although because it was raining outside, it was difficult for all of us to wait inside without getting in the way of everyone. I was a little surprised that at 3 p.m. this place was still buzzing. Our waitress came over and sat down in the fifth chair and she seemed friendly enough. We were waiting on one of my friends, but she had told us to go ahead and order. So we did and the waitress said she would be back when my friend showed up. We had trouble deciding on what to eat, but eventually we ordered: Haloumi and Humus, Cod Fish Finger Sandwich, Avocado and Bacon Salad with chicken, and Broad Bean and Pea Risotto. Although there was an issue with trying to order the Avocado and Bacon Salad with chicken as the waitress kept saying to Work BFF's sister that she could order the Caesar Salad and add avocado and bacon... however that isn't what she wanted. The waitress came back eventually saying, "I put the order in. We'll see what we get." Our starter showed up about 30 seconds before our mains, but it wasn't a huge deal. My friend showed up, but our waitress never did. We ended up waving down another waitress so she could order. Our waitress showed up well after she had ordered, however, we decided that we were probably going to want tea/coffee and dessert so asked for the menu, she took off and a few minutes later, she was sitting in the corner eating and texting. All of a sudden our table had been abandoned. No waitress was reassigned to us, so we were just sitting there trying to get someone's attention, but because we were in the far corner, it was really difficult to do that. Eventually we were able to get someone's attention and order two orders of the Mini Cinnamon Donuts, various teas, and a cappuccino. Tea came out, cappuccino came out, milk and sugar came out, and I saw the donuts come out... but after the waiter looked around, brought it to another table, went back to talk to another waitress, he went back to the kitchen with them. At this time, Work BFF had received a pot of tea, but no cup for her tea. Eventually the donuts came back out to our table and Work BFF took the opportunity to ask for a cup. The waitress went over to the prep area where there were glasses and condiments, she looked around, then stood there talking with someone. We had to ask someone else. Another waitress came back (at this point I had lost count of how many waitresses we had asked for help) with the cup, but took the sugar off of the table without asking if Work BFF or anyone else was finished with it, especially since Work BFF had just received her cup. Annoyed and potentially starting to boil, Work BFF waved the waitress back over and said, "Can we have our sugar back?" She went to yet another table, asked them if she could take their sugar, then brought it over to us. When we got the bill, we noticed they had charged the discretionary service charge... everyone at the table agreed we were not paying it. Now, we are Americans, tipping is part of our culture, and even when we get less than good service, we tend to still leave a little something, but this... this wasn't even worth leaving anything. It is a good thing we were not in a hurry, but this was just upsetting because the food was really good. Really good! The service was shocking, especially after my first visit. So we put the exact cash for the cost before the service charge and the waitress came over and told us that we were short. We calmly explained that the service charge is optional and we do not have to pay it. She walked away still confused, but that was the end of that. Really disappointing. read more

A few weeks ago I organised my company's christmas party at Bill's and the staff were helpful and diligent. They were amenable to changes in numbers and orders, even when I submitted it later than required. Id never visited Bill's before but I found the atmosphere warm and inviting and the design quirky. The food itself was very nice, simple and came out quickly. The staff as ever were lovely and we were given a nice big area to ourselves. We all agreed that we had a great time and we'd happily visit again! read more

Bill's attracted me because of the cool decorations and the quality mediterranean food. The dishes sound and taste quite good but I was a bit disappointed by the sizes. Personally I'm not a fan of huge portions but I felt kinda sorry for my dad and my brother who sure would have welcomed fuller plates. The mains appeared more like starters to be honest. Still they didn't complain because the flavours were good. I might go again if I'm looking for a place where you can easily get a table on a Saturday night. read more

Brought my friends from the states to here. There was nice interior decor where they lot candles which gave good feels. The service was excellent too. The food was superb. I got the duck pie which came with those coleslaw dish. The flavor was really good and it was really filling. Do not be deceived by the size, the little dish fills you up fast! It's a cute little place, but attempts to appeal way too much to American tourists. No lovely English bacon, baked beans and black pudding not included. Visited on 29th March 2011 for our breakfast, about 0900. Breakfast was "pretty" enough on the plate - I had a full english and my wife had scrambled eggs on toast, but it was only luke warm at best. Service was slow and inefficient even though there were only about half a dozen people in, including us, and loads of staff. It's a wee bit out of the way, not being on a main road and I'm not sure if it was really worth the effort. Plently of other place every bit as good, (but not so "posh"), in the area at almost half the price. Certainly not worth the hype, nor the money. read more

A London friend took us to dinner here before dashing off for a play. It was fabulous food and a cool rustic atmosphere. Really fresh and delicious. I had the roast chicken which was cooked to perfection. I gave it four stars because friends weren't as thrilled with theirs as i was but still liked it fine. We were not able to get into Joe Allen's and they reccomended this place....wish they hadn't. Mushroom soup was OK, nothing special and the salad with ancient grains was fine. Things went downhill after that. My wife's chicken was so overcooked it was inedible and I had some fish concoction topped with mashed potatoes that was blah. You would think the waitstaff would look at an uneaten dish and inquire if there was a problem but they didn't. Maybe I am spoiled but I do expect to be offered water and bread, neither of which were forthcoming. My gin and tonic was good but they were quite stingy on the pour of my wife's white wine. This was my favourite place for breakfast in London, until today. Cold bubble and squeak, soggy toast, cold & raw eggs, tiny portions. Very, very disappointed. I went to Bill's with a couple of friends. At first they told us it would be a half hour wait, then they said we could only have our table for an hour and a half. They seated us upstairs, even though one of my friends was on crutches from a broken ankle. So far, so not good. The service after that was good, if a bit rushed. I had the Halloumi and Hummus sandwich, which is ok. The roasted red peppers could have been roasted more as they were almost uncooked. It was a relatively tasty burger but nothing special. Probably won't go back for dinner, but the breakfast is supposed to be good so I might come back for that. read more

The hamburgers (that claim to be the best in London) are absolutely nothing special. they taste like the cheap ones you can get at any supermarket, with too much breadcrumbs and a bit dry. They will ask you if you want it "with chips", but you have to pay them extra (it is stated in the menu). The roast chicken is OK. the spare ribs are submerged in barbecue sauce, therefore that will be the only flavour you'll get. I'll definitely will not go back to Bill's. read more

Excellent service and food! Tomato and red pepper soup was delicious as was the goat cheese and watermelon salad. Calamari was fair. We sat outside on the patio which was lovely, although it seemed like a cool vibe inside as well. Fairly inexpensive for London prices. read more

It is a great place. I work in the area and often go to Bill's for breakfast.

My wife had been here a couple of times before when visiting London and raved about it so much so that on Sunday morning last we arrived (4 of us) for breakfast before leaving for the airport for the flight home. What can I say ? Excellent in every department, from the food to the service to the bill. The Food; ''Bills breakfast'' was excellent (although it might be a good idea to ask for 2 Cumberland sausages as one is not enough) The scrambled egg on toast with bacon on the side was how scrambled eggs should be done, and the ''eggs benedict'' were according to one of our party, gorgeous. The Service; The service was a bit slow but this is probably because everything is cooked to order and when it arrived at the table it arrived with a smile. The waitress was attentive and very pleasant and although the restaurant was busy there was no attempt to hurry us along in order to free up the table. The Bill; Given that the location is central London the bill was very reasonable and comparable with anywhere else in the country. Will definitely be back the next time we are in London. read more

A review of Bill's at Westfield London -Slow response when taking orders (had to wait 10min and it wasn't even during rush hour) after acknowledgement -Waitress has a poor understanding of English/spoke with broken English -Waiter brought dirty plates (visible cheese residue on the rim of plate), when asked for the 2 plates to be replaced, waiter never came back with the replacement plates until we had to remind him -Waitress did not refill water jugs -Ordered medium rare burger, got a well done burger -Salmon main was overcooked, hard and dry -Waitress got an order wrong (although she did apologize profusely and acknowledge that it was her mistake) -The dishes were oval in shape, when the waiter came back with the correct order, she placed the dish Perpendicular, ON TOP of a previously finished oval dish! This was such a stray from common sense and logic that we couldn't help but burst into laughter at her apparent stupidity. -Waitress never asked us how was our food (expected from any restaurant with dishes costing above £10) -Waitress was inattentive and distracted the entire time (the restaurant did looked understaffed) Overall: Most appalling London restaurant I've visited to date. I had to intentionally make a Yelp account just to post about this traumatic visit. Gave a 1p tip. Hopefully there is something else she excels in besides waitressing. This restaurant can give me a £100 gift coupon and I still wouldn't come back. Only Positive comment I can leave behind: Ribs were Decent, but Spaghetti House does it better and that is just sad. read more

My first visit to Bill's and what a wonderful experience from the moment we arrived until we left we were very well attended. Fabulous view from the second floor being able to see the whole of the Courtyard below. Lovely evening, people sitting outside chatting with family and friends. Ambience was good with authentic surroundings and wall to wall of chutneys, jams, cordials etc. We had the mezza which was like a meal in itself followed by Welsh moules and frites, just delicious with a couple of bottles of house white. The service was attentive but not overbearing and everyone had a good evening. Will definitely go back. Well done to the hard working staff. read more
