And when his flatbed truck left black tire marks all over my driveway, the owner of Bill's Towing refused to take responsibility for his driver's mistake. The first time I called, they said they would have a driver out in 45 minutes. I waited over an hour before calling back. Driver said he would be here in 15 minutes. 30 minutes later, no sign of him, so I called again, and he said he would be here in 2 minutes. 15 minutes later, nothing, so I called the dispatcher, and she sent someone else - and he was here in 15 minutes. So the second driver - his name was John - gets a 5 star review for his prompt, professional service. The first driver, I hope you never get stuck with him! Never forgot the worse experience we had for a towing, had to meet my niece from another city so I took about 15 minutes longer then they did to get to destination. Driver decided they were going to bill another hour on top of delivery. Unprofessional & knew they were being dirty. Paid dues whatever, have some integrity dude, you run a business act like it. In August, Tacoma Police had a family member's vehicle that was involved in a tragic, devastating car versus motorcycle fatality accident towed by Bill's towing and to their tow yard. We were told it would be there as "evidence" , until prosecutors office could review for potential charges- none were ever filed. Detective on the case said to call Bill's Towing biweekly to inquire if hold was lifted since they don't usually call you when it's lifted but you get a letter in the mail (which could take days, while vehicle incurs storage charges.) This was much to Bill's Towing staff's chagrin, a self-described " family-owned business with sound principles." When we would call for status updates and provide info, we'd be met with loud sighs, put on long holds or just major attitude, so exceptionally unprofessional. They are a storage yard; they should expect status update calls! In late October, Detective called back and said the case was "now on the prosecutor's radar and they were aware of it" meaning that someone had clearly dropped the ball in reviewing case. He recommended also calling Bill's Towing still to check in. Fast forward to early January, almost 5 months after car accident and Detective called at 10:00 am to say the hold was lifted on vehicle and could be picked up. He said there was no charges as driver was not being charged with a crime and TPD would cover the fees, aka the taxpayers would be covering the exorbitant fees. I called Bill's towing and was told that it might not be able to be picked up that day because they were "busy with an auction" and I said I was picking it up anyway because I don't want to have to pay ridiculous storage fees, so she said to "call back in 3 hours." Called back in 3 hours and spoke to a very, very rude man. I asked if vehicle started or had flat tires since it had been sitting for almost 5 months and so I could prep for pickup. His answer was "it's on all 4 wheels, that's all I'm required to tell you". He then said I had to be there at least 30 minutes prior to closing to do paperwork and that I had to pay the impound fee. I told him I would be there at least 30 minutes prior to closing if they wanted to get vehicle ready. I arrived at 4:10 (they close at 5) and they buzzed me into lobby. Lady started pulling up the info then decided to answer the phone and have a chit chat with caller for several minutes while my daughter and I stood there. Super classy. After paying the $261.41 impound fee, she told my young daughter and me to wait outside in the front and they'd bring out car. It was freezing, dark and pouring rain with no cover and the guys working in the yard were standing around. Finally, 10 + minutes later a forklift comes out and pays musical cars, ripping the bumper off one of them and hitting another, seemingly not a care in the world and disrespectful to people's property. At about 20 minutes our vehicle was brought out on forklift and parked, more like wedged, between two huge trucks in a carport front end butted up against a building. Vehicle was dead and had 2 flat tires. Not one person, who witnessed my young daughter and me trying to figure out how to get jumper cables to reach car, offered to help with jumping it or putting air in tires or relocating it so cables would reach or anything. They had several tow trucks there that I presume had jump boxes and tools to air up tires? We were treated like garbage, it was appalling. Since the jumper cables were not long enough to reach the battery due to how they parked our vehicle, we had to wait for an employee's truck to leave about 45 minutes later to then maneuver my vehicle to get it close enough to jump. Was then able to also air up tires. I have never been treated so poorly by a company- with their attitudes on the phone, in person and just overall hostile environment. They must get enough business from Tacoma Police Department to not have to care how they treat their customers or want repeat business. I was polite every time I called, I showed up with ample time, paid the fees and stood there patiently and this is the "customer service" I received. I am also sharing my experience with Tacoma Police in hopes they maybe look for a different company that treats people kindly and not like we're a thorn in their side. After all isn't it really the taxpayers footing the bill when vehicles of innocent people are held? We should not be supporting a business like this one. read more

My car was stolen and I immediately reported to the police. I was told by police that when they found it I could come pick it up and not have it impounded. Two days later the police called me saying that my car was found but had already been towed and impounded by Bill's Towing. When I called Bill's the woman on the phone was incredibly unprofessional and rude. Kept making me go on hold and interrupting me constantly. When she asked me what I wanted to do about my car I told her that I wanted to come pick it up from their lot. She told me that I could do that if the car would start but if it can't start that I would have to get it towed out of their lot by another company because Bill's would not do it. She then told me that I would have to pay a whole days holding fee even though I was just notified that my car was even there. She then told me I would have to pay an "after hours" fee since they technically weren't open even though she was there answering the phone. When I started asking about these fees she just straight up hung up on me! I ended up having to pay almost $500 just to get my stolen car back that I didn't even know was running or not once I got there. In person the lady from the phone call was just as rude and her customer service was horrible. I asked her why I was being charged for a whole day holding fee when they just received my car. She then proceeded to tell me that they actually had my car in their lot since the day before at 8am! When I asked why I or the police wasn't notified that my car was there for a whole day already she couldn't give me an answer. They kept my car that was registered as stolen on their lot for a whole day and a half before notifying the police or the owner of the vehicle! I think they just kept it there without telling anyone so that they could charge those extra fees. They left my smashed window open to the weather outside the whole time so now the entire interior of my car is soaked. At least the guy outside was generous enough to jump start the dead battery so I could get it out of there. Almost thought they were going to charge me for that too hahaha. Long story short, if you can avoid it, don't deal with this place or the people that work here. It was insanely unprofessional and they just want to keep your car there as long as possible to rack up your bill! They don't care if you actually get your car back or not as long as they are making as much money off you as possible. If i could give them a zero star rating I would! read more

Bill's towing towed my car from scene after an accident, initially to insurance approved garage. Upon arrival, garage said can't get to car for 2.5 months. Me to Bill's Towing driver: please let me get back with my insurance to find a more suitable garage, I'll be right back. Driver: sure, I'll wait. Me: get on phone with insurance and return 10-12 min later. Driver: gone, taking my car to who knows where and without obtaining any of my information or giving me his details. The employee Mark (tow driver) was the most insulting asshole that I have ever encountered representing a company. He was egregiously rude and completely unprofessional and inconsiderate. Thankfully the owner listened to the phone call between us and the recording and YUP we were "telling the truth about this nasty woman we had to deal with!" My car was stolen and I was supposed to be notified before being towed did not happen, I was out of state when this happened they would not take my credit card over the phone. Long story short my husband and I were hit on the freeway last weekend causing us to crash into the median and end up on top of it totalling our new truck. In effort to clear the freeway the state patrol called Bills Towing to the scene to remove our vehicle, unfortunately! My husband asked the driver if he would take the truck to our home only 3 miles from the scene and the driver agreed! They shook on a rate of $170/hr which totaled $170 my husband was to pay after the driver uloaded our truck at home. He was facing the wrong way on the freeway so had to turn his truck around and said that he would get our address after doing so! Once facing the right way he rolled his window down and yelled, "Go to Bill's" and drove off with our truck in tow! We were appalled! Alreadyvin shock from the horrendous freeway accident the last thing we want is to be lied to and taken advantage of. We called the business immediately only to be treated worse. It is no exaggeration when say thar we received the absolute worst customer service I have ever witnessed! We ended up paying $470 for them to allow AAA(proud members) to tow our totalled truck home. He was polite and swept all the debris from the roadway and took it along with our vehicle. This seems to be the go-to towing company for Washington State Patrol. If you're in an accident and have the mental capacity to deal with it, ask WSP to NOT CALL BILLS TOWING. After my truck was towed they wouldn't even let me use the bathroom at the wrecking yard. I finally pounded on the door where some jerk off waved at me through the glass and I yelled that am their customer and I had to pee really bad. Maybe I'm reading into it, but locked doors all around the building (even the door with the open sign on it)and blatant disregard for the people who own the cars they tow tells me they are avoiding conversation with customers and have had to defend themselves from some pissed off people. So they lock the doors, avoid answering the phone, and just collect cars. Come to find out they had gotten rid of my truck before the insurance company had a chance to assess it. Vultures. They are a joke. There are a hundred other tow companies, Bills towing is close to I-5 and they're fast so I'm sure that's why state patrol uses them, WSP wants to keep the road open ultimately. This company is sleazy. My teen was in an accident and his car was disabled. The cops called a tow and without saying a word the driver hooked up to his car and took it to their two yard. They didn't ask where he wanted the car towed. After accruing impound fees and storage fees along with the two fee I tried to reason with the manager. I was at the Lakewood Wendy's drive thru and Bill's towing Mac truck was a few vehicles behind me. While I was getting my food from the window the tow truck pulled out of line and onto the other side of me. The driver started screaming and cussing at the teenager working the take out window because his rig had been too big for their sensors to trigger their system. We are from out of town and had been told that Lakewood was not the place to be at night but this tow truck driver was by far the scariest part of our evening. I would never call Bill's towing... Anyone giving this place 5 stars is a fraud. I had my 1979 BMW illegally dropped off in my alleyway by Bill's towing just to realize it had been completely totalled by improper tow handling. Torsion bar, steering rack and front and rear end links bent and completely blown out, tires wedged into fenders(unrollable). Front and rear valance body damage, exhaust smashed up, missing turn signal etc. The business is ran by the previous owners little brother John and it's obvious he's not interested in doing his job properly and caring for customers personal belongings. I understand most cars being impounded are going to a scrapyard but some of us still want to save our rides. I spent 1500$ dealing with these crooks just to get my car back smashed up. All I know is that one of their trucks was driving like an absolute maniac on the freeway today and nearly caused an accident. He tailgated me so closely I was legitimately afraid to brake at all, and spent several miles bullying everyone around him. I would never trust these people with my vehicle if this is how they drive! Bill's Towing is the worst customer service provider that I have ever encountered. I felt like I was dealing with thugs that had recently switched from one side of the law to the other. The staff were not only rude, but also lied to us. The staff also lied to our insurance claims agent. The yard attendant bullied me and threatened to call the police and have me arrested when I asked if he would point out where our stolen car was in his lot, through the chain link fence, so that we could tell what condition the car was in. Our insurance claims agent paid extra to have a different towing company come and tow our car to a repair shop because of the staff's behavior. We paid the $240 impound charge to Bill's Towing for retrieving our stolen car from 4 miles away because we had no choice. But if you do have a choice, there are other companies, I am certain, that won't sic the "junk yard dog" on you when you come to pay them for their services. read more

I currently had my old vehicle towed by bills towing. When I went in over the weekend to pick up my belongs and sign the vehicle over not only was I rudely treated I was told that I would have to pay an 80.00 dollar fee ( something that could have been mentioned over the phone before driving in) to retrieve my belongings during off hours. I was also told that if I waited till Monday that I would have exceeded the 5 day time limit to sign my vehicle over in exchange for the storage fees. I reminded the employe that I was allotted within 5 days. Where she then was honest with me and corrected her self and said that I had until 11am on Monday to retrieve my belongings and sign my vehicle over. The following Monday when I did retrieve my things it was clear that someone had gone through my things, and my GPS was missing out of my vehicle while in their care. When I brought this to their attention I was told that it wasn't on the inventory. (so you did break into my vehicle and go through my vehicle!) They then refused to check any surveillance cameras when asked and asked me, "why would only your GPS be missing". Really! I don't know why people steel things, I am not in that buisness.... but what I do know is when my vehicle has been broken into while on the street that everything is taken, the stereo and anything that's not bolted down... and usually a window has been broken. I contacted Bills towing via my road side assistance program. They advised they would be able to assist in 4 HOURS!!! Mind you this is at noon. So I had no choice but to sit in my car. I then contacted them at 5pm and they advised me the wait time would be another 2 hours. The rep I spoke to was very rude and I advised my road side assistance of the delay.
