This crafty type of experience is definitely up my alley even if it's not so for my BF, lol. It was easy enough to schedule and they were very accommodating with the time slots. Upon getting there though, it wasn't as organized or streamlined as I was expecting. The space is very small, cramped and low ceilinged. We went on a Sunday and it was packed with people. I had to ask about the class and wait an extra 6ish min for an instructor even though we arrived at the exact time of our registered class. I did enjoy the class but felt it was more of a demo, then you're on your own instead of step-by-step. Our instructor would jump in if you really needed help. For example, another worker just ended up finishing his bowl but he gave a brave start. It was fun and relaxing choosing paints and then painting but just wish there was more inspo provided or guidance. We were just left to our own devices but wish there could've been templates, example pictures or even stencils to help out less artistically inclined (I'm not speaking of myself, of course, but for kids or anyone who who could use some extra help). Checking out turned out to be an ordeal, and they should majorly redo this process to make it faster and more streamlined. My BF and I waited for more than 15min behind only one other person trying to pay. We also had our voucher gift printed out so not sure why it took the worker about 15min to enter it into the tablet and make it so awkward and complicated. The class came up to about $80 for the 2 of us so it's no chump change and is more expensive than some of the chains like Clayground, etc. They have a tip jar and ask for tips which feels in bad taste since there was virtually no service or even guidance besides the class portion. I can't imagine paying $40 for a clay piece here, painting and designing it myself, grabbing my own supplies, returning supplies, washing brushes, then paying a tip on top of that. One more annoying thing is that the worker told me to check their instagram page to see our pieces get pictured and I diligently reviewed every single post for the entire month and our pieces were never shown... The location is also pretty inconvenient from me. I would recommend a chain/franchised place with cleaner, less clutter, more space and better facilities.

The instructor was patient and helpful, which made the whole process feel really approachable--even for first-timers. A fun surprise was that we got to paint our pieces after they fired them! They moved the process along pretty quickly, and we got to choose our own colors and painting techniques, which made the whole experience feel really personalized. We were told we could pick up our finished pieces in about a week. They also offer other creative options like just painting pre-made pieces or working with glass. There were a variety of painting styles and tools available, and the overall vibe was very welcoming and creative. The service was friendly and accommodating. The only downside was that I noticed a girl who seemed to be in training, and the manager didn't treat her very kindly--there were moments that felt unnecessarily harsh and condescending, which was a little uncomfortable to witness. Overall though, it's a charming studio with a lot to offer for both beginners and returning visitors. I'd definitely go back!

This was not a Yelp event but a SPACES event. I attended on a Friday night with my friend and former roommate. SPACES is a venue located west of downtown Cleveland where works of art are displayed just as you would find in an art gallery but they also have events throughout the year. The show I attended was very different for me and my first time experiencing this type of art form. Some people may find interpretive dance strange but if you come with an open mind then you will enjoy it or at least leave experiencing something different. I will rate my experience 4.5/5. I misread the program pamphlet but I later found out that 2 different artists were performing at the same time so attendees could select who they wanted to watch. I didn't know this at first so I did miss one performance (by an artist named Robert) which is fine. The performances were actually repeated for people who showed up later to the evening (there was a 2 hour window to walk around and watch the performances). It is hard to explain this show but you can take a look at my posted videos for further details. My favourite piece was the woman who performed a movement dance detailing her feelings with the local media. She had newspapers lined up on the floor and at one point started laughing and crying to express her feelings. Many of the other dancers like her had amazing balance, core strength, and flexibility. They were all very talented in their own unique way. Here is the official dance show description - "Six local choreographers converge to create movement poetry in a vivid portrayal of modern art. View original works from diverse perspectives and watch art literally come to life." I recommend visiting SPACES on a weeknight or weekend. It is a fun environment and encourages you to open up your artistic side if you aren't normally inclined to do so. I will definitely have to come back here to explore more of the featured art on the walls. All of the dancers are clearly extremely talented. Some of dancers core strength was amazing. My personal favorite dancer was Robert. His performance was simply beautiful. The facility itself was actually a very great space and it's in a great location in Hingetown which I enjoyed. It's very versatile space and I can see them being able to do plenty of things here. The recent shows (Deck Wreckers, especially) have been pretty interesting, though I'll concede that the general aesthetic point of view seems to fit more with my own than it might with the public at large. I usually see pieces that I would seriously consider buying (sometimes I actually do) from both newcomers and better known artists, and I am glads that Rich and Jeff seems to be working hard to make cool art available to the masses at reasonable prices. They also do custom framing, and I was very impressed with a piece I had them do. Great attention to detail, as well as helpful mounting suggestions, and the prices are about the same or better than the usual places (Pat Catans, Joann, etc.). Their selection of framing materials is stellar, and they are willing and able to do more creative types of framing too.

Community Arts Center is a branch of the Cleveland Museum of Art and houses a gallery with lots of colorful, huge, exciting pieces of art created for and used during the Parade on the Circle! This gallery space is beyond inspiring which upbeat music playing and colors galore. They also have four art rooms decorated with large murals, tables, and art supplies. These rooms are set up with make-and-take art projects that are free to the community and they also offer art classes and events. This was such an amazing find and now I can't wait to bring all my friends here!

By day, the conservatory is vibrant with paper printing and academic program. By night, there was Dress to Impress Fundraiser. I arrived here by night but also want to come back during the day to see the venue's full potential. SPACE: The space is a very simple warehouse-esque location. The space has multiple rooms, storage (presumably for paper), and equipment. During our visit it fully transformed into a wrap around runway and event space with gallery pockets. It was perfectly cozy and engaging. Few parking spots are available, the remainder is street parking in a residential area. EVENT: Dress to Impress event was one of the most creative fashion shows in the city. I've seen a lot of fashion shows. This was one of the better expressions of wearable art. Almost all garments were made out of paper, some from phone books! The show was refreshingly inclusive and celebrated all people. It was beautiful. The event also featured silent auction with event tickets, wearables, and art. It was a lovely occasion with a DJ, small bites, wand paper fashion. The event was good value with various tiers for different guests. It was certainly better priced than some other local fundraisers. SERVICE: I interacted with a few staff members prior to the event and at the event. All were so sweet and genuinely welcoming. The hospitality was just top notch. I felt so very welcome! I would highly recommend attending the next Dress to Impress event to any fashionistas. I can't speak for the classes just know that they offer paper making, printing, book binding, marbling, and more. I plan to keep my eyes on their schedule and attend a workshop next time.
