Wow! Billy's Downtown Diner is true to the hype that it brings. We arrived early afternoon and there was still a 15 min wait-and it was well worth it. The diner is located in downtown Bethlehem and is very cozy inside. I ordered the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict, as it was one of their specials. The lump crab cake was excellent and the poached eggs were cooked to perfection. My mom The Dill-IO Crispy Chicken Sandwich which was really good. The double breaded chicken was cooked perfectly. This place had an interesting menu with unique drinks and dishes. I was a bit disappointed that the peeps coffee didn't come with the marshmallow peep because I mean it was kind of supposed to. I ordered a sort of Mexican beef and jalapeno hash brown mix and it was not good at all. It only came with a few jalapenos and the meat was very poor in flavor and quality. I don't where to begin. Not only did we NOT get what we asked for but everything was cold. We had to ask for utensils when the food finally came out. At this point we were already aggrevated because we kept having to remind the waitress about stuff missing. And instead of just being apologetic she went on to blaming the server "McKensie" for forgetting stuff. Her attitude was disgusting. And when called out on it, we then asked for the manager. Escalating the situatuation she got louder and louder and for some reason she felt it was necessary to tell us she was married to a Puerto Rican. Huh? Not quite sure what her interpretation was to the manager when she went in to get him but he basically came out and made us leave without an explanation. Billy's Downtown Diner is a straightforward spot with good prices and solid choices. The inside is very clean and neat in a smaller--more intimate setting than the average diner. My family and I have been here several times and we are always pleased with the environment, the service, and the food. On this particular outing, we enjoyed two different omelette dishes and the huevos rancheros. Everything was good, came out very quickly, and our server was very nice. FUN FACT: The owner of the diner (Billy, I suppose) is Criss Angel's cousin, and there's a pretty awesome burger on the menu that Mr. Angel designed himself. I had it the first time we dined here and it was pretty stellar! BE ADVISED: There is not a huge amount of seating so if you're coming at a peak hour or with a group you probably want to call ahead to see what the situation is. Additionally, there is no parking lot for the diner, but there is a municipal lot across the street where you can pay for parking as well as metered parking on the streets. read more

One of the more memorable brunch experiences! Post ski out of town group brunch. Savory dishes were better than sweet ones but still the pancakes and French toast were delicious. It's easy to make brunch food boring and forgettable but everything was flavorful and executed just the way we asked. The owners are also wonderful and genuinely caring about their patrons. Haven't been to Billy's in a few years. And wow. Glad I haven't. The pricies have become extravagant for mediocre food. For example paid 17.00 for 2 orange juices, a milk, and a coffee. Ridiculous. I ordered the eggs Benedict. Muffins were hard and I had about a teaspoon of holindaise sauce for both eggs. Too be honest, I would have enjoyed an egg McMuffin rather than eating what I got served, and would have spent A LOT less. The waitress was very pleasant and can't fault her in a bit, but I won't be going back to this place any time soon if ever. Food quality and portions have gone down significantly. To be honest, there are much better places to go in the area that are much more economical and serve much better food for breakfast. Shame on you Billy for allowing this to happen. I came to Bethlehem for a work trip and stopped here for brunch on a Sunday. I liked this so much more than I was expecting! After 12:00pm, it was busy, but not overwhelmingly so and I was able to be seated right away at the counter. The staff here is SO nice - they have a wonderful rapport with each other and with the customers. They treat everyone as though they are a regular. I had multiple servers check in on me and one of them even stopped to talk with me about the book I was reading. I'm from the west coast and I haven't always had the best interactions with people in Pennsylvania, but everyone here was unbelievably kind. The food here is great and the ambiance is totally unpretentious. It's the vibe of an old school coffee shop but an inventive menu more like a hipster/trendy place. I had the sriracha bowl, which is one of their most popular items, especially among the staff. Their cooks are latino and they make legit carnitas! I was skeptical, but it was good. Their huevos rancheros looked really good as well. I'm not a fan of sweet breakfast, but if you are they have some really delectable seeming dishes. I ordered their famous "Greek" coffee - I wish I had asked for it plain as otherwise it is very sweet. Portions here are gigantic and the prices are fair. You can bring the whole family here for sure, it's very much that kind of place. It's also not on Main street, so it feels less crowded than some of the other restaurants. I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting the Lehigh Valley! read more

This reviews kills me, because when I did eat at Billy's the last few times I was here I loved it. I almost never give out 1 star reviews, even if I am not fond of a place I always find something decent and give it the benefit of the doubt and give it at least 2 stars. For me to give out a 1 star review I usually have to completely hate something with no redeeming qualities or I feel strongly about an experience. That being said, when my family went to the Celtic Classic in 2016 and 2017 we ate at Billy's before the parade and we loved it, so even when we skipped 2018 we came back for 2019 and stopped at Billy's. It was packed as usual and we waited 10 minutes to get seated which was fine as it was the estimate. Then thats when things began to go south. We hardly saw our waitress, and the time to get our drinks was nearly 20 minutes in. We ordered the same time we got our drinks at 11 because we knew what we wanted and we found ourselves 45 minutes later with no food. The waitress would stop by and say "it's almost ready" but more time would go by and no food. All the while, we had people that were seated after us and got served their food before us, and some people even coming and going entirely in the meantime. It was busy but it didn't have any lines and people waiting to be seated. At this point we were missing the parade so we tracked down our waitress wanting to the check. By this point it was 50 minutes in. She tried to tell us we've only been waiting 20 minutes and the order went in at 11:30, and it was being plated now. Then when we explained it wasn't the case and others came and went before us she offered to have the drinks on her then she wanted to get the check and have us pay for them. For me personally she was talking fast and I hardly made out what she was saying. In the end though after 5 more minutes and nearly a hour of being here, we went up front to get our check and settle the situation before we left and went to the parade. Like I said before, this review kills me. I LOVED Billy's and was prepared to give it a rave review, but I have to be honest with my experience and what I felt. This was the only time in my 24 years of life I walked out on a place without getting food. It would have been fine if we got things settled and left quietly but trying to tell us that we've only been waiting 20 minutes instead of 45 while telling us "it'll be out soon" a few times and seeing other people come and go before us is what did it in the end. The food was coming out as we were leaving but at that point the rest of my group wanted to leave. We'll never truly know what happened at Billy's yesterday, but what I do know is next year we'll probally try something else. Personally one day I would like to give Billy's another shot, but today its one of the worst experiences I ever had at a restaurant. read more

Food was good, service was just okay. Friendly but not attentive. My biggest complaint is this place was PACKED! In a COVID world I'm surprised they haven't been shut down. Only 3 tables and the barstool area were left open and we were way closer than 6feet to the person next to us. They put up in a corner and filled every table around us. The house was clean and bright with a few small dining areas and a counter in back with seven spinners. Service was efficient and friendly, with coffee freely flowing. I ordered one of their several french toast options. It came covered in berries, and grilled long enough to fully cooked the egg mix and leave caramelized edges. It wasn't real maple syrup, but that would have been too much to ask. It was very good. We also tried the Green Eggs & Ham sandwich. It was zoftig and a solid filling breakfast. Coffee was okay, but not memorable. Billy's is certainly worth a visit if you find yourself in Bethlehem. The city core itself has come a long way in the past decade since, and is likewise a nice destination for a day trip. You know I been wanting to try this place for awhile. Everybody talked great things. I thought it was just mediocre, nothing to brag about. My wife's pregnant so she's not leaving the house during this so I ordered Grubhub. I ordered about 47$ worth of food from here this morning, the snazzy was just ok, was expecting more chocolate drizzle and other toppings on it, the short stack of chocolate chip pancakes had literally 10 chocolate chips laying on top of the pancake. Not even melted in to it. When I think chocolate chip pancakes I think of melted chips all over the pancake. The brioche French toast was good. And the breakfast quesadilla was ok would be better if you could get meat into it. But there was no options for it. I doubt I'll be back. read more

Ohhhh Billy's! I've had many good breakfasts here but it seems that has changed. We came this afternoon and were seated promptly, with a nice view of the pass. I ordered the California Benedict and my fiancé had the Crunch French toast. As we waited for our food we watched our server handle money, butter toast, use the knife she put on my plate to scrape at the pass, rinse her hands and then serve our food. On the first attempt my poached eggs were cooked completely hard. On the second try one was undercooked and the other was over cooked. We also watched a buss boy rinse a towel and use it to wipe tables without sanitizing it. We're both culinary school grads and I cooked professionally the last 10 years. This amazing spot has been on my radar for quite awhile, and today I finally had the chance to get there and I am SO GLAD!! What a wonderful spot! They close at 2pm, we arrived a couple of minutes past 1. We were greeted by a very nice hostess, who told me about 10 minutes for a table for two, so I put our name in and we had a seat outdoors to wait to be called. In no more than 5 minutes, she came out and called us. We were seated at a small, but adequate, 2 person booth. Shortly after being seated, our wonderful waitress, Kristie, brought our menus and took our drink order. We both ordered coffee, and it comes in a nice big mug, and it is excellent! My hubby and I both opted for the classic Eggs Benedict, and they were absolutely excellent. The ham they use is perfect. The home fried potatoes are shaved super thin and now that's the only way I want to eat them! The eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was yummy! Topping everything off was that our waitress was so terrific! She was very nice every time she came to the table, and very attentive to our needs.
