We went there for my husbands birthday on a Facebook recommendation. The hostess was rude. We didn't have reservations but it was 5pm on a Tuesday in August and there were 4 people in the place. I asked for a nice quiet spot telling her it was my husband's birthday. Without so much as a "happy birthday " she said here are the 2 tables I have. Pick one. One was by the kitchen door and 2 more in the middle of the restaurant! You would think they would have some romantic corners for couples since they claim old world italian ambiance. The waitress was very pleasant but also not even a happy birthday greeting. Our food was ok. Nothing special. We took most of it home. Thought they would serve warm bread but no, cold. Food is comparable to Marie Callender's dinners warmed up but without the Marie Callender's price tag. Very expensive for what you are getting. Red sauce and Alfredo sauce taste like it's warmed up right out of a can or jar from Walmart. If you go here due to lack of options, split an entree, the portions are big enough for that and the kitchen will split your dinner for you into two plates which was nice. Service was fine. Ambience was fine. But if I find myself in the area again I would definitely not return and would try any other establishment. read more

We need to eat in Old Forge and I heard good things about Billy's. We did not have a recommendation but we came at the perfect time and were able to be seated almost instantly. I do recommend making a reservation if you come here as the dining room was packed during our visit and it is a small seating area. Service was great. The server was helpful and answered any questions we had about menu items. We had an appetizer of lobster ravioli. Loved this dish. Delicious creamy sauce. Meals came with garden salads, fresh ingredients. Our entrees were huge! We could have shared them. I wish we had a way to save the leftovers but we did not due to our camping set up. Was lucky enough to get reservations this past Friday for the 7:00 pm seating. The restaurant is quaint and the food is delicious. If you are familiar with Frankie's Taste of Italy, Billy's is in Frankie's previous location behind Walt's Diner in the Fern's Complex. Billy's is what Frankie's used to be - a good restaurant with nice ambiance, friendly waitstaff and reasonable prices. One of the store owners recommended we go to Billy's and I am glad she did! It was tucked off of the main road behind Walt's so I probably wouldn't have found it is someone hadn't told me. It was cute and cozy, I loved the patterns on the wall made from corks. Our servers was very nice and attentive. I think she ended up filling our water glasses about 6 times. They had a really nice homemade balsamic dressing in the tale and we got a loaf of fresh baked warm bread with our salad which was delicious. I got chicken parmigiano and my boyfriend got veal parmigiano. We ended the night with hot chocolate lava cake. Everything was so good and an excellent value for what we paid. Plus one of the best parts is the owner was around all night, checking on tables and thanking people for coming in. And he helped his servers out. This restaurant was excellent. We went in on Halloween and the staff was dressed up and very friendly. As far as the food the fresh warm bread was a nice touch. I had hats a la broccoli with chicken and it was amazing. My husband had one of the specials which he also said was great. To end the meal we split a chocolate lava cake which was warm and perfect. We went to Billy's on the recommendation of friends and one of my customers. Was not impressed whatsoever. I ordered ziti with sauce and a meatball. The sauce was like water, very thin ,it didn't even stick to the pasta whatsoever. The meatball was small like something would buy in a grocery store and reheat.. the ziti was good. I had a salad that was awfully small for an Italian restaurant and there wasn't much to it and they only offered blue cheese crumbly and their own vinaigrette. The bread crust was hard as a rock and wasn't warm. My son had chicken parm which was very small pieces and hardly any pasta under it. Now if you know a good Italian restaurant you know they don't serve it that way. They were turning people away at the door because the place is so small and people we're told 2 hours? I would have recommended them to go to Frankie's down the road it certainly is a far cry more real Italian than here. I just don't understand the people's obsession thinking this place is so wonderful in the reviews, it was nothing like they talked about. Maybe there's another Billy's in Old Forge and I was at the wrong one? One other thing that was very disappointing is that they do not take American Express? but I pay a large membership fee too own that card. I don't understand the thinking in this age and technology.. it should certainly be a convenience for the customer especially traveler's. Always love coming here. For those that know the local scene, the story of Billys is a bit "scandalous" if you ask me. Nonetheless, the food is always excellent. Lobster ravioli appetizer is clean, well constructed, and tasty (especially in the garlic cream sauce). The house bread and salad dressing are bomb. For those that like vinegar dressings, youre blessed here. Chicken Mama Mia entree is awesome for those looking for a good "taste of the place." The house red sauce makes everything taste good, and goes well with the cheese blend they use. Billy himself is a pleasant guy with a positive attitude. You will certainly enjoy your meal!!! Would have considered 5 stars if the bathrooms werent as weird...the small/unclean space is a bit wiggy for me. Also, the Chicken Mama Mia was a bit mushy. Just ate here on Friday night. The level of service at this establishment stands above the rest in the region. Warm fresh bread is served with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The basic dinner salad was so-so, but eh whatever-I'm not a big salad guy. The food is great though. I had a chicken pesto pasta special that was phenomenal and huge! You won't leave this place hungry. The waitress then came by with a dessert plate, full of cakes and cannolis which are really hard to pass up. Walked in on Sunday at 4:30pm. We waited 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged. I assume the guy that met us at the door was the same rude individual referenced in other reviews....presumably the owner. We were a party of two. There were a few tables available along with some seating in the small bar area in the front. When we asked for a table, he said 'Try coming back around 7pm....' WTH!?! I went in with my grandson and after several minutes was asked if we wanted to be seated, I said yes for two, please. The response was just the two of you I said yes. I saw they had a table for two and figured we would be sitting there. After 15 minutes, still not seated I asked how much longer and the response was oh wait a minute. I then said I see a table over there that is just for two, how about that one. Several minutes later they came over and said we could be seated there. So we sat down got our menus and that was the last time I saw anyone for 1/2 hour at which point it was me and my grandson who got the attention of a server and said we were leaving. We have a vacation rental in OF and I have never recommended this place to people who stay, especially people with kids, after our experience. Apparently, they do not like kids. We went to Frankie's and there I had the best Veal Parm I have ever had. So the kids and I love going to the Old Mill, Frankie's, Slickers, Walts, The Front and Back Door and Five Corners. I love the newly named Misters and they are open in winter now! There are plenty of other great restaurants in Old Forge that you can stay away from Billy's. read more
