Friendly service and yummy food- who could ask for more? This cozy spot was perfect for breakfast recently and while cross contamination could be an issue, they do offer gluten free toast which was greatly appreciated!

Great service in a rustic looking establishment. Service was spot on and the omelette tasted good. Canned mushrooms though.

Great friendly service with a good tasting mushroom omelette. Reasonably priced with a rustic style eatery.

Was in Old Forge for a mural job and needed some breakfast before starting. Front Door Diner looked like a nice spot to stop! We were in "painting clothes" and don't look like the typical, wealthy, privileged doctor type summering in ADK, so maybe we looked like the help - I dunno. Because we didn't receive a very warm welcome or good customer service. I asked if takeout was available, was told yes, so we looked at a menu. Once we decided what we wanted, I had to search for someone to tell because no one was checking in with us, no one said "let us know when you're ready"; we were essentially being ignored. "Hi, excuse me, where can we place an order for takeout?"I asked. "Umm...(looks at girl next to her) do you want to take this?" Never responded to me, never said "Sure! Let me find out for ya," or anything like that. I find that to be kind of rude. The vibe felt like they were either confused or annoyed that we wanted to order takeout. None of the younger women working there were overly friendly. Giving three stars because the food wasn't BAD, just nothing to write home about and the portions were small for the price. I opened my container and the tiny portion of home fries felt like someone was pranking me. The hollandaise on my Benny was separated, the breakfast burrito was small and kind of pitiful looking, but again, didn't taste bad. It's 2022; if businesses don't care about basic customer service, making people feel welcome, etc, especially with the cost of dining out, I'll happily spend my money elsewhere. I'm 1,000% more likely to return to a place when I felt the staff was personable, welcoming, and helpful. And this diner simply wasn't that.

menu had a nice selection, reasonable prices and a decent variety for a diner. servers were very attentive. will probably stop back next time i'm around this area and try something more adventurous, but the chicken tenders were cooked well and the fries were nicely seasoned.

French Toast with strawberries. We expected whipped topping on them. That would have offset the lack of fresh strawberries.

There is a counter to the left as you come in, followed by an unattractive cooler case with signs on it. In between is a bakery case that is small but had a nice selection when I was there. I ordered a cup of decaf and a small chocolate almond cupcake, for a price of $8. I declined the plastic box and sat down with the cupcake in an upholstered chair opposite the counter. I thought my coffee would be right up but it took many minutes. I almost left. The cupcake was small but good (fluffy cake, sugary frosting). Then I noticed the sign that said everything was gluten and dairy-free. Surprise! When the coffee was ready, the cream was put in for me. I guess it was nondairy. The coffee was warm like a keurig makes. I had noticed Lunch menus in a wall pocket and Brunch menus behind the counter. So this place is actually full restaurant for people with gluten and dairy allergies. The lunches all seemed to cost ~$18 and seemed inventive. Fries were available as a specialty. There were a lot of tables in the long, cool, dark room. It seemed like a decent place to have an undisturbed meal while talking with friends.

The food was absolutely phenomenal! While not from the area I always love finding gems in new…read moreplaces, this is one of them!
