The owner had a great attitude and was super patient with our large, kid-filled group. The food was great, chicken parmigianna was delicious!

Went out for a special birthday dinner with guests. My guests all had the prime rib special and I had the chicken parmigiana with side spaghetti (fancier Italian name on the menu). There were 2 orders for medium prime rib and one for rare. All were served as ordered. My parmigiana was un-remarkable and somewhat over sauced. Presentation was sub par. Freshly grated Parmesan and ground pepper was offered. I don't think the Parmesan was really Parmesan, certainly not a Reggiano. Cocktails served beforehand and were made with common bar mix, nothing special. All in all an ok meal, with friendly and attentive service. Probably the best the area has to offer but rated against similar restaurants in Toronto and Ottawa would pale in comparison.

Came here for my aunts birthday today. I had the beef tenderloin In a pepercorn sauce a beautiful thing. My aunt and veal dish that was flavorful and delicate. The vegetables were nicely alDente and potatoes were perfectly roasted. Service was great anticipated our every need before we even knew ourselves. If you're in Brockville you have to try the mill probably the best restaurant in 100 km

I always have a great meal with excellent service. I usually sit in the back room which is a little more cozy.

Unfortunately,…read morewe couldn't sit outside because of the rain, but our table inside still offered a great view of the water. The restaurant wasn't crowded, but there were enough guests to give it a nice atmosphere. It felt comfortable, relaxed, and not noisy at all. We started with the Kung Pao Cauliflower, which was excellent. Even my kids, who don't usually enjoy vegetables, ate every bite. For their meals, both kids ordered brick oven pizzas. My older child had the Labrador and finished the entire pizza by himself, while my younger child ordered the Authentic with pepperoni and really enjoyed it. My wife ordered the fish of the day, and I chose the scallop special. Overall, the food was very good, the service was pleasant, and the waterfront setting made for an enjoyable dining experience. I would definitely return the next time I'm in the area.

My wife and I came up to this neck of the woods while visiting family and had a great meal here…read more The location is beautifully located on the water (unfortunately our visit was more gray and gloomy outside). All of the staff we interacted with were great and friendly. Our family from this area raved about their poutine, but a recent menu change got rid of it. Despite that they had a variety of starters/apps, sandwiches, pizzas, steaks, plus other entrees including some specials on a separate little menu. Included on that was two cocktails that we tried, I had two of their Strawberry Rhubarb Collins that was light and easy to drink with just enough strawberry and rhubarb flavor. My wife had their special sangria which had tons of flavor. Both fantastic drinks! As a group we split some pretzel sticks as well as some bang bang shrimp. With both being great bites before our meals with the beer cheese and mustard for the pretzels along with the shrimp sweet chili aioli being perfect dips. Lastly for the main event my wife and I were on the same wavelength and got their Vodka Chicken Parm, that originally was to come on top rice pilaf but both substituted for house made pasta. Everything from the vodka sauce, to the house made pasta, to the chicken were fantastic! Would gladly get it again. If we lived around here I would picture this being a regular stop for us! Friendly and welcoming staff with well made drinks and delicious food! Give it a try!

The contrast of lighting doesn't show this well, but we had an "interior" table tucked well back but still had a great river/lake/flow view.

There was a separate bar and dining area for folks to chooses from. I opted for the dining area, I was alone and it took a while to be seated because they didn't want to seat me at an empty table in the middle of the dining room. When seated I was a table on the edge. The space looked accustomed for larger groups and had many large and small parties. The light in the space was a bit low in comparison to the bright sun outside coming through the windows. My server was very attentive and I was quickly able to order. The home made loaf of italian bread came out warm and was light and fluffy. I ordered the Utica Greens and Shrimp Riggies. While I enjoyed I had expected there to be a bit of heat in each dish which they didn't have. i ended up adding red pepper flakes to both to get it to my liking.

Rounding up from 2.5 stars to 3.0 stars…read more I really found the service here nice because the staff were very nice but the pizza was really cold when we got it and I think that it was just sitting in the back when we came to take out our food. I also think the way the restaurant handled the situation was appropriate because they offered us free pizza as compensation for the cold pizza and that is why I am rounding this up and giving a higher review. I also personally found the tables and the restaurant reasonably clean. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice because it was a diner style and it made the restaurant feel very peaceful. I also found the price of the pizza was fair and it was reasonable. I personally believe the staff will take this review as an opportunity to improve the areas that were stated in this review.

Came here as I was recommended its pizza. Ordered a small hamburger pizza (ground beef x cheese)…read moreand small mushroom pizza (mushroom x cheese). Lots of cheese, thicker bread, 10 inches each, 8 slices per pizza so that's a total of 16 slices for 3 people. It was bigger than I expected, which is good. That's 5 slices per person with an extra to spare. I wish they weren't so skimpy with the toppings, felt like I was eating cheese pizza, didn't see many mushrooms and ground beef. My issue with the place is service. The waitress that seated us was very nice, wish we had her. The one we got was short with us the whole time. Took drink order but turned around so quickly without giving us a chance to order food/ask questions about food. I don't understand why servers do that. It's not considerate. Did you consider asking us if we're ready to order or need a few minutes? Also, she gave us a dirty plate with old pizza still stuck to the middle of it. How can you give that to me? Asked her for a new plate and didn't even mention the problem with the plate and she came back with "Why do you need an extra plate?" As if we couldn't have an extra plate if we just wanted an extra one. We "need" an extra plate because you failed to provide us with a clean one. She apologized and gave us a new one. The drink did come out quickly and she did check on us twice, once to ask how the pizza was and near the end if we wanted anything else. Then she asked if we're sure. What kind of question is that? Then gave us the bill without us asking for it, it wasn't even near closing yet. If she needed to close off, she could tell us that. And the kicker was she never came back to take payment. Flagged down another waitress who let us know it's pay at cash, we told her that our waitress never told us that. She said they usually do and it says it on the bottom of the receipt. Well yes, amongst several other things on the bottom. Just because it's written there doesn't mean we are expected to notice that. Circle it then or make it a point to let us know. If we let you know we're unhappy about that, I think the restaurant should own up to it rather than defend. I'm usually not very picky with service but it really irked me. Probably won't come again. I'd recommend this place for takeout pizza.

Everything was excellent, from the elevated service, to the decor, to the music, to the cozy and elegant ambiance....and the food blew us all away! You don't always expect to be full when you leave a nicer restaurant, but Riva was an exception- the portions were generous. The sourdough was delectable, the caprese ingredients were fresh and colorful, and my pasta was hearty and full of vegetables. The chicken breast I ordered to go with my pasta was moist, but bland- perhaps blackening it or simply adding more seasoning would help. My husband's pizza was sooo garlicky (in the best way possible!), and the crust was an ideal texture and chewiness. My mother in law ordered the fish of the day, which was salmon with a mint cauliflower puree and asparagus- it was delectable! My father in law ordered the spaghetti aglio e olio and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were so satisfied when we left, but wish we had left some room to sample their desserts. If/when we return to the area, we will most certainly be visiting Riva again!
