Good decor and service. The restaurant was loud due to sound bouncing off the walls, floors, and ceiling. Barrows in Roanoke sells very stylish acoustic treatment which would quiet the interior. Do not order the prime rib cooked medium. For $45, I expected a very tender cut of beef. This was the absolute, toughest beef of any cut I had ever eaten, and required sawing though it with the steak knife. The waitress offered a choice of mushroom sauce or lobster sauce with the prime rib, so we assumed it was included in the $45 cost. When we got the bill, we discovered my mushroom sauce was $10 extra, and my guest's lobster sauce was $17. My other guest ordered bacon wrapped scallops which was OK, but the spicy crab corn chowder was poorly prepared with pulverized, almost pureed crab and of course, over priced. The deserts were very good but also overpriced. Doubtful we will return to Billy's. read more

We went there for crab cakes. They were out of crab cakes. Ordered the trout. While the portion was large, the taste was bland. My friend order the bacon wrapped scallops. $18 for THREE scallops as an appetizer. Nice atmosphere but definitely costly. I don't think the taste of the food supports the menu prices. read more

Overall I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone driving through the area or to anyone nearby. I will start off with the only minor negative for this review preventing it from being a 5. I ordered the Salmon with asparagus and risotto and while the the flavors were great, my salmon was somewhat dry. However, the lamb and scallop appetizers were fantastic! The service was also delightful. Our waitress was very kind and provided us a great recommendation for a bottle of wine. If I were you I would come thirsty to Billy's as their wine list is fantastic. Finally, I recommend that you realize this will be a pricey bill but it is a great place for a nice dinner with family of a loved one! read more

The weather was great and the little outdoor patio is really nice. They have a large selection of wines. We made a reservation and were seated as we walked in. Our dinner was very good and dessert was even better. Turns out one of the bar tenders also makes a GREAT apple pie. A memorable part of our dinner was the excellent service provided by Sonny. She treated us like we were visiting her home and she wanted us to have a wonderful visit, making sure we had plenty of what we liked and suggesting things we might like to try. We came in as a party of 9 and were sat right away which was a definite star. The whole process between getting side salads, bread, and our actual meal took forever. Literally waited an hour before our meal was actually delivered. The worst part was we were celebrating my moms birthday and unfortunately going to her dads funeral tomorrow. So where the waiter lost a star was communicating there was a larger party than ours that they were serving and taking up time in the back.(we learned this from a waiter telling another story table) now our waiter did make up for it with an extra piece of chocolate cake for my mom. Extremely slow service, thought our server was high. It took 20 minutes to give us waters and then he ran away. Another 10 before we got drinks, a flat Coke (which he shrugged his shoulders at) and a terrible bloody Mary. Food was boring at best. I dined here with my two year old on a Thursday evening. I was greeted by a very young gentleman in a tuxedo, pretty obvious right off the bat that we were underdressed in jeans. I could also tell children weren't really a standard they were into. Nonetheless, he was polite and quickly sat us in the back by the outdoor patio area. The service was slow to greet the table and my suspicion about accommodating children was confirmed when he brought water to the table and quickly asked if it needed to be in a kid's cup. I also had to ask him for a kids menu. Not a problem, he remedied that with milk and a lidded cup and a menu. After waiting several more minutes he came to take our order, I ordered the Tuna Wontons for an appetizer. He also took my dinner order at this time, which made me feel rushed but I ordered the Goat cheese salad and added Tuna to keep on theme. I ordered for my daughter from the kids menu, chicken and broccoli. There was a bit of time to kill so i gave my daughter my phone to keep her busy with videos. A young lady from the host stand brought over a lollipop for my daughter, it was very nice and made me feel a bit more welcome. Appetizer finally came. The tuna was prepared perfectly for the wontons, there was just the right kick in the salsa and paired perfectly. I do wish the tuna had been cut a bit more to spread out over the large wonton, but I broke it up on my own. I also enjoyed the small amount of seaweed under. It was a nice touch. The salad and chicken came after a while. The salad was good, the dressing was sweet and paired really well with the goat cheese. I do wish there was a bit more of the toasted bread for all that cheese. The tuna was prepared just as well as before and a generous portion too! The chicken tenders were a bit crunchy but she made it through a few and a huge helping of broccoli that she barely put a dent into despite her eating a ton of it. The prices and menu were comparable to other restaurants in the area. I would return to try a steak and maybe not have a toddler in tow, and possibly wearing a nicer outfit. After 45 minutes waiting for our food, (tacos and a fish sandwich) we asked for a manager. He advised there was a party of 35 upstairs and that group had them backed up. If the party caused staffing issues either they needed more help or they should have advised us BEFORE we ordered that we would have a delay. Then we never saw the manager or waitress again until we received our check. No offer of "how about a free dessert for your trouble" or even a discount on the check. Very disappointed. read more

We were visiting Roanoke for the Blue Ridge Marathon. We decided the three of us would visit Billy's to get a great steak. Our order was a filet meal (medium rare), New York strip, and I ordered a salad and their pork belly appetizer. The filet was cooked rare at best. It had a great flavor but needed to be cooked a little longer. Both the other meals were cooked great and tasted great. Being they are a steakhouse you would think they could have cooked their best price of meat right the first time. I don't think they were ready to serve people as we were one of the first tables there for the evening and the staff was slower to serve us. They also didn't have bread ready until almost the end of our meal. Out server switched off at some point. The first server must have been at the end of their shift. I have eaten at some upscale steakhouses and this was not. The prices did not match the service we received. I would recommend going to a chain steakhouse before directing them to Billy's. read more

Made reservations for 6 2 weeks in advance, showed up 30 min early and sat at the bar. Great drink selection and helpful service. Our party came early and we were able to be seated sooner. Place was a bit quiet at first but was packed later in the evening (glad I made a reservation). Our waitress Becca made great recommendations. I went for the prime rib. OMG it was delicious. Along with cocktails and desert. I had the flourless torte very rich (in a good way) but the table favorite was the Lemon cello. Enjoyed a wonderful lunch with Hubby, our first time at Billy's. Five stars for server Caleb! So sweet, warm, and professional. Also the gentleman who seated us was very friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant. Five stars for Hubby's All American burger and fries. A generous 4 stars for my Southwest Burger -- honestly everything about it was small -- the patty, the bun -- would love to give 5 stars but a burger needs to be substantial and hefty when picked up.
