I've been eating at Billy's Time Out Deli for years, and the food has always been consistently great. The steak in a sack is one of my favorites, and I've never had a bad meal here. The staff is friendly, and it's a place I've enjoyed coming back to for a long time. My only criticism is that the prices seem a little high these days. On my last visit, I paid about $30 including tip for a steak in a sack, while my fiancée got a cheeseburger with fries and a bottled drink. Good solid neighborhood spot! Gets busy and they will get you in and out. Everyone goes there for their burgers and their lunch menu however, I ordered the Philly and it was solid! Much better than any of the other chain sandwich spots around! read more

Local Deli that should not be missed! Owners work it! A busy lunch place even with a 3:00 lunch date. Menu on the wall... Oder when you enter get a number and go sit in the quaint booths. I'm going to go ahead and say this place is okay. I went between 3 and 4 stars but something that always brings down a place in my reviews is their heavy use of styrofoam. I'm not into that at all. My sandwich on the dark roll was fine. I got the larger sized one. It had plenty of filling for the price but it was pretty bland in taste. I'm not sure I would order it again. The three things I really enjoyed at this place was the friendly service, the drink selection available from the full coolers, and the fried mushrooms. If your looking for a whole in a wall but with great sandwiches this is the place to go. I got the club and it was soooo good. I could not eat the whole thing so I packed it up and ate the rest for dinner. I hate going to places and ordering a sandwich and there is barely any meat. At this place not a worry, the amount of meat and condiments veggies etc was perfect. I love that you can pick up and go or sit down. Did I mention the fries so good! They were made fresh to order and perfectly cooked. My daughter orders the burger and she said mommy it taste like a burger should. You can tell the meat is fresh and processed like some places! What a cool local deli. Located in OR in a strip mall spot you may miss if you blink a second too long. Closed on Saturday and Sunday and only open until 7 on weekdays, we are happy to have finally made it here before close! The shop is a small operation with fast and friendly service. We ordered: -Cheeseburger w/bacon: People rave about the burgers. The patty was fairly thick and well-seasoned. However, you must like the fattier ground beef that has more of a sausage-like, chewy texture to enjoy one of these burgers. The bacon was a crisp and flavorful addition. The sesame bun was awesome! -Small meatball sub: This was our family favorite, surprisingly. Such a tender ball of explosive flavor! The sauce was good, cheese kept it all together, and the bread amazingly soft and chewy. -Small steak & cheese sub: The bread was, again, the best part. The steak is not thin and chopped super thin like a cheesesteak, as an FYI. -Large fry: Hot and fresh. However, we thought these would be crinkle-cut like in the photos and reviews, but they were thin steak fries that had no seasoning/salt whatsoever. Perhaps this is why they send salt and pepper packets in the bags? Large size was very big and would likely be shareable for 2-3 people (at least). The small sandwiches were sizeable and definitely shareable if you want to try a few different sandwiches. They were already cut in half. We will be back again to get another meatball sub and try the Italian and steak in a sack. Not on the menu, but we hear they have onion rings, which we'd like to give a go! read more

Awesome hole in the wall style diner. Great food and awesome portion sizes for what you're paying for. Recently moved to Oak Ridge. Seems to be dominated by chain restaurants, which is a bit of a frustration since I like to support locals wherever I go. Based on reviews, gave Billy's a go. The cheese burger was very good. Good sized patty that tasted like beef (nice change from fast food chains) and fresh fixings. The crinkle cut fries were fine - thumbs up for being very crispy. I also tried the baklava for a change of pace. Really nice. Could actually taste the honey. Glad to have found a local spot in Oak Ridge. Will put in my rotation. Now to find more local spots. read more

This little jewel is a hole in the wall place between the gas station and liquor store that could be overlooked if you didn't know it was there but once u take a peek inside and taste the awesomeness of their food and service, you will certainly know that u have indeed discovered a treasure trove of good food!! I ordered the ham and cheese on pumpernickel bread--. A hearty heaping of ham, ooey gooey cheese, fresh tomato and a bed of crunchy lettuce, an overload of steamed deliciousness! Great little burger and dog joint!! This place has some of the most legit Coney Chili that I have found in East TN. The burgers are done to order and NOT frozen patties either. This is a joint for regulars, it would take several visits to form a fair opinion but from the single sandwich visit I can say this place is excellent for Oak Ridge TN. I had an idea what I wanted before I got here but with a menu board and little time to choose I went with my preconceive choice cored beef Swiss cole slaw on pumpernickel with 1000 island dressing and minus the slaw that's what I got. It's business as usual deli here not too many special sandwiches and no home made salads. It's not bad but lack luster in my opinion since I visit so many extraordinary joints. Don't take this review as negative this place suits a cold cut deli sandwich need in this town. Locals flock here that has to say a lot. I would come back if I need a lunch sandwich but there are a few more places to try in town. read more

Such a beautiful place. So many good ole buys with Copenhagen circles I. Their work shirts. Yep work. What we were created to do. All shapes and sizes in this place. Mostly super sized. Reminds me of Tony's hotdogs in Pelham Alabama. Strip mall rent means lower rent. Food hear is amazing. I hit the Oak Ridge area around 10:45 and was famished. My typical breakfast of 2 eggs over easy, an avocado and a banana had already run their course. I did eat a little earlier than usual, so perhaps that explains my hunger pangs. I've got some personal quarks, or mantras if you will, when it comes to food. Here are a few: 1) I never eat lunch before 11am. Whether I had breakfast at 4:30 before a west coast bound flight or I had biscuits and gravy at 9:15 after a night of indulging, I never eat lunch before 11. 2) I never eat lunch after 2. At that point, I'm like "Eff it, I'm waiting til dinner". 3) I never eat dinner before 5pm. Again, no rhyme or reason, but I am still young enough to avoid the 4pm early bird blue hairs that frequent establishments looking to save $.23 on a TBone steak. 4) Its never too early to drink a beer. Completely off topic, but there ya go. If you reference rule number 1, I was in a predicament today. I pulled in to the restaurant before the official lunching hour, but as fate had it, there is a gas station out front, and I was on -E. I tried to get gas but they didn't take my corporate fleet card. WTF? Now I have to be THAT guy and hang out like a perv in my car. I acted like I was doing something, anything, when in reality, I wasn't, just to pass the time. I acted like I was on the phone. I acted like I was fired up by slapping the steering wheel a couple of times. I feigned sleep. I played the drums with a pen and pencil on the dashboard. I feigned sleep. Finally, 11 arrived and I was allowed to enter the establishment. Looks like an old school pizzeria mixed with an old school pharmacy on the inside. Tables and chairs scattered about with mismatched everything. Not a concern. The menu is relatively simple, and CHEAP! I order the large Reuben and the large turkey sandwich. Each creation was around 7-8" length, so not a 6", not a footlong. I guess one would term this a quarter yard? Both were delicious and fresh. The pumpernickel bread was so soft and chewy. Store bought, but well preserved. I was able to finish all but half of the 8" of turkey sandwich, so I took my 1/8 meter sandwich to go. Loved the food and the people were very nice. read more
