Butter chicken, chicken korna, lamb curry, so good!

A gem in Cozumel. Beautifully authentic Indian food. A multitude of excellent offerings from vegetarian, chicken, seafood, and lamb. Excellent service and superbly tasting food. You will not be disappointed with Bindiya.

The owner was so kind and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time. We're already looking forward to going back in March, and yes, my crazy self called two months in advance to make sure I got the time I wanted. Highly, highly recommend. A true gem and such a unique dining experience in Cozumel.

Cozumel in late September isn't a postcard. It's humid, a little sticky, the kind of weather that…read moremakes you earn your dinner. The restaurant is open-air, the kind of place where fans work overtime and the heat is part of the atmosphere. If you're here for polished white-tablecloth perfection, you're missing the point. This is the kind of place where the food matters, and the people making it matter even more. We started with a margarita -- simple, clean, lime-driven, the way it should be. Then a surprise: a Mexican Chardonnay that was more than just a curiosity. It was bright, elegant, and held its own against what was about to come. The tuna tataki arrived like a quiet promise -- fresh, barely kissed by flame, layered with tomatoes and herbs that tasted like they'd been picked that morning. Then came the pasta. Not just pasta -- house-made, hand-cut strands with that chew you can only get when someone's sweating in the back rolling it out. One plate loaded with clams, briny and delicate, another brimming with mussels, shrimp, tomatoes -- a proper frutti di mare. This was Italian soul filtered through the Caribbean, kissed with garlic and oil, but unmistakably crafted with care. And then dessert. A cacao chocolate cake so rich, so unapologetically decadent, it silenced the table for a moment. This is the kind of cake you remember -- layered, moist, dark, a reminder that pastry is art when it's done right. But food is only part of the story. Joel, our waiter, was the other. A young man brimming with passion, the kind of person who doesn't just serve you but lets you glimpse the beating heart of the restaurant. His pride, his storytelling, his quiet attentiveness -- it elevated the night from a meal to an experience. Would I go back? In a heartbeat. Not because it's fancy, not because it's perfect, but because it's real. Real food, real people, real sweat. And in the end, that's what matters.

They have a couple of great regional Yucatan dishes here, like the Molcajete and the Cochinita. San Miguel de Cozumel is admittedly not the most beautiful or interesting Mexican city to do touristy stuff in, so it was a treat to find some great regional cuisine to try. I was with a group, so we ordered the Molcajete (basically, mixed grilled meats in a stew), ceviche, and cochinita (stewed pulled pork), along with tortillas. All of it was great. The sauces, from the salsa to the stew broths to the ceviche sauce, were all terrific. There was mention that they dishes were spicy, but in the end, none of the stuff was super-spicy. Furthermore, the spicy stuff was often a salsa served on the side, or a whole roasted pepper that wasn't integrated into the dish, so you could calibrate your spiciness to your taste. Bathrooms: Basic, but clean and functional.

The Spicy passion fruit Margaritas were Amazing! We only had one day in Cozumel since we were coming from a cruise ship and it was raining that day. So we got off the beaten path and enjoyed the food and drinks at this restaurant. It was only $2.50 pp to take a taxi from the cruise port. Be sure to negotiate your taxi fare. The music was good too and nobody seemed to mind that I got up to dance for a few minutes! Overall the experience was amazing! I definitely recommend the fajitas and the guacamole appetizers and the drinks!

Real vegetarian entrees made by people who understand how good food is that features fresh, locally sourced ingredients! Pay no attention to the one previous bad review. The owner was so kind and welcoming. When I didn't care for my first smoothie, which she suggested might be off putting to my US palette, she watched me try to drink it. Then she comped me the smoothie my daughter had chosen made with strawberries, coconut milk and mango--no added sugar, brought in a mason jar mug. I was very happy to be so graciously welcomed. The owner speaks great idiomatic English and basically said she would be happy to make us whatever we wanted. I asked for a plain salad with lettuce, tomato, and avocado and that's just what we got, with a tangy balsamic vinaigrette. Then I had the home made enchiladas stuffed with potatoes and cheese, absolutely delicious by any standard. We very much enjoyed sitting in the back garden sipping our smoothies and munching on complimentary chips and salsa. Likely we will return before our week in Cozumel ends. second night here! I had a delicious lunch of the chicken tikka appetizer (tender white breast meat), onion nan, raita, and the included a little shredded dressed salad with creamy light dressing, and selection of tasty classic chutneys / sauces (tamarind, green, etc) A tiny nest of spun sugar on the plate was an unexpected high end touch. I also had a yummy chai and dessert. The tiny, intensely sweet galub jamun (like a dense deep fried donut ball soaked in syrup) was yummy, though lacking in the rose scent I typically associate with the dish... though that will probably make it more appealing to the island clientele who probably aren't used to floral flavors. Their tandoori oven is not to be taken lightly, as they're important for cuisine beyond curries. They are hard to come by and shipped circuitously from India. Directions: Go about 5 blocks south of the ferry plaza along the main seaside road Av Raphael E Melgar. Turn left onto Calle 7 sur, and go about 1/2 block from the sea. It's on your left. It's a bit hard to spot because the main sign doesn't face the sidewalk, though you can see the white tiled little plaza it's on, that houses 3 restaurants and a bathroom. They are to the right of a large established Mexican seafood restaurant and share the plaza with a tiny street facing liquor store.
