Walk a couple of blocks off the main road and be rewarded. Yes, they have American favorites but what the heck, you're in Mexico. The Mexican platter is delicious and a great bargain for about $10 and includes coffee. Service is pleasant in English or Spanish,

We had breakfast at Amparo's. The staff is great and very welcoming. The place is clean. We ordered some enfrijoladas and huevos Motuleños. They were delicious! This is a great place if you're looking for authentic food. I highly recommend it.

Everyone loved their dish here and I loved mine the most. What I got might surprise you. Ready? Don't judge. Hear me out here. Best club sandwich I've ever had. YOU ORDERED A CLUB SANDWICH IN MEXICO? You're goddamn right I did. Wasn't aware it was a crime but if it was SEND ME TO JAIL BECAUSE SWEET BABY JESUS IT WAS GOOD. What a perfect way to start a long day of swimming and exploring. The cheese was melty and to die for, the meat tasted fresh and the bread delivered a trip to flavortown that would make Guy blush. I also had a smoothie which let me tell you, was the perfect addition to my meal. Service is as it is anywhere else on island, a little slow but kind and exact. Enjoy it- you're on island time baby.

Cutest family owned breakfast place. Food is great and prices are also great!! The staff are extremely welcoming

Coffee is very unique nothing compared to anything else. Chorizo beans are very tasty.

This was a awesome find for a great breakfast. Hopped off our cruise ship and after a 20-30min walk, we finally found this place. It's small, but clean and nice. Maybe 6-7 small tables with A/C. They serve some complimentary bread/toasts with three sauces: strawberry, chocolate coffee, pineapple mango; all were flavorful. My wife and I split the Huevos Motelenas - it was an awesome combo of flavors. Pretty cheap. I highly recommend this place. Next time I'll try one of their skillets.

We enjoyed our breakfast at Amparo's. We ordered the Huevos Rancheros and a Mexican Skillet for food as well as a Moka coffee and regular American coffee. Both were delicious with a subtle American flare. I would have enjoyed more spice and the staff were accommodating and provided crushed habanero to add when requested. The staff were friendly and provided great customer service. We would go again.

Sartén mexicana - with underdone potatoes. Not terrible but not good either

It was with great expectations that we went to Bindiya this evening.   The reviews that we found…read morespoke highly of this new restaraunt just a few blocks from the center of San Miguel.   As people who spend a month per year in Cozumel this diversity was welcomed. Walking into an empty restaurant was our first sign of concern, but when the lady in charge didn't get off her butt to greet us concerns began to grow.  We entered anyway wanting to believe the reviews we read - they must have been paid reviews on yelp.. My pina colada was the worst I've had - EVER!  Tried to order but they didn't have Nan bread.  Seriously, an indian (dot) restaurant without nan.  Tried for plain basmati rice - no again.  They charged $5 for some flavored rice.  Have you ever been to an Indian restaurant that did not serve rice with the main dishes?  But not having lamb - no lamb at all - that section of the menu was out.  So it was chicken or fish or some unrecognizable vegetarian stuff with potatos. So we defaulted to two chicken dishes, Murgh chicken curry & Butter chicken along with an order of Jerra rice (had to buy rice!).. The dishes were VERY bland.  The murgh curry wasn't bad though and we did eat it.  It just lacked any real curry flavor.  The butter chicken was unlike any butter chicken I've ever eaten in any country in Asia or even the US..  It was almost Italian in nature with the overload of tomato sauce in it.  I've never had Butter chicken that tasted like tomato sauce.   It was horrid and we left over half of it on the table, along with that skanky pina colada. On the bright side the decor of the restaurant looks nice and the prices were not over the top.  More expensive than the value as it turns out. A very disappointing experience...

Finally my family agreed and in Cozumel , I yelped and found an Indian restaurant. It is about 15 minutes inside , away from ferry. The decor was inviting and excellent.the host was courteous. My kids finally thanked me for taking them for Indian cuisine as they loved the food. The chicken tikka was perfectly spiced for my kids taste and biryani for my more spicier taste. The owner also came to visit with us on her day off . We appreciated the welcoming gesture!! We thanked the chef Sanjay for making our visit memorable with his delicious cooking . The restaurant is open-air, the kind of place where fans work overtime and the heat is part of the atmosphere. If you're here for polished white-tablecloth perfection, you're missing the point. This is the kind of place where the food matters, and the people making it matter even more. We started with a margarita -- simple, clean, lime-driven, the way it should be. Then a surprise: a Mexican Chardonnay that was more than just a curiosity. It was bright, elegant, and held its own against what was about to come. The tuna tataki arrived like a quiet promise -- fresh, barely kissed by flame, layered with tomatoes and herbs that tasted like they'd been picked that morning. Then came the pasta. Not just pasta -- house-made, hand-cut strands with that chew you can only get when someone's sweating in the back rolling it out. One plate loaded with clams, briny and delicate, another brimming with mussels, shrimp, tomatoes -- a proper frutti di mare. This was Italian soul filtered through the Caribbean, kissed with garlic and oil, but unmistakably crafted with care. And then dessert. A cacao chocolate cake so rich, so unapologetically decadent, it silenced the table for a moment. This is the kind of cake you remember -- layered, moist, dark, a reminder that pastry is art when it's done right. But food is only part of the story. Joel, our waiter, was the other. A young man brimming with passion, the kind of person who doesn't just serve you but lets you glimpse the beating heart of the restaurant. His pride, his storytelling, his quiet attentiveness -- it elevated the night from a meal to an experience. Would I go back? In a heartbeat. Not because it's fancy, not because it's perfect, but because it's real. Real food, real people, real sweat. And in the end, that's what matters.

They have a couple of great regional Yucatan dishes here, like the Molcajete and the Cochinita. San Miguel de Cozumel is admittedly not the most beautiful or interesting Mexican city to do touristy stuff in, so it was a treat to find some great regional cuisine to try. I was with a group, so we ordered the Molcajete (basically, mixed grilled meats in a stew), ceviche, and cochinita (stewed pulled pork), along with tortillas. All of it was great. The sauces, from the salsa to the stew broths to the ceviche sauce, were all terrific. There was mention that they dishes were spicy, but in the end, none of the stuff was super-spicy. Furthermore, the spicy stuff was often a salsa served on the side, or a whole roasted pepper that wasn't integrated into the dish, so you could calibrate your spiciness to your taste. That's a bit late for us old heads, so we instead opted for a Monday night at 6pm reservation. Thankfully we were staying through Monday night - I would have been very sad if we weren't able to check this place out. Though the hotel says you need to make reservations before 2pm on the same day, I would suggest securing your reservation as early as possible. The service here was absolutely impeccable. Our wine and water was always filled and the courses came out in a perfect time-frame. Our waiter was super nice and attentive, and they were very accommodating to my husband who is allergic to penicillin/mold/BLUE CHEESE! Clearly he could not eat the Gorgonzola soup, so they substituted a delicious vegetable soup for him. From start to finish, I enjoyed every single bite. There was not one thing that I ate and reacted to with a "meh." You can check out the photos to see everything I consumed, but I could rave about each dish (especially the whiskey truffles). I left feeling full and treated like a superstar. The violinist was also a great touch!
