I tried on a bunch of jackets and pants--shoutout to London at the fitting rooms, who was lovely! I initially left with a total of $381.58. But later, I noticed a couple of discrepancies: the jacket's discount was miscalculated and the pants were mislabeled as XS when they were actually smalls. After some research, I found the items for less on Amazon, so we called Hansens. My fiancé spoke with them, and they were willing to price match. Enter Patty, the awesome manager! Patty was incredibly kind and helpful--she matched the Amazon price and gave me a partial refund right on the existing order. I didn't even have to drive back to Encinitas or hassle with a return. Thanks to Patty Bolton and the team, everything was made right--and I'd absolutely recommend Hansens to anyone! 5 stars

I bought my long sleeve tee right around Christmas and last week I saw a whole bunch of threads coming out of the bottom of the tee. So I walked in today showed him what it happened to the T-shirt and without a blink he said you're on the same color? I said sure really? He said yeah I grabbed it and left. Great place to buy wax since they sell at basically cost so awesome value. They'll even help you with that gear like surf racks, getting a board ready to ride, and more. One of the few shops that has used boards if that's your need. I've always loved their sticker book and go there every holiday for a stocking stuffers, too. Nikki, one of the co-founders, can be seen around the hotel at times checking in on things, socializing with guests, giving recommendations, and making sure everything is running smoothly. He is easy to get in touch with and makes the check in process simple. Surfhouse comes equipped with everything you could need during your stay including bikes, surfing equipment, and even surf lessons! You can book multiple different types of experiences through Surfhouse depending on what your interests are. They are dog friendly and require a small extra fee for bringing your pet which is so worth it. You can bike or walk to the beaches from here and it is close to several shops, restaurants, and coffee shops. There is a train nearby that can be loud when passing through, but that is something you will hear no matter where you are in this town and is not specific to this hotel. The hotel has cute common areas on the ends where you can hang out and chill on the patio. There is even an outdoor shower downstairs where you can rinse off after a day on the beach. There are only 8 rooms total, so you still feel like it is a relatively private place to stay without tons of loud neighbors or overcrowded lodging. The rooms themselves are clean, neat, and have beautiful decor. The rooms have several different setups, so you can book them depending on who is in your party and what bed arrangement you would like (twins, bunk beds, queen). There are several parking spots right in front of the hotel. The Surfhouse management seem to have thought of everything--I highly recommend coming here for a unique local experience when visiting Encinitas or any nearby towns!

It is rare that I can find a shop where both me and my dad can spend hours going through the selection, but Longboard Grotto is one of those shops. I concur with Julie's review, Longboard Grotto has a great selection of sun dresses. I bought a Toes on the Noes sun dress there that I got much use out of (the stitching eventually wore out).
