Papaya Salad: Fresh, bright, and a great healthy appetizer! Garlic Butter Soft Shell Crab: I appreciated the quality of the soft shell crab, which was crispy and rich. Shaken Beef: This was one of my favorite dishes. It came out steaming house, and the beef was teender and flavorful. Got the garlic noodles too really good, but lowkey wish we had gone with the lobster noodles or blue prawn noodles instead. Oh man... let's get to it! We ordered a few plates to share. The banh mi fries were a 10/10, super flavorful and loaded. Garlic butter grilled oysters were also a 10/10--rich, buttery, and cooked perfectly & evenly. Some places cannot get the grilled oysters right. The fish sauce wings? Another 10/10...crispy, saucy, and seriously addicting. Sounds crazy, but they were Dodging cow was a solid 9/10, tender and packed with flavor. We went for an event for their Paint Party night. This was my first time here. If it wasn't for the event, I got invited to I wouldn't have known it was there. It's located in the BJ's parking center. My bowl of vermicelli was ok, I've had better. The flavor wasn't there and the sauce was too light for my taste. I don't know if it was intended to be light or not. Everything that I had today was great. Except for the fact they were out of fresh oysters and whole crabs . Those were the reason for my visit. $26 for a dozen oysters during happy hour amd a whole crab. I recently watched a Mikey Chen aka strictly dumpling a YouTube creator where he visited san francisco and had whole crabs from 3 different spots. So to put in short I was influenced.lol I had a whole crab from place before and I figured id have another one. I my surprised they were out. They get there stock every two week is what i was told. I ate a burnt one and plus it's hella small. The snails were tough in my opinion, but the liquid it was in was tasty. The shrimp was just OK. Pretty expensive for some small dishes IMO. So I opted for the lobster noodles; I had a lot of expectations for the lobster noodles, especially for the price. I was thrilled to see they were part of the Stockton Vegan Chef Challenge and got the banh xeo tacos which were delicious and I am obsessed with their taco shell which was like nothing I'd ever had before, crunchy and I think beautifully colored with just a highlight of turmeric maybe. Great, bright peppery flavors and perfect sauce. We also had the hamachi kama that was so artistically presented as well as off the charts good. We also shared the truffle fries which were decent but maybe the fries were just a touch overdone for our liking, though the truffle sauce was good although maybe we could have used a little more. Decided to stop here before a concert at the Adventist Center (12 minutes away). We arrived at 5pm on a Sunday. We were immediately seated plenty of inside and outside seating. He said he did. So I took a chance, it was very good, smoked and used a house made caramel luxardo cherry. My wife ordered a second drink (Binge Passion) she loved this one. We started with Shrimp Spring Rolls, 2 with peanut sauce. Dinner we shared (they serve tapas style). Combination fried rice & Dodging Cow. Everything tasted good and we would go back. My wife works in the area and said she would return for lunch. My only issue was the cost of the Dodging Cow ($30), I don't think for $30 you get a lot of rib eye for the cost, my wife agreed. The service was good and the renovations are nice. Oysters were good as well as the soft shell crab. The oceanic platter was delicious with garlic noodles. The sauce I could eat for days with anything so flavorful. It comes with muscles, clams, sausage, lobster, tail, and crab. Only complaint and it's a big one the crab was not good. For entrees, my sis got a vermicelli bowl, I got the dodging steak with side of rice, my in-laws shared the seafood, hot pot, and my husband got the fried rice. For $30 my steak was decent..... I think for the price it should've at least came with some sort of side at least plain steamed rice, but it did not so I had to pay extra for that which I believe is five dollars. Came here on a Sunday with family to celebrate a birthday. We arrived around 1:30pm and it wasn't busy so we were able to sit right away. Our server was very kind and gave us waters and the menu while we waited for the rest of our group. We had a total of 6 people. At first everything seemed okay. The fries and wings came out at a reasonable time but after that we waited long to get the rest of our food. All together it took over an hour to get everything we ordered. Overall the food was good but there wasn't necessarily anything that I would come back for though, especially considering everything else. Limited options if you're a couple that wants to share appetizers but one is gluten intolerant and the other has a shellfish allergy (LOL) but there's still enough to choose from and it's tasty! Drove up from San jose to Stockton,CA to pick up our son's girlfriend before headed up to the city for fireworks on New Years Eve and stumbled upon this hidden gem. We ordered the Beefy Pho, which only comes in one size (basically a large). It smelled great, but the broth was too oily and plain--almost like watered-down pho. Adding fish sauce helped a lot. The meat portion was okay: the beef rib was tender and flavorful, but the extra bone was mostly tendon. It also came with four meatballs and two thin slices of beef. We asked kindly and respectfully if we should seat ourselves or wait for her and she yelled "Wait I will seat you" with an attitude. We eventually left because great customer service is why we come to restaurants besides the food and this place had no customer service at all. We will not be coming here ever again.
