Disgusting charred bbq pork meat served with vermicelli

Pho- tasted sweeter than most places! The broth is key with this dish! Whoever came up with the recipe needs an update pho101 Grilled pork- take a look at the photo! Why would you served burnt ends of this to customer?? Simply ask: would you like this if you had to pay for it? Service charge: don't even get me started! Does pouring water for our group of 6 families at a non busy hour seems too much? Then why bother with service charge when you don't even know service etiquette! Oh- it was a super hot day, they don't even want to turn on AC! One star just for having a location that represented Asian Vietnamese food, but unfortunately failed to deliver the actual authenticity! Back to San Jose

A no frills good Vietnamese Restaurant in Stockton. Place does get packed and there's usually a 10 to 15 minute wait (this was around 1600 hours). The star here, is their Pho. Opted to try something different and went for their Grill Ribeye Pho.. the ribeye comes on a separate dish and very savory, but if you put in the soup it enhances the soup flavor. One thing I hate with Pho is restaurant don't serve it piping hot causing the noodles to clump but Pho Island does this right. soup is still steaming and tongue burning; just the way I like it. A place to definitely book mark for the Pho cravings in Stockton.

It's kind of small but spacious at the same time. I always drive by this place, finally went in with my family. It was pretty packed with people waiting outside to be seated. They have a spin wheel for birthdays which is fun. Food was really good. I will say I've never had my beef placed on the side of the pho but nonetheless it was still very flavorful.

Thanks Yelpers. Was looking for a good Vietnamese place and found this spot. We got their chicken banh mi, very flavorful and a good size. They didn't have jalapeños, pickled daikon and carrots so that was different. Their chicken rice plate was flavorful and great portion. Both chicken items were juicy and tasted really fresh. Their pho is also good! Look forward to trying their other dishes. Nice and quick service. The restaurant is clean and plenty of seating. Parking was easy as well. Come check them out.

This place is busy! And for good reason. It's not a big establishment so during busy hours it can be bustling noise-wise. Nonetheless it's tidy and spacious enough. There is bar seating too. My friend got the combo pho with tripe. I didn't try it but she said it was ok. We had the salt and pepper tofu and squid which were really good and seasoned well (not too salty). The grilled oysters were really yummy! I got the vermicelli noodle bowl which was great! Noodles thin and delicate and perfect consistency. This feels like a staple Vietnamese restaurant here in Stockton. Wish parking was a bit easier

Another decent find from Yelp. We were visiting UOP and wanted pho afterwards. Searched Yelp and found Pho Island. Easy parking on the street. While it's a busy street, we found parking really easily. We all ordered the B4 Build Your Own Pho. Mine had eye-round steak and beef meatballs. It was very tasty and the soup felt thicker than other places I go to. Tasted good - salty, but good. We also ordered pork egg rolls. They were cooked too long in oil as the edges were a little burnt and the wrap was hard. The place was pretty full so we knew the food would have been decent.

Always out to spot an altar of worship/offering...from any culture. It's a hobby of mine. Lol

Smallish pho joint real close to the university. Place was actually more stylish than your basic plastic table pho joint. Dark interior with several flatscreens all beaming sports. Place was smaller than I anticipated, maybe a dozen tables. Service is crazy quick. Like less than 3 minutes for my pho to arrive. They also drop off a carafe of ice water which I applaud. Most other pho joints getting a glass of water/or any beverage can really be a challenge. Here it is solved in one swoop. Fried Pork Eggrolls ($10.25/4*) Who remembers when an app plate of cha gio used to only be around $6ish. Le sigh. Very tasty filling, they season things here to maximum levels without being too salty/overwhelming. Mostly ground pork and super fine veggies that you really can't make out. Rolled nice and tight but that rice paper really soaks up some oil. But it stayed crisp even with the leftover I ate a couple of hours later. Basic Pho ($15.25/4*) This is their small size like one of the smaller bowls I've ever seen. But I like smaller sizes for the lunch hours so this was a good fit for me. I just never understood how people could down a quart of broth plus over a pounds worth of noodles and protein...midday without wanting to take a nap and/or feel sluggish. Lol. But this basic bowl you can pick 2 proteins from their list, with some upgrades available like switching to filet meat for regular sliced beef for a couple extra bucks. I went with my go-to of tendons and regular sliced beef on the side. The default beef slices were probably top round slightly frozen. I was able to keep my bites pretty rare which I love. Much chewier than filet meat but I like that most times. I like substance and flavor over soft textures with little flavor. The tendons were in smaller bite sized pieces and were pretty tender. The broth was really well seasoned, great subtle spicing, but maybe a touch salty. But after adding the bean sprouts, fresh basil, squeeze of citrus and jalapenos, things balanced out nicely. The noodles were super fresh and did not clump at all, even tho it was in a tight pretty ball inside the broth at arrival. Stockton always had a good representation for southeast Asians. I didn't see any in the dining room except for the employees tho. And the pricing is dead on Bay Area pricing which kinda surprised me. But damn good (American friendly) Viet food that I would revisit anytime I make it back in town. They've got actual steak here done in their culture's style and that intrigues me big time. Will be back!

Came with my team for lunch. We were seated pretty much immediately and they brought water. Once we decided what we wanted to eat we had to get a waiter's attention. The food came pretty quick and it was good! The waiters never came to check on us after we got the food and we had to get another waiter's attention to get boxes and the check. Then had to get their attention again to hand over the payment.

Short D5. Grilled Beef Korean Short-Rib (Cơm Sườn Đại Hàn) sub garlic noodles Wine margaritas- pina colada
    Chaulzy S.

Right off alpine. There is parking in front but more in the alley and directly behind the building. The place it self is welcoming and spacious. Most times they want you to sign j. And wait to be seated but today there was no wait. We started off as 2 and then our friend came later we didn't realize she was bringing kids but it was no problem for them and they quickly accommodated. We ordered Popcorn shrimp- 3/5 regular freezer to fryer butterfly shrimp. Not sure why it was called popcorn shrimp. It was okay Veggie egg rolls- 4/5- good crunch- little filling Wine margaritas- 3/5 tasted like sweet syrup and had a salt rim. 3 is cause it was STRONG. Korean short rib with garlic noodles 5/5- the portion looked small but omg this was more than enough food that had so much flavor! Usually the garlic noodles from other places have an overpowering taste but these were perfect. The shirt rib are good too. Some places serve all fat but not here. I got good meaty pieces and good marinated flavor that I love. Pork chop vermicelli bowl- the bowl was huge I didn't taste but from the empty bowl I think it was good with no complaints And grilled chicken plate! Same for this plate. With all this food we had to take to go boxes. So much food.

Food was good, I didn't know what to eat I settled for this. A quick Yelp review of this restaurant persuaded me to visit it. Although everything I had was great. This place shine bright with thier pho selection. How foolish of me to go to a pho place and not try the pho. Service was excellent when I got there. Later in my meal the restaurant got busy. Service was still great giving how busy they got. Salt and pepper tofu was my favorites. Let them cool if or suffer i have. The egg roll came out hot and tasty. Good option of table side sauces made the sweet chili sauces that with them better. They was miss understanding when I ordered the oysters. I want the ponzu, butter ones but got the green onion peanut ones. They were good but i didn't want that crunchy texture. Ambiance was great. Mexican soap operas on one tv. Sports on the other. Current pop music playing on the speaker has the girls but swinging in thier booth. Lol. Lovely place.

This is not what I order!!!

I just left! The server got my order wrong twice I asked for a kid rib eye twice and he still gave me a kids chicken! This means they don't care to repeat the order and are ok with not making their customers happy!! And this is very displeasing! This is not what I ordered

    Big ol grilled oysters.

This restaurant had fast service and really good pho. I had the oxtail combo and it was delicious. We also tried the baked oysters which were very tasty. I prefer my oysters to be a little smaller but these ones were still fresh and flavorful. One thing to note is the street parking is a little awkward as oncoming traffic doesn't seem to slow down for you, Id recommend parking around back or somewhere safer nearby.

Always a great experience because the food is always delicious, I've tried multiple variations of pho here and they never disappoint with the great flavor. They could stand to add more noodles but I still enjoy this place. Servers are always nice and the service is efficient. The ambiance is nice as well because they always play good music and it's a family oriented restaurant. Parking is a lil hectic because it's a busy street but this is my favorite pho spot I even drive from Sacramento to come here. Love it

Their young male staff at the counter was so nice and sweet. Great customer service is always a plus for me! Food: Fried chicken wings: delicious! It was so crunchy! I LOVE it! Lortcha Noddles: this is tropioca rice noodles stir fry with Chinese broccoli & bean sprouts. Meat are extra charged. I added chicken. This dish is new to me. And wow! It was packed and loaded with flavors! Everything wre trench in the savoury sauce! If you haven't been here, it is a MUST try! I definitely need to return for more wings and try their other dishes. The Crab Fried Rice with Shrimp was delicious. They used real crab meat and definitely didn't skimp on it, which made every bite worth it. The Drunken Noodles were another standout. The noodles were cooked perfectly--not overcooked or soggy--and the flavors were spot on. One thing we really appreciated was the generous portion sizes. We had plenty of leftovers to take home, making it an even better value. The dining area is small, simple, neat, and clean, creating a comfortable atmosphere. The staff were also friendly and welcoming throughout our visit. My only disappointment was the Thai Tea. It came in a can, which was my fault for not reading the menu carefully. I was expecting freshly made Thai tea, so the canned version just wasn't for me. Overall, I'd give Johnny Wokker Southeast Asian Cuisine a 9/10. Great food, generous portions, friendly service, and definitely a place I'd come back to--I'll just skip the canned Thai Tea next time!

Oh it's fusion alright, menu has a level of variety I haven't seen anywhere else. Lots of seafood options so great for pescatarians like my partner :) They only had one real pho option (the BEEF) but are working on adding more. Erick, the sole dude running the whole show (quite literally ) told us as much (bun rieu!) Anyway where do I even begin. I got the beef pho which was amazing, real bone broth cuz well.. there's a huge bone of meat in it among others. He brought out the usual pho veggie plate with the usual sriracha hoisin sauce duo but the hot sauce was premixed which caught me off guard--like sh I usually do it myself. Bussin ten toes down, I stand on it. Spicier than you expect so just be careful if you're gonna dump some in your soup. Ima purist when it comes to pho so nah but to each they own, no judgement. The final cherry on top was the Dino egg/Pokémon shooters Erick made us. I initially thought he was talking about a toy or something when he was describing. Light cubes in the blue curaçao? Say less, bussin multiplier. It was a fantastic end to the night and Erick was the one that made it, honestly. Dude's got the energy, service, and knowledge cuz he does the food orders AND drinks. We'll be back for sure to go thru the rest of the menu, there was honestly a lot I know we won't be able to find elsewhere, not even Sac. Finally, excuse me, but big slidey door?? Never seen that for a place like this in a plaza. On a hot day, it was really nice to be able to sit right next to it and get the cold ac but also some that nice valley heat from outdoors (they got seating out there too but we left that for the oh so lovey dovey couple). Alright I'm getting sidetracked but as you can see, can't say enough about this place. Thank you, Erick and crew :)

But it worked out for us on the day that my friend and I came. It did not take long after we placed our order for each of the items to come out. I appreciated that they brought the sweet item last as our "dessert". I am excited that 88Bao Bao has expanded their menu options too! For example, the cute panda custard bun is something I haven't tried before. It's not as cute as the pictures though, just keep in mind hahah. I have to say, though, a lot of the prices have gone up since the last time I was here; and between two people who had ordered about four or five dishes, two fruit drinks, with taxes and tip it up to $95! I think this place does well for their dumplings and xiao long bao. The wonton chili oil wasn't as flavorful or spicy as I am used to at other Chinese restaurants. For the small space, they certainly use it well with several tables available. They keep the dining area and the bathroom relatively clean as well. The restaurant was 3/4 full when we were there, but still not too noisy that you couldn't have conversations. The TV plays random YouTube music videos. Overall, a decent experience. I like that they had expanded their menu options and provide a tablet to order at the tables. I just hope that they can maintain the quality of their many items. It has gotten a little more expensive, understandably, so I don't imagine coming back too often. I always love their guava fruit drink though so I do recommend that.
