Awesome people and good food. All proceeds go to the St. John the Baptist Church and school.

If you're a newbie like me (to a bingo hall, not bingo itself), I recommend going at least 25-30…read moreminutes early to learn how things work and determine if you want to add extra options, like flash games, etc. (more opportunities to win big). We arrived about 15 minutes before start time, but with parking being difficult (the lot was quite full) and having to wait in a short line for buy in, we didn't sit down till a few minutes before start time. And being given a large stack of bingo sheets/cards, didn't know what to do. Luckily the guy next to us was a regular and helped us out. Once they start, they go fast, and if you miss something or don't call out bingo quickly enough, you're out of luck. We got the minimum package on a Sunday evening ($80 per person, for two of us). Each sheet had 5 bingo sets on it (numbers only, no letters), and you play several sheets at a time, so yeah, you gotta pay attention and be quick to mark your cards. Luckily there are large clear screens where you can see the numbers called during each game until it's reset for the next game, but still you gotta be quick so I wouldn't rely on that to play catch up. To win, you need to get a bingo (3 in a row) for all 5 sets on one sheet before calling out "bingo", unless there are different instructions for a specific game. When we went, there were about 10-12 games throughout the night (more if you purchased extra), hence the stack of cards in the beginning, and it lasted about 3 hours including an 8 minute intermission. We didn't win, but it was fun (once we got the hang of it). The place had a casual atmosphere, older crowd (we were probably the youngest people there), everyone seemed to be friendly enough, mainly just minding their own business, and lots of hardcore bingo-ers! There were restrooms, coffee, and vending machines on site. The service was efficient, we didn't encounter any problems with staff, and there were plenty of workers/volunteers walking around during the games selling extra cards. If you want a chance to win some extra cash, this is a fun way to do it, and if you don't win, at least you know your money is going to charity. Also, gotta love the colorful themed bingo cards (ie. Betty Boop, and Popeye the Sailor).

Dialogue excerpt: Me: I'm so excited to play Bingo tonight!…read moreManuel M.: You're just excited to play bingo, because of the prospect a bunch of old men being at the same place. Me: Touché, my friend. But maybe true. +2 points for you. But beyond that candor, bingo has a special place in my heart. My mother and I don't do anything together much anymore, and when I was 15 - she introduced me to bingo. This was the first place we went. And today, after a horrendous day in the office, coupled with a horrendous current outlook on life - I decided, bingo was needed. And thank god, it was Monday - because every Monday, the Italian Men's Club does bingo. So first of all, they have some really good Italian food here. And it's cheap. I'm down for spaghetti, almost all the time... especially, if it's good. The facilities are not great, but the experience is great. I wouldn't recommend doing 4 regular bingo cards at a time, because I got tired. Buy-in is $15 minimum, usually the night starts at 6pm with early bird, dinner is served starting at 5, and the regular games start at 6:45. The people that go here are odd at worse, and usually nice at best. So after a day of wanting to stab myself in the ear with a pencil at the office, I tried doing numbers with a cute pink dabber instead. Judge me, that's fine. Was that last number, O69, people?

I am not an experienced Bingo player at all. Mostly because I've never won. I mean, how…read moreexperienced can I be, if I've never used my "BINGO!" yell? That's besides the point. Bingo here is great. It's a $15 minimum buy in--that gets you two booklets (about 10-15 games), and a $1.25 for your own stamper. I mean, dabber. I mean, those things that you mark your sheet with as they announce B-5. Note--if you're confused at all during any of the games--feel free to ask one of the 'regulars.' You can tell who they are by all their bingo paraphernalia. Just don't ask them when a game is in play.

I absolutely love San Pedro Square Marketplace. The energy, the layout, the food options…read more.. Everything is great. It works incredibly well for groups and gatherings because people can wander and grab whatever food sounds good to them and then regroup outside to talk and enjoy the atmosphere and each other's company. There's an impressive variety of vendors. I was hoping to grab a tea at Urban Ritual on my last visit but I was sad to see that they are no longer here. They will be missed but there are still lots of choices so that nobody feels like their options are limited. The outdoor space is great with plenty of seating and it's kept clean. There are sunny spots and shady spots and busier areas great for people watching and calmer areas tucked away for quiet contemplation. It's like a community gathering space and a food hall all-in-one. It's also really dog friendly, outside anyway. I always have my dog with me and it takes the stress away to go somewhere where I know she will be welcome and comfortable. If you need to run inside to order food or use the restroom you can have someone watch your pup but there are also some restrooms outside too if you needed to bring your fur baby with you. Great food options, great atmosphere and one of the better communal spaces I've come across. I definitely recommend I stop here.

Parking is $10 in a nearby garage (a popular parking place for an event at SAP center). This market was huge and had so many restaurants. Anything from desserts to drinks and all types of food. Because we were there before a game and it was a Saturday, there were so many people there. One area seemed to be more popular than the other building (where there was a bar). There was also an outdoor area with a live band playing. Food here isn't the best you can find in the city, it just does the job in a pinch. It's a popular place to hang out as well especially for families. Pros: parking is affordable and there's plenty of options for food and drinks. I like the variety there is available. There's something for everyone. Cons: there was plenty of seating but because the sheer amount of people, seating was hard to find.
