Did this place change ownership? They used to be so nice. I stopped in today and bought a couple cigars. While I was sitting in the lounge, an employee came over and asked me to move my foot because the heel of my shoe was resting on the leather chair. It honestly wasn't intentional but c'mon, that was a bit extreme. I'll take my future business to Cigar King in Skokie, where the staff is always lovely. read more

I will echo the comment left by Ashour: this place will gauge you! I walked in with a simple mission of getting the latest Drew Estate Freestyle kit. Should be a simple task as the kit is in a nice cardboard box with an MSRP of $40. SOOO, when you go place to place or online retailers: its the same price or at least should be. My local shop had them online, but sold out before I had a chance to buy it. As I was visiting Chicago (my old home), I trekked out to these guys about 5 miles from our office. Just to recap: my LCS sells them for $40, Atlantic Cigar sells them for $39.95. Brick and mortar stores and online stores all around $40. These guys? You ready? $80! I asked the guy if it was mismarked by accident, he said "No". I tried to explain to him its a $40 promo event pack, not a hard to find Opus X,etc. He just had a blank stare. So I turned around, shaking my head and left. They have been around for a while, as I have passed this shop many times; but this was the first time I walked in. This is my go to stop for my cigars. Large selection. However, I've noticed a huge amount of the cigars have mold. I understand the business side of trying to keep your inventory up but when your inventory has mold and you don't remove them from display, that's where I turn away because it's going to make me question the value of the store owner and also the quality of the cigars in the humidor. I come on a weekly or biweekly basis for my purchases and right when you walk in, Plasencia is to your left and all the new ones that have come out all have mold. Whole boxes of cigars in the humidor contain mold when you really pay attention. I'm a lover of the leaf and to me quality needs to be #1 before quantity. read more

Stopped in to check the spot out when I was in the neighborhood. Very nice selection of sticks and the lounge was a very big open room with a bunch of tvs and several sitting areas. Staff was nice. It was a Thursday afternoon, so not crowded. They had a box of Opus X Lost City (really, they did) so I grabbed one and knocked out some work. Fantastic cigar but worth the price? I don't know, maybe. But to pay $50 to get that smoke and knock out some work while watching the Open Championship is an absolute bargain. Great selection but they love to overcharge and price gouge. For example, when their Drew Estate events are over they sell the leftover "event only" cigars for $50 a piece when they cost about $18 during the event. Don't care to support a business like this. read more

Great lounge with lots of space and comfortable chairs. Buy $30 in smokes and you can use the lounge. Parking in front is for members but there is parking in the rear that is easy to get in and out of. Selection of cigars in the humidor is nice - lots of variety and size selection. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. This is a gem of a find for me and certainly my home cigar lounge now. One of the best lounges I've been to. read more

Stopped by for the first time to check it out and not even a hello, or how are you... 3 people sitting and eating by the counter and all they did was watch on camera... spent about $50 dollars for 4 macanudo's.... Pricey for Macanudos and a lot of other cigars.... Had to spend $30 to sit in cigar lounge..... guys inside the lounge were nicer than the people who own this establishment... Hoorendous staff. I stopped by with my service dog,(disabled vet). After purchasing my cigars,i was denied use of the lounge stating that i couldnt bring my service dog in and was kicked out. I had a discussion with their "security " off duty police officer and their counter employee , officer Wimbeldon, stated , " anyone can put a vest on an animal and say hes a service dog". I'm from out of town, and was looking for a place to buy, relax and smoke a good stick, but when I got there, was told I would have to buy $30.00 worth of cigars if I wanted to smoke one there. I had called in advance to verify that they were open, but wasn't told about the purchase requirement until I got there. Just found out that this lounge opened 6 months ago and it's a hit. Good selection of sticks at reasonable prices. If you are looking for a gift, they have a wide variety of merchandise for the cigar lover in your life. I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars as the lounge desperately needs additional smoke elimination equipment. It's a large lounge and it was veritable London fog with 15 people smoking in it. I'm sure this will be remedied in time. Special mention to Rick who was friendly and took care of me. read more

$20 minimum purchase to smoke in lounge???!!! WTF I have been to this place a bunch of times now since it opened. The place is nice, the crowd is diverse. However, tonight, at about 8:30 pm, I was told that they will be closing in 5 minutes. The sign on the door stated that they close at 10PM. Then I was told that it was because of the weather. Then the staff (Indian guy and female GM) told me that there is now a $20 minimum purchase to smoke in the lounge. I then pointed out that after I paid for my cigar...why did the cashier not say anything to me?? . I would have gladly walked out ... Did he think I was gonna pay for a cigar, walk into the cigar lounge ,and not smoke it there??. I told both employees that I frequent other cigar lounges and have never been treated this way... The owner of this establishment has ZERO people skills. I met some coworkers there, who are all members of the lounge ($500/year), to watch NFL playoff games. The owner walked in the lounge area and stated, "15 mins until closing". Even tho it was about 18 mins left in the game. With 1min 43 secs left in a tie game, the owner began turning TVs off. Some of the members and other guests began yelling and telling him that it's only 2 mins left, let us finish watching the game. He said, "ok, yall have 1 min 43 secs left". I feel like after your guests have spent several hundreds of dollars in your establishment, at least allow them to finish watching a playoff game. I've been told that the owner has owned other cigar lounges and owns several dunkin donuts, inside airports, so it explains his arrogance and asshole behavior. If it wasn't for the members, cool guests, ventilation system and the huge selection of cigars in the humidor, I'm certain, NOONE would deal with his foolishness. Parking is terrible. I feel like members should have a VIP area, in which they can have a more relaxed experience. It's no music allowed, which is trash. He should create an environment in which people want to spend money with u, not hate being in your lounge. I will NEVER go back and will tell all my friends not to support this business!! read more

Found this place on Yelp so paying it forward. Visited for the first time a couple weeks ago after searching throughout Chicago for a place to smoke while I'm there on business. Located only minutes from O'Hare, Patel is in a perfect spot for making connections or hanging with colleagues on the way in or out of town. I received a perfect recommendation of a Nicaraguan Sin Compromiso robusto from a member of the staff and thoroughly enjoyed the smoke while making friends with travelers and locals. Bring your own booze... they sell soda and water. If you haven't been yet, get there! read more

Wow! Is all I can say about this place. Flew in from LA and wanted to enjoy a cigar . Checked Yelp out and this place came up. The size of the humidor is insane. So many premium cigar choices I dont know where to begin. The thing that blew me away were the owners. I feel horrible because I forgot her name but the owners wife is unreal. Her knowledge of cigars is second to none and she is the sweetest thing you'll meet. She is an original New Yorker so maybe that's why we related. The owner himself is a super cool guy. When we entered the cigar lounge it was a bit intimidating . Seems like a lot of these guys all knew each other. I was blown away when several of them came up and introduced themselves. When we left we said goodbye to all of them. Super friendly and a great bunch of folks just chilling out having a smoke. Bottom line. If you like cigars and are in Chicago and want an unpretentious vibe with a sick humidor. Look no further. read more

Beautiful smoking space but they soon got greedy so your options if you would like to smoke here is pay $20 a day for the lounge or $500 a year for a locker. This is just robbery while I understand they need to make money I will NOT be coming back. If I wanted to come maybe a couple times a month they have made it clear I am not welcome unless I get fleeced. Cheap owners make it not a classy establishment. read more

We were on a 3 day business meeting in Chicago and discovered this place the last night! We had a great time. The place is currently BYOB. You do need to purchase $20 for each member of your party to enter the lounge itself, but it is money well spent! The Staff was very accommodating. I have been coming to Rocky Patel Cigar Lounge since November 2018 and I truthfully enjoy this place. I average once a week here and the place is great to relax, watch TV, talk with, and smoke a fine cigar with maybe something to wash it down. The staff is fantastic and down to earth with impracticable knowledge. Bandish (Hopefully spelled right) is a real nice guy who actually cares about his customers and the quality of the experience you have. Akhie is silent but such a great guy that if he isn't there its like missing a friend and a person who will take care of your needs. Dawn is such a nice person with vast knowledge in cigars and always in a good mood. The events they have are great, seating is comfortable, the other customers become people you go back to meet up and hang out with. No tension all relaxing. You will like this place. Beautiful place! The walk-in humidor is astounding with great cigar variety. The cigar lounge is very classy and comfy. He has all kinds of accessories as well (pouch tobacco, hookah flavors, bongs, pipes, lighters, etc.). A great addition to the neighborhood and a must see!
