BioBurgerMeister (what a mouthful) was a pleasant happenstance. BioBurger, what is that? Oh! St. Sebastian's Church, my confirmation namesake. A saint with arrows won first, but then I returned to BioBurger. Prominently displayed above the grill was a specialty burger, but also there was a large chalkboard dedicated to their vegan/vegetarian burgers. Ok, so bio reflects an anti-meat perspective. I went and ordered their Bio Feta Burger. The gentleman said "vegetarian" with a questioning inflection. I nodded affirmative. Once I got my seat, I understood why. They have a circular menu shaped like a burger which lists all their burgers, 2/3 of which feature meat. Ah ha! It was confusing with the signage consuming my eyesight. Keep that in mind- they have a large selection for the omnivores, vegetarians and vegans. My feta burger was hand delivered and look gorgeous with all the colors poking underneath the bun. The feta was lightly toasted with a crispy outer edge, the cabbage crunchy with bitter notes, onions thinly sliced minimizing their immediate pungency, tzatziki sauce lightly covering everything, a pickle surprises. It was a great burger. The bun to contents ratio seemed nice, though the bun truly didn't add anything, merely a hand to mouth vehicle. We found this after the end of our Fräulein Maria Bike Tour. Since we had been eating a lot of Austrian food, we were ready for something more familiar. We found it. The good: The burgers were tasty, substantial and made to order. The fries were crispy and tasty. We would definitely go back. The not so good: The restaurant was small and cramped and there was no outside seating available in the shade. It was July so it was a little too hot in the sunshine. After a long day, we wanted a quick and easy meal. This spot was right around the corner from where we stayed, so decided to order a couple of burgers and fries to go. Although I didn't expect to be amazed, I thought we would get decent burgers considering the positive reviews. The meat was cooked perfectly, but that was the only positive. Very good burger spot on Linzergasse in Salzburg. Walked by this place a few different times and it always seemed busy so I decided to check it out. It's very small so you're lucky if you can find a seat, but everything is so fresh that it's worth it. Very friendly staff (they can speak English too). Everything is written on the wall describing the burgers. I got the "Hangover Burger" with Gouda, bacon, and coleslaw. It was really messy, but very good. Another plus is that it's cheap. There are a couple of thing that are key to a good burger: good quality, tasty beef that is correctly ground to provide the right texture; cooking that burger correctly to get a bit of a char while keeping the meat moist; a good bun that will not disintegrate while you're eating it. BBM delivers on those key points. Truly, a tasty, high-quality burger on a tasty, slightly chewy bun. Highly recommended! The ordering system written on the wall makes it more chaotic than necessary--just pick your drink up from the cooler, go to the register to order and pay, then they'll call you when it's ready. Minor non-essential quibbles: bun and burger might be closer in dimension so that you're not eating mouthfuls of empty bun, but at least the bun is tasty. Also--would have liked to have choice of ketchup or sauce, as the cheeseburger would have been better with some ketchup or mustard. The establishment caters to traditional eaters, vegetarians, and vegans, providing each with many choices. Also check out the sweet potato fries! The place will most likely be crowded. The staff was pretty accommodating with English. There is very limited seating. We both stood and at on a sort of shelf. If it is busy it might be best to take your food to go. Review from a vegetarian perspective: Nicely labeled vegan and veg options, and obvious attention to issues of cross-contamination in the open kitchen. I had a burger with tofu and feta, and my wife had something similar. The side of fries was very tasty. However, the amount of content on the burger bun was very, very minimal. The vegetarian burgers should have at least double the contents. You will get mouthfuls of bun. The bun is great, but it's really meant as the holder of substantial ingredients, which the vegetarian burgers simply lacked.
