I am so grateful to have connected with BioDental Healing. Two years ago I had a crown placed but was experiencing continued inflammation. Two separate dentists gave suggestions (floss better, use Arestin, etc.) but eventually shrugged and said my inflammation around the crown would remain. I was feeling really disheartened. The front office to this office is the absolute WORST to deal with. Their communication is horrible. I've tried to get a copy of what was done so I can submit it to my insurance for reimbursement as they suggested I can do. They claim they have sent over the claim to my ins multiple times yet my insurance company has not received anything from them. When I try to call them, they dont answer and yes its during working hours. When I leave a voicemail, a call will not be returned. When I email them.. no response. The email I got from Natalia a few weeks ago of a copy of the paperwork, was so blurry you cannot read it at all whatsoever. My insurance wouldn't accept it so I know its no good. I talked to Natalia again this morning to please send me a more clear picture and I have yet to receive it. I'm done trying to get the paperwork from them since this seems to be a COMPLETE waste of my time. Treatment was done September of last year and I still have yet to get them to get this paperwork over to my insurance company OR even just emailed to me. Of course before initially coming in, they always answered my calls and returned my voicemails. They were sweet when we got to the office but after treatment (and after taking our $250 dollars by the way, for just literally talking to the dentist) they don't care. They will take your money and ignore you if no further treatment is required. The Dentist on the other hand, was very very sweet and seemed honest but I second guess it now with the other reviews I see about him. What's the difference between a regular dentist and a 'holistic' one? The 'holistic' dentist puts crystals in the waiting room, does the exact same thing and charges 2 or 3 times as much. I heard of this dentist and his amazing holistic approach, drove all the way from San Diego for it. Was in and out in 30 minutes, 15 of which was my 'consultation', which consisted of his wanting to pull teeth, perform risky, invasive surgery and install implants, exactly like the dentist I was trying to get away from. So much for 'holistic' dentistry. I doubt if he even looked at my X-rays, there was no more than a few minutes to do that. My bill for 30 minutes and the same cookie cutter dentistry as everywhere else? Over $500. Don't bother. read more

I tried to forget this office and move forward but I have to say that the manager Anais is just horrible, very fake, like the words she says are words but her vibe, energy is just nasty, she isn't kind or caring ... when I wanted to see if I can come in as well for my parents consultation to help translate she responded by saying "I don't have time to discuss this", another time when I called to see if they have a closer appointment date then a month or if someone cancels to let me know, she said I can just find someone else and sent me an email with other dentists ( that I didn't ask for, was trying to come there) and because I had an infection was hoping to come in earlier. She is not nice or inviting acts like they can care less if you will be their patient, left a bad taste about the whole office! I debated if I wanted to write a review here about my experience with Dr. David Villarreal in Newbury Park, CA. He is a very charming man who is a good actor like he really cares about you. Well, he is all about the money! Recently, I saw him and he gave me a proposal to do $4500 worth of his diagnosis work on my mouth. I made a comment at the front desk, because another patient was paying his enormous bill and being a comedian it just popped out and I said when you come here it's like making a down payment on a house. Well, apparently that hit the sweet spot because they never took my call again. I called the Dr on his cell phone and told him what happened and he said he will take care of it in the morning. Surprise, no one ever got back to me. Obviously the front desk girls passed on my comment asap! The truth hurts doesn't it Dr. So I went to a new dentist and all this expensive work he said I needed done, well you guessed it, bull shit! Nothing was wrong at all with my teeth. I've seen some TV shows about these kind of stories on American Greed. Never thought I could have gone on the show though as a victim. Here's the mother of all. I referred my stepdaughter to him and he told her she needed $11,000 worth of dental work! She really was putting a down payment on a house. Dr please don't respond with one of your standard bull crap responses apologizing. This is the only negative review I have ever written about a physician. I have better things to do. But, I'm making an exception here because people deserve to hear this and if I help one person that would mean a lot to me. I have to tell you I am shocked I didn't recognize this sooner about these extravagant charges I've been paying. The $4500 one when no problems with my teeth was enough to write this review. I went to Dr. Villarreal because I recently had a broken crown that needed to be replaced. I found him by doing a search for a biodentist. I was very impressed by his skill and his care in protecting me and himself from mercury exposure as he removed the damaged crown. He treated me with kindness, understanding, and patience. He took plenty of time explaining everything to me. This all was very important to me as I am irrationally fearful of dental work. As for his staff, they were all helpful and professional. The office staff (especially the office manager) is very unprofessional. They don't tell you their names when they answer the phone, so you don't even know who you're talking to. They are condescending and act like you should be grateful you're even talking to them. Then they charged me $250 for a 5 minute phone consultation just to tell me that they couldn't help me and would have to refer me to someone else. That's just horrible customer service. Most dentists do a free consultation to let you know whether or not they can help you. And they certainly won't still charge you $250 if they can't help you and you never even see them! After I raised hell about wanting my $$$ back, the office manager agreed to talk to the Dr and he decided to refund me. But the icing on the cake was that they "accidentally" charged me another $250 (that I had to pay interest on! ) instead of refunding me. read more

I was referred to Dr. V, by my primary doc Miguel Gonzales. I had looked into BioDental before but never made the jump, but when my doc endorsed them, I went ahead and made the call. I dread going to the dentist probably like all other human beings lol. dr. V , is hella fast so it makes it a lot more tolerable. Also the added benefit is that he is the most holistic dentist within probably 200 miles from here. There are many dentists out there that pose as holistic just cause they will remove your mercury fillings, but that is not the full scope of holistic dentistry - pop quiz for any dentist is if they don't know who Westin Price is, walk out right away. I also have to leave a review for the hygienist they have, she knows reike and totally sends me calming vibes when she cleans my teeth. I usually avoid getting my teeth cleaned for the same reasons, so I like literally wait maybe every two years. This is actually the first time I came back in the 6 month recommend time. I went to another dentist for insurance reasons and she asked who did my work (bridge) and commented about the excellent quality of his work. She then charged $900.00 to clean my teeth and my son's teeth! So much for dental insurance. I went back to Dr. Villarreal. The only reason I did not give him five stars is that his work is on the expensive side but after using someone else, I decided that his work was not any more expensive than the work of the dentist on my plan. Where do I start with this amazing practice. I was referred to the hygienist Gail originally then ended up breaking a tooth before I booked a cleaning. I was so nervous even with the referral because I felt that dentist I had been seeing was well qualified but we disagreed on certain aspects (mercury fillings, implants for my 87 year mother, too many X-rays, etc). But the molar that broke had an amalgam filling in it and she had already said root canal (another point of contention). Not only did I end up saving a ton of money but Dr. D saved the tooth and the one behind it that had an infection in it and my overlay was painless and totally comfortable. I had a previous root canal (with another dental office) gone wrong it was horribly painful and crown had to be refit multiple times. Two visits with Dr. D and I was pain free. The entire staff is remarkable and Gail is the best hygienist I've ever had as well. And then I took my mom there....seriously she saved $4k by not having the expense and agony of an implant. Going the dentist has never really been on my "top 10 list of things to do today", but after months of mouth pain, I had get past my dental phobia and have, not one, but two broken crowns replaced. If I could give this office less than one star, I would. Stay away from "Dr. David" --- he is a hypocrite. Doesn't care about his patients but for their ability to line his pockets. Like most dentists in the "holistic" racket -- really, folks, ask yourself how many dental reconstructive materials are holistic? this is a field in which prevention is all -- he wears the mantle to up the price. Moreover, despite what other reviews say on this page, Sochi, the receptionist, is nasty. Seriously nasty. Was I late? Did I bring that on? No. What I saw was the reality under the hood. My husband and I have been going to Dr. David Villarreal for 1 1/2 years now. His office is over a two-hour drive from our home in Newport Beach, but after going to other so-called "holistic" dentists in our area, we are happy to make the long trip! He is truly a "biological" dentist in every way - well-certified and educated in this specialty. He has studied with the preeminent Dr. Huggins, and is one of the few in SoCal offering the complete Huggins protocol when removing teeth with root canals, and many other procedures. My previous "holistic" dentist had recommended a root canal on a tooth than ran along the same meridian (in Chinese Medicine) as my right breast. which has a tumor that had been diagnosed as first stage breast cancer over five years ago. (I have chosen a completely natural path to healing, and that's a big reason I chose a more holistic approach to dentistry.) Almost immediately after I had the root canal done by the previous dentist, the tooth abscessed, and I began a 9-day journey of often excruciating, non-stop pain. Thank God I found Dr. David in time, as the infection posed a real danger to my immune system and my right breast. He removed the tooth and all the infection, which was quite extensive, administered a vitamin-C IV, and had me stay overnight at a hotel down the street to minimize the possibility of a "dry socket." (BTW, my tumor has been recently diagnosed as "quiescent," and I believe that definitely has something to do with having the dangerous tooth with the root canal removed from my mouth.) As soon as I had the tooth removed and the anesthetic wore off, I was literally euphoric! The pain almost immediately ceased, which was incredible to me as it had been so severe right up to my office visit. (I had even been to the emergency room a few nights prior.) I felt so good while recovering in the hotel, it was hard to stay in bed as instructed. I used hypericum for pain, a homeopathic remedy Dr. David gives you right after surgery - it worked amazingly well, and I barely needed any Tylenol, much less Vicodin. When I arrived at Dr. David's office the next morning, I was still feeling pain-free (except for some slight tenderness in the area of the surgery). I can't say enough positive things about biological dentistry, Dr. David and his entire staff - from the front office to his wonderful dental hygienist, Gail Johnson. I have learned so much about how the mouth affects the body. One of the things I like most about Dr. David is his conservative approach to dentistry. I have a titanium implant that I've worried may be contributing to my auto-immune conditions, and he has referred me to herbalists and energy healers first to see if the problem can be addressed without surgery. Removal of the implant is something he is diligently trying to avoid, if possible, as removal is a difficult and expensive procedure. He also understands that, if I do need to have the implant removed, that my immune system should be as strong as possible to avoid undue trauma. But probably the best thing about BioDental Healing is that Dr. David and the entire staff are so open-minded and excited to learn from their clients (who are often very well educated themselves in holistic healing and seek him out as result). One of the help told me that I was "toxic" in a very nasty way - also said that I should call them first thing Monday and make an appointment.... If that's the way to fetch business, then they should shut down immediately. They used a machine to read levels of amalgams which was way off! Bottom line, the impression I got was that they are desperate for business and will do anything. I think I'll stick with my original plan with my own Holistic Dentist. Also, they said that they are the only ones who were trained by Dr. Hal Huggins - we all know this isn't true! He's a nice person that believes in helping people and improving quality of life and overall health for his patients.
