The staff is all very nice and lovely. However this location is CURRENTLY incredibly understaffed and/or overbooked during the hours of 10-2pm. I usually spend 1 to 2 hours waiting in line EVERY TIME. I've donated in 3 different states and 5 locations and this is the most waiting I've ever done. So if any staff member sees this-- PLEASE hire more people or spend a little more money on advertising recruiting. read more

A woman working pulled me aside after I had been sitting down for a min and told me I shouldn't be wearing the shorts I'm wearing because it detracts men that are in the building then goes to tell me to wrap my blanket around me when I try to fix my shorts. I did not come here to get told what too wear regardless. Do not waste your time. I've tried this place 3 times now because it's closest to my house and it's horrific each time. The employees are rude and treat you less than human. I had a scheduled appointment at 7 and arrived at 645 to get checked in.. stood in line 45-55 minutes just to get checked in, nothing else. Yikes. I don't know who thought dividing the one line into four separate waits would be easier, but yikes. As of the beginning of spring 2021, the entry process has changed. You wait in the first line, which goes out the front door to get your temperature checked. Then you wait in a long line to do your questions. Then you wait at the computer to be called for vitals. Then you wait in another long line for a chair. Also around this time their mobile app changed systems. They did not test it before rolling it out and now most of us can't login to schedule, check our card balances, or use any part of the app. Their website uses the same system and is also down. Wait time, despite these changes, is still at 2-3 hours. Yikes, yikes, yikes. read more

Extremely slow to actually get poked. I ws going to this center a lot but spending hours here for $40 isn't worth the $. If I make an appointment to donate should I really walk in and see 20+ ppl in line that still haven't been poked yet and still waiting? Just started as a donor. Been able to donate three times. Each time the wait it horrendous. While it does seem much worse when they are short staffed. However keep in mind just because you have an appointment-you will be waiting for an hour and half to 2 hours or more before you even get a chance to be taken back to donate. They need to revise their appointments and NOT have the availability that they offer as they simply cannot accommodate it. Do not plan on donating unless you have ALL day to spend here. The staff is great. Very nice and polite. Facility is always clean etc. read more

I've been donating at this location off & on for over 5 years now and they have always been great! But now...it's the most aweful! This location is understaffed & overbooked beyond belief!!! I used to be able to be in & out in about an hour, hour and a half. Now it takes over 3 hours!!! I'm not sure what happened here, but over the last few months this location had gone into the toilet! If I could give this place negative stars I would. Worst blood bank I've ever been at. Techs constantly miss your veins, and cause hematoma's. Had a tech tell me to f*** off because I told her, her attitude was kind of rude. The Manager Tabitha Ficenec is extremely unprofessional and rude. I was a having a bad reaction to the mispoke and was told by the manager I was being over sensitive. She then refused to give her name. If I could leave less than one star, I would. This center is so unorganized, understaffed and unapologetic for all of it. I was a repeat donor and have wasted 3 hours this week driving back and forth just trying to donate! I never was able to get in and now am so frustrated, I just refuse to go back. They make appointments for WHAT reason exactly? My first time going I had 13 people waiting in front of me just to get in the door. Don't continue to offer appointment times if you can't accommodate the people who are already waiting. (And yes, I had called before going and they said to come right in, no problem). I ended up leaving because I couldn't dedicate 4 hours that day. Second time back, with an appointment, I waited an hour just to be told I needed a physical again and they had appointments for that in two weeks. If the option for negative stars could be available. . . One of the male techs that other staff despise and identified as possibly the asst clinic Mgr is beyond rude. One of the nurses blamed me for 9 other techs and another nurse's documentation failure. The wait time is ridiculous (2 hours plus). Highly recommend you find a different company. I've been donating here for years. Initially it was wonderful. I would walk in, short wait, then donate. I was never there longer than an hour. It started to go down hill when they introduced their platinum program. Lines were crazy long and many of their employees quit. I know this because I ran into a former employee at her new job. When Covid hit, they seemed to manage it ok. However, these last few months that I have tried to donate have been a nightmare. The first time I was there to donate took over two hours. The second time they handed me a Cheese Cake Factory like buzzer and told me to wait in my car. After 20 minutes, I was finally let in, then I had to wait in line another 20 minutes or so, just to answer the computer questions! I finally just left. Today I came to donate. Tons of people waiting outside and in their cars with buzzers just to get in to answer questions on the computer. I walked in and noticed the ridiculously long line of people waiting AGAIN to answer the computer questions. I left again. Of course I don't blame the staff. It's not their fault. This is a minimum wage job. However, there is a serious issue. I'm not sure what made a great establishment go down hill so fast. Covid is not to blame. Their problems started long before that. However, there are other many great places to donate plasma in the city. But for now I would definitely avoid BioLife in Independence to protect your sanity! read more

As a healthy, marathon runner who is in PA school, I enjoy donating plasma for many reasons. Unfortunately, I often have a low protein level and am unable to donate. Today I was denied to donate because I went to my car to get my jacket. There was no explanation given. There was nobody in line to donate. Not only did they lose my business today, but they have lost my business for good. I have been driving 60 miles round-trip to donate at this facility and now I am done. I am sad I must take my business elsewhere. read more

For starters this poor review has nothing to do with covid except for perhaps the wait at the beginning. And as it doesn't seem like they are taking covid into consideration why should I? This place is trash. My appointment was at 445 I walk in, check in and there are people standing everywhere inside outside, they said they're 15 minutes behind, with 10 people standing in your lobby and another 15 standing in line for your finger stick, ok sure 15 minutes. 45 minutes later I get to start my process, I was a returning donor and needed a physical. I had come in a few weeks prior to try and do a physical and donation but my iron was low so I had to do the entire process over. There was a small bruise on my arm and someone accidentally flagged it as abuse so I I had to go do an arm check which took longer because the guy was confused about the flag. Then I finally got to do my questionnaire and then proceeded to stand and wait forever for my physical and they tried to take someone back first whose appointment was 30 minutes after mine, however I spoke up and so they took me instead. Then something happened with the pc and they could process my physical or something which meant I couldn't donate, this was at 7, I waited another 30 minutes for the manager to apply money to my account for my trouble and to schedule to come back and start all over physical and all and then she had the audacity to let me know I was going to receive 10$ for my 3 hrs of waiting. It was insulting. I will not be returning to do a third physical. This isn't to mention the tables in the physical rooms, chairs in the lobby, computer screens, and finger print scanners are not wiped down in between each person and the bathroom was absolutely disgusting, trash overflowing, blood on the toilet seat. So I've been wanting to donate plasma for awhile now, and my friend told me that BioLife would be a great place to start. He said the staff was all really nice and helpful. Excited I made my first appointment at the independence location since it's closer to my house. I walk in and was instantly greeted but not in a nice way. She kept yelling at me when I couldn't hear her the first time. She tells me to "come here" I walk over to her and she says rudely that I need to move my hair. I do she takes my temperature and again I get the come over here and she takes my temperature. I'm holding it and rudely she says no don't hold it there hold it here. She then looks at me annoyed saying that I have a fever (99.0) and says that I can't continue my appointment today and rudely told me I had to wait until Wednesday to come back. She didn't offer to help me reschedule my appointment or apologize for her rude behavior. I will never to go back to this location. I've never been instantly greeted with rudeness coming into a place of business before. It's discouraging to have someone who is supposed to be helping you and instead get annoyed looks and rude attitude. Definitely did not make me feel comfortable or welcomed at all. If you want a nice staff you better avoid this place ! read more
