The main reason I was struggling cognitively was because of the super loud music. It felt like a club and I got a headache. I could barely hear anyone, let alone my own thoughts. I have ADHD and autism, so I was extremely overstimulated. I also have social anxiety, so I would feel uncomfortable asking someone to turn the music down. Instead of stirring trouble, I am just going to invest in noise canceling headphones once I get paid for my first plasma donation. I wasn't able to donate my plasma, yesterday, but I will try again on Monday. I will have to switch my sleep schedule around because I usually sleep during the day. I had a fatty breakfast (pork sausage, eggs, and buttered toast) right before driving to the donation center, and I had taken my triple omega supplement, which the Internet says is a bad idea. I should still be able to have these things early in the actual morning, and then just have a lean, high protein lunch and dinner before driving to the donation center, as well as drinking excess water, with electrolytes.

Do you really want to see me after a pint of ice cream?? No, you dont. When I lived with the parents the DBB would call our house 3 times to remind me, my sister, and my mom that our post donation waiting period was up and we could donate again. Yes, the lady would call leave a message for me, hang up, dial the same number, leave a message for my sister, hand up AGAIN, dial the same number AGAIN, and finally leave a message for my mom. That's worth annoyed 5 stars right there. It's a good cause..doesnt take too much time...just do it.

I just read an article written in 2007 stating that the CEO of Delta Blood Bank makes $357,000…read moreannually. It's an amazing sum but I assume the position is that important. I've been donating blood since I was seventeen as a Navy recruit. I've donated blood in our ports-of-call all over the world. We used to call the Red Cross nurses "vampires", because we knew they wanted our blood when they came aboard. I've never asked anything in return for these donations but I have been given many different things. The main reason I began to give blood because the Navy would serve you a New York strip steak at dinner if you showed them your donation card. It was great for a kid that only weighed 125 pounds! I only have a little over five gallons credited with the Delta Blood Bank since we have moved here from Illinois. They have always treated me well and the donation sites are clean and the employees are very professional. I'm not much on the cookies and hot dogs, but I do enjoy the apple juice after donating. The new system of accumulating points is very interesting. I currently have about 200 points and it's fun to use their computer to see what I can get if I redeem them. Donating blood for me isn't about the steak, cookies, hot dogs or apple juice. It's about helping another human survive another day, week, month or year with a commodity only we have. It can't be manufactured or taken from animals, it's ours and ours to share only if we choose. In this age of "ME" and "what can I get" it's comforting to know there are a lot of folks like me willing to share their time and a very valuable fluid for no pay or very little personal gain. I'll soon be 57 I've been donating for 40 years and have no inclination of stopping my visits to the blood bank any time soon. I did ask the employees not to call me anymore. After all this time, I know when it's time to donate. Encourage one another. "Save a Life, Give Blood"

They were professional, efficient and caring. The real MVP of the day was my phlebotomist Nayeli. It was the most gentle phlebotomy experience I've ever had, making the entire experience extremely worthwhile. Huge thank you to her for the expertise in her craft, I hope I get her every time The way some patients were treating the staff during my only encounter there was truly shocking. So anyone who doesn't go based on reviews online should definitely go check it out for themselves. I dealt with at least 10 incredibly compassionate people working there. I did get turned away the second appt due to my bruising, but they did it nicely and with a great explanation why. No need to yell at the staff who are simply doing their job. If you get turned away, handle it gracefully and come back another time instead of yelling and being rude. Can't wait to go back. Earning a little money while doing something that helps a lot of people is a win in my book.

Absolutely unacceptable experience at the Modesto BioLife location…read more I had a 7:50 a.m. appointment and wasn't given a decision until around 10:00 a.m. I spent over two hours waiting only to be told I couldn't donate. During my medical screening, I disclosed that I had previously been told I was prediabetic. I also came prepared with official medical documentation from my healthcare provider confirming that I do not currently have diabetes or prediabetes. Instead of reviewing or accepting documentation from my physician, the nurse refused to accept it and insisted that I now have to schedule another doctor's appointment and pay additional money just to have BioLife's own form completed stating the exact same thing my physician has already documented. So after wasting over two hours of my morning, my gas, and my time, I'm now expected to spend even more money to obtain duplicate medical documentation simply because it isn't on BioLife's preferred form. The entire experience felt like paperwork and liability mattered more than actual medical evidence from my healthcare provider. If this is BioLife's policy, it should be disclosed before people schedule appointments and waste half their morning. I have already submitted a formal corporate complaint regarding this incident, so there is no need to respond with the standard "please contact us" message that appears on other negative reviews. I'm looking for accountability and a review of how this situation was handled--not a generic response. This was one of the most frustrating customer experiences I've had in a long time.

After having problems with exhaustion and weakness from two back surgeries I was desperately searching for help. The staff is courteous and prompt, and always are there to solve any issues or answer any questions. Even being a long time patient, I've received discounts from Helix MWR! They are extremely flexible to meet your schedule and even come to any location you need to conduct blood draws. In today's world everyone needs an advantage, and Helix is mine! NO more exhaustion or back pain, consistently hitting PR's in the gym, and I can proudly say that I am in the best shape of my life and proving my past back surgeons wrong when they said I couldn't live an active lifestyle anymore.
