I wish I could rate the staff and the organization separately. In my humble opinion the staff here truly do the best they can and make the donation process a great experience. I am guessing that the staff turnover rate is high, I make this guess by the 2 hour wait time just to check in and unfortunately I view this as a result of poor management and organizational policies and procedures. I observed staff of the highest professional order and care working at this site that are dedicated, caring, and professional. I observed staff that could have cared less. I also observed a VERY high turnover rate of the phlebotomists with new trainees virtually every donor visit I did. More disturbingly I observed staff that handled used sharps (needles) and blood contamination items (gloves) incorrectly, disposed of bio hazard materials in regular trash receptacles, and screening staff that used completely subjective criteria to turn away donors with no explanation other than "try again later" I felt more like I was a stray animal at a shelter being selected than a donor willing to spend up to two hours of my life in a chair in order to help others. One week they had a HVAC failure and the donor area was easily 85F or higher during the height of summer in the central valley. That is a health issue for everyone in the center, not just the donors. It took weeks to fully resolve. I will NEVER go to this donor center again. read more

Horrible! Just straight up terrible!!! They have the WORST staff every time I come here to draw blood they're always finding a problem they act like they don't ever want to provide me service for some odd reason. They are rude and neglectful and they blocked me from donating plasma for a whole month. And the moment I was able to donate plasma, they paid me less than what I was owed and mind you this is my second donation and they only paid me $40 instead of $75 and I'm still considered a new donor this is the worst plasma center ever. So I'm a fairly new donor here, and all I gotta say is the staff here is amazing. The moment you walk through those front doors the check in process is quick and minimal time to get checked and seated. In my experience the longest wait is when you're on the chair waiting to be hooked up to the machine, but that varies depending on the amount of people that are there. That's not on the staff, they're continuously moving to make your stay all that much more quickly and comfortable. I have absolutely no complaints when it comes to getting poked. Every one so far has done a near painless job. But Carlie (hope that's correct) is by far the best. Didn't even realize she poked me until I looked down. Didn't even feel it. That's talent. On my part, thank you for making my experience a memorable one. This place is great and will continue donate. read more

Dont waste your time! my 1st donation went fine. I download the app which doesn't work so I call, they tell me the app is fine I must be doing it wrong. put me on hold 20 mins & tell me bring proof of address, they scheduled me so I go in and wait 1 hour, get vitals every thing is good then once I'm in the back wait another 30 mins. get hooked up and they say there's a small bruise and your other arm the vein is small. they are not professionals to draw blood, just out of 6 week trade school! I wasted 2 hours sitting there. I asked can I reschedule for the next day and they said try the app LMFAO. plasma saved my friends life I do it to save lives these people are unprofessional, no experience and flat out rude. and don't get me started on how dirty the facility is. The bathroom has blood splashed on the stalls, only one working toilet and one working sink. i really don't know how they are even still open doing busines. read more

My husband and I come here often and 4 out of 5 times THIS happens. A couple of young girls that work there are beyond careless. I've been poked and repoked a handful of times and it turns out looking like this and somehow it's the donors fault. Today my husband was complaining about his bruise vein and finally showed me this. His last donation (a few days ago) he said the same young lady was careless and rude yet again and she ended up hurting him even worse than usual. He brought it to the supervisor's attention and all they said was that he wasn't able to donate for a awhile and got no payout. No apology, no remote, nothing. I would not recommend this place unless you have patience and/or time to waste. I came in on a Monday morning, about 9:30am. It was my first time ever trying to donate plasma, and I have a friend who has been doing it for a while. There were two ladies working the front desk, one just seemed very impatient and other was nice. I explained that it was my first time, so I wasn't sure of the process. I brought my documents, and the nice woman escorted me to the back to have my veins checked before they complete the whole physical. So, I was sat down at a chair, and I waited, waited, and waited. There were at least 3 staff members that were working behind the back office desk, dressed in scrubs. The nice woman from the front desk actually walked back to check and see if I was still there and asked if my veins were checked, and I told her no. So, she walked to some of the nurses who were helping people and the three people behind the desk and asked for a vein check. I continued to wait for another 15 minutes. After at least 45 minutes of just waiting for a vein check, I decided to leave. I was pretty frustrated because I had no idea if my veins would have even qualified for the donations anyways, and the other staff in the back never said a word to me. They never said, "we'll be right with you" or "one moment please." Instead, I saw the three staff members talking behind the desk, and it didn't even look like they were working. The reason I gave a 2 instead of a 1 star is solely due to the fact that the nice woman checked in and was understanding of my decision. She apologized when I told her that I was leaving. She said, "I am so sorry that happened." and that she understood. read more

I'm a consistent donor and today the wait was extremely long my appointment was at 9:15 it is 10:45 and I am still waiting in chair they don't have an organized system to know who's next it's apparently not working because the lady next to me just complained that she was skipped 5 times I work at 3pm and it's just upsetting that the workers here don't value our time and are very impolite and pick and choose who they be nice to or even service the last time things were getting better but today it's just careless and unprofessional I don't appreciate the wait at all and if it's upsetting who they choose to provide ten extra dollars for the inconvenience. I've donated 68 times and moved from La to Fresno and the service here is horrible and clearly need new management to micromanage I came from Grifols in paramount and Grifols in Fresno is horrible and I want it to be known! We go out our way to donate for a better cause because the compensation is so little 40$ first time and 80 second time Solange Lanfranco donor number 6098 . I visited the Biomat at the corner of Dakota and Blackstone in Fresno recently. I had been wanting to go there to learn about their $1,000 payment program, which pays you $100 per visit. Sounded very interesting as I could use the extra money. I went in and told them that I was 61 years old, and the lady at the counter told me the age limit was something like 67, and that there was no problem with me donating plasma. I left and called in 2 days later and asked for a nurse, and not just a counter worker. I wanted to be sure about potential side-effects. The nurse told me that all ages of people had various different reactions to donating plasma. She rattled off at least 10 different reactions. I then re-read their brochure and it said nothing about potential reactions for those donating plasma. Too shady for me. Not going to recommend that people donate at that location, or with that company. read more

I have been a regular donor for over 3 years at Grifols Biomat, Blackstone Av, in Fresno. When I first arrived things were very good there with pay and lots of finanical bonuses for all regular donors. The pay use to be $50 dollars first and $90 for second donation. Then about18 months or so they lower donors pay to the current amount $40/$80, and the financial bonuses are now a lottery system for a few donors. They also got cheaper machines plasma machines during that time which have problems breaking down more often. However, the staff also changed a lot during that time. In the beginning, staff were friendly and helpful. However, today most of the staff are tired and burned out going thru the motions making more mistakes when sticking donors. There is an older blond female worker named Jamie who acts unprofessional. She is seen regularly on the floor threatening donors with $5 dollar payouts, and last Saturday she announced loudly that donors who use the kiosk will not be seen serviced by the staff on the donation floor. read more

They said that it would take me 2-3 hours, but helped me in about 15 minutes. Additionally, the person who they said was a lead phlebotomist said she only took people with big veins. I have never had big veins in my arms before in my life. It sounds like gender discrimination to me or that they are used to taking blood from men. Also, she wouldn't let me get water or go get food, and come back. She took a look at my veins, and just told me to come back tomorrow without giving me a reason. I thought this was relatively rude. This happened in the waiting room too. I couldn't even drink anymore water from the water fountain. read more

BE PREPARED TO WAIT! The nurses are bias ESPECIALLY ONCE YOU'RE IN THE BACK. They pick & choose who to take care of first. You can have an appointment, be already in the back, and they'll still pick someone else who just walked back. It's happened numerous times to me. I've complained before but overall, once you get to the back the nurses are in control. You may wait to get setup for 10 mins, 20 mins or even 30 mins . And then again once you're done & waiting for them to wrap it up ....it All depends on the nurses mood ig. It's fucked up but it's how it is here. read more

When you come here you never know if you'll qualify or not. The rules differ by every employee and are not consistent. They text bonuses out which is nice, but they don't always honor them. There seems to always be a catch. Donating is a good thing and 100 for first 8 is nice, but its a hassle at times because of inconsistent rules. read more

Let's start off by saying I am returning donor, always had a great experience. This time was horrible, the male RN Interrupted my screening , Stacy who was screening me was wonderful as always. So , as I was called for screening there was a something happening on the floor that was an "emergency " Stacy had to go. That only an RN COULD DO. If it was that much of an emergency why didn't the male RN go? If it was that important than why send someone else. Then Jennifer was screening me and she was rude had no customer service experience. Honestly if she was nicer and didn't have such horrible attitude I probably rude. When they screen you everytime the poke your finger, I asked since Stacy had to go on the floor If I had to get poked again & Jennifer couldn't give me a straight answer nor the male RN. I was offered to talk to a manger but with the rude service I'm pretty sure management wouldn't do shit. They disregarded me and treated me properly. I donate Thursdays and Saturdays, and I've been donating for about 3 months now. The staff here are very nice and also very respectable. I hated needles, but it was definitely reassuring having the phlebotomists talk you through the process. On the first donation, I was scheduled around 10:30am, and I wasn't actually donating until 1:30. This was because of the physical exams, urinalysis, and also complying with the set rules and reviewing what plasma donation is. During this process, the staff was very nice and always had a smile on their face. I don't know what her name was, but the Asian lady definitely answered all of my questions about the process! On to the actual donation, there were plenty of phlebotomists in the actual donating station. I've been "sticked" by Romana and also Maria (I think?) and one of the males (Bracken?). They are always checking up on me and the other donors! It usually takes 35 minutes for me to donate. I like donating plasma here because by the end of my first month, most of the staff knew my name and actually held conversations with me. They also provide incentives for our time donating ($75 first & second time; $50 for third-fifth time; and $65 per week if donating twice a week). They had a cute pumpkin patch with prizes, and the whole month of November they're offering more incentives to donors! I'd definitely check this place out if you're someone looking to donate and receive extra cash on the side. 5/5! read more

I been coming here since April of this year and the service is always great. They make you feel welcome and at home. The lobby and restroom are always very clean. Now with the covid19 pandemic they have been sanitizing everything and checking each Patiant before they come in .Also Kim and Carla are amazing and they always make sure you are doing good and comfortable. First time donating plasma in my life today and Biomat made it such an easy process. I made an appointment online, did my research so I had all of my proper documents to register: current ID, actual social security card (not copy), proof of residency (I brought it just in case but they didn't ask for it). From registering and to getting poked with the needle the staff was amazing every step of the way through the entire process. Incredibly friendly, professional, efficient, informative and kind. My heart rate was too high when they took it so I had to sit for 15 minutes to bring it down. I was just really nervous for some reason I think. The nurse was super sweet and helpful when I told her I think my heart rate was a bit over their threshold (can't be more than 100 and mine was 106) because I was just nervous, so she helped me do some breathing exercises and it came down. They were very clean and constantly wiping down stations and areas throughout the facility. Everyone was also wearing masks, face shields and gloves. I know a lot of people do it for the money (I did too) but it makes me feel like a better human being donating because it saves lives. I would highly recommend Biomat! read more

I waited 3 hours just for them to tell me that I was unable to donate cause I got a tattoo done 10 months ago and cause it was done another state. Not complaining of the staff they were great and helpful. Horrible experiences I tried to donate 3 times but every time there was a problem first time was because I hadn't eaten a proper meal when I had ate a bowl of cereal with a slice of bread which on the sheet they gave me what I ate was qualified as a proper meal and then they said it was cus it was to long since I ate when I told them it had only been 2 hours ago since I last ate red flag! Next time I tried coming in and they said my temperature was above 99 degrees and the last time was because I had schizo affective disorder wow! Facility is clean, and not crowded. Staff is friendly and professional. Only issue I had was I went through 2 hours of reading, questions, and tests, then was told that I can't donate because of one of the medications I take. I disclosed my medications within 15 minutes after arriving. I wish they could have told me then that I was ineligible instead of wasting my time. read more

Really frustrated! As a healthy 25 year old, with no health issues or history of high blood pressure, I have been turned away several times now due to failing BP. I don't eat unhealthy, run everyday, and drink tons of water, but somehow still manage to fail. I know it's because they take BP standing instead of sitting, which, obviously, can affect the results. I've been donating at all different locations since I was 18, and I have NEVER had an issue until now. I'm tired of driving 45 min only to be turned away. If they value their donors, they'd make changes to ensure they will return. I am saddened to say, I'm on my last leg with Biomat. I was also told that their SOP (standard operating procedure) doesn't specifically say it needs to be taken whilst standing. They need to fix this. Today was my first horrible day. Mind you I have been donating for awhile now and have had nothing but excellent service. Today they drop the ball. I was the first one in and was the 3 person taken back, when I asked why they said they lost my chart!!!! Then 25 minutes later they find it. I get called back and I notice my chart has been flagged. So I question why and they stumbled with a answer. They said it was in quality control. My alleges needed to be added to my donor sheet. I asked well I have been here for awhile why now? They couldn't answer that. So I then asked has my chart been incomplete from the beginning? Still no answer.
